I wish the author would have pointed out that this is one of the reasons the Roman empire fell and is why our country will fall. I dont believe in gay marriage and think the majority is being forced to accept it. This is an instance when tolarance forces us to accept an issue.

Biblical justification for bigotry SHOULD be outlawed. How ridiculous to say that my marriage, a straight woman with a husband and a child, is in the LEAST way affected b/c two other human beings who love each other also want to get married. And since when does popular opinion drive civil rights? If that were the case, we'd still have slaves in the South.

Although I usually read Ms. Quindlen's articles, I don't always agree with what she has said. This article had me agreeing with her every word (including the side opinions). I have many gay couple friends and they are no less deserving of the good and the bad of my straight couple friends. I am not so young that my friends could come out while we were in high school ('92 grad) but I am definately looking forward to this article predicting the future of gay marriages...partnerships...whatever word works for people.

But they sure can land characters on TV shows! Don't you like how every new program has to have a gay character? I've lived in cities my whole life and met a few gays, who were nice enough, but it's not like Hollywood would have you believe: there's no token gay in every situation you will find yourself.

To compare gay marriage to pedophelia clealy shows how out of touch some bigots are. Gay marriage hurts no one. The people involved are making a choice to live their live. They are adults. To those who think the ANTI CHOICE crowd only cares about choosing abortion rights for the rest of us had better realize that this crowd wants to decide EVERYTHING FOR EVERYONE./

I'm het, and I don't consider that a "choice;" it's a basic part of who and what I am in this life. Why should gay people be any different? To say that gay marriage will bring about the end of civilization as we know it is no less outrageous than to say that outlawing gay marriage will start our nation down the slippery slope to where only registered Christians can marry, own property, and vote.

Holy Shi'ite, Batman, this Lord guy is stone hung up on nudity. I'm plumb tuckered out just trying to figure out who I can uncover and who I can't uncover. He didn't say a word about who I can uncover, so I 'spect I was supposed to go through life not knowing what a naked human looks like.

Fortunately for me, when I was five years old, I had this teenage babysitter who uncovered herself; I didn't have to do a thing, so I guess I didn't commit an abomination. Of course, since then... well, I've done everything I could to commit as many uncovering-type abominations as possible. I don't regret even one, I'm happy to say. I ain't never seen a ugly one, neither. I made it to sixty, and I'm afraid my uncovering days are about over.

So-called "gay" marriage is an oxymoron - a contradiction in terms. No legal fiction or fiat Court will make it otherwise. The proper, not corrupted definition of marriage, is the complimentary union of male and female, husband and wife, mother and father and the sanctification of human sexuality to a higher and more dignified purpose... "life." No human being was ever born to bugger or be buggered. Grow up people. The "gay" rights movement has not only debased human sexuality, but perverted history and science, the Justice system and the education of children, but the entire political process of a once great nation. The "gay" rights movement is nothing more than a sex cult which has co-opted and exploits the language and symbols of normal society.
