Is Wal-Mart Too Liberal?

What a joke to say that walmart has any values what so ever. It takes advantage of the working poor. It is the biggest supporter of communism by buying the majority of the products that it sells from China. How many times has this company been caught stealing from it's employees for changing time cards to benefit the company. Walmart robs the poor to make their shareholders richer. Hum, guess that is the conservative values at it best. P.S. I am a union and had the unfortunate experience of helping to build a local Walmart. I got to see first hand how they treat their employees and it was not pleasant. Would rather have less than give them a penny of our money.

I can remember when Wal-Mart's business model maintained that they endeavoured to provide products that were made in America. The huge mass advertising campaign that lasted for years stating this. Wal-Mart always had an aggressive growth and expansion.M.O..Sam's favorite place to put a new store was accross the street from K-Mart. Ten years ago I lived 20 miles from a Wal-Mart,today I have 4 Wal-Marts within 7 miles of me and one under construction scheduled to open in the winter of 08. I have not moved.

It amuses me that every single topic that can be fathomed is politized seriously, a store being too liberal? The answer should be elementary, a business must cater to the demographic socioeconomic groups that trade with the business,. And political correctness is a societal cancer that is being forced down the throats of every single person in America,this is so rampant there is no longer truth in our society just various shades of distorted illogic.

Pardon me but I feel the topic here should be What ever happed to America? or You get what you pay for .or perhaps Neither political party cares about us,and politicians care about loopholes and splitting presplit hairs and techicalities ,so why do we mindlessly continue to blow their trumpets?

If you feel Wal-Mart doesnt meet your personal criteria spend your cash or cook your plastic at another establishment.sure Sears is most likely a more expensive store but the quality is superior to Wal-Marts merchandise "a Carhartt pocket Tee shirt last much longer than the same type shirt from Wal-Mart ,it's a little more but it will last you 2 to 9 longer than Wally worlds tee shirt.and it's an American product.All the bickering will accomplish nothing,they will read these blogs if they do and laugh because the spreadsheets tell another tale In a capitalist society the voice that is ever heard is CASH take your money accross the street , then the voice will be heard.

One last tyrade if I may, Thankyou. The sad side effect of a misguided economic plan is as the politicians were buying our votes (economic stimulus plan) the stark reality is those three and six hundred dollar checks are going to spent at Wal-Mart to boost the economies of China Bangladesh taiwan etc etc and do very little if anything at all towards what the intened projected outcome was meant , but before you guys get political and team up and choose sides just remember both parties did this.

Until the day arrives that everyone isn't moonstruck by the almighty dollar comes nothing will change ,ever Pure greed is the basis of most issues . and the answer to this topic and artical is very simplistic my fellow Americans ,If we wish to fix this problem and fix our economy and provide stability to our Country BUY AMERICAN, yes it's that simple Thankyou for your time ... .

I have been a shopper at Wal-Mart ever since they became a natioal store and that they have always had the everyday shopper in mine. I have heard too much about these carbon credits, it's just another gimmic to get money from everyone to drive a political adjenda. The products Wal-Mart provides are of high quaility and priced far. It seems that everything today is about politics and if you don't agree with those pushing these carbon credits you are to the far left or right. I belive the present management team at Wal-Mart is doing the right thing so far. If not the general public that shops there will be the deciding factor if the chages are negative.

Liberals - Conservatives - has that ever made a difference to Wal-marts bottom line?? NO! In the samll - unfortunate community where i live in FL caters to Hispanics - bottom line. most Americans have found a day and time to shop there cheaply - because we cannot afford other stores that we are accustomed to - and hope that we avoid Hispanics.
There is no red and blue in Wal-Mart - it is about survival for working poor Americans.

I beleive Wal-Mart should stand up for the one's who help them keep their doors open by practicing customer service & keep them coming back by being in-stock..

I probably spend$200.00 a month at walmart, but it is the only store near where i live other than a dollar general..Do I like it NO do I have a choice No unless i want to do without, And my dogs need food, living on a fixed income i do not have a choice.But now dollar general gets most of mymoney and willprobably get all of it shorty with the gas as high as it is.

I was dissapointed by this article. Instead of being an objective analysis of what Mr. Flahraty is trying to do it just repeats his spin to make for a good headline. Enviormentalism isn't a right or left issue. I am happy that Wal Mart is finally listening to it's customers we boycotted them for a year. This poorly thought out media story is a reflection of what got us into trouble as a country... please start to analyze sources and effects of the stories. That's why I read Newsweek.

To CoyoteWhiskey. Wal-Mart not only videotapes gun sales to it s customers, they have cameras all over the store, supposedly to catch shoplifters. It's amazing to me that the cameras and the security system that they have doesn't do it!!!!!!! At the store where I work we have had big screen tv's, computerss, dvd players, fishing poses, bicycles, etc walk right out the door. The reason for the cameras and videotaping is not so much to keep an eye on the customers as it is to catch the employes stealing. Last year the Wal-Mart I worked at lost one million dollars worth of merchandise due to customer and employee theft both. This year the number went down on the amount of lose, only half a million.

Why is it all becoming about the left or right wing? Why can't we just get over ourselves and try to help each other as a country as a whole?

when walmart prices are the same as everone elses they will go broke-but they are buying by the trainload straight from the manufacture that is why they can sell cheaper than the others(buying power) they are a hell of a company to shop or work for unfortuantly as long as the economy is this bad bussiness will boom with the dollar buying less most people with shop where it goes father (money) and i cant find anyone selling as cheap as walmart in my area -not even close the trouble is the poor class is growing a hell of a lot faster than the rich and what middle class your either in or out most are out -if the times were brtter walmart wouldnt be as big as they are know and i cant see things getting any better in the near future as for the workers they are like every one else trapped if they quit they dont eat and bussniess knows this it isn't only walmart its everywhere here is a thought the only difference between a minumim wage provider and a street person is a job and 30 days -if it gets much worse the workers wont be able to afford toget to work and walmart will keep hiring working them 37 hours a week remember the tale of two cities one in canada and one in china that had walmart stores and the workers wanted to organize a union walmart closed the store in canada and let the chinise organize a union -makes no sense maybe 10.00 @ hour verses .65 cents had something to do with there decision-anyways walmart will be walmart-------------

Because Wal-Mart is an international shareholder company, they do things to promote the international community. People should travel outside the USA and see how much Wal-Mart does for a community as far as purchasing power goes. When Wal-Mart was owned by Sam Walton he had NO outside influences to disrupt his conservative thought and rose to the top of the retail industry, by buying bulk and passing savings on to the customer. Last Christmas I bought electronic gifts at Wal-Mart because it was the cheapest on every item I purchased. And since there are no manfacturers of cameras, ipods, and such I had to consume foreign products.

USA does not manufacturer many products, so in "Going Green" it is best to buy from your direct local community --- meaning BUYING from less than 100 miles away --- not possible? OK then at least food products from within your STATE.

Boycotts work !!!!! Don't buy anything except necessary household products and food for a month. See how much money you will save. That means no fast food, restaurants and no prepackaged vegetables or boxes of "SO CALLED FOOD". Buy bread from your bakery down the street, eat eggs, meat and fresh vegetables.
Do not venture down the isles in your supermarket.

Gosh I wish my Wal-Mart was a super with an entire grocery store, just to show the big food corporations how its done. God Bless The Almighty Dollar !!! LOL
