I just saw this on noquarter.com and thought I'd share it:

I have 2 suggestions for people as disgusted by the democratic Party as I am should the pre-ordained nomination go to Obama:

    1) While it may be too late for Hillary Clinton to run as an Independent in some states, please don't forget that there are other parties that may already have filed for space on your state's ticket (ie: Liberal, Working Families, Green, etc.). Find one and figure out what it will take to have Senator Clinton as their nominee, then let everyone in your state know how they can still vote for her in November. They will be thrilled to have wide-spread support and publicity for their party.

    2) When voting for down-line candidates, DO NOT ever vote for them as a democrat; select them on any other party line. In most states, the party with the most votes gets placement at the top of the ballot so let's be sure the the "New" democrats never get that placement again. If you support a state/local candidate, make sure they know you will not vote for them on the dem line so they ask for the support of another legit party and you can vote them in. BTW - this strategy also will work for Republicans who are unhappy with their party's behavior of late...

Please feel free to share/post these suggestions with anyone and everyone. The America we love is disappearing right before our eyes. This fight is over more than a candidate - it is about our way of life and the Constitutional right to vote. Do not let your voice be silenced!

First of all, I don't agree with this approach. For better or worse, we area two party dominant political system and third parties just don't work. Having stipulated that, I agree that this is a valid approach to provoke change. IF there were a large enough following for a third party it would become one of the two dominant parties and either the Dems or the GOP would fade away, like the Whigs when the Republicans appeared on the scene. However, the flaw is that most people really don't care that much. Our best turn-out rate since the 1920s was about 60%. Usually, it's around 50%. People have to be cajoled to the polls and they go in carrying sample ballots because they don't remember who they're voting for.

Hillary will not run as an independent. It would be political suicide. She would lose any standing she has in the Senate, where she's not particularly well-liked as it is. It would trash the Clinton legacy, which is one of her big concerns now. My guess is that she will go to the convention. have her name placed in nominatino so all her supporters can have their moment to parade and demonstrate and get showered with confetti. Then she speak from the New York delegation and call for a unanimous vote for the nomination of Obama in the interest of party unity. In exchange, she will get a prime time slot at the convention to laud the CLinton legacy. She also will get a speaking slot for herself, and Obama can only hope that she doesn't trash him too bad. She or more likely a representative will probably get the VP slot on the ticket and key positions in the administration. She will secure some position (not necessarily paid, but prestigeous) for her husband. And she will re-think her future career path. She'll be 68 in 2012 -- is that too old to run? Would she rather take the first Supreme Court justice slot? Chief Justice Roberts is pretty young, so she probably wouldn't get to be chief. When Ted Kennedy realized that he would never be president, he turned his attention to the Senate and became the most effective senator in modern times. That's a role that will need filling all too soon. Would she want to follow that model? Would she want to get out of elective politics and do something in the nonprofit sector? (somehow , I think not)

But, if she runs as an independent, she loses all her options. As a third party candidate, she can't win. The last one to pick up any Electoral College votes at all was Wallace in 1968 when he won five southern states.

I really think Obama will win in the fall. McCain is as inspirational as a glass of water. The only way McCain will win is if Democrats are still yelling at each other in November. If this is the case, it is sadder than I can say.

  • Posted By: chindognyc @ 06/01/2008 3:01:55 PM

The DNC met in Washington to try and get the party united and seat the delegates. Harold Ickes started bringing the anger our once again. This shows that Hillary would hijack the process just to get herself ready for 2012. I think and I hope the American people are smarter then that.

U.S. Troops are voting for Obama. Hillary was caught in another lie. She said she would start removing troops in 60 days. Now she is saying that troops might have to stay longer. What a joke. She is such a pandering fool. How much more lies should we keep hearing out of her rat mouth.

The resentment and hard feelings among Hillary's supporters have developed due to bad management by the RBC, I believe. The scheduling rule was broken by 3 states, FL, MI, and NH. One state, NH, was given a waiver of the penalty. The other two were not, even though FL Democrats did not even have the power to comply. That power was in the hands of the Republican dominated FL Legislature, and the Republican governor. MI would have complied with the scheduling rule if NH had complied. NH did not comply, AND received a waiver. It is generally considered bad management not to treat the same infraction the same way for all. In the case of FL, it is also considered bad management to punish anyone who does not have the authority or power to control the behavior. Two counts against the management style of RBC. RBC also took 4 delegates earned by Sen. Clinton's votes, and gave them to Sen. Obama. This was a violation of the Dem's charter. More bad management. Their excuse was that the MI team asked them to do that. The ultimate decision was not the MI teams', it was the RBC's. Take responsibility for the consequences of your own actions, RBC. I heard your expectation that there would have been re-votes in these two states. I still cannot understand why no agreement could be reached to do the re-vote. How much better off we would all be, if only that had happened! Now, Obama, if he is the nominee, will not have many women Democrat voters. And Hillary, if she is the nominee, will not have many Obama supporters. Hindsight is 20-20. But, looking back, I could wish the primary/caucus schedule had never been changed, however good RBC's intentions may have been.

Don't let Florida off the hook. The state had options. It's true that the Republicans wrapped the bill changing the primary date into another one that mandated paper ballots -- and the Dems really had to vote for one to get the other. But, after that bill was enacted, the DNC asked the state party to come up with another plan for selecting delegates. There were ways to come up with a valid selection method. Caucuses, perhaps. Using the primary as a "beauty contest" then holding a state convention to select delegates using the results of the primary as a guide. It would be convoluted, but it would have worked. Dems could have even held a separate election, although that probably would have been confusing. As for holding a re-vote, there were too many legal and financial obstacles. Florida is a closed primary state. So you would need access to the state voter registration rolls. But a re-vote would be a private election, not a state sponsored election and voter registration rolls are not available for private elections. The Dem Party would have to pay to print ballots, instructions for polling places, newspaper ads. It would have to lease voting machines from the state and sites for voting. It would have to hire people to manage the election, open and maintain polling sites, count and certify the results. Caucuses might have been financially feasible, since they do not involve ballots, voting machines or equipment and staff to tally ballots. But the Clinton people did not want caucuses. Holding a statewide election in a state as big as Florida is not like electing the president of the senior class. It is a massive and expensive undertaking. It just wasn't possible without state sanction and support, and the Republican legislature certainly was not going to provide that.

It is also funny that 80% of troops in Iraq support Obama. These are the men and women who is fighting for us while we are back here playing the race card. I am glad that both blacks and whites support Obama because they want change in Washington. The people here want our men and women to stay in Iraq until 2013 and they don't care either. As long as that black man don't become the next President, let those young men and women keep dying. Thanks once again White America, you voted for Bush and now you will vote for McCain. Please do me a favor and tell those men and women why you voted for McCain and please don't use that piss poor excuse that you wanted experience. I don't think the men and women in Iraq want to hear that.

I found your source..........YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED....but obamamohammeds lack that emotion............

ABC Newsflash: 100% of US Troops In Iraq Plan to Vote Democratic
In an ABC News story titled "Surprising Political Endorsements By U.S. Troops," crack reporter Martha Raddatz finds that 80% of all troops interviewed plan to vote for Barack Obama, while 20% plan to vote for Hillary Rodham Clinton Rodham. None at all plans to vote for John McCain.

SHE TOOK A SAMPLE OF 5 (FIVE) SOLDIERS........6(SIX) MORE WERE INTERVIEWED BUT RADDATZ DECLINED TO GIVE THOSE VIEWS.

Ya'll obamamohammeds are something else. I think the proper description is KOOKS and FRAUDS.

The entire group of obamamohammeds, are a bunch of CROOKS and FRAUDS....It is RARE to ever get a truthful comment from any obamamohammed. Hey all ya'll Clinton supporters. Keep your chin up. Who knows what may happen involving this crook and fraud. Dual-citizen, mohammed messiah, whose core constituency....his friend...... not just someone he knows. Friends. The latest hell-bound "christian" Father Flamer. What is this Obama has for spiritual guidance. A Catholic Priest, A Nation of Islamothug Imam, and Rev. God Damn AmeriKKKa. Well, he is a Messiah, isn't he? NEWS FLASH!!!....Hussein Quits "Church" ....... That means he will get "re-baptised. Who knows. He might just drown.

I'm Republican, and many of you know this about HolyRoller. I have become quite a fan of Sen. Clinton. She is one tough lady. And I'm certain, she loves this country, and would take whatever means necessary to protect this Homeland. Hussein, I have NO DOUBT, has definite plans to weaken the U.S.. Militarily. Politically. And Economically. It will not happen.

But hang in there. And if worse comes to worse....McCain can make Hillary a part of his Cabinet. Talk about unifying and crossing the aisles. I have heard the rumour, and would not be at all surprised.

    Good Luck.....

And then Harold Ickes said that Mi was using affirmative action tactics to give Obama extra delegates. How dare this guy. What is he really trying to say and this shows that Hillary would stoop to a new low just to get herself in the White House. At least Obama has been telling the truth during his campaign while Hillary has been pandering. Talked about the gas tax and then now she is saying that it probably would not work. She is a closet Republican and must not continue this race.

Hopefully, the credentials comm. can shed some light and leadership on counting all votes 100%. There are no 50% citizens and there should be no 50% votes. The polls were opened and we voted.

If the RBC cannot cooperate with the states it's time for that body to be dissolved.

    • Posted By: TruthForward @ 06/01/2008 1:41:52 PM

The decision was made within the rules. So the credentials comm. has no reason to change anything. Because this is about the rules and about the country.. Not about the candidates.

Besides, Clinton's guy partially agreed to the terms.

  • Posted By: Tyler57 @ 06/01/2008 12:54:48 PM

The democratic party probably had the best lineup of candidates there will ever be again and the powers and media kept shoving the least experienced and inept one down our throats and we ate the bait. Any of the other ones would have been able to at least gain 60% of our vote and saved the party. Now I don't know.

    • Posted By: lilhope @ 06/01/2008 1:11:09 PM

After all of these years, and look where experience have gotten us. Let us not give McCain and the Republican Party the satisfaction. Do you not understand that this is what they want? If we, the Democrats continue to be divided.

      • Posted By: TruthForward @ 06/01/2008 1:37:56 PM

McCain is still recovering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder from being a POW. That will cause permanent damage.

  • Posted By: jflash97 @ 06/01/2008 10:23:49 AM

The mentality of "If my candidate doesn't win, I'm taking my ball and going home" is utterly amazing to me. These people would rather perpetuate the downward spiral this country is in and vote for someone that is going to continue the policies of our current president. Why? Bruised egos? As an Obama supporter, I can't stand the tactics Clinton has used throughout the campaign but if she somehow pulled this off, I would still vote for her in the general election because I understand the dire consequences of going the other way.

    • Posted By: lilhope @ 06/01/2008 1:18:21 PM

I agree with you wholeheartedly, jflash97. Can you honestly believe that these are parents, grandparents, teachers, most importantly the working classing citizens who are setting a good example (SARCASM) for their children by demonstrating lack of maturity? In other words, if we do not get what we want then we will vote for McCain or stay at home. I have a few things to say, vote for McCain or stay home, but I will guarantee you this, you will not be hurting Hilliary, Obama or the Democratic Party, you will instead be hurting yourselves and the future lives of your children and grandchildren. You think that the Bush Administration is terrible. Imagine what it would be like when McCain becomes President. McCain will destroy this country. In fact, he and the Republican Party are not only laughing at us for making genuine fools of ourselves by prolonging this primary with so much division, but are merely using these turn of events as an advantage (tactic) that can be held against us(Democrats) during the General Election. How can we be expected to unify The Democratic Party if we continue to proceed with disrespecting each other? My guess we will not be ready for the General Election as long as we prolong this hostility. This is very good news for McCain. Also remember this, the decision to seat all the delegates for Florida and Michigan with half the votes was extremely fair. To me this was represented as, those who voted and those who did not vote due to the fact they were informed that their voice would not be heard (votes not counted). Please understand, I am sure this was not to intentionally take away from those who did vote, but also to include those who wanted to vote, but did not. We must get pass the praising of one???s candidate and focus more on the issues because voting Democratic will certainly be better than voting McCainomics.

The Hillary supporters came to Washington and made fools of themselves. They showed no class when they seated FL and MI fair. Those two States broke party rules and although I do agree that the people have nothing to do with it, they were told that there votes would not count. I don't tthink it has anything to do with count our votes, it has to do with Hillary being a woman and that she is also white. Did you see who came to Washington? People from Ken and Ohio and WV. Those were the people who came out to protest. Not many came from FL, and little came from MI. These people came from States that already said that they want a white person in the White House. That is whats sad about this election. The majority of racist white people were hiding and not telling there fellow man and woman how they felt about blacks. Now that a black man can become the next President, there hatred is coming out in ful force. They even said that they don't care if McCain becomes the President and ruins the Country, they are not voting for a black man. This is sad and that is why nobody wants to help America anymore. They laugh at us because we talk about spreading Democracy and yet, we can't even get blacks and whites to join in unity. White people hate us so much that they would sabatoge an election just to make sure that a black man don't become the next President. I hope White America is proud of themselves. They showed there true colors yesterday in Washington.

The DNC didn't HAVE to give either Florida or Michigan ANYTHING. While candidates can be divisive with their remarks, it appears that some of the people in this country are causing divisions because of their attitudes.

Vote for McCain. It's your choice. You will be no better off in four years and more of your rights will have been taken away. You won't be any safer because most of our military will be somewhere else. But, hey, you'll show the DNC, won't you? It's all about you and Hillary.

Get over yourselves - and take a good look at what your candidate is doing or has done to you.
