Obama is a sexist. Remember all those sweetie comments? Whose with me on making a 3rd party? Our no. 1 rule will be that everyone's votes should always count and that everyone can always vote in a free and fair SECRET ballot. NO CAUCUSING! Which easily leads to voter intimidation and disenfranchisement. Let's have a true democratic party. The DNC can go to hell and take their crap rules with them!

      Were the caucuses Obama's idea?

    • Posted By: alphabetsoup @ 05/30/2008 6:47:05 PM

One 'sweetie' does not compute to "all those." If you don't like the rules, change them before the next election, not in the middle of the game.

      • Posted By: News and Notes @ 05/30/2008 11:19:28 PM

Voters didnt change the rules, the DNC decided the punishment

and hillary is a racist!!! she thinks women should support her because of her gender she's not behind because she's a woman, she's behind because obama ran a better campaign and played by the rules she knew full well these votes didnt count ahead of time/its just that now she's behind and now she wants them to count so she can win/ its not about fighting for the country it's about her personal ambition and any woman who believes otherwise is disllusional. this woman has had every advantage, connections, ex president as spouse, money name recognition and still got her ass whupped!!! and that is not sexism its plain fact. DEAL with it!!!! Now she's encouraging people to hold a protest she doesnt care about the rules she will do anything to win/no class no dignity no shame anything goes. And then poor patheic women like yourself fall for it hook line and sinker. I am one woman who has had enough and if she manages to steal yes steal this election. i will vote with my feet and stay at home. hillary makes me want to vomit

Bonnie S., you said a mouthful. I'm a 39-year old white woman and Hillary and her ability to harness bitter women's venom and use it for her advantage sickens me. You are being manipulated! Wake up, please!

    • Posted By: News and Notes @ 05/30/2008 11:25:26 PM

nobody is being manipulated. Did you watch the debates? Do you know Hillary's policy issues? she has the wisdom and connectinos to get things done. Lets just count the votes

  • Posted By: iamthepan @ 05/30/2008 6:18:06 PM

I am a 55 year old white woman from Florida who did not vote in the primary because they said it wouldn't count. Believe me Barack would have gotten a lot more votes if it had been a serious election!

    • Posted By: leighg1 @ 05/30/2008 10:10:38 PM

Yes. My sister and her husband are in the Univ. of Florida. They did not go vote for Obama because they thought it would not count!!! How difficult is it for Clinton supporters to understand that? I remembered Hillary said they are uneducated.

      • Posted By: News and Notes @ 05/30/2008 11:24:27 PM

  • Posted By: rainbow68 @ 05/30/2008 6:18:37 PM

No! Florida and Michigan broke DNC rules. Hillary was only too happy to comply with those rules until she realized her campaign was sinking. Now, she compares Florida's "disenfranchisement" of voters to african americans' poor treatmeant in the civil rights era. How low can she go? I guess we'll find out.

    • Posted By: News and Notes @ 05/30/2008 11:23:11 PM

regardless of her motivatio, you have to count Florida democrats votes if you want them to vote in november

  • Posted By: Core Democrat in Texas @ 05/30/2008 7:23:56 PM

Sexism is still very much alive in the U.S., especially stereotypes about acceptable personality traits for women. But the only thing that women, and men who care about the future of their daughters, can do is continue to speak up whernever you see it and stand up against it. I'm grateful for the WomenCount group.
Whatever decision the DNC Committee makes, all any of can do is live with it; the Rules give the committees those powers. But we all retain the right to control our own votes and money; and neither Obama nor the DNC will get mine.

    • Posted By: judyc @ 05/30/2008 11:22:10 PM

Sour grapes. Go ahead, cut off your nose to spite your face.

  • Posted By: Actually @ 05/30/2008 11:22:09 PM

Rules are rules and Hillary agreed to these rules. You can bet if Obama was winning she would NOT be trying to get the rules changed as she is now. She always says she has the support of the "white, hardworking, uneducated voters". This is not true, they are not uneducated, they are uninformed. Hillary has put this thought in their head over and over to change the rules that she agreed to for these states not to count. The Clinton's have always worked hard to change the rules and metrics when it benefitted them and Rush Limbaugh knew that when he created Operation Chaos to have all Republican's vote for Hillary once McCain was chosen. He wanted to keep Hillary in it so she would cause these kinds of problems. Rush knows the Clintons and how it's always about them. They know what they are doing is wrong, their campaign chairman even said so in his book. And for Hillary to encourage women to show up and make this election about sexism is quite disturbing because being a woman is what got her this far in this campaign. Too many woman have said we are only voting for her because we want a woman, any woman as president. It doesn't mean they like her or what she stands for and that just makes this election even more about sexism and that's sad when our country is in the state it is in.

Don't be mistaken for it is more than just women's groups that are pissed at the party leadership and the super delegates. I am a white male who supports Hillary as the first Woman President of the United States of America. And, I do know that we others, be it white male etc, are totally put off by the hijacking of the party. This does not portend well for November.

    • Posted By: busby @ 05/30/2008 10:28:25 PM

Did you see the CNN piece today? For a nonpolitician, Obama certainly knows how to game the system.
In his first run for the IL senate, he had three opponents on the ballot. Using a rule peculiar to the Chicago tamany hall style of politics, obama hired a bevy of lawyers to challenge each of his opponents' petitions. Petitions were taken to court based on things like petitions were printed instead of written, etc. All opponents were taken off the ballot and they never ran for office again. Obama won the senate seat because he was the ONLY one on the ballot. It's not by accident that this campaign has been so devisive. Obama and Axelrod are very savvy politicians whose motto is "win at all costs". Politics will be no different in this country - it will be more political and more secretive. I really don't understand why people can't or won't see through this deception. Obama is ruthless and not a uniter. Division seems to give him the upper hand. I won't be voting for someone who is so transparent to me.

      • Posted By: News and Notes @ 05/30/2008 10:45:47 PM

Obama is nothing more than an inexperienced, smooth taling, opportunistid, self sering politician. I'm tired of all the insults his supporters are levelling against fellow Democrats!

        • Posted By: judyc @ 05/30/2008 11:19:28 PM

Whose campaign is win at all costs???????????????????????

    • Posted By: bennettsusan @ 05/30/2008 10:10:33 PM

Ha! Other than the fact that you are clearly passionate about Hillary...or you just plain don't want Obama, there is simply no logic to support your theories of hijacking. Out of respect for Clinton, they have allowed this process to continue and what they have recieved in return is nothing short of black mail from the Clinton campaign. No one has stopeed the process from playing out no matter what Clinton says to the contrary and if she doesn't like the media stating the fact that she needs a miracle to win, too bad. It is the truth.

You are out of touch with reality if you think the party has somehow treated her badly. She had the brand name recognition, the Washington establishment, the leaders in most states endorsing her, and a huge bankrole at the start of this campaign. Fact is, she was overconfident and ran a poor campaign. If it were she instead of Obama with the seemingly delegate lead, the party would be ralliying around her like they are him. The party knows that her desperate attempt to stay in the race is hurting who will most likely be the nominee and hurting the party. There is no way that she does not know this but is willing to pretend otherwise. To unite the party they need her to bow out gracefully, and have been giving her the room to do this with dignity. She obviously doesn't care if the dems win in November if she isn't the nominee. It is clear who the hijacker here is....Hillary Clinton.

      • Posted By: News and Notes @ 05/30/2008 10:46:49 PM

If obama is the nomniee and his supporters keep insulting Hillary and her supporters, he will lose the election in November

  • Posted By: vakosh @ 05/30/2008 9:24:26 PM

If Obama had been a white woman, he would never even have gotten on the ballot, because of his empty resume.

    • Posted By: judyc @ 05/30/2008 11:17:27 PM

He would have if his last name was Clinton--their resumes are equal.

    • Posted By: judyc @ 05/30/2008 11:16:07 PM

He would have if his last name had been Clinton--their resumes are equal--Obama may have more legislative experience. She gave good parties for 8 years--can't count that as experience.

  • Posted By: cm4297 @ 05/30/2008 9:32:49 PM

It is amazing how people feel that being black in this country somehow is a privilege. Lets review Hillary's white privilege. First, her name alone screams entitlement. Second, she has no more legislative experience than Obama. I do not count decorating the White House, shaking hands, or being married to Bill as diplomacy of any sort. Also, she continues to use the victimized white female persona to gain sympathy.

    • Posted By: News and Notes @ 05/30/2008 11:13:32 PM

Hillary has 7 years in the senate, Obama 3. Hillary was a brilliant observer, listerner, and learner while in the white house. She has spent her entire life working tirelessly as an advocate for children and civil rights

  • Posted By: cm4297 @ 05/30/2008 9:34:30 PM

Correction, Obama did call for a negotiation with FL and MI, cause remember a loser is a loser. Hillary CAN'T mathematically win. I guess doing math is another plus for the educated voters.

    • Posted By: News and Notes @ 05/30/2008 11:12:16 PM

educated voters expect their votes to count. another divisive Obama supporter with a superiority complex

  • Posted By: an obama girl @ 05/30/2008 10:18:16 PM

    Mchieco..

If it were the other way around and Clinton had the deligates to win....The press and the DNC would have written Obama off months ago and Sharpton and Jackson would have been saying, "The country was not ready for a black man."

Hillary was always supposed to win. The press and country has continued to give the monster repect because of her husband. Hillary has been given a free ride by this country and it is time for her to step aside and get off the bus!

    • Posted By: 40yr old typical white dude in NC @ 05/30/2008 10:26:30 PM

Actually, sorry to disagree with you, but, I think had the roles been reversed, Obama would've graciously conceded when it was apparent that he was mathematically eliminated.

      • Posted By: News and Notes @ 05/30/2008 11:09:49 PM

If he were losing Obama would have fought even harder. He would have been encouraged to take it to the convention

  • Posted By: rockygood1 @ 05/30/2008 10:54:54 PM

I would also like to comment on these pastors and their totally RADICAL (yes, I said radical) ranting.
How can you not think someone is not radical and racist when they are screaming at the top of their lungs such vile, hateful things. But the REAL thing that was disturbing was that the WHOLE congregation was on it's feet cheering him on. Obama should have TOTALLY and completely removed himself from that church and anyone else that is spewing such hatred long ago.

    • Posted By: News and Notes @ 05/30/2008 11:02:42 PM

NOT TO MENTION A WOMEN THAT HAS NOT PAID HER CAMPAIGN BILLS...SO THOSE BLUE COLLAR VOTERS WAIT FOR THEIR MONEY. • Posted By: jordy68 @ 05/30/2008 9:53:14 PM

Since when is being "strong" the same as lying, encouraging racism, and exploiting blue collar workers?
I remember when strong women would say "we can do the same work as a man as good as a man or better." Now we have people saying we'll take anyone . Please , for all that women have worked for over the last 100 years (at least) do not support this woman. Do not allow Hillary to be the representation of American women for all the world to see. integrity be damned.

I am a 58 year old white woman NOT supporting Hillary. I too have faced sexism, but my life struggles pale against racism. I am tired of her whining and sense of entitlement. I was annoyed at the way her healthcare agenda was dismissed and the hypocrisy of the right--criticizing her for standing by Bill while lauding Republican wives that stand by their men (family values) I worked in DC and while there was sexism, things were much improved from when I grew up, and women wanting to advance. There are all kinds of isms standing in people's way. MI and FL broke the rules

    • Posted By: News and Notes @ 05/30/2008 10:57:46 PM

Hillary supporters are struggling from racism by Obama supporters. FL and MI are not objects, we are democrats who voted. When you vote, your vote counts. Period

  • Posted By: rainbow68 @ 05/30/2008 7:21:04 PM

Now the caucuses are unfair? How funny. Everything's to blame except for Hillary herself. Face it, she laid a goose egg.

    • Posted By: News and Notes @ 05/30/2008 10:55:56 PM

caucuses do not ensure voters privacy. but, they are acceptable as of right now, so thats the way it is. however, any argument can be made to superdelegates, including this one. it doesnt necessarily mean they will listen, but the idea can be pitched. I do think, however, the nominating process is crazy

    • Posted By: distortitmore @ 05/30/2008 7:50:22 PM

You are correct, the caucuses are unfair. Take a look at Colorado. They used Chicago politics in order to get Obama the number of delegates he was awarded. If they would have conducted the caucuses fairly I would not be upset but I saw, at every level, the manipulation, each event completely administered by the Obama supporters, and tactics ('chaos') used at EVERY event to present the affect that their efforts were not calculated. Oh but they were....And by the way, I witnessed the same thing in Texas. I will never vote for that man.

Your comments are just biased ranting. We started with caucuses as part of this election process as they have been forever. HRC didn't complain about them. She saw them as irrelevant and put no effort into them. It was a major blunder. For her, or her supporters, to now suggest that the caucuses are unfair because of this is disgusting. By the way, I live in Texas, and went to the caucus. There were people there for both Clinton and Obama. The fact that you somehow believe Obama's supporters or campaign had an unfair advantage in the process is delusional. Hillary just blew it.

The same people who claim that rules are rules are the same people who in 2000 demonstrated when the supream court followed the law (stronger than rules) and awarded the election to bush.

What level of hypocracy is displayed by OBAMA and his followers. But no wonder, what can you expect from Communists???

  • Posted By: pugs @ 05/30/2008 7:33:28 PM

Thank you nice article. You know I wish some mdia outlet would really explain Florida because it is not as simple as people put it. In 2000 the craziness of having a man be president when someone else might have truly been voted for really well upset Floridian Dems period because the votes were not represented accordingly thanks to lack of certain rules. So fast forward to 2008 and the result of a long push by Florida dems was to finally have the rule that all votes could be counted, but thanks to the republican group it was a package deal to include moving the primary. Not many people know that it was a package deal that included primarily including the ability to have all votes counted that caused the demise of 2000 but also happened to include moving the primary. It was nice the movie about 2000 came out so at least some people can begin to realize the anti-american atmosphere we have to fight against here in Florida. We are in America and all votes should count as much back in 2000 as in 2008 so us Floridians will continue to fight for that simple thing that has long been taken for granted here in the mighty US of A. Like the movie someone please tell it how it really is. the sad thing is had they counted back in Jan it might have turned the tide on the entire nomination.
