Pam Gellar is simply cashing in on the cultural histeria for personal gain and nothing more. She should be ashamed. Dunkin' Donuts is simply reacting in a manner that was created by our overly politically correct society in the first place, and while I don't think they should have pulled the ad, I don't blame them very much either. Who knows who might have sued them for the ad after Gellar's comments (as rediculous as that sounds). Instead of boycotting DDs, lets all just continue to blast Ms. Gellar until she decides never to use the internet again. Why doesn't she get a real job instead of trolling the web looking to bully innocent companies with the race card.

You mean, they pulled the ad not because her outfit was ugly but because someone thought it meant she was a terrorist?
And what exactly is that odd-looking landmark in the background of the ad... it looks like she's stuck in a snow-globe.

considering you are promoting a product aimed at the summer months to cool you off why would you wear a scarf anyway?

I absolutely agree. The freedom of speech also implies the freedom to ignore dolts, and mental defectives. To cave in to two voices, or two thousand voices, or two million if they are wrong, is maybe worse than the original bigotry.

Dunkin Donuts has just lost another customer. That's horrible, and reeks of unpolitical correctness. Funny, how conservatives always clamor about liberal political correctness, yet they get a dunkin donut ad pulled because of a piece of clothing. OUTSTANDING! ::sarcasm::

I bet you all were screaming in protest when the Democrats were ranting against the Dubai ports deal as well.

Great - something else I need to clear out of my closet. Believe me, Ms. Gellar, if I removed everything from my closet that could potentially offend someone - we'd all be in trouble. We needn't cave into the whims of some wackadoodle like Ms. Gellar or we'd all be living in a nudist colony!

  • Posted By: John Babula @ 06/02/2008 8:46:38 AM

Ms Gellar, and others like her need a life. If you really want to fight terrorism, go to the Middle East and fight it. Don't be sitting in your probably palatial home of office and pick on the girl next door for wearing a scarf. You are pathetic.
As for Dunkin Do Nuts, the next time I am at one of your locations and I am being served by a Middle Eastern person, and there are many who either franchise or work there, I should turn and run and not buy their products. They may be a major threat. Dunkin Do NUTS should be ashamed of themselves. A lot of business can be lost because of your stupid political correctness. Or maybe when this situation happens I can call Ms. Geller and she will come and save me from these terrble people. FIND SOMETHING CONSTRUCTIVE TO DO.

  • Posted By: John Babula @ 06/02/2008 8:34:02 AM

As said many times, people have toooo much time on their hands. Ms. Geller should be spending more time helping to improve situations in this world that require our efforts. Not just sitting at a computer putting down every little circumstance she dictates we shouldn't like. Dunkin Donuts shows no "gumption" for standing by their spokespersons. I am thinking we should all stop buying their coffee and products (their flatbread is a total rip off, and I have told them so), after all many of their locations are run by Middle Eastern people. When I see them at the window, should I just leave? Apparently.

How hilarious that certain people in America get so wrapped around the axle about scarf! I mean isn't this the land of "diversity & tolerance"? Next it will be Che Guevara shirts on the hit list.

    • Posted By: ben nevis @ 06/01/2008 9:35:44 PM

No, not the Che G shirt! Just the person wearing it!

I was appalled by columnist Michelle Malkin tirade over "this scarf', no one I know has ever heard of this keffiyeh and I'm sure Rachael hasn't, nor would she ever knowingly send such a message. There are people in media that are hate mongers and want to stir up controversy, cause it sells. Shame on Dunkin' Donuts for buying in to this. Hope Rachael shuns their product and many others as well!

    • Posted By: ben nevis @ 06/01/2008 7:13:58 PM

I'll bet you do a bit of a "hate monger" when it comes to smokers, people who wear animal fur or groups who don't believe in the GLOBAL WARMING joke. I'm going out for a cup of DD keffiy.

  • Posted By: Meself01 @ 06/01/2008 6:35:00 PM

Well, the next time I decide to wear my look- alike Kaffiyeh scarf - which by the way was made popular in the 70's as a fashion statement by high-end fashion designer Laz Adler, I will embellish it with a Flag Pin.
Will Dunkin' Donuts refuse me service if I wear my scarf and try to order coffee? Support Krispy Kreme!
We should remind Michelle Milkin of WWII the next time she wears anything remotely asian and have her yanked from Fox News as a potential spy!

  • Posted By: Rubbersoul4163 @ 06/01/2008 4:05:30 PM

This is terrible. I think I'm going to by 100 Kaffiyehs and not a single dunkin donut EVER again.

Please go to - http://answer.pephost.org/site/News2?abbr=ANS_&page=NewsArticle&id=8821 - to send a letter to Dunkin Donuts telling them how ridiculous it is that they would pull this ad, thus caving to racist and intolerant pundits and radio hosts.

  • Posted By: nepomucena @ 05/30/2008 7:14:00 PM

How can wearing a scarf promote violence and terrrorism? The critics of this ads should be ashamed (assuming they know better) or should be ashamed for showing their stupidity. I can now see why being a highly educated voter is disdained ( I support Obama) Remember there was a reason the founding fathers did NOT give a vote to everyone when this country was established; their worst fears are being realized. Do something constructive--make packages for the troops, lobby for healthcare and education for those that risk their lives so idiots can spew whatever they like.

Ms. Ali......How dare you defend those presumptuous shysters. Krispy Kreme produces a far inferior dough nut compared to Dunkin Donuts. Though i forgive you for this stance as you probably grew up in the West where the presence of Dunkin Donuts is under represented. Since there is a lack of Dunkin's around the West, you had to grow up being fed inferior dough nuts. When I hear people make such callous comments such as the one you made in this article I must look to the heavens and say, "Forgive them lord for they know not what a good dough nut is.

    • Posted By: Margo Channing @ 06/01/2008 12:38:23 PM

I don't care how good their donuts are, they were wrong to pull the ad and cave into to "nonsense' it was just a paisely scarf, worn as a fashon accessory, nothing more, media needs to step back and check these things out before running with pure c---p !!!!!!!

I do not regard the bloggers' comments as the "worst form of racial stereotyping" or "their demonization of an entire culture". Let's face facts. The Muslims are a culture that cannot and will not live at peace with the West. I'd rather have peace but if it's us or them, I choose us.

    • Posted By: ol cranky @ 06/01/2008 7:53:46 AM

The problem is not Muslim or Christian or Jewish culture, the problem is the fundamentalists of those religions labeling all others as being at the same extreme they are at. The right wing fundamentalist/orthodox Christian movement (which, from the sheer unadulterated ignorance of your statement, I suspect you must represent) here in the US is trying to impose their views the same as the Islamofascists. There (currently) is a difference in degree in the actions they take to support their "cause", but there is no difference in principle.

What a bunch of insecure idiots these conservatives are. Is your 'democracy and way of life', as you call it so fragile that it's threatened by a "head scarf"?????? This type of ignorance is what threatens the American people's way of life.

  • Posted By: LoudSpeaker @ 06/01/2008 3:04:45 AM

Hypocrates, can you imagine the back lash of the powerful lobbies if this happened to someone wearing yamaka .
