Congratulations to Senator Obama on a well deserved victory! In football terms he just won the Conference Championship and now has to prepare for the Superbowl! I would also offer congratulations to Senator Clinton for a hard fought contest, she was truly a formidable candidate and helped Obama to prepare for the Republican spin machine and the onslaught of what is to follow. His victory signifies this nations huge demand for change and for an end to the ill advised war in Iraq! It's time to start the process of mending our country, rebuilding our own infrastructure, creating jobs, healing our economy, and getting back to the principles on which this nation was founded!

Your words are as empty now as they were vicious a week ago. Try a name change - your pandering isn't gonna cut it.

Hey...I wasn't on here a week ago? Perhaps your brain is as empty now as it was a week ago? Has the name change thing worked for you?

Yes, David, I am a white middle aged female physician and CEO, as well as a Republican (maybe a former Republican, we'll see). I have made many comments about Clinton in the past few months that were highly critical of her. However, I don't think any of my comments were hate-filled (as you stated), nor do I think they were especially puerile. You are right that some of them undoubtedly were uncharitable. For those, I would be happy to apologize. I got mighty ticked off at some of the things Hillary did, particularly when she used Karl Rove's tactics, because Rove and his gang are one of the reasons I felt driven out of the GOP. I really do believe in playing fair and having good manners, and I also believe that this loss of dignity in our political discourse has become a huge smokescreen that allows important national decisions to be ignored, and this upsets me. At times I lost my temper and if anything I wrote offended you, I'm sorry.

Now, I have something to say to you. Your user name "DavidGergen" is new. I just started seeing it in the last 24 hours, since Obama got the nomination. But by your own admission you have been reading my posts for the past several months, and I know you have been, because I haven't mentioned that I am middle aged for at least 10 weeks, and you refer to the fact that I am. So, what was you user name before? I have to ask you to explain this little anomaly, because it seems to me that you are a more intelligent but still quite transparent version of an Operation Chaos blogger. You are working hard at trying to stir up resentment between the pro-Hillary and the pro-Obama supporters, but I'm not buying it. Sure, I got good and mad at Hillary, and maybe even some small part of me would have hesitations if Obama appoints her VP, but another much bigger part of me would say "Nice move! Great ticket."

Whether or not Clinton is the VP, I am going to be positive about all Democrats stopping fighting with each other and coming out in support of Obama. If you really believe in Clinton's political agenda, how could you possibly vote for McCain? It doesn't make sense.

  • Posted By: Nins @ 06/04/2008 8:49:04 PM

A vote for McCain is NOT a vote for Hillary. A vote for McCain is a vote for Geo. W Bush.

There are many McCain supporters on this blog posing as Clintonites, urging you to vote for McCain. They are trying to manipulate your mind.

Clintonites everywhere have to ask themselves some hard questions. I know that Obama has been your rival in the Democratic primary, but it pays to know who your real allies are. If you voted for Clinton because you believe in her policies, you would NEVER vote for McCain, whose political stand is OPPOSITE to Clinton's. Even if your don't like Obama or you are ticked off at the fact that Hillary didn't get the nomination, remember, it is not about who you like as much as it is about WHAT they will do in office. Obama's plans and politics are almost identical to Hillary's. Voting for McCain because you are upset that Clinton lost is like shooting yourself in the foot. Do your REALLY want four more years of a failed economy? Do you REALLY want the recession to become another Great Depression?

I am a Republican who decided to vote for Obama, partly because I think he is a great candidate, but even more so because I am very concerned about the economy. Early in the race when it wasn't certain who was going to win the Dem nomination, I used to say that if Obama lost I would vote for McCain. My reason for that was that I'm a Republican, but also because I hated the Bill Clinton drama years, and I just couldn't warm up to Hilary's personality. But two months ago I realized that if Clinton gets the nomination, I would have to vote for her, even though I really don't like her, because voting for McCain would be so dangerous for our economy, which is on the brink of ruin.

I really respected Huckabee's morals and loved his personality, but when I thought it through, I couldn't see him as President, he just wasn't strong enough to tackle the problems facing us today. McCain is in the same boat. You may not like Obama, but you have to admit he ran a great campaign and has some serious chops as a politician. He can get the job done. Hillary could have too.

We should recognise that Abama is some paces ahead and Hillary is settling the account with full energy and wisdom.Circumstances may change any time if God willing.

But one thing would like to clear herein that American nation have made some mistak at this stage.

I hqave heared number her speeches and felt her ambitiouis. She has peacefull minde .She has precticable programm regarding burning situation of Palestine, iraq and Afghanistan.

She was in favour of withdrawl American forces from Iraq and Afghanistan .She is unique leader believing negotiations not in bloodletting.

Time is not over , American people should change their view and voted her to nomination and aftermath to power. It is best for the united states, it would be best for other nations burning in war on the name of terrorism and insurgency.

Why is Hussein Obama the first black candidate from a major political party and not the first black/white candidate? He is supposedly as much white as black. Seems racist to call himself black when he is only half-black. Is he ashamed of being half-white? Probably because of his skin color. He should be called the first bi-racial candidate. At any rate he is to be congratulated for pulling the wool over the eyes of so many dumb Americans.

Well, I will give you credit for picking the right name for this blog. Now, let me help you out with your little question. If you search on the term South Africa, you'll find a reference to something called Aparthied. Under that reference you'll find all sorts of racial categories. I am sure you'll find one that meets your needs. If you don't, then I would suggest searching on the term Nazi Germany.

Hussein Obama can't find anyone who wants to be his running mate. Why should Hillary Clinton come in to save his ass ?

Hillary Clinton got screwed and tattoed ten ways to Sunday by the corrupt media and the Dictators National Congress , ( DNC ) , and now they have the audacity to say " oh my, Hillary ...you lost..you must concede..you must unify the party..." well you know what ? ....Hillary Clinton says " unify this ! ".

Hussein Obama is not taken seriously because he didn't " win " the primary. The DNC gave their pet 63 unearned delegates from Michigan. That could make the difference in winning or losing. His so called victory is an "empty" victory. He did not win on his own merit. The DNC actually degraded their candidate by allowing this to happen. The dumb Dems did not put their best foot forward going into the general election.

Anybody in Hillary Clinton's shoes would be pretty ticked off...and justifibly so. She won the popular vote, she earned all her delegates and she had to fight off a lot of political back stabbers and a malicious media. Just in this context....she is way stronger a politician and a leader than Hussein Obama will ever be.

The 18 million Hillary Clinton army is an albatross around the neck of the dumb Dems now. Their doom is sealed in November. The DNC have only themselves to blame. There needs to be a house cleaning in the party...like boot out Pelosi , Howard Dean and others....just disgraceful what they done.

I think you need a refresher course in math. Perhaps you should get that scheduled right after your etiquette class.

    • Posted By: guardedlyoptimistic @ 06/04/2008 4:44:35 PM

Bottom line....Obama DID win the nomination! He won it, he earned it, game over. Whether you're happy about it or not is a moot point. The task now is to work toward winning the presidency. You can bet your bottom dollar that Hillary Clinton WILL support him and do all she can to help get him elected. Hillary IS a Democrat and will remain so in spite of any ill feelings she may have. She will continue to have a long and valued career as a Democratic leader and in fact her efforts during this campaign will bolster her influence within the Democratic party. Most of the 18 million who supported her are Democrats and they will want to see Democratic policies prevail. While there may now be some wounds that need to be healed NO true Democrat is going to vote for McBush, it's the old adage "cutting off your nose to spite your face!" I have faith that even those with ruffled feathers will realize that McCain is a typical conservative Republican who will continue failed policies and help only the rich and keep our country in war after war. Give it some time, when your emotions settle and logic sets in it will be apparant there is only one logical choice for the presidency in Nov...Barack Obama!

In watching many hours of the debate of the committee last Saturday I have to say that I came out with one strong opinion.
The people that supported Obama spoke concisely, clearly and offered solutions.
The people that supported Clinton offered smoke, mirrors and told nice but insignificant storied about their grandmother but offered no real solutions.
      coincidence?

Let's see, I own stock in a multibillion dollar company and they have several choices for the new CEO and they pick the guy that started with the company (and industry) three years ago over the someone who has been in the industry her whole adult life, was one of the last CEO's assistants, and currently sits on the board of directors. I'm selling my stock.

I believe the only way Obama can beat McCain is with Hillary on the ticket. %70 of Hillary supporters have stated outright that they will vote McCain if Obama is the nominee. When it comes time to debate John McCain on issues, Obama will look like the amateur he is.

    • Posted By: Zig Zag @ 06/04/2008 7:05:12 PM

Just to be clear, that second choice is the wife of a former CEO - that CEO having been sanctioned by the board for having sex with his intern.

They usually start the serious searching in July, and finish in about August. The reason for the late VP pick isn't drama or anything wierd, it's a political thing. No candidate has any idea in June what will happen closer to the election in November. And what happens between June and November can be a lot..Like 9/11, or last years switch from the war in Iraq to this springs focus o the economy.

A lot of things could change between now and then. Bush could start a new war with Iran by November. Gas prices could be $7.00/gallon by then.

This is the biggest problem created by Hillary sort of pushing this now, is that usually it isn't decided this early so it feels a little odd. As if she's sort of pushing him to do something that might not be in democrats best interests in November. (By which I don't mean picking her specifically, but choosing too early to be able to take everything in the fall into account)

CNN also had Rep. Emanuel making excuses for Hillary. He actually had the ba--s to say....
"her saying she'd accept the VP is acknowledging his(Obama's) win." I'm sorry Hillary, I and most of the world must be really dense because your acknowledgment of his win was SO SUBTLE that I and MOST OF THE WORLD missed it! Hillary, get over it and do the right thing- Concede!

  • Posted By: loriw @ 06/04/2008 4:31:40 PM

I think I am going to hurl....
CNN is parading a bunch of nuts making excuses for Hillary's poor sportsmanship in not congratulating Obama on his nomination. Rep. Emanuel said "her (Hillary) saying that she'd accept the VP is acknowledging his (Obama's) win". You know Hillary... your acknowledgement was SO SUBTLE that the entire WORLD missed it. Our bad.

    • Posted By: loriw @ 06/04/2008 4:37:23 PM

Then a Clinton strategist blames it (Hillary's bad manners for not acknowledging Obama's win)on Hillary's supporters saying that Hillary didn't want to disappoint her supporters. So now it is Hillary's supporters that are causing her to behave badly. Like most of them aren't adult enough to understand there can be only one winner and since the winner (Obama) has won Hillary has not won. Note to Hillary, most of the rest of us learned this playing Candyland as little children.

      • Posted By: sharenews @ 06/04/2008 4:34:11 PM

Sure they are close. When Obama came into the campaign after Clinton acknowledge her candidacy he basically took everything she had laid out for a platform of policies, issues and solutions and mimic them, tweeking a few here and there. No big surprise there. That is what he has done to climb the political ladder, using people , especially shady characters (why be friends with Rezko? Ayers? for starters). Then after getting everything in order as to what "he" stands for (typical change/hope thing, this is not new) he then relyed on his speeches to woo voters. Still do not see any substance to the man. His vetting is yet to come late in the game unfortunately. The republicans are going to have a field day with him. Should make for a exciting summer to fall campaign for the presidency on both party sides.

Good Morning Obama-Nation: Like you, I am Super-Excited about what took place last night and what will surely take place in the general election as well. Senator Obama WILL BE our next president.

I did, however, want to make everyone aware of what Senator Clinton is trying to do and how we, as citizens looking out for the best interest of our country, should do. Senator Clinton asked her supporters to contact her, via her website, and tell her "what they think she should do".

Folks, this is a strategic ploy that her team is using to pressure Senator Obama into picking her as his running mate. She will suggest to Senator Obama, likely through the use of the media, that the only way that he will get her 18 Million supporters is to place her on his ticket as VP.

In an effort to counter this manipulative ploy, I am asking the 18 Million-PLUS supporters of Senator Obama to provide their own feedback to him, as well. I, like you, do not want Senator Obama to be pressured into making a decision to get a co-President, which is what Hillary Clinton will attempt to be.

Please forward this to all Obama supporters and ask them to go to www.barackobama.com and voice their opinions as well. Senator Obama should know how we feel as well and have an opportunity to counter her manipulative strategy.

    Many thanks in advance.

I will send my email today. Did you notice the difference between their speeches? While his was so gracious and complimentary to both Clintons. This woman didn't have the decency to acknowledge his win. And then on top of that fed into the BS that her supporters have been screaming about that they were not being respected. HOW DARE SHE. What exactly is there for her to think about?

I only pray that Sen. Obama is strong enough to resist any pressure to offer her the VP, because Hillary Clinton is "NOTHING NICE"

      • Posted By: Kboogie @ 06/04/2008 11:39:08 AM

I'm with you!! At one point during this contest, I actually thought they could hold the "Dream" ticket. NO MORE!! I believe that Obama has come too far in his journey to succumb to any pressures from the Clintons. I DON'T think she will even get the offer. His campaign has been strategizing, and planning possible ways to unify the party without her. This has always been a possibility that the Obama camp had foreseen. Trust me....Axelrod (and everybody else) knew HRC would not go gently into the night. Time to unveil the contingency plan......

        • Posted By: sjpersonal @ 06/04/2008 12:28:12 PM

The woman has no class! There is a video on the main page of Newsweek about a movement of Clinton women either staying home and not voting or voting for McClain in support of her. What kind of nonsense is this? So this proves that all that BS about doing whatever is right for the party and America was just another bunch of lies. It was always about the Clintons getting back into the white house by any means necessary.

I wonder what her political like will be like after the General Election, when people have a moment to reflect on her behavior. She is going to have a hard time getting anything done, as she has alienated most if not all of the powers in Washington.

I have to admit . It was brilliant how Hillary took some of the wind out of Obamas and the DNCs sail by not conceding and basically saying STAY TUNED. I know, how DARE she. LOL.

  • Posted By: Nins @ 06/04/2008 1:54:55 AM

    Three speeches were given tonight.

McCain said "I am not the same as Bush." He also said "I will make you safe, and you should be very, very afraid of the changes Obama is talking about, because Obama will make you unsafe." He SAYS he is different than Bush, and then pulls out the same worn and faded fear card, thinking we are stupid enough to fall for it again. He also set himself up as a "friend" of Hillary Clinton, in a way that was obviously pandering for the votes of her supporters.

Clinton talked about herself non-stop for her entire speech, sending up her victory in South Dakota, repeating her spurious claim of being ahead in the popular vote, and refusing to concede the race. She gave the kind of speech she would have given had she won the nomination, talking about what she plans to do for the country once she takes office. She barely mentioned Obama, completely avoided the fact that he had won the nomination, and tried to stir up the ire and anger of her supporters.

Obama took the stage and praised Clinton as an able politician and a tough fighter, who has devoted her life to helping the American people. He even thanked Hillary for making him a better candidate. And he made it clear that she would have a place in his cabinet working on health care. Beyond that, he gave a stirring speech about how great America is, and how we are going to solve our current problems and become the best nation we can be, returning to our status as leaders of the free world. He spoke of his admiration for Senator McCain, even as he disagreed with McCain's policies. He spoke warmly of his opponents, and never once talked about himself.

McCain tells you "You should be very afraid!"

Hillary says "It's all about me, me, me!"

Obama says "We all have something good to offer. Let's work together to change our nation for the better."

    • Posted By: Yeahboy1 @ 06/04/2008 3:17:43 AM

Obama is a salesman like any other canidate. He's not the second coming of Christ like so many people view/want him to be. CHANGE this, CHANGE that - CHANGE what? The man cannot answer a direct question about most of his motives with a straight answer, he squirms when his feet are put to the fire (small ex. Why did he not start wearing an American flag pin until AFTER the PA primary? It may seem insignificant, but it's the little hints that give this man away). Obama was born with a silver spoon in his mouth (he attended FRIGGIN' HARVARD LAW, he's a lawyer, who are famous for being manipulative scumbags) and was raised by his white mother and her family after his Muslim father abandoned him, but yet his wife and the media portray him as this Black hero, playing the race card much too often. Saying things like, and I quote, "Being a Black man in todays world, he could get shot pumping gas." Are you kidding me??!!! Much more importantly, he's was one of the many crusaders preaching anti-American sentiment during his tenure at Harvard, and somewhere along the line got hooked up with Rev. Wright and his hate-church. People overlook that like it's old news. Coincidentally, he abandons the church when these claims were brought to light. He's a snake.

At least with McCain there is a pedigree. The man is a war hero, that is undeniable. He is a patriot, that is also undeniable. He's had MUCH more experience with Congress and politics in general, undeniable as well. What is deniable is that he has the same motives of the Bush Administration. He is NOT Gearge Bush. George Bush ruined society's view of what a Republican is. People are so damaged by what he has done that they want the radical opposite in office. That's understandable, but Obama is not that man. Maybe in the future, but definitely not in these times.

So what has McCain's years of experience gotten you????? What has it gotten America?? Can you even answer that question? Why haven't you brought up McCain's pastors who he worked hard to get their endorsements. Obama never asked or requested endorsements from Wright.

        • Posted By: Huachuca @ 06/04/2008 9:21:36 AM

You are right yupik - Wright was his "Spiritual Advisor" when he announced his intention to run. And he WAS his "pastor" for 20 years. So you think a fellow "church" member would endorse a fellow black man?

Has anyone viewd the short video of Clinton supporters on the main page of Newsweek? The last woman, in the red sweater, said correctly that she is a Clinton supporter but if Obama wins the nomination that she will support him. She also said that people need to understand that the worst that can happen is 4 more years of Bush/McCaine. So all of Clintons supporters are not vendictive, quite a lot of them see and understand the big picture.

I never understood how does supporting the enemy of your friend (McCaine) benefit your friend (Clinton)?
