Just wanted to point out one thing. Trinity United Church of Christ has their own views, and this Black Liberation Theology, if it's true what I'm reading below, is just as racist as anything they accuse whites of.
However, as a white member of a different United Church of Christ congregation, I feel it's important to point out that these racist and divisive views are coming out of ONE church in our denomination, not the denomination as a whole.
The United Church of Christ prides itself on being extremely welcoming and inclusive... no matter if you are male, female, young, old, white, black, Asian, Hispanic, straight, gay, married, single, family or childfree, rich or poor. Part of this openness is a denominational policy that allows each individual congregation a great deal of freedom to run their own churches their own way.
Please don't get a bad impression of the UCC due to this. In fact, if there is one in your town and you haven't felt welcome in church before because you're female, low-income, single, gay, black - whatever - give it a try. I guarantee you won't hear anything like what's coming out of Trinity at 99% of the UCC churches, and we would love to welcome new people who have been disillusioned or have felt unwelcome at churches in the past.
