I like the idea of Obama/Hagel and the prospect of a current Clinton supporter (but not Clinton herself) like Indiana's Evan Bayh sounds intriguing.

Hillary Clinton is a unique brand. A "Clinton supporter" would not be a viable substitute.
Oh, now Hillary is a unique brand. If she is so unique, pray tell. why didn't she kick O's butt instead of losing 11 states in a row back in Feb?
They're neck and neck. And when you look at the swing state math, she's kicking his butt. She only needs to convert Florida or Ohio into the D column where O needs to convert a LOT of states. So those wins O had in Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, and all those other red, red states. WORTHLESS.
Donna1000,
Isn't that what Hillary's team said about Caucuses? Worthless? and isn't that what has her in this mess? They are neck and neck?...come on... I know that reality bites, but he is the guy who is going to win and she is the woman who threw this whole thing away...it was hers to lose and she knows it...even if you don't or won't admit it!
Neck and neck in what?!?!? He's killing her in # of states won, delegates, SUPERdelegates.... She's slightly beating him in popular vote, ONLY if you count FL and MI, and don't count actual Caucus votes. And, until the GE officially gets underway, the famous "swingstate math" is completely fictional. So, how are they neck and neck?......because Hillary supporters say so?? because Republicans say so????
In the real world, getting beat 3 out of 4 categories is considered a landslide!! And, the 4th category is questionable at best.
But who is a viable veep - male or female?
Who can ensure he gets the middle left/right vote?
Hills is gone. Time to look at the pros and cons of the veep.
Will it be Edwards or Biden? Perfunctory Google research supports Biden.
Is there a woman?
Does there have to be a woman, Alvy? And have you seen BF today?
yeah it's fictional!!! There is no historical evidence what so ever....crap, nevermind.
Thank you, Kb! These Hillary supporters refuse to face reality.
Lol! Neck and neck? Do you mean for her to get the nom. at the convention from the supers? If so, I give up, do forgive me , I'm not being mean nor disrespectful but alas, you are delusional. It's the Delegates baby! Those darned Delegates again and again! It ain't the pop vote and it ain't the states that you believe Hillary would carry in Nov..
Feb was then, many dog years ago, and this is now. You stick with your delegates Pia. Unless they pick someone who can win the Electoral College that will be the mother of all Pyrrhic victories.
Donna, be realistic, the rules of the game are the delegates. Obama is also doing pretty well acquiring superdelegates lately. In your honest opinion who do you think the supers will choose in August?
Donna, you did not answer my question... why did Hillary lose 11 states in a row?
Yeah cause that's just as good as having Clinton and all her supporters will automatically cross over...LOL!!
Throughout American history, a strong president has meant our country has been able to avoid a full recession, has been the leading power in the world, has kept this country secure and safe and has overcome our economic woes. These attributes as a leader and Commander In Chief will project the United States of America on a forward path that is prosperous, economically sound, and to regain the American faith and trust in government that has receded in the past decade and it can only belong to one candidate, and that candidate is future Madame President Hillary Clinton. The American people need someone with conviction, stability, experience, determination and the ability to fight for the American dream and put that dream into affect on day one of the White House. Standing up for a President of this United States will take every American worldwide; with pride and trust restored in our nation and the solutions will follow. A small voice was heard today. A voice that will echo across this state, this country, the entire world and with each echo that voice is becoming stronger and stronger until it billows from the rooftops of each American home who can now proudly display their American flag, across meadows, fields and farmlands, from the tops of mountains ranges across our great nation to the beautiful lakes, seas and oceans. That voice is the voice of the American people and we are saying, "Hillary Clinton IS our next President!"
Not one Democrat with a brain that functions now trusts Hillary Clinton. How hard is it to understand Mkgubbon, that Hillary has tossed her progressive and Feminist credentials under the bus to pander to the worst instincts in the American voter. Unfortunately the people in Kentucky will not vote their best economic interests in this election because they won't vote for a black man. Their choice, but Hillary didn't call them on it and that is sad. Rather she exacerbated the whole thing. Look, anybody who has any inkling about management skills, looks at the way Hillary ran her campaign and they know Elvis has left the building. You cannot tout your great experience and fail so miserably to run a competitive campaign. This woman had two years to strategize and raise money and got every endorsement of a major Democrat. Her downfall was her sense of entitlement and arrogance. She won't quit now because she will have to go home and face the fact that she threw this whole thing away and she threw it away because of character flaws people have spoken about for years. Her energizer bunny performance these last days doesn't fool anyone in politics. She failed politics 101...NEVER NEVER NEVER underestimate your opponent. Prepare for the hard fight always always always and if you win easy...so much the better, but if it is hard fought you are totally prepared with money, staff and skill... and that is the Obama campaign, if I'm not mistaken!
American has never elected a man whose hero's journey was about trying to find himself. Liberal Democrats who are a little more in touch with their feminine sides than the average guy do not get elected. Maybe 15 or 20 years from now, but it's not looking good for 2008. The Democrats have not completed their search for a presidential candidate and one of the wanna bes has started his search for a VP. And they talk about Hillary trying to steal the nomination. It's not over until it's over and, as much as Barack wants this to be over, it is not.
Obama is not trying to steal the nom. He won it because he earned it. Donna, please face reality, Hillary lost, Obama won. I'm sorry. Obama is now the running candidate for president of the United States and has all the right to be deciding on his running mate at the time, esp. since Hillary has dragged this thing out for her own agenda. Perhaps McCain can offer her the VP since she has all but come out and admitted she is in favor of a Rep. party every time she has discredited Obama by flagrantly praising McCain
Pia,
He is the front runner at the moment. He is not the nominee.
Donna
Even if he wins the nomination, he will not win the Presidency. There are too many Democrats who don't care for him (myself included). Even with Hillary saying we will pull together, it won't happen. The man is arrogant, a liar and cares about no-one but the people/companies with money (as evidenced by his legislative votes). Even if it was a joint ticket I think you would find many people hardpressed to vote for them. Besides if he does win and becomes President it won't take long before it all comes crashing down on his head.
Sounds like you're describing your parenting skills.
Couldn't be Obama you're talking about. You don't know him - and don't want to try to get to know him. Why pretend you do?
Thanks my kids are both doing very well but can't say the same will happen for his kids who listed to Wright for all those years. Let's see Nation Review Online has a few things to add about how smart Obama is:
Earlier this month in Oregon, he redrew the map of the United States: ???Over the last 15 months, we???ve traveled to every corner of the United States. I???ve now been in 57 states? I think one left to go.???
Explaining last week why he was trailing Hillary Clinton in Kentucky, Obama again botched basic geography: ???Sen. Clinton, I think, is much better known, coming from a nearby state of Arkansas. So it???s not surprising that she would have an advantage in some of those states in the middle.??? On what map is
Arkansas closer to Kentucky than Illinois?
Obama has as much trouble with numbers as he has with maps. Last March, on the anniversary of the Bloody Sunday march in Selma, Ala., he claimed his parents united as a direct result of the civil rights movement: ???There was something stirring across the country because of what happened in Selma, Ala.,
because some folks are willing to march across a bridge. So they got together and Barack Obama Jr. was born.??? Problem Obama was born in 1961, Selma March took place in 1965.
Over the weekend in Oregon, Obama pleaded ignorance of the decades-old, multibillion-dollar massive Hanford nuclear-waste cleanup: ???Here???s something that you will rarely hear from a politician, and that is that I???m not familiar with the Hanford, uuuuhh, site, so I don???t know exactly what???s going on there. (Applause.) Now, having said that, I promise you I???ll learn about it by the time I leave here on the ride back to the airport.??? I assume on that ride, a staffer reminded him that he???s voted on at least one defense-authorization bill that addressed the ???costs, schedules, and technical issues??? dealing with the nation???s most contaminated nuclear-waste site.
Last March, the Chicago Tribune reported this little-noticed nugget about a fake autobiographical detail in Obama???s Dreams from My Father: ???Then, there???s the copy of Life magazine that Obama presents as his racial awakening at age 9. In it, he wrote, was an article and two accompanying photographs of an African-American man physically and mentally scarred by his efforts to lighten his skin. In fact, the Life article and the photographs don???t exist, say the magazine???s own historians.???
Wow, he is so smart, and never tells a lie as he has so much integrity!
I'm sure the "real" media will run with these "stories". Good job.
The point being they are all true, you claim you know all about him than why have you not questioned this? Read the book and you will find it, the article about Selma was all over the news and he admitted he misspoke (like Hillary did). I guess it okay with you for him to be human and make mistakes, not tell the truth all the time, but not okay for anyone else?
Whoah. Look who's here. MB. Finally to my rescue. Should Rapunzel let down her hair, MB?
Of course you'd be happy if Obama loses. Are you a Dem or Rep, btw? If a Dem, well what a shame, you don't even try to support the nom. of your party. I'm a Rep voting Dem in Nov even if it were to be Hillary because I want the Reps out . Enough is enough. What say you?
So actually you are an Independent.
I suppose. I know I'm voting Dem this time no matter who the nom. is. You ?
Donna, excuse me, you're right, O is not the nom. he's the 'presumptive' nom. and your gal Hillary is still the one who lost.
Pia
Look at the swing state math Pia. Sen. Clinton can win. It would be much harder for Sen. Obama.
Obama says "change you can believe in" but I see Democrats heading straight over their old-fashioned political cliff of selecting a candidate who is not electable. My mother told me over and over that just because everyone else is jumping off a cliff it does not mean that I have to.
"Swing state math"????? Are you serious? You'll have more luck predicting the stock market.
And I wouldn't even touch the stock market with a ten foot pole.
Donna, this swing state is a myth as far as I'm concerned. Those old days are over. It's a whole new ball game. Obama will win. McCain and the Reps will lose. Here is the elephant in the room so to speak...the Reps lose because of the 8 years and the war and the economy. That's it. Hillary or any other Dem. nominee would win it too.
Obama and Rev Wright would make a could tandem. " Hillary ain't never been called a 'n***ger ' ."
Bill Ayers an expert in terrorist activities is a good pick.He would be good to assist Obama on foreign affairs.
Jesse Jackson is a good choice. He can win South Carolina for him.
Can't pick Edwards. He already pledged only to do charity work now and plus more than half of the Dems label him a Benedict Arnold. Ya...pick him Obama..wanna see you lose.
John Kerry is a good choice. He can flip-flop on issues that Obama never got a chance to flip-flop on!
He could pick Rezko. That way Obama can stop him from "ratting " on him.
Oprah Winfrey would be a good choice. She can help Obama with the woman vote. Oprah would also give away good prizes to Obama's cabinet people from time to time.
Roland Martin would be a good choice. Radio talk show host and CNN political pundit can spin anything for Obama to make him look good.
My all time favorite.....Michelle Obama herself....the queen of Chicago....the " first time I'm proud of my country in my whole adult life and not because my husband is running for President " woman that will give a whole new meaning to ' First Lady ' and VP because she is " Bridezilla ".
.
Go home.
He is not canadian
He is not concerned.
And you are my MB.
John Cougar Mellencamp is dedicating a song to Obama...." And the walls, come tumbling down and the walls come tumbling down...."
Mickey Mouse has "wishing on a star."
Instead of blathering about how "doom is near - wait and see" - Why don't you go listen to some more old-fashioned, dated rock. Elvis is voting Rep too. Stupid Canuck.
Sam Nunn and or Chuck hagel would be steller picks.
Why Hagel?
Either of these men would be good.
i like Webb &
Kathleen
it depends if Mit becomes Mccain VP. we might need Bloom for Obama's VP.
or Powell would be nice
Hi glimps. Any of these people would fit the bill for VP. Heck , I wouldn't be upset if Obama were to choose Hillary.. but I doubt he would.
he doesnt really need H.C.
FL. might go red this fall ( i think the battle field will be in OH. we already have PA. ( the funny thing is that is a state that just voted for her in a primary & Obama is still beating Mccain in that state)...
You go girl! You are informed to the hilt! I believe what you post.. you know your stuff.
Remeber when i posted the day that any Super D's from PA & OH swicth over to Obama that is the real sign that this is over. ( none of the Super D's from those two states has moved) .. Take notice.
he already won the primary. but they havent moved because they are loyalist ( they are waiting till the last 3 primary's are over).. If Mccain picks Mit ( that would put MI in play therefore, Obama needs OH)
Yes, I do remember that. Last night Tired and Old posted that Obama gained two supers and Hillary gained a super or an endorsement from Ohio. Not sure what she gained.
Any of the Super D's from PA. or OH will carry the state
Mccain beats Obama in only 2 swing states OH & FL. ( & not by alot either)... i guess H.C.'s tactic about Obama in unelectable is falling apart...
H.C. beats Mccain in PA. OH & FL ( Mccain is a weak candidate)
whatever, happen to MI? & Wisconsin? those are swing states too ( i guess Obama is Beating Mccain there).
I think ( suggest that Obama should pick a VP. from Ohio or FL )..
that is funny that H.C. won PA. & Obama & H.C. is beating Mccain in PA. ( Maybe Obama should pick ED. Rendell as VP. )
as long as H.C. supporters come on board....LOL!!!
Both OH & FL have Super D's that are women
You're good, G!
all that talk about the Electoral College .... ( H.C's whole tactic has failed to prove that Obama cant win in Nov.) plus dont forget about the Repblicans that are voting for Obama ( in those purple states)
some Southeren States & Northern States will be into play this Fall ( New Map).... Mit can carry Utah by himself :-) so Mccain might pick him..
Jim Webb....search over.
Since Kerry and Mondale both lost, maybe asking the man who chose their VP candidates isn't such a good idea.
An interesting pick might be Gov. Schweitzer of Montana, a democrat with excellent strengths in ecomomics - he's had successful businesses on 5 continents - speaks fluent Arabic, and is a strong advocates for gun owners.
Those blue-collar white men that everyone seems to think won't go for Obama would vote for Schweitzer.
Now is the time to start his search for his plead for VP.
Ladies and Gentlemen:
The future, the destiny of this great nation relies in the hands of only one person, a person who is a fighter, a leader like none before, a President that will not only fight for the American people but will finally change the way this government is run. A change for the betterment of each American, the economy, healthcare, the war in Iraq, terrorism, foreign policy, the oil crisis, a global leader that is recognized and respected worldwide: we, the American people have the great pleasure of introducing to you, the next President of these United States, your President, Hillary Clinton!
The American people have spoken!
Obama will be the nominee and the President because the American people have finally had enough of the nonsense and have spoken.
Mr. Obama, please pick the best VP to defeat McCaine and leave everything else aside. Do not allow any outside influences to affect your decision.
Pick the VP that brings the most to the ticket; a VP whose strengths are your weaknesses and whose weaknesses are your strengths. Pick someone who you feel most comfortable with.
Like everyone, I have my favorites:
**************************
#1 Joe Biden
#2 Kathleen Sebelius
#3 Jim Webb
**************************
It's entirely up to you, sir, but please pick the VP who brings the most to the ticket in terms of winning in November and forget everything else.
This is an election we cannot afford to lose.
Excellent, thank you!
Excellent, a presidential candiate that actually PLANS before taking action. I think there are several options that can help him with his Appalachia problem.
Obama obviously can and has been winning the white vote and the Appalachia region is the only glaring trouble area. Clinton, Edwards, Hagel or even Colin Powell could help in that region.
Florida is a glaring problem too.
FAnnie Mae CEO? Didn't they have a big scandal? The search should be a CLEAR easy one...Hillary Clinton. He should face the fact that SHE is bringing in EVERYONE and group that he hasn't been able to pull in to the DEM fold. They used to decided VPs based upon the runner up number of votes gets the runner up position WAY back with this country began.
