The only thing we really need to decide is - Do we want 4 more years of the failed Bush policies. Personally I voted for a pencil before I would vote for Mr. McCain. Lack of experience did not hurt Mr. Clinton so I do not see how it could possibly hurt Mr. Obama.

I am so sick of pointing out I am a 47 year old white woman from Louisiana but I do it because I did not and never have supported Bill and Hillary Clinton. I am tired of being forced into a stereotype of the typical Clinton supporter. Not all women are supporters of Clinton just like not all African Americans are for Obama.

Good luck to everyone. I hope and pray the party can come together for what is best for the country.

He can't win with Hillary. The Republicans will uncover so skeletons in Bill and Hillary's closet that they won't even need to swiftboat Obama. Obama-Clinton is not the dream ticket--it's a nightmare.

kathyfnp: Marxist? Really? What about Obama and his positions on the issues is Marxist? He and Hillary share the same views on almost all the issues, including national health care. Their only difference was how they would go about it, and if anything Hillary's position was more Marxist than Obama's. Personally I don't really care, I would have voted for her if she had won the nomination, but she didn't. I also find it interesting that you harp about being labled a racist for opposing Obama (you're not racist, just misinformed) but show no restraint in labeling people sexist for opposing Clinton. A bit hypocritical don't you think? My wife, mother (who is 65, so much for an age gap) and every single female relative or friend plan on voting for Obama. A few even said during the primary season that they would rather vote for McCain than Clinton if it came down to it. It doesn't really matter though, Clinton's supporters WILL fall into line after they've had a couple months to grieve and with Clinton supporting Obama as the VP nominee or as just a senator. Women especially will NOT sit on their hands or vote for McCain in November. Why? One word: abortion. Obama is pro-choice, McCain is anti-choice, enough said on that point. Yes, I know not all women on pro-choice, I know a few myself, but they are a distinct MINORITY when it comes to Democractic and Independent voters who will give Obama the white house.

i am a woman and i don't believe in 'most' abortions.....but i do believe in a right to choose, for one's self....and i also believe that mr. obama will win in a landslide....independents for obama

i am an independent and i would have voted for clinton if she was the nominee but since obama won i will be voting for mccain and i am a 54 yr old white woman

Hillary Clinton is the LAST thing this country needs! Obama doesn't need the Clinton baggage and drama - he can do fine on his own. He also doesn't need to be associated with someone who is solely focused on attaining her own power. Hillary is NOT in the Democrat business -she's in the Clinton business, the rest of America (and the American people) be damned. 'Nuff said on that shrew.

IT AMAZES ME THE STUPIDITY OF PEOPLE SAYING THAT THEY WILL VOTE FOR MCCAIN SINCE HILLARY LOST. THEY EVIDENTLY DON'T CARE THAT IF THEY VOTE FOR MCCAIN, THEY WILL HAVE 4 MORE YEARS OF "ANOTHER BUSH" IN THE WHITE HOUSE, AND THIS NATION WILL CONTINUE IT'S DOWNHILL SLIDE FURTHER INTO THE TOILET!!! I DARE SAY, THIS NATIONS PROBLEMS ARE MORE IMPORTANT THEN A REPUBLICAN BACK IN THE WHITE HOUSE WHERE THEY WON'T BE SOLVED, BUT ADDED TO. GET A GRIP DEMOCRATS, AND USE YOUR HEADS INSTEAD OF WORSHIPPING AT THE FEET OF A WOMAN WHO HAS NOTHING BETTER TO DO THEN PLAY GAMES WITH THE PARTY ON WHAT SHE IS GOING TO DO!!! SHE'S SELF CENTERED...ME, ME, ME, AND CONIVING!!!!!

If Obama picks Clinton as VP, I will be forced to vote for McCain, no matter how much it would break my heart. We don't want the possibility that if some psycho takes a potshot at Obama we would be left with Hillary.

You've caught the anti-Hillary MSNBC disease.

I am really astounded at the comments below. I would hazard a guess that all of you would not admit to being prejudiced.

The fact that America will vote for a black man, has already been proven. Get on the band wagon or you won't have any bragging rights.

Experience as is being touted below is what has gotten us into the messes we are in. All the experience we have had in the presidents prior to this has landed us in this mess. You can blame in on the milkman but he wasn't running the country. So if you think that all that great experience from Clinton, Bush and company has done so good, send me your paycheck and I will give it to someone who needs it.

If any of you had the actual guts to stand up and admit it, you are prejudiced and are trying to pawn it off as something else.

A leader doesn't have to have experience, he doesn't have to have all the answers, he just needs to be able to lead. John Paul Getty (probably a good leader) once said that he wasn't particularly smart and didn't know a whole lot, but he knew how to bring together those that did know a lot. A leader has qualities that do not come from experience or graduate study. It comes from being able to work with people and have them work with you.

Now I don't know how much you know of the Clintons, but from what I have read, they are about as nice to be around as a rattlesnake. If you are foolish enough to buy into all of the goody goody patter and "I'll do anything for you" dialogue, then you really haven't been around the politician very long.

If you are dead set upon a woman for the VP, then why don't you press for one who is really qualified. Kathleen Sebilius, the governor of Kansas, is a great candidate. She is smart, articulate and most importantly, she is not connected to Bill Clinton in any way. She does have experience at running something and would be very good for this country.

If you must press for a cause, press for her. Then she will be primed to take the presidency when Obama is finished with his terms and you can have the next historic moment in history, the first woman president of the United States.

    God Bless America.

I understand the rationale of people (not just HRC supporters) thinking Obama and Hillary would be a good ticket, but I'm not sure I agree.

The assumption is that the 2 groups can be totaled together: Barack supporters + Hillary supporters = an aggregate of Democratic voters.

But often times 2 "families" don't blend. You may have a mom with a couple of kids who love her and a dad with a couple of kids that love him. But if they marry, are you likely to get one big, happy Brady Bunch? Just because the man and woman marry, do the kids automatically love the new parent and his/her kids and want to be one, big happy & cohesive family?

I don't know the answer to that, but I'm not sure I would bet on the Brady Bunch as the likely outcome.

Is Clinton really needed for Obama to win? I used to think so and I would still welcome Obama putting her on the ticket, but I kind of think that Republicans would start running adds about how she was really the one in charge, just like a lot of my democratic friends (I'm an independent) say that Cheney really runs the white house now. What about that govenor in Kansas, she seems like a good choice? And if not Clinton, must he pick a woman? I've heard so much about what Obama MUST do. He MUST pick someone from the south, he MUST pick someone with executive experience, he MUST pick a woman, he MUST pick someone with foreign policy experience, etc. etc. etc. Is there anyone out there that fits all of those things?

Obama made a good case (we thought it was closer to a job offer) for Hillary Clinton to be Chief of Health and Human Services. This would be great. She could actually accomplish a lot in that position. As VP she couldn't really accomplish much except to be 2nd in line if something should happen....... We would LOVE to see an OBAMA/EDWARDS ticket. Or maybe Edwards as Attorney General. He could accomplish much too. The closeness of this race proves that many Democrats think highly of Hillary Clinton and would like to see her in a position from which she could accomplish the goals to which she is strongly committed. OBAMA/EDWARDS '08'"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Posted By: dukie46 @ 06/03/2008 11:29:05 PM

There are tons of Obama supporters who would be extremely disappointed in him if he were to choose Hillary as a VP. I, personally, know of several people who will not vote for him if he chooses her. Independents who would vote for Obama will go to McCain if Hillary were on the ticket.

HRC wants the offer to turn down? Maybe Obama should offer her a corsage too. Trust her, he can't.
As for others, of course, she doesn't want any female competition... she wants to run again in 4 years, -and- 8... particularly if Obama is elected and makes any mistake she can exploit. HRC has a faux mantle of supposed collected vote 'power' that will evaporate from her specifically, as the election moves past her. As previously reported... "Kennedy, a key early supporter said Obama should pick someone who "is in tune with his appeal for the nobler aspirations of the American people." "If we had real leadership - as we do with Barack Obama - in the number two spot as well, it'd be enormously helpful," he added."

I think this whole article is just silly. This is speculative balderdash. If anthing in this becomes fact, I will be very surprised. This is how Mr. Fineman plays the journalist game.

Kathyfnp - Marxist beliefs are that all things in a society allowed to develop properly would move from capitalism, to socialism and ultimately to a classless society. This was to be accomplished by the "great good" of a capitalist society, where business is the great driving force of the society. Where specifically in his record or in his proposals on his website does he reflect these beliefs. Indeed, I would say that the republican party under George Bush, and all it's great service for the great economic machine of big business, more reflects Marxists attitudes. You say that Sen. Obama is less experienced than Senator Clinton. Sen Clinton politically went directly from the role of 1st lady in Arkansas, to 1st lady of the US to U.S. Senator from NY. Sen Obama went from the Illinois State Legislature to U.S. Senator from Illinois. While McCain's record is longer by far, he has not shown any economic acumen whatsoever. He has often either misspoken or been mistaken on foreign policy issues. He is deeply ingrained in a Federal Government that has long since ceased to serve the people, but serves the big corporations and the military industrial complex instead. He hates unions. He has no interest in speaking directly to the reality that is a shrinking wage base for the vast majority of Americans. Congratulations on your $200K income. I'm sure your many degrees made that possible. But your reality is so outside the realm of reality for a vast number of Americans that it is laughable. Wages have eroded in this country and it is directly attributable to our failure to protect our borders and Corporate America's influence in Washington. For America to work, it must work for all Americans.

I think this speculation is ungrounded. I don't believe anything in this column. If any of Mr. Fineman's speculation manifests in fact, I will be very surprised. I think that to speculte on Mr. Fineman's speculation, is just silly.

again the clintons are playing hardball, do not underestimate mr. obabma. i don't beleive he will let the clintons hi-jack his campaign. i do congratulate mrs. clinton on the race she ran, i know she will continue to influence american policies. i am a blue collar, white and freely admit middle aged white woman...mr. obama will always have my vote, he understands the stuggles we, as middle class and below, go through. i hope he does not put mrs. clinton on the ticket, only because of mr. clinton. she is talented and would and will push through bills that will help all of us, but not as vice president. that is my feeling on it, but have faith in the judgement of mr. obama...

This is the worst kind of journalism: Sources speculating on what someone else may or may not be thinking of doing in the future. Why waste so much ink (or pixels) on this kind of empty journalism - except to influence public opinion and get the person you want out of the picture (Hillary) out of the picture? You keep doing it and the public keeps falling for it.

Obama needs Hillary in he general election. He can't beat McCain with half the Democratic party behind him even if he has 100% of the media behind him.

HRC is just another candidate like any other in the past. Why should she be treated so "tenderly" when her whole campaign was centered on ruthless aggression. Would she have aske Obama to be VP if the tables were turned? No, because the reality of American racism continues to reveal itself from this Presidential saga. Maybe Obama should have HRC as VP and make her get up at 3 o'clock in the morning and answer all the phone calls.
