Everone blames Bush, he is one man that WE THE PEOPLE give direction to. The House and the Senate are controlled by big industry. The Clinton years were good because the path set BEFORE him. He created free trade, and took all our jobs overseas. China is buying our oil and food and our prices are going up while exporters and big oil reap huge profits. The MAJORITY know this was all CLINTON'S fault, and that is why Hillary could not EVER become president. We didn't trust her when she made all the wrong decisions for Bill, and don't trust her know. Sad that she seemed to have a lot of votes, but they were by so many people dicided to vote for woman, or NOT to vote for a black. That kind of shallow thinking it what puts BUSHIES in power.

Offer Hillary Clinton the VP slot so she can turn it down....."why in the world would he demean himself and his accomplishment?" People fail to realize that he is the front runner, not Hillary Clinton. Why would he let her dictate to him? This shows you just how selfish Hillary and her supporters are. If Obama was to come in second, he would be "EXPECTED" to bow out gracefully, which has a racial undertone. As for not selecting Gov. Kathleen Sebelius as a VP because Hillary once again is being selfish is nonsense. I would like for all Democrats to think about winning instead of satisfying their egos. Hillary lost the nomination...END OF STORY! She should do what every other Democratic candidate would do in her position; help unite the party and support the nominee.

This whole primary season has been skewed tremendously by the news media and their relentless pursuit of novelty. First it was Hillary Clinton who got unbelieveable amounts of free press ever since she was elected as an inexperienced, carpetbagging junior senator from New York, covered because she was a woman with a famous name. Initially, she was anointed the "inevitable winner" by the press, until they noticed that someone even more novel was running, a completely inexperienced black man who can give a good speech. The press began covering him extremely closely and favorably, patting themselves on the back about how "progressive" they and voters were for daring to vote for a black man in America. All of the truly experienced and knowledgeable Democratic candidates were virtually ignored by the press, making it impossible for them to break through. This obsession with novelty, which is extremely reminiscent of the pop phenomemon of American Idol, led to Hillary and Obama being the only Dems the press let people consider.Electing the President of the United States is not something that should be left to the Flavor of the Month club. We have to consider what we know about the candidates, their proven experience, and their true views. We are left with Obama on the Democratic side; he has served in the Senate for essentially only one year, and has not done much while there. We have no real record of voting in the Senate to consider in trying to understand if he is truly a reasonable person, or if he perhaps truly agrees with radicals like Rev. Wright. His rating as the most liberal Senator by the National Journal makes it very worrisome that he may indeed be UNreasonable - we just don't have enough data to make a decision. Can we really elect a candidate with ONE year of true experience who is very likely very extreme in his views? This is a very scary election.

Doc-the information is there and not difficult to find it you want it:
      http://www.ontheissues.org/Barack_Obama.htm
Don't blame the media if you choose not to get information on the other candidates who were running. Additionally, there were plenty of articles available, in the beginning, on them in major newspapers.

It just makes so much sense for Obama to offer Hilary the VP slot on the ticket, that it probably will not happen. Don't see how they could lose. Anyone else for Vice President, and Obama is leaving it up to chance.

Obama, without a strong VP candidate is just another McGovern, Mondale, or Dukakis. A candidate by the left, for the left, without much appeal for the rest of us Democrats.

I don't understand how anyone who is intelligent voted for Hillary at all. She has been caught in so many lies over her career that nobody who is even slightly smart should trust her on anything. As far as Obama.
Once a Muslim - always a muslim. His cover up claiming to go to church but denying Christ is essential to salvation should show everyone who knows anything about Christianity that he is a farce, and anyone who can see through that lie should wonder what other lies he is going to tell to get what he wants.

Hey Obama supporters, don't get too worked up with the comments of all the "Clinton Supporters" here. You'd have to be fairly naive not to realize that message boards like this are crawling with Republican trolls posing as Clintonites trying to sew a little dissent in the Democratic party Sure many of the messages are legit, but many are just plain fake. Go back to the airport men's room, trolls.

If Hillary really wanted to unite the party, she would have done it last night. She had the truly best opportunity to reach the largest amount of democrats last evening. Could you imagine the response if she said that because she loves the democrats who voted for her as well as Obama and because she was putting the fight against McCain above all else, she would back her fellow democrat. She is a force whose power is not to be taken lightly but a force none the less who put herself first above the democrats who she vowed to work for. Regardless what happens now it is time to put games away.

Gragulation goes to both candidates. Hillary has a lot of supporters that OBAMA needs. OBAMA supporters need to stop thinking as if he does not need her. If her supporters cross over to vote Republican because of the negative attitudes of everyone, then OBAMA will not win in November!!!! American knows that if she is on that ticket then it will be a clean swept to the White House. We all need to pull together and stop hating on Hillary Clinton. Let's make history all the way, a black president and a women vice president. You talking about a expolsive ticket. Everyone needs to be mindful of what is going on.

You said it my friend, best to think about the consequences of 4 (8) more years of the Bush Administration. The Presidency is NOT going to be an immediate fix for our problems in this country but it will be a start. Remember the old addage: Smart people talk about ideas, changes and how to make a difference, mediocre people talk about THINGS, the rest talk about 'other people', Where do you fit in?

    • Posted By: Concerned Ctzn @ 06/04/2008 9:53:44 AM

Please, it's gonna take BO 4 years just to pull-out all the Hill daggers lodged in his back from this bitter primary.

I think it is wonderful that Obama won the nomination and I hope he ask Sen Edwards to be his VP running mate

    • Posted By: sharenews @ 06/04/2008 2:51:18 AM

Seems like a reasonable choice as there is no way that Hillary will accept it not matter what this guys says whoe wrote this Newsweek article. Aint gonna happen.... although she might use the angle to at least have obama ask her so she can turn him down and then Hillary supporters will be happy that he at least asked. Hillary 2012 !!

      • Posted By: tonib @ 06/04/2008 10:12:39 AM

Hillary doesn't want the VP spot (only if it enchances her chance for 2012) she just wants the offer to save face so she can turn him down. Unfortunately, the Democratic party is pressing for it. I don't trust her, but if by some horrible chance she was the V.P., it won't make me NOT vote for Obama like some idiots who won't vote for Obama and will give their vote to BUSH III (MCCain). I'm ashamed that many people don't care about what's right and will vote for McCain just to stick it to Obama. God will put in office who he wants there and if you cut off your nose to spite your own face, you'll surely regret it later...after gas is $8.00/gallon (we thought we'd never see $4 and Bush said so - HA!), after more working families are put out on the streets due to job losses and foreclosure, after many more American soldiers die for a war that never should have started (it's already been 5 years- WOW - we forget probably because we're not the direct families of the soldiers and we have the luxury of pretending it's not as bad as it is or only looking at the financial aspect of wasting Billions of Dollars a month on a war we can't win without the Iraqi people changing). I don't have that luxury. I don't have a loved one in Iraq, but I do have a son who graduates next year and will be eligible for the draft, I have a son who wants to go to college and wonders what his future will be in what we used to think was the land of plenty, I have two younger boys who at 4 and 7 actually have had discussions in school about the election due to their friends moving away (job loss for their parents), or moving (due to foreclosure). I can't afford my own personal silly feelings about who said what in their campaign as if I know them personally and offended me. We do stupid things due to offenses. PEOPLE ARE AFRAID OF CHANGE and will hold onto the same old even though it's already bad (think of an abused wife, of course it's bad, but due to fear of change stays in it). AMERICA needs a way out. Our country is going down the toilet as we speak and we actually care about Hillary's whining?!?!? Get a life people. I work a regular job everyday, we take care of our kids, do our best being small self-employed and plan for our kids future, so I can't feel too sorry for someone who has enough to loan her campaign millions and can go anywhere at any time while we have to scrimp and save for enough to take a 4 day vacation to Disneyland just to get a break while our mortgage goes from $1100 to $1700 due to an adjustable rate & credit damaged due to job loss. PEOPLE WAKE UP! You'll drown in your own hatred if you don't make an intelligent choice.

    • Posted By: tonib @ 06/04/2008 9:58:30 AM

Thank you. You're the first person I've seen who has the same idea. I think Obama should choose Sen. Edwards too!

Its my opinion that the first woman trying to become president of the United States, should have presented a little more ease for women. Namely adjusting woman's maternity leave before and after delivery, if other countries can do better then the United States can, think about this ladies.

I saw the 2 best the Democrat Party could give us. It awakened us to the dangers of McCain and his promise to appoint 3 ultra conservative Supreme Court Justices. To continue to borrow money to add to our deficit to pay for this unjust war. I wanted Hillary but I also want a future for my children. I want healthcare I can afford and not be denied because of a pre condition. I want to see the US respected once again in the world with a leader who can reach out to the world. I hope Hillary is going to be a leader in the campaign to see Obama sit as President. She is a respected figure in the party and She will be even more with her commitment.

I am an Independent and I have read carefully about all that has happened and what each candidate is about. I will vote for Obama with no regrets.

The only reason Hillary has stayed in the race is to bring down Obama. Her only two chances to become pres. Is first to become VP and knock off Obama in the first couple of years. A very likely possible. Second way is to bring down Obama in hope that McCain will win the election so that she will have a chance to run in 4 years. If that doesn't happen she will never run again. If Obama wins he will of coarse run again in 4 years so that put Hillary out 8 years for a possiblity of running. Most likely the VP would be the DNC candiate at the next election in 8 years so that mean Hillary wouldn't be able to run for at least 12 years. In 12 years she will to old and will possible have lost her power and support. Her only hope is to bring down Obama in this election so she can make a run in 4 years. Lets hope Obama wins the election.

Mr Fineman, it seems many of your colleagues at MSNBC (Andrea Mitchell, Tim Rissert and Tom Brokaw not to mention Pat Buchanan) all disagree with you. The problem Obama now has is that the Clintons have already announced she is interested in VP. If he picks someone else, it looks like a slap in the face. Then what will her supporters do? I can't believe a Republican can actually win this thing!

    • Posted By: Mrs. Jones @ 06/04/2008 10:07:39 AM

mara--her campaign denies that she was suggesting an interest in the VP slot...

  • Posted By: fonsoc @ 06/04/2008 10:07:05 AM

I find the video next to this discussion to be typical of the media bias shown in the Democratic race when Obama was their boy all the way and it was overtly obvious. The entire video was all about Hillary's group of supporters and their dissapointment over her loss. The bias came out blazing at the end when the loser of a woman was used to knock McCain and promote Obama. Everyone who knows anything about ideas knows that the last idea sowed in anyone's head is the one that sticks. What a bunch of hogwash!

  • Posted By: hillaryforpresident!!! @ 06/04/2008 10:06:51 AM

Wow, Obama supporters still bashing Hillary. Have you ever heard of class? Obama and supporters have made it clear that they don't need or want a stupid-old-white-b*tch on their ticket, so I say let them go down on their own. Besides, Hillary is over-qualified for the VP slot.

Congratulations is in order to Obama's campaign headquarters. You guys have done an excellent job. Keep up the good work. For the rest of you out there, you have a choice, vote your choice at the polls not on the internet. Speaking as a retired female E-7 and schoolteacher, Obama has my support and will have my vote.

It is a sad day in America, the DNC and it???s bylaws committee have destroyed an historical moment. Obama being the first African American candidate will go down in history as being yet another stolen moment. If Obama were to succeed in being President , he like Bush will be seen as legitimate President. Bush was put in twice under false pretense and Obama was not elected to the nominee by American Standards ??? We the People??? he was forced upon America by the DNC and it???s soc bylaws Committee , another way of saying our Choice Committee . I as well as millions will remember in November America has been robbed for three election, I can not understand why Senator Clinton would want to continue in such a fraudulent party , but she will lose the support of millions as well if she would request her supporters to back a cherry picked candidate.
Hillary IT IS TIME TO DUMP THE Demo CROOKTIC Party.

  • Posted By: lkbaker @ 06/04/2008 10:04:49 AM

We keep getting conflicting reports; does she want the VP or not. Regardless of what she wants, Barack Obama IS the Dem nominee. It is his decision and his alone. He is a strong, intelligent person and he deserves a lot more respect than he is receiving from the Clinton's. He has been more than respectful to her. She has no business trying to politically blackmail him to do her bidding. He IS the nominee. What about all the 18 million folks who support Obama. We matter too. If the Clinton's love this country, they need to go away with grace and dignity. ENOUGH!!
