Operation Cyclone was the code name for the United States Central Intelligence Agency program to arm the Afghan mujahideen during the Soviet war in Afghanistan, 1979 to 1989.[1] American funding begin with $20-30 million per year in 1980 and rose to $630 million per year in 1987

All is correct, EXCEPT the part about YOU being 17, in Afghanistan, in 1979, and shaking Osama's hand. YOU WERE NOT THERE IN '79. I very seriously doubt, you are a member past or present, of the USMC. A real Marine would not slander Sen McCain, like you do.

As for Hagee, I don't like his style. Screams a lot. But he is not wrong about much. He's one of Israel's strongest American supporters. As a matter of fact, Joe Lieberman is a guest speaker at his church, sometime soon. I am a HUGE fan of Rod Parsley. I can't think of a time I've ever disagreed with his views. And he preaches Life and Salvation.

Hope you had a good weekend. We have a family vacation in Fla next week. Remember to vote..........

I'd be curious to know which of the media started the "If you're for Hillary, how many of you wouldn't vote for Obama?" and vice versa polls. That's when the infighting within the party seemed to get really riled up. Like the Democratic party is being manipulated to keep the fight going to keep up the ratings.

I keep hearing the democratic thing to do is to seat all the delegates - but nothing could be further from the truth. The democratic process is about discussion, debate, compromise, and living with the results even when they may not be exactly what you wanted. This is exactly the process the DNC followed. They met, debated, and decided that 4 states could have early primaries. States interested in early primaries were encouraged to submit their applications, Florida and Michigan did, along with over a dozen other states. Four were selected, which did not include Florida and Michigan. It also didn't include a lot of other states. None of those states elected to move up their primaries - they lived with the results. But not Florida and Michigan - in an election year where the democratic party has a real opportunity to not only win the White House but also make strong gains in Congress, Florida and Michigan decided to throw a spanner in the works. Are we saying the democratic process is one were we discuss, debate, compromise, reach a result - and then those that don't like it are free to do whatever they want? I don't think so. Of course, I agree that it is not the voters fault that their leaders showed very poor judgement - hopefully the voters will take care of that problem come November - so I believe some accomdation is warranted, but as far as the Superdelegates from Michigan and Florida, the ones who created this mess - they should stay home!

    • Posted By: jourdan @ 05/31/2008 4:13:00 PM

      EXACTLY!!!

This is part of what is wrong with this contry today. People seem to think that no one should break the rules period - UNLESS - it adversly affects them. When these hypocrites are affected then all bets are off and they run crying and screaming about how unfair everyone is and the whole world is against us. If I was in Mi. or Fl I would be p*ssed at my representatives for getting my vote voided. I would start a patition drive to recall everyone of them and have them all replaced by a special election. Preferably to be held prior to August so a new vote on the two canidates could take place at no extra expense and then they would count. Unfortunately those two states seem to think it is the fault of the DNC and the rest of the world that they are not being counted.

Go after the real crooks of your election or get over it!

I agree. I live in Kentucky and I'm surrounded by republicans at work. I can assure you that they are loving Hillary right now. They comment on it everyday. Comments like "Thank God for Hillary, we was kinda worried until she started in on Obama." I try to argue, but deep down I fear they are right.

That's why her win in KY didn't mean A THING. They were laughing at her and she's too self-important to even realize it.

Oh, so if you're a Feminist and Hillary isn't nominated, maybe you would rather vote for McCain? He's not sexist, not at all. He only called his former wife a cu^t in public, then divorced her and married a rich heiress instead.

And please, please tell me that Bill Clinton is not a sexist. Tell me Billy Boy doesn't think of women as sex toys that exist only for his cigar-using pleasure.

Oh, yes, the Democratic party is sexist, because they don't shoo in Clinton. My eye! Hillary Clinton and Nancy Pelosi have more balls between them than ten men. I think the Dems have pushed women forward in a very aggressive way. And good for them.

I understand that you are upset that your candidate hasn't prevailed. I'm sorry that this is a disappointment. But let's put the blame where it belongs. Hillary allowed herself to be out-campaigned. Maybe if she hadn't listened to all those MEN who ran Bill's campaigns she would have done better against Obama.

      • Posted By: Nins @ 05/31/2008 1:46:52 PM

Holy Roller, of your entire rant, the only true fact is that I am a conservative Christian Republican. I do NOT support partial birth abortion. Neither does Obama, by the way. And Clinton, McCain and Obama are ALL pro-choice, so there is no difference there.

I do NOT support re-distribution of wealth, so you can keep your bigoted hands off of my bank account. My husband and I are doing very well, and we support several charities. Right now we pay about 15% in Federal income tax, even though we are in the top bracket. The top bracket is supposed to pay 36%, but the Bush tax cuts lowered it for us considerably. Obama plans to take those tax cuts away from us, and I actually don't care. Obama is going to use that money to strengthen America, so I am okay with it. And Obama is NOT going to raise taxes on the middle class. Instead he will raise it on the top 5% of income earners, and on corporations that ship jobs overseas. As a corporate owner myself, who employes only US citizens, I am disgusted at what I see other US corporations doing. I am an American, and my allegiance comes before my bottom line.

And I am not pro-Islam, nor am I anti-Islam. Islam is a religion with millions of honest, god-fearing members. There are also some Islamic terrorist organizations, and AM against them.

Get a life, Holy, Obama is going to win. You are just going to have to sit back and watch the world change for the better.

        God bless you.

Hussein NOT for partial-birth??? Whats this......
............Trust women to make own decisions on partial-birth abortion
Q: What us your view on the decision on partial-birth abortion and your reaction to most of the public agreeing with the court's holding?
A: I think that most Americans recognize that this is a profoundly difficult issue for the women and families who make these decisions. They don't make them casually. And I trust women to make these decisions in conjunction with their doctors and their families and their clergy. And I think that's where most Americans are. Now, when you describe a specific procedure that accounts for less than 1% of the abortions that take place, then naturally, people get concerned, and I think legitimately so. But the broader issue here is: Do women have the right to make these profoundly difficult decisions? And I trust them to do it. There is a broader issue: Can we move past some of the debates around which we disagree and can we start talking about the things we do agree on? Reducing teen pregnancy; making it less likely for women to find themselves in these circumstances.

Source: 2007 South Carolina Democratic primary debate, on MSNBC Apr 26, 2007

And McCain is Pro-Abortion??? Whats this.............
............Overturn Roe v. Wade, but keep incest & rape exceptions
McCain said he thought Roe v. Wade should be overturned and said he would support exceptions to a ban on abortion in cases of rape, incest, and when the mother???s life is in danger.

And Sen Clinton would sign a ban on partial-birth, with exceptions....
..........CLINTON: My opponent is wrong. I have said many times that I can support a ban on late-term abortions, including partial-birth abortions, so long as the health and life of the mother is protected. I???ve met women who faced this heart-wrenching decision toward the end of a pregnancy. Of course it???s a horrible procedure. No one would argue with that. But if your life is at stake, if your health is at stake, if the potential for having any more children is at stake, this must be a woman???s choice.

Ninny I'll get back on taxes, but will say this. If you're supposed to be in the 36% bracket, but are in the 15%...then it isn't the Bush tax cuts...Maybe someone should have the I.R.S. audit you.

You are so very uninformed on truth about issues. You LIE. And you are a ninny

Wrong again, Holy. Obama has voted AGAINST partial birth abortion, and AGAINST late term abortions. He also voted against a law mandating health care of aborted fetuses born alive, but this vote is taken out of context. The fetuses in question were all so young (less than 20 weeks gestation) that they could not have survived even given the best ICU care. Fetuses under 26 weeks never survive, so giving them medical care is a supreme waste of taxpayer dollars. Obama further comes out in praise of teen abstinence, and against the media portrayals of sex without intimacy. As a conservative, I can only agree with him in every point. You might even agree with him too, if you took the trouble to read what he writes and examine his actual record as a legislator, instead of getting your information from FoxNews.

As for McCain, he has been pro-abortion right up until this primary election. The GOP nearly died when it became obvious that McCain is the front runner, and McCain has been back-pedaled on his liberal views on abortion and immigration ever since, trying to appease the ultra right wing of the GOP.

And my income dictates that I would be taxed at 36%, except that Bush has allowed me to get away with 15%. It is perfectly legal, so go ahead and call the IRS. You make me laugh.

              2007: 100 percent
              2006: 100 percent

Voted against banning partial birth abortion

As for Bush cutting your tax rate by 21%. Again, your either really goofy or a LIAR....No such animal ninny.

Well, Holy, either you are stupid or just plain obstinate, but I wrote in my post above why the smear media says Obama voted for partial birth abortion. It is because he voted AGAINST a bill to mandate care to "pre-viable fetuses born alive." The first thing to note is "pre-viable." Fetuses below 26 weeks of age never survive, even with the best ICU care. Fetuses older than 26 weeks already have a law that mandates they be given medical care to save their lives. The bill you are referring to was promoted by the pro-Life camp and it was really quite clever. Had that bill passed it would have overturned Roe v. Wade, but only in the State of Illinois. It would have immediately been legally challenged by the pro-Choice groups and immediately struck down, since the Supreme Court has already ruled on that issue. Even though I am pro-Life, I could see how this bill was just a political ploy. It was designed to be used to smear the reputations of any politician who voted against it. It was not designed to protect the unborn, because the people who wrote it knew that the pre-viable fetuses in question would all die anyway.

This kind of thing is one of the reasons why Republicans like me are becoming disenfranchised from the GOP. Politics is not just some clever shell game that insiders play while we the taxpayers foot the bill for their power plays. We want our real issues heard and legislated for in effective ways.

Believe it or not, as a pro-Life Christian I think I have gotten better legislature out of Barack Obama than out of my own interest group. Obama has taken the time to listen to the religious voice and made some modest compromises with us, like voting against late term abortion and against partial birth abortion, even though he still has supported a woman's right to reproductive freedom by voting in favor of early abortions. To me, this is a good compromise. I know he's liberal at heart, but he listens to the other side, and that is important to me. It's a brave new world for conservative Republicans when we look to liberal Democrats to help us with our issues. But I'm a pragmatist.

And yes, NARAL supports Obama. Tell me something I don't already know.

And yes, Bush cut my taxes by 21%. It is the ONLY thing he did as President that I personally felt good about. But I would gladly go back to my old tax rate for a strong leader and a healthy economy.

Your in the top bracket and you are on a blog? Doing your own typing? Not on your yacht or jet going to Aspen? Highly suspect. The top bracket is less then 5% of Americans and is over $25 mil where the Bush cuts are.

          • Posted By: Nins @ 05/31/2008 2:36:27 PM

Hi, John, yes I do my own typing. I started life at the bottom and worked my way up. My Mom made me take typing lessons; she figured the world would always need secretaries, and it does, but it turns out instead of being one, I have one. I do not have a yacht or a jet. I'm not interested in showing off, or in wasting my money. I'm not famous, so I don't need the privacy of my own jet. I do fly first class, though, because it is so much more comfortable.

As for me being on a blog, why not? What, you think just because a person is successful, they wouldn't want to share their opinions? I have always been passionate about politics. And at this point in my life, I have some free time, which was not true when I was younger.

            • Posted By: JohnAdams4prez @ 05/31/2008 3:08:53 PM

Ok... I won't doubt you. I live in West Palm Beach and all of the 5% that come here have private jets for practical reasons, such as bypassing security lines, and flying into smaller FBO's closer to where deals are done and having to not be beholden to airline flight schedules. Maybe I have a wrong perception based on who I've met. If you really are in the top 5% and really are this grounded then my hats off to you and I wish you a hundred thousand blessings. Hope that my kids reach that plateau and stay grounded.

In Afganistan in 1979, Osama bin Laden was our ALLY. The US military trained bin Laden and gave him weapons to fight the USSR. So, if Pink Panther really did shake hands with bin Laden in 1979 in Afganistan, then he was only doing his job as an American, and I respect him for that.

And if you support McCain, why do you go around defending Clinton?

You are an idiot. We had no troops in Afghanistan, in 1979. There is a chance we had some C.I.A. advisers there. Not any 17 yr. old Marine. Every time you comment you get dumber. Reagan and Bush supported the Soviet revolt. Not Mr. Peanut. He was quite busy, rescuing our hostages from his buddy Khomeini. Hussein is as big a sissy as Carter. Very similar. Hussein is much more dangerous though.

Of course we had no troops in Afganistan in 1979, because to do so would have been waging war against the Soviet Union. We did have bin Laden there, fighting for us against the USSR, using American weapons and tactics. And YOU are the one who said that nonsense about a 17 year old Marine, not me. Furthermore, I didn't even mention Carter.

Rather than respond to what I asked you, you tried to change the subject with your ranting. So, I ask you again:

Well everyone, enjoyed being here today. I am going to get ready to go to the beach and watch the shuttle launch (hopefully). Hope everyone has a great day and remember, you can agree to disagree, but you should be polite to those who don't share your views. When you use rhetoric and attacks it only diminishes your arguement more.

HAVE A GOOD ONE. YOU GOT THE WEATHER WITH THE LAUNCH, SO COOL TO WATCH! GOOD LUCK, LATER

Have fun, John. I'm out of here too. Leaving Holy to roll around in his own excrement.

I'm 55, female, some college, but no degree. And I cannot imagine anyone basing their votes this year on anything more important than competence, honesty and integrity. It's no one's fault but her own that she has found herself losing. She hired like Bush does, out of loyalty rather than choosing the most competent. She told bold, outright, ridiculous lies. She had no time to to fight him on the issues because she was too busy channeling Karl Rove. He raised more money, kept a steady and well focused campaign team, had a better delegate stratagy, stood up 'again' against selling b.s. to the people that would be harmful too us (Iraq, then the gas tax), in both cases, she championed what was very bad for the country and one can assume that since she's not stupid she made her wants and needs a priority over ours, Added all together, he spent what percentage of his time being a uniter? And she spent what percentage of her time being a uniter? I won't fill in the blanks, you do it for yourself. The other day as my grandson was going to deal with a boy that was upset with him, I said, "Be Obama. Know what I mean?" He said over his shoulder, "Yeah, I know. I will. Back soon." My question is this, how many parents have suggested to their kids to 'be Obama,' and how many have instructed them to 'be Hillary' when they're dealing with someone upset? Who amongst us has thought for a minute, I want my daughter to grow up and behave just like Hillary?

Enough of this gender b.s. It's about competence, honesty and integrity. channell

    • Posted By: JohnAdams4prez @ 05/31/2008 2:36:58 PM

If we used that NO ONE would be elected. What does "be like Obama" mean? Do you know him that well? Do you have NO other role model for your child? What would you have told him a year ago before Obama became known?

      • Posted By: Nins @ 05/31/2008 2:51:55 PM

John, I think Lollie is referring to the fact that Obama remains cool, calm and collected when people attack him. He also listens to what people have to say, even when he disagrees with them.

I think that Lollie is right. Obama is a good role model for her children. Non-violent communication is a beautiful thing.

Wow, you must be watching those edited YouTubes again. Obama didn't "almost start crying." It was Hillary who did cry, saying "I don't know why people don't like me." If she was sincere, I feel bad for her. But if she did it on purpose, for shame.

Speaking of shame, aren't you ashamed to get on this blog and lie all day long?

  • Posted By: Bhamdude40s @ 05/31/2008 3:09:09 PM

I just dont think Obama can win. For example I love in Alabama and voted Kerry in the last election. Alabama is a VERY RED State so it is not a matter of race or party for me at all. Most people are the same way. There are only a few states that are close enough that a change could happen. Ohio and Florida being the two boggest electorial votes and I cant beleive that Obama thinks he can carry either one of those. If he does get Florida, Ohio, Texas and California. Hes is dead meat ... I mean he cant win,

    • Posted By: HolyRoller @ 05/31/2008 3:21:03 PM

You are correct. The BEST he can accomplish is 15 states. That will be a stretch. The Repub. 527s haven't gotten started. He will be shown over and over and over and over again, to be a Crook and a Fraud.

It will make the Kerry swiftboats, look like little rubber duckies.

We will hear YES WE CAN a million times. Problem is...it will not be in a very flattering tone. Gonna be hilarious.

    swapez - i don't blame you.
i don't agree with you, but i don't blame you.
because on my part - if clinton steals the nomination, i'm sticking around for the riots, and then i'm moving to canada.

    • Posted By: pinkpanther87413 @ 05/31/2008 3:13:47 PM

NOT CANADA, WE NEED TO GO TO MEXICO! SO WE CAN WORK FOR FORD!

  • Posted By: rainbow68 @ 05/31/2008 2:41:57 PM

But now we DO know Obama. His dignity and politeness are a good example to my kids. He, however, is also displaying that he understands an old Clintonism: When your enemy is self-destructing, get out of the way.

    • Posted By: Nins @ 05/31/2008 3:01:45 PM

      Amen.

    • Posted By: JohnAdams4prez @ 05/31/2008 2:57:39 PM

I respect your opinion but I disagree. We know what the press has shown us. We do NOT know about the man because he hasn't been on the scene long. I don't think his comments in S.F. were polite. I too can be gracious in public and different in private. I am NOT suggesting HRC is better. But to argue for BHO I think we need more then just he gives great speeches. I want to know more about his voting records and be able to cite things. I am troubled by what the McCain/RNC will do to him when the gloves are off. Of course that may also be a good thing and show whether he is Presidential or not, so it goes both ways. I won't be able to tell who to support until I go in the booth though.
And really, I am not trying to be arguementive (sp?). I just want to give better reasons to support and vote then what I have been getting. I think for both Obama and McCain a lot will do with the VP candidate. And I do think (barring some damaging info or event) that Obama wins based on info up to today. Again, anything can happen with these super delegates and electoral college and PAC's.

  • Posted By: rainbow68 @ 05/31/2008 2:51:25 PM

Swapez, if your 1000 democrats vote for McCain in November and he wins, will you be patting yourself on the back when he repaces the three retiring supreme court justices with republican appointees? How will you enjoy the war going on indefinitely? The economy down the drain? You must be so proud. No, this isn't the time to take our marbles and go home. It's time to come together. Unless you want another four years of this.

  • Posted By: swapez @ 05/31/2008 2:41:21 PM

I am in Orlando Florida, we have a group of over 1000 people that are going to vote republican in protest of the November elections if we do not get 100% of our votes counted as we voted for. Central florida is a key place in winning Florida.

    • Posted By: HolyRoller @ 05/31/2008 2:48:27 PM

Welcome to the party. Soros WILL NEVER let those votes be counted. He owns the DNC, and has annointed Hussein as the messiah. Sen. Clinton is too Pro-America for his tastes.

Rumor has McCain offering Clinton a cabinet position. That is called crossing the aisle. Something Hussein HAS NEVER done. But, calls himself a unifier.

Hussein Obama is a Crook and a LIAR.

I am amazed at all the mis-information here on all sides. Todays world seems to be all about the here and now. Not the future and the past. i loved the comment by lollie to be Obama. What does that mean? We know very little about him.Doesn't mean he isn't a great candidate but seriously, you have no better or different role model for your son? Wow, what would you have done if he weren't running? But it is honestly naive, well intentioned but niave none the less, to think you can sit down with your enemies and talk things out. It can hardly be done in families let alone cross religious and racial and ethnic lines. And to be fair, no matter who wins, the country has been sold long ago to corporate America. Lobbyists, special interests, etc. control all. Oh and I know, Obama is going to change all this. But he can't he if he wants. That would mean every Senator and Congressman would have to give up their perks. That would mean no pork barrel politics which would mean no pork monies flowing to districts, which would lead to their ouster by another candidate that would use those tactics. That would mean 4 years of Obama and 8 to 12 years of Republicans. Every nation, every civilization, every religion has a fall. The time is coming for USA, Christianity, Capitalism, etc. Look at the final Decades of the Roman Empire and compare to todays world. It is scary.

      JohnAdams4prez,
I appreciate how thoughtful and articulate you are in offering your opinions. I do have to disagree about the issue of naivety concerning Obama. First, I am a firm believer in keep your friends close and your enemies closer because a good president needs to know what the enemy thinks, and even if an enemy is lying, it is easier to tell if they are lying to you if you are willing to look them in the face and show that you are not scared of them and to show them that you are so confident in your own power and the power of your country that no matter what they try to do, they will lose. An alpha dog squares off with the competition instead of hiding behind a fence a barking impotently like Bush has. I think that is why Reagan is so admired. He talked to the Soviets after all. You may not be able to change your enemies??? minds, but I don???t think Obama is that naïve to believe so. He just knows that enemies need to be faced head on.

      • Posted By: JohnAdams4prez @ 05/31/2008 2:47:17 PM

Thank you for your kind comments. I wasn't really calling out Obama. I didn't articulate that well enough though. I was really commenting on the remark by lollie that she told her grandson. Ther is a huge difference between world politics and children.
I also believe his comments have been twisted. I believe we should have meetings and if we pre impose rules that just starts out the talks wrong, because if you get rules then I get rules. I can meet with the most vile of people without precondition. that doesn't mena i capitulate or walk away thinking better of them. Sometimes the opposite is true.
Sorry that the comment wasn't a little more clear because I honestly wasn' t calling out Barack Obama.
