Hilary showed her class and commitment to the issues that she fights for by endorsing Obama. If her supporters can not follow her lead, then they were not worthy of her fight. It is time that we show what America stands for. Are we a broken family with a papa like Bush and a mama like Cheyney or we are from a family of two hard working parents who will do anything it takes to raise proper children. Go Obama/Hilary

I have faith in all Americans both republicans and democrats - no matter what it seems on the surface they will confront the issues as they see them... it is all our job as citizens to help each other to understand the things that divide us and subtract value from our lives such as war, greed, dishonor, etc... America will do the right thing... just spread the word in a non-confrontational manner... if we reach out to each other, good will prevail and we will all triumph... always..

Crawling through the wreckage ? What happened ? Eleanor Clift crashed with her car again !

Barack Hussein Obama's downfall will be the truth he won't share.

MRS. CLIFT REMEMBER ME. What happened to the insurgency you were going to launch against our future president BARAK OBAMA. ITs time to move on CLIFT. SO what she lost, big deal. IT's time to disect McCain's weaknesses, like the ECONOMy and the WAR.
WE are about to find out whether America is still RACIST. IF BARAK wins he will be the first man to be from two races to win. HE IS BOTH BALCK AND WHITE and that should work in this favor.
McCAIN can only win if he pLAyS the race card. THE REpublicans have destroyed the fabric of this country . THey HAVE TURNED THE LAND OF IMMIGRANTS AND OppORTUNITy TO THE LAND OF DEBT, RACISM AND WAR. THEy HAVE LEFT A HUGE CRATER WHICH McCAIN WANTS TO MAKE DEEpER by CONTINUING their misguided ONE HUNDRED yEAR pOLICIES. BUSH/CHENEy pOLICIES have catered to the rich and put the middle class through hell. I call it Economic Feudalism.

BILL CLINTON is such a gifted man but his one flaw, addiction to women, cost GORE AND HIS WIFE THE presidency. Bill was the best president, we the people, have ever had. ADDICTION will bring anyone down AND THE people AROUND THEM, regardless of who they are. IT is a shame because Bill Clinton has done AMAZING things around the globe and here at home over the last fifteen years.
Hillary I do not know what to say, you are a great women and AMERICA NEEDS yOU.

BARAK, congratulations, I have been commenting on your wave of change since NOVEMEBER. All my posts turned out to be dead on. yOU are a champion who beat another champion

There are many qualified women out there, one or more of whom will run for President next time around, and possibly be elected. The time has arrived for equal footing for women in the highest levels of politics, and one of them will succeed. But this was not the right one.

    • Posted By: cookiegramma @ 06/07/2008 5:26:53 PM

don't count on it. The dems see women as second class citizens and discount their votes. They refused to see the clear loss of momentum that followed the Obama campaign after rev wright, and followed all that money instead. Hey it is a problem. I wonder how many people are upset about getting our politics decided by extreme liberals who wouldn't know real life if it bit them?

where were they so far? Have you heard of the test of making egg stand on its end? (the Colombus story?)

I'm somewhat mystified by those Hillary Supporters that say that they will vote Republican because she didn't win. The objective was to field a candidate that would remove the Republican's choke hold on the presidency. Obama won, period. Hillary was Not the shoo-in that she thought she was. You can rationalize from now till election day and it will not change a thing. As Justice Scalia, a man I really think should step down, told those that still question the 2000 election "Get over it".

But if you need to vent you disappointment by casting a "spiteful" vote for McCain then by all mean do so. However, once you make that choice you should be prepared to defend the ongoing war. You should be prepared to defend the practices of businesses like Halliburton. You must defend the continued tax-breaks being given to the wealthiest individuals in this country and defend all Republican initiatives, even at the risk of causing you personal and financial ill. BUT, the most important thing that you MUST do, morally, is to seek out the widows and children and parents of the fallen soldiers and explain to them that you voted for the continuation of the war because Hillary Clinton, your favorite candidate didn't win the primaries, and YOU voted Republican, or maybe just stayed home, just to show the Democratic Party that you have a "voice" and it will be heard.

        McCain is Republican!
And the Republicans have run down this nation like never before!
        Not one Democrat for McCain!
        Unless they are totally insane!
        That would rhyme with McCain!

The Dirt on John McCain ???aka??? John McSame
John McCain quotes pre-Iraq War and during Iraq War:
"Because I know that as successful as I believe we will be, and I believe that the success will be fairly easy, we will still lose some American young men or women." [CNN, 9/24/02]
"We???re not going to get into house-to-house fighting in Baghdad. We may have to take out buildings, but we???re not going to have a bloodletting of trading American bodies for Iraqi bodies." [CNN, 9/29/02]
"But the point is that, one, we will win this conflict. We will win it easily." [MSNBC, 1/22/03]
"But I believe, Katie, that the Iraqi people will greet us as liberators." [NBC, 3/20/03]
"It???s clear that the end is very much in sight." [ABC, 4/9/03]
"There???s not a history of clashes that are violent between Sunnis and Shiahs. So I think they can probably get along." [MSNBC, 4/23/03]
"This is a mission accomplished. They know how much influence Saddam Hussein had on the Iraqi people, how much more difficult it made to get their cooperation." [This Week, ABC, 12/14/03]
"I???m confident we???re on the right course." [ABC News, 3/7/04]
"I do think that progress is being made in a lot of Iraq. Overall, I think a year from now, we will have made a fair amount of progress if we stay the course. If I thought we weren???t making progress, I???d be despondent." [The Hill, 12/8/05]
Even McWar has become less confident of our ability to WIN in Iraq over the years???but he will keep us there anyway. Can America afford John McCain, which will be like having a third Bush Term in the White House? VOTE OBAMA 08!

I'm so glad I don't have to PAY to read your crap Ms. Clift. You show a total lack of respect for somebody who has spent their life working for the good of others. I'm not surprised since you are one of the numnuts who has covered Senator Clinton with disdain for the entire campaign. You display your own self-hatred when you disrespect another woman.

If Senator Clinton gets nothing else from this country and the media, she should at least get respect. To call her an "also-ran" when she has given hope and inspiration to so many is the epitome of disrespect.

Like it or not, Senator Clinton will continue to have an influence on this nation. Even if she gets no other appointments in an Obama campaign/administration, she will be a fighter for us all in the U.S. Senate. That's not chopped liver either Ms. Clift.

Shame on you for your nasty sub-title. You and Maureen Dowd at the NYT should go have yourselves a "haters" lunch together and eat some humble pie. You're just jealous because you would never come CLOSE to having 18 million people vote for EITHER of you.

HRC - good riddance. We have enough of her - she LOST!!. That is what a race is. Hillary Rodham Crap.
She is untrustworthy and I feel sorry for people who buy her line. Democrats will vote democratic. Just because people voted for her does not mean she owns us like a subordinate little mindless army = No .
Hillary - you lost - Leave the stage. Don't wait for the hook to pull you off stage.

I can't understand why we don't pick our leaders by popular vote. One person, one vote. the one with the most votes wins! There could be no argument. But our elected officials have to make it difficult. As a democrat, I will be voting for McCain, not because I agree with his decisions on how to run this great country of our, but because I disagree with the way Obama ran his campain. We are in for a change alright... but I really think a change for the worse !

    • Posted By: ginamlaster @ 06/07/2008 1:59:01 PM

We don't do it because it puts people who live in rural areas and small communities at a real disadvantage because they don't have large populations of people from which to draw votes. States like New Jersey, which is the most highly populated state in the country, would always trump states like Wyoming. In cases like this election in which ethnicity is a factor, states with large numbers of minorities might be able to overwhelm states that have very few. So since America has had some problems with the whole race thing and the democratic party has a more diverse constituency than the RNC, this keeps things even because whites can't overwhelm the minority vote and minorities can't overwhelm the white vote. The delegate apportioning system gives states equal weight, regardless of population size or demographic makeup. It better represents the electorate as a whole. Without it, racism and sexism have a much better chance of skewing the results of an election.

Eleanor Clift, I am truly disappointed by your article. I wonder if you, and your colleagues at Newsweek, NBC, and MSNBC, ever climb out of the media bubble to actually report news instead of spin the talking point of the day. You and your fellow media talking heads parrot the same lines into perpetuity, pushing the American electorate like cattle into pens. I think more could be said about how this campaign was run by both candidates - do you really think Obama did not also need, and court, even hound, superdelegates? It is disingenuous, to say the least, for you to portray one politician as political and deny the political machinations of the other politician. As for 'also-ran': perhaps that works at the Newsweek water cooler, where Jonathan Alter's and Howard Fineman's calls for Clinton to get out might give you the idea that this is what 'everybody' thinks, but it sure doesn't work for the millions who voted for the woman. They don't think she's an 'also-ran'. They think she should have been president.

    • Posted By: denmill @ 06/07/2008 1:57:47 PM

I aggre, the news media does not report news, Nowdays, news reporters want to misinform the american people and impose their views on us. But the good news is many people have turn off their TV sets and cancel their newspapers accounts and will make their own decisions in November on an independent basis and will be willing to break party line for the sake of the US. We will not go for the media spin.

There were a hell of a lot of us who thought Gore should have been president. Where did you stand on that?
