Wow! I have read a lot of blog over the past months, and I can state this is by far some of the best blogging I have read.. Eleanor, I always liked your comments on PBS and this one is right on target. Hillary, Bill and her people have to take ownership for the out come her. As a AA male leader in my community, I tell this all the time to these young black kids male, female and their parents: " When are you going to take ownership for your own life and stop blaming the white man for the things that are not right in your life?" I preach and teach this daily. I would love to see a woman in the wh. but not this woman! I would love to a black man in the wh. but but Jessie Jackson I'm one of few black families that I know of that are replicans! Yes we do exist, I voted for Bush both times, his father Both times and Ragan. But his year I crossed over and voted for Obama, Not because he was 1/2 black we get that part, but because all my life I wanted america to be as color blend as she could be... Hillary was winning 40% of the black vote until her and Bill played the race card in SC. I can't speak for all of black american, I can't find the word to convey here as to how proud!!!! Black America is right now that White America has open their hearts up to this black man with the funny name Obama Something the media for some reason don't poll and the lasting impect this one event in time will have on race in America, never be the same. I mean this guy was winning states that are 90-95% white? by large belowout margins! Media has over looked this as well. I don't know if he will win the GE. and at this point I don't care right long way off... All I can say is IN MY LIFE TIME!!!! At 52, We were told not in your life time! Today! Black America is beamimg! I don't think it has sunk in as yet! Thank you America for being so color blend God Bless!
This one goes out to Mrs. Holyroller:
The problem with people like you, which only make up 18% of this country thank god, is that you LIKE TO KILL AMERICANS and then you think calling them heros, makes it ok for you to keep killing them..you're like "we not KILLING THEM, we're making them heros!"...Mrs. Holly. That is a twisted way of faining Patriotism. When it's one of your nephews, maybe you'll get it, I doubt it, you'll just still be fearful and angry at the wrong people. America IS the greatest country in the world, BUSH is a F#$KING A$$HOLE! There is a difference. BUSH is NOT America, or truly American, he is a murderer for OIL. I hope you nephews don't have to die, and especially not for OIL.
It is you mam, you Mrs. Holly who is the disgrace, you don't mean to be, you just don't know any better. You're like a woman in an abusive relationship, that thinks that to show love you destroy, hurt, and abuse that which you love, in your case...America and it's children who are fighting this war.
Better stick to being born agian, I think you were prematurely born and have some kind of a defect.
HolyRoller is THE MAN....It is sweet and idealistic, to think....the war should never have been started. Soooo...we just pack up, come home, and pretend nothing happened. It doesn't work that way. Iraqi's would be massacred by the hundreds of thousands. Iran would take over. Instability would spread through the region. World War III would begin. But, you don't believe that. You think the mohammed messiah can just say....HOPE and CHANGE. And Allah will descend and bring world peace and stability. Sorry, but Islam will not back off. If we show signs of weakness and surrender, that is when all Hell will break loose. They only understand strength and power. And they are seeing it happen NOW. We are winning this war. Sen McCain has been correct all along. Results prove the point. And Iran will either submit to inspections and stop arming and training Iraqi insurgents, OR they will be bombed by summers end. It will happen. And true peace will finally have a chance.
Hussein Obama is a crook and a fraud. Not to mention a silly little sissy.
NOBAMA!!!
Actually I have a freind in the associated press who told me that Iran is NOT helping Iraq, none of the weapons found there (in Iraq) have been from Iran, something 20,000 weapons, explosives and ammuniton were found and NONE of it was from Iran. There was going to be this big press conference about 3 weeks ago, and it was called off becuase US weapons inspectors found nothing to indicate Iran was involved. Some Gemeral, who reports directly to Bush was to break the news, and when they found out there was no "news" to report they called off the conference and have kept the repot quiet since.
The AP huh. They are quite reliable. How about the "liberal bible...NYTimes???.........
May 5, 08 9:45 AM CDT
Hezbollah is helping to train Iraqi militants in Iran, the US claims in a report to Iraq???s government. The information, obtained during US questioning of captured Shiite fighters, suggests Iran is quietly aiding the militia, despite repeated claims it???s not interfering in internal Iraqi matters, the New York Times reports
Don't be dumb. Don't be foolish. These are the same people who want YOU and YOUR family either converted to Islam or die. Who threaten Israel and America with destruction. They have a very small window, to prevent bombs, destroying much of today's Iran.
NOBAMA!!!
Another unsupported rant from an unstable mind. That's surely going to change opinions.
Hey John, I know Holy is mis-guided, I've seen the US weapons inspectors report and it's not uncommon for rightwinger to think any "media" not owned by Murdock, is "liberal" or would be deceiving the public, we know better, I mean if she really wanted to know could probably get something from BBC news or other sources, maybe C-SPAN even.
So even though Holy is "lost", I don't think that means she does'nt love her country, just does'nt know how to stop the 'ABUSE".
HarleyH... er.. I mean HDavidson - You are quite a LIAR. The Press has showed time and time again tables FULL of weapons with Iranian markings. Google it and see, then dispute me.
They showed pics of weapons yes, agreed. However, Once the United States weapons and expolsives EXPERTS inspected them, OMG! what happened, NONE FROM IRAN!!!!!!!!!!!
I know the truth, it is you mam who needs to get your info from someplace besides FOX Limbaugh ;)
Kevin Bergner, go from there, google him and see who he is according to the White House web site and then see what he does for Bush...
The cry of sexism rings hollow when you consider that Sen. Clinton's pitch is she wins the L'il Abner vote (hard working white males in Appalachia) and therefor can win those states in November. She did not win those votes because she was a woman. She won those votes because she is white. But you can bet, L'il Abner ain't gonna vote for Daisy Mae in the fall.
C'mon, give an honest woman a break. She's just calling it like she sees it. By the way, I know plenty of men that are way bigger whiners than most women.
Try using lube ;)
Very true that men can be big whiners. As to calling it like she sees it, yes, that is the problem. Just as called those sniper bullets heading straight for her. The way she sees reality is a problem.
The fact is, there've been far, far more comments ABOUT sexism than actual sexism. Of course there are males who are displeased with a female candidate. There're also plenty, plenty of females who support Hillary mainly because of her gender. The same thing could be said of racism - one may argue it favors Clinton, while another could point out the overwhelmingly support of blacks that Obama received.
One difference I would note, however, is that Clinton did portray herself as the "female" candidate. Talking now about sexism would be the same as if Jesse Jackson were to say he lost because of racism - it doesn't make sense, because YOU injected gender into this campaign. It can't benefit her both ways - if she wants to be a fighter for women, she gets more support of females, and probably less support from males. It's a complicated case, but I would say that, based on the fact that 80% of the country is white and 60% of the democratic base is female, Clinton benefited both from counter-sexism and white racism against Obama. Nonetheless, no one should ignore the barriers that Clinton had crossed, in this campaign or in her life.
Actually women make up just under 51% of the total population of the US, Blacks 12.8%.
So yes Hillary got a BIG boost from women, and Obama a boost from Blacks, but look at the "MATH"
51% vs 12.8% come one...And Obama is wining, in every catagory, if you count EVERY vote (caucus', FL/MI) he still wins. It is clear who America is backing, Tell me at what point did Obama have to dip into his own bank to fund his campiagn?
The RNC and John McBush were only able to out raise Obama by 3mil, of course they don't mention what the DNC has raised...lol
It has somehting to do with gender and race for sure, look at WVa. However, it has much more to do with each candidate and how they are preceived and what they stand for, when you get down to that, Obama is virtually untouchable, he has at no point comprimised his character, the same can NOT be said for the other two candidates running. That is why he wins over and over, and came from behind to take the lead.
Oops -- for all you hypersensitive people out there -- "mankind" --> "humankind" --> "all life on earth".
There, that should be inclusive enough, and maybe closer to the truth.
This recent article in the Economist:
http://www.economist.com/displayStory.cfm?source=hptextfeature&story_id=11449804
says that women might actually be smarter than men, except maybe at geometry and opening peanut butter jars.
Maybe that's why younger women aren't full of despair and rage over the outcome of the Democratic primaries. They will inherit the future, and sooner rather than later, they'll field a worthy candidate for president.
This one is not a standard bearer for feminism. She's the poster child for dynasticism, nepotism, and raw hunger for power. That she bungled her campaign so thoroughly is a boon to mankind.
Much has been made over the last several months about how the Democratic party can possibly nominate Barack Obama over Hillary Clinton. Well, Senator Clinton welcome to the world of men . . . and women . . . and political power . . . now, an even playing field, where here you and your feminist forebears have labored endlessly for your right to compete. And you blew it. Here's a thought: perhaps Hillary Clinton has, for all intents and purposes, lost the Democratic nomination because (at least under the current DNC rules) . . . she got beat.
Endless articles have been written about what went wrong with the Hillary Clinton campaign. Numerous reasons have been given for how such a vaunted politician and equally-vaunted campaign could go so far off-track, from her reliance on ???inevitability???. to her reliance to her failure to fight for all the pledged delegates possible, to her reliance on campaign advisers valued more for their loyalty than for their vision or their ability to get the job done. In sum, Senator Clinton has wholly mismanaged her campaign for the Democratic nomination. And despite arguments to the contrary, athletic contests are deemed over well prior to the final buzzer by both the victor and the vanquished. One can often see both professional and college athletes vacating football fields and basketball courts prior to the final buzzer when the winning score is too far out of reach. But you don't see those losing the basketball game then approaching the referees asking for all those 1-point free throws to now count as 3-pointers.
By comparison alone, Senator Clinton's gross mismanagement should make clear to everyone, whether black, white, male, female, gay, straight, Catholic, Protestant, liberal, conservative or centrist, or ???other???, the Democratic nomination must go to the candidate who has been the most-prepared, the most detail-oriented, the hardest-working, ready, willing and able to compete from buzzer to buzzer . . . because it's not going to get any easier in the GE or the WH. The nominee should then be the person with an uncanny ability to gather around him those who are not only loyal, but sticklers for details, with the knowledge and skills required to get the job done.
Ultimately, it would appear Senator Clinton has fallen victim, not to misogyny and the misery of her gender as she and her supporters would like to suggest and have us believe, but to the arrogance of power, which as it happens . . . dare I say it? . . . befalls both men and women. Even more sad, however, is the sentiment from some women that they would vote for John McCain over Barack Obama, even though Clinton's policies better mirror Obama's policies than McCain's. It appears these women simply want a woman, any woman, in the White House, and perhaps did not, and will not, exercise their right to vote based on their own independent judgment . . . the right to an intelligent vote for which their feminist forebears labored endlessly.
I don't see much sexism when it comes to Clinton. She is not a likable candidate and her ambition clearly is stronger than ;anything else such as ethical behavior. I don't care much for Ms. Clift as her whining on TV is quite grating, but she is right on this issue at this time. I believe most Americans would support a woman for president, just not Hillary. The irony is that she has a better chance than Obama to beat McCain because Obama is now being revealed for what he is - a lightweight leftie with annoying and irresponsible buddies. I would also add that many feminists should stop over-analyzing every statement or action through the lense of sexism. The hyper-sensitivity actually hurts their cause because if the price of electing a woman is to be called a sexist if you don't vote for her won't fly - at some point American men will say enough is enough and won't vote for a woman because they are tired of being painted as sexist neanderthals (ironic? yes). For example, what would be the reaction by feminists if a Madame President was criticized in the WSJ for not being tough enough on a foreign policy/national defense issue? If they start whining about the president being critized for being a woman, or if the president appears to whine using these theme, then you can bet it will be a one-term presidency. Americans will reject presidential policy and the president if her leadership gets embroiled in gender politics.
"Obama is now being revealed for what he is - a lightweight leftie with annoying and irresponsible buddies."
You do realize that this means that seasoned, experienced Hillary got her a$$ whupped by a lightweight leftie with annoying and irresponsible buddies. How does that make her case for greater electability?
DNC meeting wil resume at 4:15 on C-Span. Re-runs are being shown now. Voters gave the DNC the right to make rules. And those rules were made before the primary elections began this year.
They are attempting to change the rules in the middle of the game (no law allows this). That is cheating: Cheating an election is illegal (unamerican, an embarrassment to America). But Obama is willing to seat half the delegates, since that is the automatic rule, (just to have this issue resolved now). Actually, it's already resolved, but Clinton cheaters want to change the rules.
Hillary Clinton exhibits the characteristics of a sociopath. There's nothing sexist about that.
Father Pfleger's vile message is the message of the Obama campaing. Clinton run on issues, and she first went negative in Texas with the 3 A.M.-ad and still within her issue of experience. Obama-campaign ran subtle negativiies from day one, one day he opens the door to call her assasine, evil and killer on the RFK-remarks, and the next day he plays all innocent forgiving "excusing her" blaming fatighe, when it was not even a gaffe. Not like his "Sweetiegate" or all those Auschwitz lies he told of his grandfather, which she left (and unfortunately the press too). He disrespects her daily and plays dirty. It's easy winning elections when you bully opponent out before election day. Obama is a thug, he's done it before. Stand up to the bully! If anyone can do it, she can.
Good points. Obama has indeed used classic Chicago attack politics, using surrogates to stir up the pot and then acting all innocent. There was a great peice on the TV news the other day about how Obama in his first campaign ousted a longtime community organizer from the ballot by successful gettin just enough of her petition signatures thrown off. It was legally done, but typical old style Chicago politics. People, and the media, need to stop just reading Obama's book and do some real investigating. Obama has light credentials and frankly hasn't done that much to effect the everyday lives of his constituents, when he actually goes to work and doesn't vote "present" As the likely nominee he'll get trounced unliess hi supporters only vote for him becasue he is young which is being ageist and stereotypical, and not voting on the real issues and on his judgment which doesn't impress me regarding Todd Stroger, Tony Rezko, Michael Pfleger (who has donated money to his campaigns in the past) etc....
The claim of sexism is a dodge. We are definitely overdue for a woman president, but Hillary Clinton is the wrong woman. Distrusting her is not proof of sexism. Many people, myself included, dislike her not because she is a woman but because she is a deluded, narcissistic, power hungry liar. If she were a man with the same set of negative attributes, I would dislike her just as strongly. Take George W. Bush, for example.

The only ones I ever see or hear screaming for Hillary to get out are her own supporters who constantly post the rhetoric on every blog they hang out in. Hillary Clinton is for Hillary Clinton. She could care less about the FLA. & MI voters or her supporters who have given every cent of theirs to her campaign. What a dutiful flock of sheep they are.
Obama will grin and grin when he loses to McCain as a result of millions of Clintonites voting McCain.
What's so terrible about a contested election?
Why shouldn't Hillary fight to the last?
That makeseminent sense.
It gives the electorate in every part of the country a chance to judge between her and Obama.
That is why the VOTERS have steadily favoured a contest going on to the finish.
Those who scream that Hillary must get out forget the opinion of the VOTERS.
Hillary tries to get as good a result as she can, even if she is beaten. It makes all the difference in the world whether one is beaten by a very tiny margin (as seems likely with Hillary) or by a wide one after quitting early.
She can go to the voters in 2012 and ask their support for another run with the confidence that she has been proven to be a tough, tenacious fighter.
Obama will lose in 2008 with many Democratic voters like me going for McCain.

The Obama camp seems to have successfully inserted the accusation of "drama" into the campaign, as a put-down of Hillary Clinton. It is being parroted everywhere as the newest justification for Hillary-hate. I object to the word, which implies excess emotionality, as in "dram queen". It is a sexist construct- overly emotional , over-reacting female. Obama also frequently described Clintons' statements/ideas as :"silly". Another trivializing term . Personally, I hope HRC goes out kicking and screaming with as much drama as she can muster. She, and we, have been totally dissed in this campaign, and now she is being told to be a "good girl" and suck it all up for the sake of the party. And we are all being told to be "good girls" and come on home and vote for Obama in Nov. Uhhh...I don't think so. Let the drama begin.
Your definition of drama is intelligent but falls short. Personally, I am tired of all Clinton drama. If HRC won the nomination or White House, many of us Dems would be anticipating the next Lewinski, the next lie they were foolishly caught in...you name it. Yuk! But, I do appreciate the passion and loyalty HRC supporters such as yourself portray.
Wow Eleanor playing with the boys has turned you into a women hater. Pointing out sexism is not whining. Senator Clinton has every right to keep on running in such a close race as her supporters have a right to keep on supporting her. I guess women should just shupt and get back to the kitchen. I don't own allegiance to any party but to what I think it's right. This primary season has turned me oft the so called Democratic party which has been hijacked by the left. Time for a viable third party.
