Comment: TO: NONAME NOSHAME THING:
So called "poisoned product" is 100% caused by the faulty design of the importer, that's also an excuse of the politician in your own country, who's always trying to fool its own people by blaming the world.
If you cannot produce competetive product, blame your own impotency.
We are producing engineers 3 times as many as that of yours each year, rake your toe head, try hard to imagine what will happen in the next decade!!!
Comment: To noname noshame thing:
US is the No.1 exporter of WAR, POINSONOUS ADDICTIVE DRINK AND JUNK FOOD;
US is a place where noshame thing as you together with SHARON STONE--the most notorious DESERTED SEX WORKER is produced;
US is the No.1 ROGUE COUNTRY IN THE WORLD!
Comment: I like it when you call it history. Don't chinese go to japanese war crimes in china that happened before most us were born? I still remember Tiananmen events. You can't live history but you can't also tell people which part of it to talk about or to censure. If the majority has moved on its okay but the minority that has forgiven but not forgotten has a right to talk and I bet all revolutions are intiated by a minority if not a handful of people.
Comment: I don't understand why Westerners keep going back to history of Tiananmen Square when majority of the Chinese has moved on?
Comment: To noname --
Americans do not have to buy anthing from China. It's your OWN choice. Korean didn't like Japanese due to the war. You can not find any Japanese products in Korea. Instead, Koreans went on to develop its own brands. Americans should do the same if you don't like China.
But the truth is that when it comes to production, Asians make it cheaper and Europeans make it better. Sadly, there is no more comparative advantage for 'made in America', if there is still any left. Take a hard look at yourself, your own country, your own history before you trash other people.
Natural disaster is nature against ALL human beings. I guess you are not one of them.

Please look at your own back door. Iraqi population used to be 27M now 24M. Probably half the people in these countries are displaced.
Have you heard of Diego Garcia? A whole tribe was removed from these islands - for what !!! to build a military base for US. It was here that Afganistan and Iraq was bombed. Where are these people now. Living in the slums of Mauritius and Seychelles.
As for these inferior goods from China. Please ask the likes of Mattel, Waltons etc to please check on the quality control because they have the means to. No they are just too greedy for more profit. Their mark-ups judging from their profits are probably 8 times.
And from the Silk Road days. Maybe we should state the following facts.
For 2 Centuries Britain occupied China and while China was starving doped with opium. At least 600 million addicts
By 1911 China was occupied by 8 nation Alliance. Britain, USA, France, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands Russia, Austria, Italy, Hungary, Japan.
When the Chinese fought back with their martial arts and sword and could not match the guns and cannons of these countries they lost. For losing they had to pay back in 1901 over 39 years 333 million USD dollrs.
Get real noname. Who are the aggressors?
Comment: While any loss of life is to be regretted, we must all bear in mind that this is a NATURAL disaster. Nothing anyone could have done would have prevented this.
However, I do NOT feel one shred of pity or sympathy for China. As far as I'm concerned, the entire country could be buried under rubble and it would be a good thing.
The reason is simple. China is pro-actively blocking any outside assistance to Burma by backing the junta in charge. Nearly 100,000 people are dead or missing and many more are likely to succumb to disease. By any measure, this is clearly a CRIME AGAINST HUMANITY and China is an accomplice. Let me be clear, China is an accomplice to mass murder in Burma.
China's misery as a result of this quake will be finite. At some point rescue will cease and recovery will begin. They'll build a monument to commemorate the dead. However, the effects of the cyclone in Burma will - thanks to China's backing - continue for months, if not years. Those affected by disease resulting from the cyclone may be damaged for life. China sheds no tears for these Burmese victims of a disaster every bit as natural as the one that hit them.
These same Chinese are deliberately undermining trade with the US by shipping us inferior, contaminated, poisoned goods. They smile at us and show their "good" face, but turn around and actively spy on us.
This is not a new phenomenon. China has been deliberately cheating its trading partners since the days of the silk trade. This habit of screwing customers to maximize profit is culturally ingrained as it goes back centuries. And they pursue it with reckless abandon. The west coast of the US is the unfortunate recipient of the coal pollution China generates every day when it is carried eastward by the trade winds.
Pollution, poisoned pet food, poisoned pharmaceuticals and consumer goods, lead laced toys, actively spying on us, blocking aid to people in desperate need in order to continue wielding influence in the region. THAT is the real China. And now they want the world's sympathy. They want the world's respect because the Olympic Committee foolishly gave them the games.The Chinese are liars and hypocrites. They want to have their cake and eat it too. If they want the world's respect, the Chinese must begin behaving in a respectable manner. On all fronts.
Comment: This is a chinese in Shanghai, I want to say to the chinese government this is really the first time to respond to public since the earthquake happened, at least they know we need to know the truth at the first time in our country. Thanks to all people around world who helped Sichuan people, include those volunteers, donors and chinese army. Hope people who suffered in this disaster never give up, need to be strong, pray for those miserable children who died or became orphan during this calamity.
Comment: I???m a college student in Nanjing. I didn???t feel the earthquake shock at that time, later my friends and classmates told me the earthquake happened just now, but I never believe its consequences were so serious.
In the past few days, I refused to see any words and pictures about WenChuan Earthquake, because I can???t stop my tears, but now what???s the most need of them is not our tears.
There are collectionsof people everywhere. We donated money and material possessions in our school. As a student, what I can do for them is so little. After the quake, there always are long queues of donors in front of blood collection facilities, people voluntarily donate blood for quake victims, While I decided to join them, the blood collection center in Nanjing informed public to stop to donate blood temporarily, because the blood bank was saturated. We could leave the names and phone numbers waiting for notification. Later I know, not only in Jiangsu province, the same thing happened in many blood banks in Beijing, Shanghai, Shanxi, Hebei, and so on.
Our soldiers are still strugglling to reach quake survivors, while the hope is more and more frail, we prayer more lives could be rescued.
These are the real things what I have experienced now, I???m proud of my compatriots.
There were a lot of bad things happened to China in 2008???but I believe, we believe all bad things will be past, and everything will be fine!
Thanks for all of you caring about Sichuan???s people.

Comment: I send my best wishes to all the Chinese people.
We are dismayed and horrified at the destruction of your beautiful towns and cities from the earthquake. We shed tears and our hearts ache upon seeing the pictures and videos of the many people who have died and been injured. We hope and pray that all will be reunited with their families and have a solid roof over their heads and good food and water.
We know you will rebuild and heal from this sad event. Our hearts are with you and we look forward to helping you in any way we can.
Comment: As a Chinese, I'm convinced that the government will lead its people pull through the disaster. As the saying goes, sweet are the uses of adversity, the quake will unite people more closely and the earthquake-hit areas will become more beautiful and better constructed.
Comment: "Comment: I don't understand, why the author link the disaster with politics? why you repeat the politic events when describbing the unfortunate places."
because if they don't, they would not feel they have that so-called "high moral ground". it makes me sick to read that.
Comment: To donate, you can go to: http://donate.ifrc.org/, select "China earthquake";

I didn't hear any noise in CNN's reports.
Comment: Isolated China quake epicenter appeals for emergency aid(Xinhua) Updated: 2008-05-13 07:24

It is the common sense that earthquake can not be predicted precisely around the world even in American,the response of china government facing this crisis is rapid.Facts show that the rescue action from central to local municipality are deployed immediately and the living residents are also thrown into reliefing their neighbors. The most woeful thing is epicenter is mountainous area and all roads leading to these severe area have been ruined by landslides and telecom has also been obstructed.The army are now tried to land on the qurake-striken area.
I think the china government can not deny any foreign rescue support,while the most emergent is to get through to these disaster area.
To evax,could you provide the donation for the victims of this quake without any useless remarks? The following website it the Red Cross of China:
www.redcross.org.cn
Comment: As a Chinese civilian, I believe in Chinese government's capability to cope with the disaster and rescue its people.
Comment: To accept humanitarian aid from foreign countries does not imply that the government is weak. Please ask people whether they need food, shelther, energy, medicine, as well as hospitality after the disaster. To cover people's will with national pride has been a sad legacy during Mao's dynasty. I am surprised to find that Mao's ghost is still haunting some Chinese civilians in the 21 century.
Comment: not every country receive all the aids when disaster happens include USA and UK. unfamiliar ,not native speekers may spend more time in rescuing the survivals. please understand the decision of other goverment. and think about what your goverment would do ,when such events happen
Comment: China government do have donation methods for foreign aids, such as redcross donation account, which could be found in websites.
Please have your say after investigation, man.
