    BO's new GE slogan:

CAN'T WE ALL JUST GET ALONG?

  • Posted By: fonsoc @ 06/04/2008 9:59:08 AM

Obama winning the nomination is a disaster. Hillary as a running mate would be a calamity. Neither of them are fit to be President of this country. They are both deceitful and not to be trusted. Hillary has been caught lying so much that nobody should trust her on anything she says. Obama is lying about being a Christian and doesn't even know what a Christian is when he says Christ isn't essentail to salvation. I am strongly convinced that he still has strong Muslim leanings and his church attendance is a smoke screen to cover his covert activities on behalf of radical Muslims. He has proved his dishonesty by courting those who are already anti-American in his political posturing as everyone knows (Cuba? and etc.?) and he has failed to visit the commander in chief in Iraq to get a clear picture of the war. Anyone who votes for him is deluded.

    • Posted By: Luridmoon @ 06/04/2008 11:47:06 AM

Talk about being deluded! Delusion is actually believing "God" and religion has a place in politics. And by the way- I too do not believe that being a Christian is "essential" to salvation. So does that mean I am also harboring ties to radical muslims? What a joke- and by the way, trying to choose a politician because of his religious beliefs is the dumbest thing i have ever heard- politicians are the first to break the rules! Infidelity, narcisissm, money laundering, drugs- all of these are commonplace on Capitol Hill. If Obama is using Christianity as a smoke screen, well, so is 98% of everyone else in Washington.

For those considering McCain I say this, he is to old and has betrayed the military, our sons and daughters suffering in Iraq while we stand around and debate what to do. He sat in a vietnam prision while the same thing happened and it was a change in parties that freed him. I am not sure how many people remember our farmers living under bridges with their famileis while Ronald Reagan had lost his mind and the republican party ran the white house, but do you want to do that again? They do, thats why they picked him. I sy get someone young, smart, has energy and still has dreams of what the world could be with hard work and determination. We dont want someone that just wants to sit around for 8 years and then collect his presidental pension. Last I would like to say, he represents, loves and adors Bush, do we really want to hand over America to the Chinese because we cant pay they 2 trillion dollars off? Do we want hand them more debt? It was Bush that sat back for 8 years and let corporations give away our technology to China. Heck we even pay them to relocate our jobs. McCain will be just like Bush, he will spend 4 years engrossed in trying to be a winner in Iraq and never thinking about, what the hell does winning look like. Mean while we just keep loosing our jobs, our homes and our children. We have to take care of kids torn up from war. Republicans never seem to have the balls to show pity on the soldiers that survive the wars they create.

Excuse me, I think he was another President who signed NAFTA and gave away the jobs in this country to China...that would be BILL CLINTON and not George Bush.

      • Posted By: cfrancis34 @ 06/04/2008 11:44:16 AM

Excuse me, you should check your history, NAFTA was started in 1988 under H. W. Bush, Clinton just continued it.

      • Posted By: Tx_longbow @ 06/04/2008 11:28:45 AM

NAFTA, is a trade agreement to eliminate taxes on godd sold in other countries. It never said corporations could move to other countries and the American tax payer would pay for it. Since GWB hs been in office, corporations have been tipping over themselves in the rush to reduce having to pay an American fair wage. Executives have given themselves multi-million dollar bonus's for eliminating jobs their main customers need to buy their products. Whenoil companies tried to rase gas prices, Bill Clinton came down on them hard. Bush just sets back and counts his money with his sellout father (the one collecting multi-million dollar consulting fees from OPEC countries). NAFTA was to help sell our products in other countries and help us afford products from other countries. Greed from the elete rich (promoted by bush tax payments) ruined this economy. The filthy rich in this country dont want mexicans mowing their lawns, they want poor Americans kissing their asses, mowing their lawns and cleaning their houses. And if they dont have enough poor folks, they will do what ever it takes to make more or them, they just have to fire a few thousand and get a bonus for doing it.

        >> McCain will be just like Bush, he will spend 4 years engrossed in trying to be a winner in Iraq
The definition of "winning in Iraq" is that a terrorist group does NOT recruit a mentally handicapped person, strap a nuclear device to them, and detonate it in the middle of NYC (or some other major metropolitan area). THAT is the challenge of the next President - I don't care if it is Billary, Obama, or McCain.

The difference between Republicans and Democrats - Repulicans accept that reality. Democrats don't (or that is where the lines exists to me). NO ONE wants our loved ones over there - Republicans or Democrats, because we are ALL Americans. Bring the troops home early - that scenario happens sooner - keep them out there - probably delays it. In my mind - it is inevitable. It like an earthquake - you know it is coming, you cannot stop it - and when it is will occur is nearly impossible to predict. But it is coming, because nuclear proliferation is inevitable because of Russia, Korea, and now - even more meanancing ... Iran.

Everyone talks about race and gender. The truth is that this election will come down to age & experience. Obama's young followers do think that they're generation is "entitled" to the presidency. Anyone who has a job sees the "I'm ready to be the boss already" because I just graduated College attitude.

Obama should and will lose because of age & experience. The shame is that the media will blame racism. I could live with either Hillary or McCain as president. Obama talks a good game (when he's scripted by someone older); however, when speaking with a teleprompter, his age and inexperience jump out.

Great ideas are one thing. Actually implementing great ideas is a totally different animal.

    • Posted By: Mrs. Jones @ 06/04/2008 9:09:42 AM

KB- your 'facts' are a bit off. Age and 'experience' have often proven to be downfalls. The youth of the world, be it Jesus, Joan of Arc, or King, were not afraid to fight and move forward when many 'experienced' individuals would not or could not do it. And as for the scripted part--I think you need to check your facts. He composes his own speeches and then works with a VERY YOUNG writer to help improve them. Not sure how speaking with a teleprompter causes a problem, unless you meant to write 'without.'

      • Posted By: KB_Indy @ 06/04/2008 9:19:03 AM

Wow. There are "exceptions" to every rule/age bracket.; however, to put Obama in the same context as Jesus, Joan of Arc, or King is not only premature, it is pitiful. You demonstrate the misguided messanic appeal that blinds his followers as to who he his. I don't think he's a bad person. He might be an okay president; however, he doesn't have the experience to run a company, let alone a country.

Yes, thank you for correcting my typo (it should've been "without.) I have seen him stumble with answers in interviews. You believe what you read. I believe what I see (maybe that's another difference in our ages.) I have seen him in interviews. his inexperience as he struggles for a line (answer) is painful.

        • Posted By: Mrs. Jones @ 06/04/2008 11:43:57 AM

Actually, my analogy, which you apparently missed, was a reference to your comment about age being more important. People use that as an excuse when they are afraid to change. And I'm not in the under 30 crowd. I've followed elections for years and also have the good sense to read to get more information that the brief bits of info I get from the television or Youtube.

Last night Mrs. Clinton said wanted to hear from the American people on how to proceed in uniting the party and electing a Democratic President. However, in order to gain entrance to her website, you first have to vote to support her. Funny, how her website reflects her approach to politics - calculating, twisting independents into supporters, and counting fictional numbers into a majority. Glad this whole mess is over.

False logic, rcrfwt. Obama was not mentioned in my post and your response is disingenuous. I merely stated that Being A Woman does not ??? in any way ??? align Hillary Clintin with me, despite the fact that we are both women.

And you are wong. Many many people have a value system in alignment with mine .. and some of them are even women!!.

Why should we be surprised??? After all, black Americans earned the right to vote several years before women. Women are still viewed as second class citizens and less capable in leadership roles.
John McCain will be the next President because most Hilary supporters will absolutely not back Barack Obama. At least John McCain recognizes the contributions Hilary Clinton has made to this county.

Every speech broadcast of Obama recently, he has heaped praises on Clinton. Too bad she won't do the same.

    • Posted By: democrat for life @ 06/04/2008 12:26:52 AM

The only reason McCain says anything nice about Hillary is because he is hoping to win Hillary supporters. He could really care less about anything positive she has done. If she had won the nomination, you can bet your bottom that he wouldn't have kind words for her.

You are probably right , but reading the comments of the Obama supporters with all the hatred and lies about the Clintons we don't even want to be in the same party with them. If this is the Democratic Party, it is time to look for other affiliation. I don't know where this people lived during the 90-s when Bill was president, but those were the best years of America.

You're overlooking the fact that while, yes African-American MEN were granted suffrage with the passage of the 15th amendment, African-American men and women were beaten and killed trying to exercise that right. There were also many laws passed--poll taxes, literacy tests, closed primaries--that prevented African-Americans from voting, along with intimidation from employers and landlords. These similar things did not occur when the 19th amendment was passed.

I have no doubt that Hillary will launch an independent run for the presidency, thereby guaranteeing an Obama loss. Always remember, and repeat after me: IT'S NOT ABOUT THE PARTY OR ABOUT THE COUNTRY; IT'S ALL ABOUT THE CLINTONS!

You are correct, sir! It is all about the Clintons.

However, there will be no independent run for the presidency from Hillary Clinton. She couldn't win, and she has too much to lose within the Demo party. Her campaign has been stupid, but she is not.

Ya, I like Powell too. At least he left the white house when he realized he was working for a snot nosed turkey. He is one of the minute few in goverment that would rather quit over morality than sell out and collect a paycheck.

  • Posted By: mystic88 @ 06/04/2008 11:22:55 AM

I think he (Obama) should look at Colin Powell. That may be too much change for the country to absorb, but would be a great ticket. Hillary didn't concede the nomination yet because she's still hoping someone will assasinate Obama.

If Obama didn't know his pastor was a racist hater of white people and America after listening to his sermons for 20 years, then he is either a liar or a slow learner and if it is the latter than I would not like to have him cutting his teeth on the oval office! Wake up and think people!! Don't be led around like a bunch of lemmings by the media!!! Use your own brains people. At least I know McCain loves his country. He has proved that!

    • Posted By: USA4life @ 06/04/2008 11:28:22 AM

A hater of white people..how many times in American history has an official been elected to any public office that was a hater of black people, Mexicans, chinese, the Native Americans??? I'll tell you..every since slaves built the White House for a President..and you are upset because someone is percieved to hate white people?..like thats unimaginable for it to be concieved. American officials funded many bills and laws that supported the oppression of human beings because of color, religion and etc. Although havein hate in your heart is not what the Bible preaches...many people of all races are angry and they have their own way of expressing that anger. Obama has never stated he hates anyone. If anything, rev Wright may have inspired Obama to try and make a difference in this country instead of settling for hatred.

He has no clue what do with the economy so he will continue to fund wars..He and Bush dont know how to build..they just know how to destroy and kill.

If Hillary could take her foot off the pedal, lay down that publically cocked gun to Obama's head, show him the same respect he has shown her, then she can at least be considered for the spot. I have other ob jections to her on the ticket but would trust his judgement about that. But I will not accept her presense on the ticket as a result of blatant coercion.

Hillary should take this to the convention, but will likely be strong armed not to, "for the sake of the party". She would be blamed anyway if Obama loses to McCain, which will likely happen, especially if she is not VP. Obama got this nomination with a free ride, completely unvetted, despite serious pastor scandals and "bitter" comments that the GOP will use viciously through November. And what a slap int he face to all women. A woman with little national experience and virutally no credibility would NEVER be elevated as serious Presidential candidate material (remember Mosley-Brown?). Here is the most qualified applicant for the most powerful position in the world..and the best we have is Obama? The fringe left will regret not only their overzealous and idealist follies, but the constant negative attcks on Hillary as if SHE were the enemy (i.e. Ed Shultz, Stephanie Miller, Keith Olberman)..shameful, outrageous, and patently offensive to all women. let's hope for the best..Maybe superdelgates will get "buyers remorse" and realize what they have done before the convention. Maybe Clintonw ill accept a more powerful and visible VP position. Maybe the 18 million voters and supporters of Hillary will pressure superdelgates, delegates and DNC leaders...to honor th evoice of the people, espeicaly in the states we need to win in November and states we could win over to blus. WAKE UP...dim the lights, turn from the rock star dazzle, read beyond the speeches, and you will find the ONLY REAL choice for President. Hillary Clinton.

phillygal get on the bandwagon or stay off it. I don't care. Hillary will not be the next President of the United States. So quit stewing and decide if you think it's just great the way this country is going. Do you want to see your social security be blown in Iraq? That's where McCain is going. To stay in Iraq as long as needed. Sometimes you need to pull the plug on a bad investment. That's what Iraq is/was. Contrary to the doomsayers. The world will not end if we leave Iraq. In fact if we tell Iraq their is a timetable. Iraq's government might actually get off their asses and stand up for their country. So if you voted for Hillary then I assume you are a Democrat. Which is it phillygal? American first, Democrat second or is it Hillary surrogate second? Just remeber if you don't like the Iraq war. Their is a chance with McCain as President. That someone you know may serve in Iraq and be killed or injured. Yes it could occur with Obama to But which one of the candidates wants us out of Iraq more. Think about that. All you Dems who supported Hillary and are so eager to vote for McCain. Cutting off your nose to spite your face is not a rational decision.

Phily, as a woman I don't find Sen Obama's nomination in the least offensive. The least sexist way of deciding a presidential race is leaving gender out of it completely and deciding on who you think merits the job based on their past performance and present judgements, rather than whether they are a man/woman. Your comment is more offensive to me to think that some women will use 'sexism' to decide whether they want to let a republican back into office, or either democrat with virtually the same ideals....
