Obama's win is one of the greatest political developments since 1917. He is such a vastly superior candidate that anyone who does not vote for him must be a racist.

    • Posted By: chindognyc @ 06/05/2008 11:49:04 AM

josemarti, not everybody is a racist. Some people didn't vote for Obama because they really feel he is not ready. Others like these women organization are starting to show there true colors and are not voting for Obama because he is black and he is a man. If you are going to say you will vote for McCain, then there can only be one answer.

      • Posted By: Hawaii08 @ 06/05/2008 1:59:04 PM

Is it not possible that those voting for Clinton's experience will now choose McCain's experience over Obama's 3 little years in politics? You are the one who is trying to make it a "color" or "women's" issue. One might assume...listening to your opinion and seeing your tunnel vision, that you are a black man. But then that would mean that everyone else is as limited and pathetic as you are.... you just keep blogging. Everyone probably thinks you're the brightest illiterate here.... Gosh, imagine if you had a mask on, you might really fool us. Hah!!

        • Posted By: Luridmoon @ 06/05/2008 3:52:36 PM

ugh... Hawaii, you really need to check yourself! Why are so so angry? Were you abused as a child?
And now you are going to vote for McCain becaus of his purported experience? In response to that, let me copy and paste for you a comment somone had preeviously posted:

You have two choices for president:

The first one has one of the longest lines of political experience in history. He is exceedingly popular in congress. He was a soldier who volunteered to defend the United States in the Navy.

The second one has no real political experience outside of Illinois. He is tall and lanky with big ears. He even lost a few of his first attempts at gaining political office. He is an excellent speechwriter and orator. He is a good attorney and has a successful law practice.

So which one would you choose?

This is a trick question because both were already Presidents of the United States. The first one is the 15th President of the United States, James Buchannan. He is the President who mired us in the Civil War by declaring the action illegal but doing nothing when the south decided to seceed from the Union. He is largely considered by historians as being the worst President in American history.

He was followed by the other man who became the 16th President of the United States: Abraham Lincoln. Abraham Lincoln is credited with the end of slavery, the end of the Civil War, and unification of the nation. He became president at a dark time when our country was deeply divided over very polarizing issues. He had no experience in Washington prior to his Presidency. He is widely considered by historians as one of the best Presidents in American History.

Which one would you prefer as your President now? We have an almost identical choice before us today between Senator Obama and Senator McCain. Could you sleep well at night if you made the wrong choice?

I am a 49-year old African-American woman (actually bi-racial just like Obama), a lifelong Democrat, and I did not vote for him. I am married to a 49-year old White man, who is a life-long Republican. So, I am not prejudiced at all... except against ignorance, disloyalty, sexism, & racism.... and those of us who are smart enough to understand that you don't just jump on the first new bandwagon that comes along.. did not vote for him. But, time will tell, and we can fall back on the old saying "you made your bed, you lay in it". I will be displaying my bumpersticker "Don't blame me, I didn't vote for him"! People should REALLY, TRULY begin to pray for this country.... because if he wins in November, it'll be hell, if he doesn't, there will be hell to pay.... this is gonna get ugly, because behind the masks, this is still the good ol' US of A... and NOTHING has changed....

Hawaii08, I think you are highly ignorant. It's very unfortunate that people like you would come to a blog of this nature to showcase your short-sighted views about life and issues. I would respect someone who would willingly admit that he/she is uneducated and therefore unable to understand certian thins about life, rather than an ignorant fool playing up an empty brain.

You so hate the black aspect of you that you could not see the light. People who have been brain-washed in their lives fails to accomodate the future into their skull, and it's no wonder they have nothing meaningful that exist in them. I would have regarded you as simply a jealous being, but your exccessive ignorance is a breach to that.

I learned in my life that no matter how good you are as a person, there are fools out their who will continually seek for your head. I have always said to myself that if people could crucify Christ for no single justtification, how much less an ordinary human being.

Those who think that Sen. Barack Obama does not stand any chance of winning the general election are like satan hoping that God ceases to exist. Barack Obama have ran the best primary campaign in the history of this nation, and his presidency would be the best for centuries to come. Mark my word! You can hope against hope that he fails, but since it's not in your hands to decide his fate, you will continue to live in dreams and remain delusional. Wake up and learn to co-equaly exist with other people. Don't fall into the pit.

        • Posted By: Hawaii08 @ 06/05/2008 2:20:54 PM

What does co-equaly mean? Speak english!

        • Posted By: Hawaii08 @ 06/05/2008 2:07:17 PM

In fact I am educated enough to know how to spell "certain" and "things"... are you related to chindog? Both of you need to lay off the crack pipe. Using big words trying to sound smart, while not having enough sense to check your spelling is just really lame. Before you send your next comment, read it out loud, so you can see how stupid it sounds... and then try to stop yourself. Then again, if you could discern how stupid you sound, you wouldn't have the audacity to be blogging anywhere. I embrace all the nationalities that I am.... too bad your only nationality is "ignorant"

      • Posted By: chindognyc @ 06/05/2008 11:47:05 AM

So cal bi-racial woman, you sound like a fool.

        • Posted By: Hawaii08 @ 06/05/2008 2:19:13 PM

Do you mean so-called? It's pretty obvious which one of us sounds like a fool.

Already playing the "race" card, think maybe it's a little too soon, or not even needed. Obama is a seriously well spoken and eloquent man, too bad he has retards such as yourself supporting him. YOu might be the force that grags him down

The real reason she lost was because of a**holes like you, Olbermann, Matthews, Russert and others shoving him down the throats of the American people. In the end, we all lose......

  • Posted By: willnotvoteobama @ 06/05/2008 3:50:38 PM

some folks on here are lost they pick on people because of thier screen name but then when someone uses hussein (obama's middle name ) they take offence what gives !! is that not the pot calling the kettle black ??

sorry i disagree..... hubris is greek for pride right? she has no pride she is on a downward power trip.... no pride only greed !

"I am the heavyweight champion of the world".
Mike Tyson, February 1990, a couple of days after Buster Douglas knocked him out senseless.

"Ladies and gentlemen, the next president of the United States!."
Terry Mccauliffe introducing Hillary Clinton after Obama's victory.

    • Posted By: vakosh @ 06/05/2008 2:50:03 PM

yes, but he got knocked out fair and square; his opponent did not have lead in his gloves, like the heads of the DNC who think "we just HAVE to give this to him." At least Michelle can stop going around saying we have earned everything we have. Now they are recipients of a gift and that gift did not come free.

      • Posted By: misumazigh @ 06/05/2008 3:42:24 PM

Unfortunately, only one can win, so even if the loser was very close, the winner is still the winner, unless it was blatantly clear that the "decision" (by the judges in boxing and by the delegates in politics) was wrong. I don't think it was the case in this primary.

  • Posted By: Starbucks880 @ 06/05/2008 3:39:16 PM

What a very well-written, balanced article! I agree completely with everything said.

  • Posted By: rainbow68 @ 06/05/2008 3:17:21 PM

HIllary lost because she was so unlikeable. Democrats would've voted for her because she shares their political views. However, Obama came on the scene and is so likeable, so vivacious, and the political differences so minimal that everyone flocked to him.

    • Posted By: bella12 @ 06/05/2008 3:28:26 PM

You know Rainbow, You are exactly correct. I voted for hillary in the Florida Primary and supported her all the way. I support Senator Obama now. I think a lot of the dislike was manufactured by the Republicans over .the last several years but it was her task to fight it when it began. She didn't and it grew. I know she's going to be there for Barack and i believe we can win. In florida only hillary can get the support he needs., but this time around there will be more states that were Red turning Blue. The change in those states will be the result of a tough campaign where Barack became well known and respected and the turnout that resulted from his gaining that respect.

Comment: It???s indeed a brilliant and candid report. I highly recommend that both Obama and Hillary read this article of yours.

"I am the heavyweight champion of the world!"
Mike Tyson, Feb. 1990, 2 or 3 days after being knocked out by Buster Douglas.

"Ladies and gentlemen, THE NEXT PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES!!!"
Terry Mccauliffe, introducing HRC after Obama won the nomination.

    • Posted By: News and Notes @ 06/05/2008 3:07:57 PM

      what is your point ?

      • Posted By: misumazigh @ 06/05/2008 3:17:05 PM

Self-evident, isn't it? hillary's sense of being the rightful nominee was (is?) just as strong as Mike tyson's that he was "The" heavyweight champion of the world. Both were in denial for a long time after their losses, and few people sympathized with them.

  • Posted By: miltongalfas @ 06/05/2008 1:53:18 PM

The media picked the Dem candidate again and Obama will lose. Clinton won the popular vote by over 300k when you count Michigan. Obama says what Bush said about Florida; don't count them.

In the last 6 weeks of Gallup polls Obama trails McCain by about 5% while CLinton led McCain by 10%+. Obama is unelectable. He can get only 220 electoral vote where Clinton gets 330. Obama will lose this year and Clinton will sweep in 2012.

It's a shame that Dean's hatred of Bill Clinton got in the way of helping this country.

    • Posted By: Iakavous @ 06/05/2008 2:07:31 PM

No need to do the math ....HOW ABOUT FOLLOWING THE RULES THAT EVERYONE AGREED TO.....INCLUDING CLINTON, ICKIES, McCOLLUGH, AND ALL THE REST OF THE LEADERSHIP.....INCLUDING FL REP WASSERMAN-SCHUTLZ AND MI CARL LEVIN

I believe this is the best abreviated synopsis of the primary election that I've read. Hilary began the race as a terrific canidate and was well on her way. I think the big problem was that she and everyone else in America witnessed the unbelievable success of the Bush administration bamboozlement, which preyed on ingorance and intolerance and flat-out lied to our faces. I'm sure she thought she was campaigning in "The Brave New World." I hope she learns from this and becomes the great leader that she really could be someday.

    *******************************

Let's see YOU do the math - of the 400 million in the US only about half are adults (about 200 million) and of those, all are not registered to vote.....if you have 25% to 30% of the adult population of a nation actively involved in voting that is an exceptional statistic.....there has NEVER been this many people voting in the primaries EVER in US history.

Thanks Mr. Alter for the article. I am one of those white, older women that has been plugged as supposedly supporting Hillary. And all that I can think of now is shame, shame, shame on her. I think Chelsea should be asked if her parents taught her such bad manners. If there remains to be undercurrents of sexism, I strongly feel Hillary herself, not media, vothers, etc is responsible and she has bashed any forthcoming female political, community leader by not be gracious and such a sore loser....I tend to find women are more in tuned to the needs, feelings, and the handling of dire situations. She has lost all my respect.

For just as many people who are still supporting Hitlary, there are also plenty who believed in her in the beginning and were sorely disppointment by her behavior. Not all HRC supporters are still standing by her anymore. I am voting for Obama. He has shown nothing, but grace and dignity through out this miserable process of the past 5 months.

We should start a web site for "Former Hillary Hags" - all those who see what she's really like in her true-to-form behavior as a big LOSER. She was spiteful and vengeful toward the winner, and had to be given a reality check by her own sucker-bait supporters! The Hillary bubble has popped - and with it any hope for the ranting Hillary Hags! btw, I, too, and an older white woman who was wild about HillBill when they first ran - but was angry and disillusioned and disappointed with him at the end of his terms. I frankly think he's really off his rocker now - seriously. He may be in the early stages of Alzheimer's!!! Anyway, bye bye - you won't be missed.

Your article is very well written and balanced. Great job and I hope all Americans, no matter thier party affiliation, read this with an open mind and take note. Although there are, as I would estimate, 30% of Americans who are uneducated to the real merits and discredits to each candidate and vote based on "who makes them feel good", there is an equal segment who are objective and intelligent and will vote accordingly. If I were a candidate, I would be boasting about having the support of the latter, rather than the former. Thank you for an excellent writted piece!

Has anyone noticed that Hillary ran her campaign much like Bush ran the Iraq war? Let's see...
    1. Hillary started this campaign thinking it was an easy win. I am a Clinton. Who can stop me. Bush went to war thinking this was an easy win. I am POTUS who can stop me.
    2. Neither planned for the long term (think, "it will be over by Feb 5th" and "Mission Accomplished")
    3. When "Plan A" didn't work and there was no "Plan B" we changed the rules and the reasons. It's the popular vote, not the delegates, michigan/florida should count even thought I agreed that they wouldn't. We went to Iraq for WMD, I mean, uuumm, as liberators, uumm, al-qaeda, uumm, what was I saying?
    4. When it blows up in your face, blame everyone else. Its sexism, the media, Obama. Its congress, the media, bad intel.

With all these similarities to Bush it kind of explains why some of Clintons supporters are saying they will vote for McCain.

Though not perfect, it's a d*** good analogy. She also kept running the campaign even though it was clear to everyone else she couldn't win (add on to #3) and what about the cost???? I couldn't believe how she kept telling the story about the poor kid in Kentucky who sold his bike so she could keep her campaign going. The Hillary supporters really need to take a step back and look at the last 17 mos with a critical eye. Senator Obama has made mistakes, but he seems to correct them and come back even stronger. I look forward to seeing him and John McCain battle it out over the next couple of months.
