Just a few facts- Mr. Ickes said he was appauled at the decision on yesterday, but Mr. Ickes were in the same meeting months ago when they set these penalties for the democratic party, along with other Senators and Govenors, Hillary and Obama both were aware of this so this is nothing new. Now since Hillary is behind let's count the all the delegates, Well they were stripped before there was even an election and Obama followed the rules and went so far as to remove his name BECAUSE he was told they could NOT campaign in those states and the voters were told that as well. I am happy that they considered compromising and granted 1/2 delegates so we can move on and unite. BUT now for the Clinton supporters thats not good enough they now wants the entire delegate seated, well did you watch the votes counted down on YESTERDAY- CLinton had 13 supporters on the panel and when the vote went down for full seats, it was rejected 15-12 because a few of her OWN SUPPORTERS thought this was unfair and there should be some form of penalty for early voting. I bet Obama will be blamed for this as well when her people didnt even support it. I have realized that some people will not come together with Obama no matter what.. Hillary ran a long hard fought race and the American people chose Obama so why can't we move forward to challenge McCain......Obama 08'

FYI.. anti war stance!?! His voting record in the senate is identical to Hillary Clinton. There are no records of him being strongly associated witth any anti war movement except for that single speech! Neither did he show any leadership in the senate on this issue. The only two real anti war candidates in this race were Ron Paul and Dennis Kucchinich. The media have completely fallen down on the job questioning Obama's anti war stance and it will come back to haunt us in the fall!
As for Hillary's vote Even Hans Blix has acknowledged that the only way of getting Saddam to allow inspectors back into Iraq was to threaten him with UN resolution that threatened Military action in case of noncompliance.
Hillary also clearly states in her floor speech "I urge the President to spare no effort to secure a clear, unambiguous demand by the United Nations for unlimited inspections. ...My vote is not, however, a vote for any new doctrine of pre-emption, or for uni-lateralism, or for the arrogance of American power or purpose -- all of which carry grave dangers for our nation, for the rule of international law and for the peace and security of people throughout the world. ......A vote for it is not a vote to rush to war; it is a vote that puts awesome responsibility in the hands of our President and we say to him - use these powers wisely and as a last resort. "
The decision to not allow those inspections to continue was Bush's alone! The only thing we can fault Hillary with is her belief that a president would not lie about the facts or the urgency where matters of such grave importance were concerned!
As to the Trinity Church and its divisive agenda..I am quite sure that Obama does not believe in that particular philosophy..(in fact I am convinced he cynically stayed part of the church in order to profit from Wright's infence on te congregation) but it is clear from the latest video doing (Pfleger) the rounds that a a large portion of the his congregation certainly does believe in this divisive rhetoric .. he has been 20 years in this church yet has obviously not managed to convert this small group of people to his philosophy of "unity and the brotherhood of man" and the yet the press has annointed him the messiah and we expect him to bring together the country and the world!!
As to Hillary Clinton "only discovering her inner feminist only late in the campaign" ..she has a documented record of working and demonstarted leadership for women empowerment and children's rights and incidentally AA rights since she was a teenager in college if only you'd bother to do a modicum of research and get your facts straight ! It is not some philosophy she abandons when its no longer convenient but her holy grail!
What is it with women who think that dissing other women's achievements is the only way to demonstrate that they are equal to the job.

People really got snowed with the spin that vote to authorize use of force in Iraq. God bless our electorate, many of whom still believe that Obama actually voted against it! He did not. He was not a Senator at the time. Obama has successfully minimized Clinton's 35 years of experience because she was the untitled follower spouse. Nevermind that she did as much as she could to advance the rights and living conditions of all people with whatever role she held. According to Obama, it didn't count because she didn't hold the title herself. And yet, with a straight face, he claims his opinion on the war vote counts. This as prettymuch been the strategy of the Obama campaign, which is why nearly half of the Democrats still can't get behind him.

By the way, she hasn't lost yet. Why? Because he hasn't won yet. You have to reach a certain number of delegates to win and he hasn't. The only way he can win is if he can convince her to agree to lose. He's trying. He's got his surrogates in the media trying. And yet he still can't close the deal.

I heard Hillary will be running as an INDEPENDENT. Interesting, huh? Apparently a lot of potential McCain't voters will cross party lines if she does.

  • Posted By: Starfan @ 06/01/2008 8:46:23 AM

She will continue to whine but under the guise of Bill Clinton, Lanny Davis, Kiki McClane (sp?) Howard Wolfson, Harold Ikes and host of apologist , lest we forget her boastfully saying if the heat is too great, get out of the kitchen., There is no one to blame for her loss but the candidate herself. Her positions and accent changed depending upon her audience and we never knew who would appear tomorrow -- the fighter; the woman; the victim or the whiner. The fact she hired someone from Hollywood to tutor her speaks volumes.

If the running of her campaign is the way she would run the country, (never planning past Super Tuesday, complaining at each turn and $21 million in debt) we are fortunate to be rid of her.

Don't feel sorry for Hillary. She spared us having to learn precisely where she and her husband made their millions in 2007 (which should would only disclose were she the nominee) and suffer buyers remorse.

Senator Hillary Clinton has shown endurance and strength in the face of adversity. For months the media and some members of the DNC have been asking her to give up her campaign for the Presidential Primary. Hillary's supporters believe she is the best candidate with the best health care program and the best plan for the economy. No matter how this primary ends, Hillary has been a winner. By staying in this Presidential Primary until the end she has made history. Hillary Clinton is an American Hero! I proudly support her for President of the United States.

    • Posted By: HDavidson @ 05/31/2008 6:20:43 PM

Hillary is NOT a HERO, that's Laughable, she in her actions has set the womens movement back years, she has shown nothing but an undying desire for POWER at all costs, shown NO regard to the party, the rules, or the people of this country. You ALL seem to forget when she was in the lead, she had NO problem turning a deaf ear to FL and MI, even going so far as to ACTUALLY SAY (her words) "MI DOES NOT COUNT". That was before she realized she was going to lose.
The word "Hero" is being bastardized by the "right" to justify killing our kids, and glorifying a man who served 20hrs, crashed 5 jets, and was shot down...hero?
She is a "fighter", she IS NOT A CHAMPION! and NOT A HERO!
A hero thinks of more than just them self, and she has failed over and over to show that quality. We have had 8yrs of a man who can't admit he's wrong...on anything...EVER! We do not need a woman who is the same.

As an Illinois voter who voted for Obama when he ran for US Senator, I now know that Obama is not change we can believe in. Obama is an example of politics as usual in Illinois. On to the convention.

Hillary Clinton took the feminist movement backward 5 decades when she stood by her cheating, womanizing and sexually harrassing husband Bill. She didn't stand up for herself and tell him to stop humiliating her with his multiple affairs or else she would kick him to the curb. No she stuck with him so she could cash in her "Friends of Bill" votes when she made her power grab for the White House. She gets no respect from me and I am old enough of a woman to remember the feminist movement. And she is delusional enough to think she is a role model for our young women? For what ....marital emotional abuse?

    • Posted By: babzter @ 06/01/2008 8:40:00 AM

I've been a feminist all my life, and I've been married many, many years. Everyone makes mistakes, male and female. Marriage is about love and forgiveness--the easy thing is to walk away, as more than 50% do. The difficult thing is to stay, work it out, and commit to honesty and fidelity. You don't throw 20 years away for some meaningless dalliance. I speak from experience.

Some women throw themselves at powerful men, and these men are so easy because they have enormous egos. Some get caught, most don't. BTW, almost every president engaged in long-term or frequent affairs. This does not excuse Mr. Clinton's behavior, but it does put it in perspective.

Eleanor, the primary has not been fair. The entire process has been very unfair and flawed. From NH and IA giving waiver while FL and MI were denied the same to TX two step voting and now stealing pledged delegates from Hillary to give to Obama. Where will this end? One must be insane to think that caucus events were effective and honest elections. And now you think that Obama has won fair and sqaure, this is lunacy to say the least.

Clinton reserves right to go before the crudentials commity...wwwwwwwaaaaaaahhhhhh!!!!

Yeah she cares about this country and it's people, wait that's not her, she's a "fighter" for self, herself only.

What a DISGRACE!!! Shame on you, and some day the shame you have brought to this country.

Oh yeah, one has to have a conscience to feel shame...
and have character to have a conscience...

She has failed to uphold the standards of a presidential candidate, let alone a President.

    • Posted By: babzter @ 06/01/2008 8:26:30 AM

It's just shameful how some people want to use all the resources of the democratic process. She should just rollover, after all, that's how we got Mondale, Carter, and Dukakis. They had those delegates sewn up tight!

Thank you, Eleanor Clift. Well said. I am 60, white and a woman proud to be a woman and proud to support Obama because of his sophistication, smarts, balance, and, above all, empathy and understanding of himself. Perhaps he can do therapy with HIllary about things such as how to choose a man, how to be herself, how to care about others, how to compete and how to lose.

Eleanor, your corrosive writings against Mrs. Clinton are very unfair and often infantile. I assume that you are jealous of Hillary's success. I think that your hatred of her has clouded your judgement so much that you have abandoned the noble journalism and fallen to your vomit of disgraceful writings. Hillary has been treated very unfairly by your likes in the media and in this race. Your constantly rubbing it in is disgusting and degnigrading. You are no longer an honest journalist. Your writings about Hillary has never been objective and I think it is time you quite writing this kind of abrassive trash.

I hope women finally wake up and go back to being housewives. Their sole purpose in life is to please the man when he wants (best look good girls) and have babies.

None of this silly whining women stuff for us.

There is a reason women are the last of the slaves on the planet (sex slavery is a big business for the powerful WAshington men/International dealers).

Go Home, Ladies and get on your knees and ...
    pray...

I watched with interest yesterday???s DNC Rules and Bylaws Committee decision meeting on Florida and Michigan. I must say that it is surprising how the Rules and Bylaws Committee members injected RACIAL HATRED into their decision.

I noticed at the end of the decisions, where members like Everett Ward shared a very biased and personal attack on member Harold Ices. Everett sarcastically injected his HARSE Racial Opinions into his decision.

I do not think that was called for. How do his comments bring the Democrats together? Why hasn???t the press said anything about this? It also seemed that Co-Chair Alexis Herman would pound the desk with her justice hammer whenever Clinton Supporters cheered. Yet, when Obama supporters and comments were harshly made and his crowd cheered, she would just let it ride and smiled.

If this is a picture of how the tables are now turned and blacks are in charge, then why isn???t the press talking about this? They are injecting RACE into the campaign. I think blacks find it hard to be fair when it affects another race. We saw this in the O.J. trial and must mebers in the jury were black.

These types of racial bias are a strong indication that RACE SWAYED the DECISION of the committee. Why is the press allowing this type of behavior to continue when it pertains to Obama?
    Why hasn't Newsweek mentioned this?

Professor Karen O'Connor used the magic words - heir apparent. I have never been a supporter of HIllary Clinton, but she, the media and the party elite seemed so sure that she would be the nominee, that I felt it was all over. Her policies are more in line with my views than any of the Republicans, so I would have voted for her in the general election. But when the primary rolled around in my state of MI, I voted Uncommitted, if only to send my tiny little message that I didn't want her.

Eleanor, you are really out of touch. When I think of Hillary Clinton I think "smart and strong". The word whiny does not even enter the picture. Get a clue. Clinton is right. She is the stronger candidate against McCain.
