It's not that Hillary needs Barack or visa versa it's more important that the democratic party unite to win in November! They are both qualified to be president and they both share the same agendas. He wins the delegate count ' she wins the popular vote. America needs these two on the same ticket because we need to recapture the white house and begin rebuilding our country. After years of economic hardship and a war that will outlast the energizer bunny it is time for change that we all can believe in. I hope that we as americans get behind Obama and Clinton and push for a win in November ! We so desperately need a change for the good of this country and it can't happen soon enough!!!

Are you out of your mind, Republicans will hold their noses and vote for McCain - a Democrat in the White house is like 9/11 to them. But this goes to show why Democrats are their own worse enemy. McCain has flip flopped all over the place on very important issues (of course the media calls it it mis-speak) of historical importance - taxes, torture, the war in Iraq, all the major issues of the day but you will not vote because of what was done in MI?? I live in FL and understand that some in my state got a "god complex" and moved their primary without regard to the needs of the Party and got punished for it - if you are angry at anyone be angry at the stupid leaders in MI and FL who got stupid and were punished of it. Belief me Hillary and Co would NOT be talking about MI and FL votes if Obama stood to benefit. If this nonsense is enough for you to stay home and not vote then this counfry has seen its better days - time to move to Canada.

    • Posted By: democrat for life @ 06/04/2008 1:58:56 AM

Amen!! Hillary only carted when it could help her.

I actually had sympathy for Florida because it was a Republican legislature that moved the primary, but in MI, they admittedly willfully disregarded the DNC's warning and moved it simply because they wanted to. I agreed with penalizing FL by 50%. I would have been happier if there had been no penalty, but since the primary that din't count had already taken place, it would have been truly unjust to allow 100% votes. But in MI, as far as I was concerned they could have kept them with no votes and I would not have been displeased. MI did it to themselves, not Obama, not the DNC.

HRC wants to be President....not the VP. So, this brings up the following scenario: If she is on the ticket, and they win in 2008, then Obama will naturally want a second run at the Presidency in 2012. What is she to do at that point? Is she willing to wait until 2016 for another shot at the Presidency?

I think she would rather wait it out on the sidelines, comfy in her Senate job. When it comes time for the next election, she can jump in and say that she feels compelled to run again. She will complain that Obama has not met all his promises, and that if America had voted for her the first time we would all be better off.

I don't believe for a minute that she actually wants the VP nomination. She is playing to the crowd, trying to be a "team player." After all, why should she help Obama stay in office for a second term when she can be making another run for the office?

hillary Clinton is a great leader and should have been the DNC candidate . Obama sucks he is all hot air . I will never vote for him .

    • Posted By: democrat for life @ 06/04/2008 1:48:07 AM

You have a right to vote for whomever you wish. That's a great thing about being an American. Just remember when you have to take out a loan to buy a tank of gasoline and all of your loved ones have been killed in Iraq, you have only to look in the mirror to see who's to blame.

Hillary Clinton is the LAST thing this country needs! Obama doesn't need the Clinton baggage and drama - he can do fine on his own. He also doesn't need to be associated with someone who is solely focused on attaining her own power. Hillary is NOT in the Democrat business -she's in the Clinton business, the rest of America (and the American people) be damned. 'Nuff said on that shrew.

    • Posted By: keelyjazz @ 06/04/2008 12:47:23 AM

Do you know Hillary personally or are you just repeating what other people are saying about her? You have no clue what you are talking about. If you had any smarts you would know that she has devoted a large portion of her life to this country and this world...she has done a lot of good and when you go to sleep at night repeat what you said about America being damned and pray to god for foregiveness.....and learn how to use the word "shrew" properly in a sentence!

      • Posted By: delius1967 @ 06/04/2008 1:44:01 AM

Sounds more like you're the one who is just repeating other people.

I keep seeing this question get asked, and never answered: What, exactly and in detail, has HRC done? Give some examples of the "good" she has brought the country. The only major policy direction she has ever been in charge of -- her national health care plan -- was an unmitigated disaster. As a senator, she has done nothing of great import, certainly much less than many other senators.

So please, tell us, what has she done? What makes her so qualified to be president? Why won't anyone answer this question?

The only way Obama could win in November is if he's up against the dishonorable Rev. Wright or Louis

  • Posted By: pat52007 @ 06/04/2008 1:36:24 AM

Yeah I agree with some here who say HRC is carrying alot of baggge...yep the baggage is on her wide ***!!
My God does she ever get any exercise...LOL...Anyhoo, what I really want to say is that Barrack Obama is destined to become President of this great country and he will I believe bring back the luster to our faded integrity around the world!! The Bush legacy has brought us nothing but one quagmire after another and this ladies and gentlemen is due to his connections with lobbyists, especially Oil concerns. This country has to get off its collective ass and realize that we can and should wean ourselves away from fossil fuels and make a commitment to Solar Technology once and for all....We have become slaves to OPEC!! Wake-up and vote for Barrack Obama!!

    Three speeches were given tonight.

McCain said "I am not the same as Bush." He also said "I will make you safe, and you should be very, very afraid of the changes Obama is talking about, because Obama will make you unsafe." He SAYS he is different than Bush, and then pulls out the same worn and faded fear card, think we are stupid enough to fall for it again. He also set himself up as a "friend" of Hillary Clinton, in a way that was obviously pandering for the votes of her supporters.

Clinton talked about herself non-stop for her entire speech, sending up her victory in South Dakota, repeating her spurious claim of being ahead in the popular vote, and refusing to concede the race. She gave the kind of speech she would have given had she won the nomination, talking about what she plans to do for the country once she takes office. She barely mentioned Obama, completely avoided the fact that he had won the nomination, and tried to stir up the ire and anger of her supporters.

Obama took the stage and praised Clinton as an able politician and a tough fighter, who has devoted her life to helping the American people. He even thanked Hillary for making him a better candidate. And he made it clear that she would have a place in his cabinet working on health care. Beyond that, he gave a stirring speech about how great America is, and how we are going to solve our current problems and become the best nation we can be, returning to our status as leaders of the free world. He spoke of his admiration for Senator McCain, even as he disagreed with McCain's policies. He spoke warmly of his opponents, and never once talked about himself.

McCain tells you "You should be very afraid!"

Hillary says "It's all about me, me, me!"

Obama says "We all have something good to offer. Let's work together to change our nation for the better."

BARACK OBAMA: the NEXT GREAT PRESIDENT of the UNITED STATES of AMERICA

This is what it's all about people. We need positive leadership in the White House now more than ever - history has shown that we excel under positive leadership. Nothing demonstrates more clearly than this where that positive leadership is most likely to come from.

inthetoilet: Obama will beat McCain no matter what. Why? One: he is not Republican. Sounds simplistic, but listen. Republicans are not popular. Look at the 2006 mid-term elections; they lost the House (expected) and the Senate (unexpected). There have been what, four, special elections in the past year to fill vacancies in the House of Representatives all four in places considered 'safe' for Republicans. All four were won by Democrats. The president is extremely unpopular and McCain wishes to continue many of Bush's policys. Two: M-O-N-E-Y. You need it to win and Obama raises it better than anyone. He regularly raises twice as much as McCain per month. Three: Change. Obama represents change better than anyone. Beyond the obviouse (he's the first African-American to be a major parties nominee and the age difference) Obama will actually take this country in a new direction with new politics (no more Swift Boat garbage please). And the inexperience arguement is one of the weakest I can think of. If experience were really important then the democrats would have nominated Bill Richardson, Chris Dodd, or Joe Biden. Those three each have way more experience than either Clinton or Obama. But experience is not a barometer for success. Nixon and LBJ had a lot of experience and they are considered by many to be horrible presidents (LBJ especially on foreign policy matters and Nixon...well enough said there). On the other hand Lincoln had relatively little experience so did Kennedy and Reagan (only a couple terms as govenor as I recall) and they are considered to be great or are at least admired. Besides nothing can give you the experience needed to do the toughest job in the world, everybody gets on the job training being the president. Reason four: Idealism. As much as people talk about Obama representing style over substance the charges just don't stick. You can't argue that he hasn't energized the party and the electorate overall. And for every voter he turns off who think of him as a 'car salesman' he attracks ten more who are tired of the same old negative politics. Obama WILL win.

If it wasn't for Lyndon Johnson, Obama wouldn't even be on the ticket. He strong-armed the Civil Rights Act through Congress and lost a lot of useful favors in the process. Was his a perfect presidency? No, but then neither was Kennedy's--his sophmoric posturing over the Bay of Pigs came very close to truly setting off a nuclear crisis. And thanks to Reagan and his changing the rules so that the Social Security endowment could be tapped (not just the interest as we used to do), well, it's because of him and the Republicans that we may well be facing a change in Social Security.

Afer having insulted this man's leadership abilities and attempting to reduce him to a speech, I find it appalling that this narcissitic woman would want to be his VP. How can she stand beside him when the world knows that she doesn't respect him What bullshit. I hope he chooses Sam Nunn or the VA gov and turn the page on this monster *** an her whore of a husband.

The people want change and that means Obama. HRC is more of the same old Washington politics, which she plays extremely well. The Republicans wanted HRC to win, because they truly believed they could attack her record and win. They would love to see her as VP nominee, because they would love the opportunity to attack "the ticket" with her name on it. The only thing they can use against Obama is his relative inexperience with Washington politics....which is exactly why most people like him. He's not part of the same old system.

The_Shelton, below, put forth Kathleen Sebelius, democratic governor of Kansas, as an alternative to Hillary Clinton for the VP nominee. Reading her biography, she sounds like not only a fine choice, but probably also the presumptive choice. As a democratic governor winning landslide elections in a predominantly republican state, she has demonstrated the ability to unite rather than divide. This is exactly the type of candidate we need in higher office if we expect to institute effective, non-partisan public policy for the common good of our country. I am concerned that Obama and Sebelius both from the midwest might somehow limit the ticket's appeal, but perhaps it would actually help if west and east coasters alike felt like they were compromising equally.

More likely he will have a mysterious accident with Hillary on the ticket

    • Posted By: Snorkeldorf @ 06/03/2008 11:38:38 PM

Hillary Clinton is one of the most polarizing figures in American politics. She is the last person Obama needs on his ticket. Too many people will not vote for a ticket with her on it no matter what. Obama should choose someone more capable and with a lot less "baggage". That way the general election can be decided on the issues rather than on the (negative) personalities involved. I think Obama's most brilliant move would be to select Olympia Snowe (R-Maine) as his running mate, but more realistically, Joe Biden would be fine second choice.

If Hillary Clinton has any regard whatsoever for the welfare of the Democratic Party and the nation as a whole, she will bow out gracefully, offer her full, unqualified support for Barack Obama, and go back to the Senate where she can continue to champion the changes we so desperately need in our country. Unfortunately, I don't think she's up to it.

If Hillary runs as an Independent, she and Obama will split the Democratic and Independent votes, and McCain will get all the Republican votes, and we will end up with four more years of the machine known as George W. Bush. Right now we are in a recession. If McCain becomes President we will end up in another Great Depression, and you will only have yourself to thank.

Is that what you really want?

I know lots of Clinton supporters are feeling glum right now. But in politics, just like in life, sometimes you have to compromise on the thing you didn't want in order to avoid a greater evil. Look carefully at McCain and Obama. Ask yourself which of them would make a better President, which of them is more likely to carry out Hillary's political agenda. It's NOT a popularity contest. You may love Clinton's personality and hate Obama's, but if you agree with Clinton's politics, then you can't vote for McCain, it would be like shooting yourself in the foot.

After reading a lot of the posts from people who say that they would rather vote for McCain or not vote at all, we're doomed for four more years of failed Bush policies. People like you are throwing the Democrat vote away to vote for McCain. You are the same type of people who would rather not vote vs. giving the vote to Obama or Clinton. Haven't you had enough of Bush's policies? If you really want CHANGE, then vote for the Democratic candidate, no matter who it is or who the VP is. How can the Democrats unite if you have this attitude? Haven't this country suffered enough under Bush and it will continue under McCain. Please don't throw away your vote!

Good lord, I can hardly believe what I'm reading. One nut says the whole thing is ordained by god (so why bother voting?), several more seem to think HRC is the anti-Christ. Sorry, Obama kool-aid drinkers, but your guy is nothing more than an empty suit. Sure, he has a pleasant, of somewhat boring, demeanor, and he can certainly deliver a speech; but in the end, those attrributes have everythig to do with getting elected and absolutely nothing to do with leading the free world. One think the Obamaites and I can agree upon: he shouldn't pick HRc as his running mate. It's the reasons why on which we differ: as far as I'm concerned, he can't afford to have HRC in the shadows because her presence would only underscore his lack of substance. It would be like Dan Quayle choosing Ronald Reagan as his VP. in the end, it doesn't matter whom he chooses. The early advantage he built over HRC is history; he has no momentum heading into the general election, and he'll be thoroughly roasted by the Republican spin machine. When it's all over, Obamites will be wondering, as Green Party dimwits did after the 2000 election: what the hell were we thinking?

    • Posted By: Nins @ 06/04/2008 1:18:02 AM

You forget that the Republican spin machine already went after Obama, and he is still standing.

You also forget that it was Clinton doing the Karl Rove style attacks on Obama, not just FoxNews and the GOP.

You say Obama has no momentum right now? Um, about 60 superdelegates have come out for him in the past few days.

Even Rupert Murdoch, the OWNER of FoxNews and an arch-conservative Republican, has declared that he is voting for Obama. He states that the economy is tanking, and that McCain is "very weak on the economy," whereas Obama's economic plans are strong.

Obama will win in November. This election will be about the economy.
