I am an American and I do not recognize my country. I frequently hear people say, some one should do something. Science and faith must come to terms and make a reasonable convergence. Due to our diversity peoples, value demands are open markets with principals set by scientific values, while other lands and peoples serve spiritual principals that are supported by the systems that suuport those principals. Great! The best of this entire nation are pious, something obscure here in the US. Those poor women were duped into dancing for money, it's the same as strip teasing. This move will help Egyptians God willing to have more regard for women and make women value themselves more by refraining from degrading jobs, and create a better way for women in need to earn a living.

most of the ppl here are falling into the prob that usa is notorious for...sticking their unwanted noses into something that does not in any way concern them. guess what? ksa is a lot closer to egypt than we are. in fact there is just a small body of water between them. my point it...if they want to make egypt more like them why is that more wrong than americans wanting to make so much of the world more like them???

Believe me, there are a lot of folks here that do not like the groups that try to control American society anymore than you like the cheap & vulgar things you are talking about. The only difference is, you can turn off the Paris Hilton. You can't turn off a gang that wants to arrest you or kill you because your skirt (or pants) are above your ankles.

Leave Egypt to the Egyptians! The Saudi's need to leave us alone. Egypt has both Muslims and Christians, and belly dancing is a CULTURAL thing, not religious! Let's leave religion out of this, and look at how other countries are trying to control OUR Egyptian Culture!!! If you go back to history, Belly Dance traces back to historical times.

This is something that needs a check. Is it really about money? 'coz I don't think anybody is as rich as the Egyptian. Is it about the power of decision? i don't really think so. influence? probably. business policy? maybe. whatever it is, it is definitely less than the egyptian uniqueness that has existed for generations - although being islamic, no other country is as free, modern and open as egypt. what matters is the preservation and promotion of this uniqueness.

Heres the hypocrisy of the Saudis. The "elitists" of society run & play along with their western counterparts yet they demand that the average Saudi citizen obey the religious laws. "Do as I say!---Not as I do!

I lived in Saudi Arabia a little over a year. During that time I came to know many Saudis and arab people from many different countries. It is true that the Saudis regard themselves as better than most of the other arabic people and they flaunt their wealth blatantly. The Saudis magic carpet is fueled and protected by the USA and it is a bit of a vicious circle. The Saudis I worked with were constantly engaging me to embrace Islam, It reminded me of the born again Christian days back in high school. I am not a religious person and do not like anyone imposing their beliefs on me.

I agree with you Rock1955. You are right on about the Saudi's! Unfortunately Egypt is a poor country. The Saudi's vacation there and that puts food in their children's mouths. Money is ruling the U.S. too. Money, power, ignorance and the fear of the unknown often diverts us humans from standing up for what is right. God bless you guys who stand up for the US.
