OK. So you wake up Nov 5 to Obama as President. What are You going to do with all that inspiration he gave you? Those arguements are so lame and simple.
I for one will not be looking toward American becoming a 3rd world country.
Vote McCain for the nations sake. We aren't voting on American Idol here. This is serious business and no time to be experimenting on an empty suit with a campaign speech writer telling him what to say.

How about Joe thinking Obama can fix the economy I must have missed how this was going to be accomplished. Was it by raising our taxes? Just try that in a weak economy and you will have a problem. Remember he is the most liberal senator. Be carefull what you wish for we all might suffer

There is an even more basic flaw with Senator Obama's speech. Think about it a moment. How will we sit down generations from now and tell our children about this moment? Generations from now, we who are now adults will be dead and gone. Maybe our children will sit with their grandchildren and speak of this time. But whoever is speaking, it won't be those of us who are now adults.

Beyond that, however, while I believe the election of Senator Obama will be a disaster for the nation, I nevertheless intend to vote for him. Sort of like Pascal's wager in reverse. If I am wrong, excellent. If right, then perhaps the shock will bring the nation to its senses.

It won't matter how many people eventually learn that Obama isn't a Muslim, although according to the Muslims he is an apostate worthy of death, its enough that the version of Christianity that he selected involves incantations as toxic and vicious as can be heard from any Taliban mosque

You are right! Barack Hussein Ossama did learn well from his mentor "Jeremiah wright". They are both great performers. He needs to leave the political arena to become the new successor of his former pastor "Jeremiah Wright". Barack Hussein Ossama's speech proclaiming: "I am absolutely certain that generations from now, we will be able to look back and tell our children that this was the moment when we began to provide care for the sick ???" Who does that dude think he is. He is the American Moses? What an egomaniac chauvinistic pig!!!!!
He looks more like a preacher at the Trinity United Church than a president. We the American people need action not empty suit with flapping lips.

apparently denmill you did not understand what was being said. I agree 100% with what George Will was saying....I want you to understand the man and his articles are very wise... Have you read anything he has written beyond what has been wirtten in Newsweek? Fascinating and well learned, something that all of us can learn from....this is not a conservative or liberal issue, rather an issue that America needs to get a grip and think about our future

Geoprge Will supplied a question to Bush in advance, that he would ask at one of the presidential "debates." How can we trust the comments of such a partisan. I hope that George Will won't be selected to the panelists asking questions during the upcoming presidential debates.

hopefully McCain and Obama have the townhall style or similar style of debates, rather than the traditional scripted b.s. that has happened for so many years....I was not aware of what George Will did with Bush....second new thing I have learned in the last couple of hours...thanks for the information...

Comment: Will's prose style has become worthy of Robert Penn Warren. Whatever else he may have become, the continuing refinement of the manner of his expression proves that he has yet to become a cynic....why dont you read about Robert Penn Warren...another great author and thinker like George Will...

    Dear Mr. Will,

While I have read and enjoyed your column many times in the past, I am consitently mystified by the blind spot you and many other conservatives have in relation to alternative energy technologies. I am talking about the comment you made your editorial about it would be impossible for the USA to achieve either 80% or 60% in CO2 emissions by 2050. Why does this have to be so? First, 2050 is a long way off, and second, a technology can advance very rapidly once it reaches a certain threshold of adavancement and affordability. I suggest you check out Futureenergy. com., Wired.com and www.futurepundit.com,

And for the Obamaniacs out there who may read this post, if you're really concerned about stopping global warming, you should all switch your votes to McCain. He's more likley to produca a lower tax environment than Obama, and that means more money will be available for alt energy development and implemeantation, which means alt energy technologies could actually spread more rapidly during a McCain presidency than an Obama one.

I'm so happy that so many of you are underestimating Obama.

It's hard to see where any of the candidates are advocation "crazy green policies" unless you define even the most minimal attempts to address global warming, pollution, energy conservation, and natural resource management as both crazy and green. If the USA is crazy, the rest of the developed world is made up of raving lunatics because they're all ahead of us, the world's single greatest contributor to greenhouse gases. Of course environmental problems MUST be dealt with sooner or later. (In 1950, the world's population was about 2B. It's now 6B, and by 2050 will be double that.) But maybe you're right. The best thing to do is ignore it and leave it for our grandkids to handle after the damage has become undeniable even by the most determined utilitarian.

I'm alarmed. Polls have stated that a majority of Americans think our country is headed in the wrong direction. I believe that this response is prompted as much, if not more by the slate of candidates this election year and their platforms for the future than the current Bush administration policies. I also believe that for either candidate to achieve a 2nd term will depend upon a 180 degree turn from the crazy green policies they are now advocating.
    they are
