She thinks all this talk about her is going to get her the VP slot but all it's doing is making people dislike her even more. If that's even possible. She is low class, cold and calculating. And to all her Hillariacs out there "STOP TRYING TO HOLD THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY HOSTAGE! THERE IS NO RACE FOR VP!!!THE ONLY THING SHE HAS EARNED IS A TRIP BACK TO NEW YORK!!!"

Will you new Yorkers get your girl!!

    Thank you. Obama 08

    • Posted By: News and Notes @ 06/04/2008 2:02:22 PM

What are you talking about? There is no basis to say she is demanding to be vice president.

  • Posted By: dieharddem @ 06/04/2008 1:17:59 PM

Dems ought to get real. Wait and see how Senator Obama fairs this Fall. Hillary haters think Hillary has baggage well Obama has lots too. Guess what he comes from Chicago politics. There are sure to be more scandals waiting for the Republicans to jump on to add to inexperience. I think Dems better work together and Obama supporter are wise to start pandering to Hillarys supporters. Many of us are old, and old time Democrates. I've lived through plenty of bad and questionable presidents. I for one will be relieved when Bush leaves office. He was so bad anything is better. And for those of you who idealize Reagon including Senotor Obama it was a great day for me when he and his cronies finally left Washington. Yes, I have seen a lot of change over the years and have never been impressed by it. Call me cynical but Democrates have a long way to go this Fall. Having a real message would be a beginning.

    • Posted By: Zig Zag @ 06/04/2008 2:01:17 PM

Yeah, but Hillary has some really big baggage - it's called a smooth talking gentleman who likes to eat Big Macs and find a little honey to give a poke to every now and then.

    • Posted By: Alvy @ 06/04/2008 1:46:12 PM

See Jalinney - you have an opinion and decided to choose someone other than Obama. This guy however is stupid.

  • Posted By: cougar1 @ 06/04/2008 1:59:12 PM

The Clinton???s see the reformation of their political legacy through either Senator Obama???s defeat or his demise. Senator Obama should identify his vice-presidential running mate within the next week. The choice of Hillary Clinton will guarantee Senator Obama???s defeat in November. A selection of Clinton would be such a monumental lapse in judgment that his ability to actually be president would be called into question by his avid supporters. The so-called Clinton supporters who will not support Obama are few in number and in actuality are not individuals who would support a Democrat in a general election, including Clinton. All Clinton???s candidacy has demonstrated is that Obama can???t win the support of individuals who will never vote for a Democrat in a general election.

Wake up democrats, hillary only cares about herself, and everything she does and says, points to that fact! Can you imagine, hillary and bill back in the White House. Obama might have won the presidency, but he wouldn't be the one answering the phone at 3:00 am or any other time during the day. You won't see hillary sharing "The Power" with anyone, even bill! Democrats thanks for the free circus, and it's only just begun!

    • Posted By: loriw @ 06/04/2008 1:38:21 PM

Plenty of Republicans also suffered the humiliation for what Bill did while in the White House. He ignored foreign affairs abroad while he had affairs with broads domestically. Do we blame the Republicans for being bitter about that? At least GWB and his father treated their wives with the respect a First Lady deserves.

      • Posted By: News and Notes @ 06/04/2008 1:55:43 PM

They treated their wives with respect and didn't give one good damn about the other 300,000,000 people in the country. The Bush's only care about their super rich cronies. They are not interested in the rest of us. Your comment is irrelevant

    • Posted By: Thevail @ 06/04/2008 1:17:15 PM

By your last line, I take it that you're a republican who just felt they HAD to weigh in. You guys are relentlessly obnoxious.

    • Posted By: News and Notes @ 06/04/2008 1:13:52 PM

In that case, on January 20, 2009i t will be, "I John McCain, do solemnly swear..."

  • Posted By: francie @ 06/04/2008 9:40:25 AM

I am an ardent Hillary supporter but would not even venture the thought of voting for Obama just because Hillary is on the ticket, flat and simple!! The true core of Hillary supporters (and in my circle there are many of them...some of whom I have even converted and have become more ardent than me...if that is possible) would not consider voting for Obama for several reasons...his untruthfulness about his ties to his church, and more important than that, his ungracious, unthankful wife who achieved so much (thanks to this country) and continues to make her snide remarks. She is certainly not "First Lady" material and certainly nowhere near the category of "Camelot" (and niether is he for that matter). There is additional material being brought out about Mrs. Obama in the coming months and I am anxious to hear the reporting on it. My family and I have been life-long democrats but will sit this election out!!

    • Posted By: Congrats _Obama! @ 06/04/2008 9:54:31 AM

Please do sit it out. Who gives a damn. Not I. Anyone who can not see how phony and manipulating Hillary Clinton is is obviously blind and shouldn't be voting anyway. She is running for no one but herself! Wake up and smell the coffee! She has no idea what it is like to be a middle or lower class American citizen, and doesn't care. She will never be one.

Also, give m e a break. If all you can hold against Barack Obama is that rediculous church fiasco, you definitely shouldn't be voting in any election. Get real!

      • Posted By: DeniseM @ 06/04/2008 10:05:02 AM

How about the fact that he splapped his wife's back side as he took to the podium last night? Very classy guy. He will not be President...the Democratic Committee has made another BIG mistake....unfortunately it will be four more years for the Republican's in the White House.

        • Posted By: Luridmoon @ 06/04/2008 1:49:38 PM

Are you for real? are you actually using this as ammo against Obama? This is getting to the point of desperation on your part. I mean, seriously, other than yourself, who cares if he slapped his wife's behind? My husband has done the same to me, as i am sure MILLIONS have done to their wives. What, do you think it was "demeaning"? He was happy and excited ,and was being playful with his wife. Are you even married? I find it hard to believe that any married woman would get in a tiff over this. Word to the wise: GET OVER IT!
          and have a nice day

    • Posted By: tranestop @ 06/04/2008 10:15:55 AM

I can tell by your comment that you voted for Mrs. Clinton solely because she is a woman. You really did not give any regard to her political ideology. If you did, you would see that it is very similar to Mr. Obama. Your comments about Mr. Obama's wife and future impending gossip gives me the impression that you watch far too many soap opera's. That you would sit out an election and possibly allow Mr. McCain to become president shows that you do not care about the values of the candidate you support or this country. Do you really believe that Obama is against women? Do you really think that Mrs. Clinton will sit home, pout and not vote in this election? For you and all of your little "waiting to exhale"crew, I have one suggestion. Inhale sometimes...it increases brain activity and function.

      • Posted By: Luridmoon @ 06/04/2008 1:38:01 PM

OMG tranestop, that was awesome! Thumbs up to u, you have some sense!

    • Posted By: crymsondragonfire @ 06/04/2008 9:54:43 AM

How many things have the Clintons lied about? The Clinton's lies are far worse than any little white lie that Obama may have told about some thing that should have remained personal...re: his church and personal life. How many people, from Bill's days as Gov. through his presidency, have died under mysterious circumstances?

The Clintons are sore losers and have no integrity whatsoever.

      • Posted By: TeriEast @ 06/04/2008 10:18:51 AM

Why do you Obama supporters feel that it is ok to attack the Clinton's on a personal level, but feel that Obama's life should be kept secret? If he does not have anything to hide, there should be no issue.

    • Posted By: Mrs. Jones @ 06/04/2008 9:55:27 AM

If you choose to sit out this election, francie and friends, it is you who will hurt in the end. If your support for Hillary was ever based on issues and not some intangible notions, then you will support Obama. If you choose to bring up Obama's church--when you probably spent very little time trying to find out actual facts about it instead of following the soundbites-- or because of something his wife said one day several months ago, then you weren't going to vote for him anyway. Those arguments are very flimsy and saying MObama is not 'First Lady' material is just as stupid as people saying HClinton is not 'presidential' because she's always in pantsuits.

  • Posted By: Bluegrass Woman @ 06/04/2008 9:42:45 AM

Oops....spastic 'O'. Should have read, "Obama" and "woman". Just making a correction to my last comment; and, to say, not voting in the general election because your woman isn't on the ticket is very much like cutting off your nose to spite your face. Think...we need to bring real issues before the American people. The issues are not about gender. Both men and women die in war. Poverty, illness and unemployment do not respect gender, age or race. Would you really stay away from the polls when your vote could be the deciding one cast, which would help relieve the deep suffering in this country? I certainly hope the words were written/spoken in the heat of the moment....that in the coolness of thought we can come
    together.
no respectorsbiIt's time to stop the in-fighting and concentrate on doing what is best for the America that we love.

  • Posted By: thundercat @ 06/04/2008 11:05:53 AM

john edwards shold be vice president !!!! he and barack will do great things on bringing our country back

    • Posted By: kayster @ 06/04/2008 11:11:43 AM

Yeah, please do make that glory seeking John Edwards VP. He runs for Senator of NC and is only in office a few months before he jumps ship to run with Kerry as VP. That shows how much he really wanted to work for us in NC. Then he gives speeches about the poor in this country while living in this mega-mansion in Chapel Hill (where I work). Gimme me a break!!! Hypocrisy be thou middle name John Edwards, yeah, he would make a grand VP for Obama!!! They'd match up real well.

      • Posted By: Johnsonium @ 06/04/2008 1:20:33 PM

You are wrong. Edwards was in the Senate more than "a couple of months". Additionally, so what if he's rich. At least he acknowledges the need for him to help others up. That's better that sipping chardonnay and sitting on your ass while people suffer, like other rich folk.

  • Posted By: chernota @ 06/04/2008 12:45:43 PM

I think there are other people who bring the pluses of Clinton to the table without the negatives... For example, I believe that Heath Shuler would be an excellent selection for a running mate...

    • Posted By: News and Notes @ 06/04/2008 1:15:52 PM

two underexperienced candidates on the ticket?

  • Posted By: volakis @ 06/04/2008 12:51:29 PM

NO CLINTON ON THE TICKET!!! Absolutely not! If the Obama team does such a thing they will alienate most of their base supporters. She represents everything that I can't stand about "business as usual" politicians. Get her out of here...pick JOE BIDEN or some other senator who is much more qualified and commanding. I never want to see another Clinton in the White House ever again....and I voted for Bill ....TWICE!!!

    • Posted By: loriw @ 06/04/2008 1:13:24 PM

      Ditto.
No more Clintons in the White House.
End the Hill&Billy soap opera drama.
They are past history and bad history at that!

  • Posted By: SC-Democat @ 06/04/2008 9:52:48 AM

I think that Obama should really consider selecting H. Clinton as his running mate (VP). This would bring about unity within the party and hopefully keep some of Hillary supporters votes. I am a very strong Obama supporter and would vote for him regardless to who is on the ticket with him. However, I think that for the sake of unity and support from others that he should select her for his VP and that she should accept. We all know that Hillary did not have the most votes ever submitted for a Presidential candidate, we all know that she has resorted to similar tactics the BUSH campaign demonstrated during his elections, and we all know the various comments that she has made to try and tear down Obama, but in the spirit of unity and assurance of a victory inthe White House this November, I think that slecting her would unite our democratic party.

    • Posted By: Luridmoon @ 06/04/2008 1:00:07 PM

      Here we go-
YES, let's all bow down to HilRod and hand her the VP slot on a silver platter to appease her and her horde of die hard fans, despite all the underhanded and malicious things she has said and done. That sounds like a great idea! and while we are at it, let's invade Iran and set up permanent shop there, let's also let global companies sit in the pockets of the heads of government, and BEST OF ALL, free abortions for everyone who needs one!!! Let's make the taxpayers foot the bill! YES!

  • Posted By: News and Notes @ 06/04/2008 12:55:40 PM

I don't know why Hillary is getting so much grief. Yesterday once she realized she was not going to be the nominee, and she was asked for the 100,000th time, she merely confirmed she would be "open to the idea" of being vice president. She didn't concede last night becuase people were still voting until 10PM EST, and it was actually superdelegate party elites who put Obama over the top. She's got 18 million constituents, many of whom are more moderate than Obama. Leave her alone. She'll come around. Why are the insults still being hurled?

    • Posted By: Thevail @ 06/04/2008 12:59:53 PM

Not by me..and I'm an Obama supporter! I'm advocating a stiff drink and a freakin' nap to EVERYONE on both sides. We are all too "wound tight" as my mother used to say about the dog.

  • Posted By: Woodbridge @ 06/04/2008 11:31:27 AM

Clinton does NOT want to be VP - she seems to think she deserves a co-presidency spot

            Based on a true story...

  • Posted By: mickcastillo @ 06/04/2008 12:58:32 PM

He should not put her on the ballot! A graceful opponent would have said last night the he/she would concede the victory by Obama and start putting her resources behind him. She however opts to do what she did with the hopes of literally blackmailing the presumptive nominee." If I can't have it, I will make your life miserable!" For that reason alone she does not deserve the ballot! Obviously there is some animosity there and what happens when he wins the presidency? He will have to bow to her wishes? That is not a strong White House! One last question? Would she have appreciated his holding out on her like this, if she was the winner? And is Fr Fleger right?

  • Posted By: alison52 @ 06/04/2008 12:30:25 PM

    Obama/Feinstein 08

The perfect ticket: Senator Feinstein was the first female President of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, San Francisco's first and only female mayor, the first woman to serve in the Senate from California, one of two female Jewish senators, the first woman to serve on the Senate Judiciary Committee, and the first woman to chair the Rules and Administration committee of that body.

    Howard Fineman, please take note!

    • Posted By: sjpersonal @ 06/04/2008 12:58:07 PM

No not Feinstein she is really weak on illegal immigration, and other issues that are important to me and many other Californians.

The party needs to reconcile, but that doesn't all fall on Obama. Most of that responsibility falls on Clinton. Really she should concede and endorse him and encourage her supporters to support him. If she really cares about the Democratic party in November. She has more power than anyone to bring her followers on board. Similar to Edwards, etc. Obama should be gracious, etc. But so should she. If she wants to be VP, holding out is not the right way to do it. Yes, she is a strong candidate. She is strong, but she is a . . . . .

I think he will upset a lot of his followers if he chooses her. It may be a smart move in politically, but I don't think it would be the best choice.

    • Posted By: News and Notes @ 06/04/2008 12:48:51 PM

She is a what? He exponentially increases his chances of winning with her

    • Posted By: kshortSD @ 06/04/2008 12:12:04 PM

I don't think he wants to choose her. I think he knows he should offer it to her, in the hopes that she won't accept it. I think she wants the offer, but doesn't necessarily want the job. It's a tricky dance, eh?

  • Posted By: ladyprof @ 06/04/2008 12:43:57 PM

Given Clinton's level of hubris, I would not be at all surprised if the speculation above is correct. She's already shown repeatedly that she doesn't play well with others and ALWAYS puts her own welfare first. Why would we expect anything different now? (Before you attack me as a sexist, let me point out several facts: I'm a women's studies professor at a university, and a woman. But even more important, it is JUST as sexist to vote for a women because she IS a woman as it is sexist to vote against her because she is a woman.)

  • Posted By: Thevail @ 06/04/2008 12:43:24 PM

Classic, absolutely classic. Some media guy says something bound to inflame both sides..and everybody goes for it hook, line, and sinker.

No matter what "sources" say, you'll notice Clinton hasn't said much, and Obama has said even less.

So what from a factual perspective do we actually have here?

Yesterday, long before he "went over the top" but long after Clinton realized that he would do that last night. Clinton said she'd do whatever it takes, she's open to the VP offer if that comes. (OK, who isn't?) And I presume she's also open to one of her supporters being chosen, or whoever is best for dems in the fall. That's what "doing whatever it takes" means.
A lot of Clinton supporters want her to be VP, but maybe she doesn't want to, maybe she does who knows. Fineman doesn't, nobody does. They're all just trying to fill the HUGE gap left in the news cycle with anything they can find.

And Obama has said "she's on my short list", and he's said "it's premature to talk about it" and he's said a lot of nice things about Clinton in almost every speech. Does he want her as VP, who knows? Once again, "anonymous sources" say X and Y, but Obama hasn't said anything one way or another. But I can assume he doesn't want to be FORCED to choose her. That weakens both of them and the whole ticket. And all this lovely media hype trying to create a story we'll all tune in for is the most damaging thing the press could do to the democrats right now. This story, if it ends up catching fire and becomes this sort of bizzare angry circus just makes him look weak, and her look pushy and unwanted looks unwanted..nice. Actually it would be NICE only for Republicans and the media.

And I'm sure that there are Clinton supporters who don't want to see another female on the ticket right now because they'd see it as "replacing Hillary". But there are also female supporters who DO want to see a female in the VP slot if they couldn't win the presidency this time. It would still be the first female VP EVER. A great thing for feminists everywhere by any standard.

These two have run a hard campaign, AGAINST each other. I'm sure both sides are still bruised, give 'em a day or two to objectively decide IF they could really work together. They have two VERY different styles, and two VERY different ideas of governance. And right now (being human) I'm sure they'd just love to slam doors at each other like pissed off roomates.

But all this "gossip", and "speculation", and "anonymous sources VERY VERY close to the (people involved)" sure seem to be saying EXACTLY what the media in its wildest dreams want to hear, so take it with a grain of salt. For the next week the media will be like children who need a nap throwing a fit to get attention.

God knows, we democrats can divide ourelves just fine. We don't ned the media's freaking help.
Dems, let them make up their own minds, and do
