The keffiyeh is scarf worn by arab women, men, actors, ..etc.
comparable to wearing jeans in the US. Dunkin dounuts decision to
pull down the add shows the extreme anti arab bigotry in the US.
The Taliban banned afghan people from wearing jeans. On the other
hand the zionists are banning americans from wearing a keffiyeh.

THIS IS TOO RIDICULOUS TO EVEN COMMENT ON!

I thought this was the USA. Apparently we are not free to wear what we want. Just because Dunkin Donuts pulled the advertisement based on the purile chides of some neo fascist Piece of #@$! I would offend myself to patronize Dunkin Donuts. I think that people who wear suits and ties are all automotons of the neo fascist movement. We should incarcerate all purported neo fascists. $#@^ing idiots.

Her career is probably sagging and needed some extra publicity. It is so not complicated.

MY VOTE IS THAT THEY GO AHEAD AND RUN THE AD.

  • Posted By: red2dye4 @ 05/31/2008 3:40:51 PM

The liberal media has gotten out-of-control! Since when does an accessory denote terrorist ties? I wear a Pentagram, does that make me a Satanist? Obviously it was a slow news day. The scarf is paisley, and looks nothing like the dish towel type head wear of Arafat et al. I can't believe Dunkin Donuts kowtowed to this ridiculous drivel.

    this is RIDICULOUS

Are we now being told what we can or cannot wear? Does one country own the rights to wearing jeans? If the Jihadist decided to don Levi Jeans will those too be consider as forbidden dress, in the western world? Shame of Dunkin Donuts for caving into such shallow minded individuals or groups of people. Maybe the world would be better if we all just wore a red shirt and khaki pants, with a red/khaki hat for the men; and a red/khaki scarf for the woment--problem solved!

  • Posted By: Nyaneve @ 05/31/2008 1:56:43 PM

Well, The Jihadist groups wear pants, shirts, & shoes...should all of us stop wearing clothes period so we will not be seen as terrorists? This is rediculus all around. I agree with the others who say shame on Dunkin Donuts for giving in to closed minded, bigoted Idiots" We ourselves should be ashamed of giving this hoopla a second glance. Are we that far gone from sanity? Are we that engrossed in conspiracy, and comsumed so much by hatred that we cannot just see a commercial for a beverage by someone wearing a paisley scarf? ugh, enough allready!

The decision by Dunkin donuts to drop the ad was just plain ridiculous and I think the kowtowing to the right wing fringe has gone way too far.

This whole to-do is just Dunkin' Donuts's word-association, image-identification, subliminal-messaging way of promoting its fattening sugar, oil, caffeine, etc...

Rachael Ray is for eye appeal. Whether, modeling for picture illustrations in magazines and her cookbooks, or cooking demonstrations, she's really good enough to look at and eat. Not the book. Not the food.

In one of her web pictures, she was wearing what looked like a French Maid uniform + white apron. This recalls subliminally the French refusal to join the war in Iraq, Napoleon brandy, that particular kiss, etc....

In the Dunkin Donuts ad, she reminds me of a fat lamb unsuccessfully wrap with a small limp flat Mid-Eastern bread about her neck. Or of Muslims. Terrorism. Barack Hussein Obama is lapsed Muslim (murtad firtil)..

You could identify Rachael Ray, but would have no appetite for lamb sandwich, nor be neutral regarding BHO.

    C'est la vie...whatever.

The real tragedy here is how fast one person can get the waters chummed for the sharks. How far are we willing to allow one person to misuse our resources of communication (the Internet) and send fear flying? Critiquing fashion is not Pam Geller???s forte but throwing misguided fears will send people into vigilantisms.

The scarf (kaffiyeh, bufanda, écharpe, schal, ????????, De sjaal, okay you get it) what ever language is used to describe it, it means the same, material worn about the neck, shoulders, or head, for ornament or protection against cold, drafts, etc. That???s all it is a fashion statement. I thought it was beautiful, it reminded me of a Jewish prayer shawl or tallit.

Pama Geller needs to "shut up" and get a real life!! Controversy is one thing but, creating it as student Geller has, is down right shamefull. Blogger not!!! Hogger yes!!!

I am a muslim and an egyptian; and this is the same panic a muslim extremist here in Eypt would feel about a muslim woman with uncovered hair (even though there are many). PLEASE STOP SUPPORTING THE EXTREMISTS ON BOTH SIDES...

  • Posted By: bluebird42 @ 05/31/2008 12:37:41 PM

Come on folks! We need to get over being so sensitive and stop looking for an excuse to pay tribute to the extreme groups who laugh at us each time we create this kind of controversy! Are we going to scrutinize everything we do, say and wear to be sure we don't pay homage to terrorist, extremists or any other group that is radical? If we do, they win! We need to grow up and the press needs to stop printing stories like this one. Shame on us for allowing this sort of stuff to take up space in the news when we could spend that time finding some good news to share. I beg of you to put aside the pettiness that prevails in the news and stop giving in to the radicals of this world. They must find us very entertaining.

Thank you for this article, it was very enlightening and awfully disturbing.

Isn't it amazing that a neocon, war-loving, far-right extremists would chant their own version of "Death to Arabs and Rachel Ray (the most jovail and lovable TV Personality)" while frolicking in their hateful mud all the while stereotyping Arabs as the constant looming and existential threat.

One has to dig deeper and find that the real motivation is the right-wing has been overrun by the demagoguery of the blind supporters of Israel (Zionists, both Christian, Hagee/Parsley and Jewish AIPAC) in dehumanizing everything Arab and Muslim. Once the jihad-bomb is thrown, these so called "masculine granddaddies" start to wet their pants and start an email chain of "Islam is here and already has converted RACHEL FREAKIN RAY." You and your children are next!

Shame on Dunkin' and indeed I shall be boycotting THEM for caving in to the right-wing bullshit that is more of a threat TO MY FREEDOMS AT HOME than any Middle Eastern group or 3rd world nation!!!

  • Posted By: bluebird42 @ 05/31/2008 12:30:12 PM

I believe it's time we STOPPED being so ridiculous! Come on folks, it's beginning to border on lunacy to be so very sensitive about stupid things like a scarf! So what if someone wears a similar color or a similar style to some controversial group. We are becoming a world of scared and nervous people who are afraid of being the individuals that we are. Are we going to let the world's radicals control everything we do, say, and wear? Doesn't that very thing show that we are giving in to them? When is enough, enough?

How ridiculous have we become?! Rachael Ray and Dunkin' Donuts are Terrorist extremists just like Mickey Mouse is. People, it is a scarf. The woman uses words like yummy in my tumm on her shows. Dunkin' Donuts has been around probably longer than that idiot Pam Geller.

Miss or Mrs. Geller (whichever she is, probably the former, who would want her) obviously has too much time on her hands if this is the only thing she has time for. She needs to get a job and be a PRODUCTIVE part of society. He here is an idea, if she is so hot to protecrt us all, why doesn't she join the military and protect us as I did for 22 years.

I served in the US Navy for 22 yrs and made multiple deployments to defend our country. Unfortunately in some cases, (such as this one) I was defending IDIOTS like Pam Geller's right to accuse descent people like Rachael Ray, Dunkin Donuts and anyone wwith the fashion sense that wears a scarf. Talk about blatant racism! It is a scarf that looks like something a Terrorist wears, of course she and they MUST be supporting terrorist!

In fact Ms or Mrs. Greer, it is you who is promoting and supporting terrorism. You are the one perpetuatibng hatered and distrust of all Muslim and Arabic people with thinkig (if that is what you want to call what she does) like yours. You are a digrace to our country and you make me sick that I had to defend the rights of you and other ignorant thinkers like you!
