This is so sad. What is more sad is the people and government who doesn't think they matter. That the earth lives because of all these beings contributions. We all exist in the cycle and it is being destroyed. When will we be on the endangered list?

When we render animals extinct - we're doing it to ourselves - we're just down the line a few numbers.

When we render animals extinct, we're also on the list - just a certain number of species away.

Does Dick Cheney poach animals? And has anyone read John Gray's books titled "Straw Dogs-Thoughts On Human and Other Animals" and/or "Black Mass" ????? -if you want answers to injustice and facts about the Bush Administration- read those books-
The current President is lying and the answers are in those books. -

Don't Polar bears and/or didn't their species thrive in Alaska? George W.Bush who claims to be a servant of God, just announced we might drill for oil and destroy preserves there(in Alaska) for oil- due to high prices he feels its only hope. Now this is kinda of a moralist post here on Newsweek, but isn't or aren't animals a part of Gods creation???- in the bible it claims"God Created Heaven and Earth- and destroying this and the loss of Gods creation such as the polar bear is not a serious crime against nature and "God"? You know the current President of the United States a complete and total fricking ignorant loser. He cares about creation and all life?- Its a joKe- so is he; and say goodbye to our world because it will be gone soon-at least a portion of it. George W.Bush if you are out there and reading this- do me and the world a favor and *** off. Your a real special person big G.

The Politic Of Endangered Species:
Although my method of saving the endangered species may not be politically correct. Ironically, to saving those species we must destroy and the number of many other the species we currently have in abundance -- our pets. Except those who are acting, guiding the blinds, guarding, termites and police detection, herding, hunting, catching rodents or other benefitial tasks. Pets, especially dogs in excess have contributed to some of our most serious environmental problems. Todays their wastes especially feces are piling up at our landfills even if they flushed into th toilet will create extra burden for water treatment plants. Waste before being disposed of are stinking up our air and atmosphere. Some of those gaseous waste such as mathane, CO and CO2 are greenhouse gases which will create global warming and climatic changes. Pet droppings on our roads have created driving harzards and polluting our water sheds. Those droppings will also spread diseases such bird flu or other diseases. Road kills may result in Mad Cow Diseases or making street unpleasant for walking. Pets will bite men sometime resulted in rabies. Regardless of whether there are bites, attacks by dogs will create traumas which will require medical or psychological treatment especially to small children. Again, they will deterred pedestrain from travelling on the road in favor of driving which will cause pollution and consumption of gasoline. Pet hit by cars will result in collison damages requiring more resources to build or repair new cars. Harvesting from natural and domesticated food supplies to feed our pet will creat food shortage for men and wildlife. Again, pollution will be their results. Agricultural supplies for pets will resulting in clearing of wilderness for plantation land. Pet at home usually require more space and more resouces to build bigger house. Wandering cat and dogs will kill wildlife such as those mentioned in your article. -

Dan, we all love wildlife, and we all pay dearly to make sure that they are managed for their continued existence. However in answer to your question, your agenda may well be to use these animals, or their images to wipe out natural resource extraction in areas like the one I happen to live in. You needn't tell me about terrible economies friend because I and the vast majority of my friends and neighbors who live in areas dependant on natural resource extraction know all about that. Our very livlihoods are "endangered" due to frivilous lawsuits, and ESA listings on a daily basis in large part due to out of state organizations like the ones in this very article who could care less about how real people are affected in their pursuit of
a "cause." -

Hey montanamade, what would someone's agenda be beyond saving some noble creature? I love wildlife and because I want to help them I must have some hidden agenda??? I wish people like you would see that there are people that care about the animals and the land that is taken away from them on a daily basis due to the greed of realtors and politicians that get fed the pork of the sales. I wish people would wake up and see what they are doing to these animals! Our economy is terrible and yet we build more and more new homes, more and more business flats yet there are vacant buildings all over the US!

The ESA as currently administered is a joke. The State Departments of Fish Wildlife and Parks are charged with protecting, and managing our countries wildlife and should be left to that task without the interference and obstructionist tactics of some well financed bleeding hearts with agendas well beyond that of saving some noble creature. The listing of the polar bear whose numbers are at the highset levels in years is just another example of our legal system gone awry.

The posting by Sailfast is the greatest ever! How can anyone top what was written by its author? My hat off to you Sir or Madam on your words. God bless you and the Polar Bear as well as all his creatures. Ric from Virginia

The loss of any of God's creatures is a horrific affront to Him! He gave us our habitat, as He has given each of the lesser beasts their habitat. It is our duty as God's servants to preserve them, each and every one of them.
Loss of habitat is a primary cause of these creatures' demise, more serious is the twin environmental crisises of Global Warming and Polution. Together, these may take our habitat away.
Take care in what you do Human Kind, this place was not made for you alone! So long as your creature comforts endanger this planet, our home, all of our homes, even that of these animals all of our lives are in danger.
