Comment: Hillary is the only sensible choice for VP.

John Kerry lost to Bush with 59 million votes. Bush had 62 million votes.

Hillary + Obama in the 2008 Primary: 36 million votes. John Edwards - less than 400,000.

John Kerry in the 2004 Primary: 6.78 million votes
John Edwards in the 2004 Primary: 2.78 million votes

Total Voters in the 2004 Primary: 11.59 million
Total Voters in the 2008 Primary: just under 40 million

If everyone that voted for Obama or Hillary took a friend to the polls, we'd clobber the Republicans.

Hillary on the ticket is a sure win for Democrats. It'll heal the wounds from the Primary, and we'll all stick together.

Not even Hillary Clinton, John Edwards, or Bill Richardson can help Obama - the DNC selected candidate.

    • Posted By: citron16 @ 06/09/2008 5:05:57 PM

It would not heal the wounds of the primary!! I think the only way Obama could win in November is if he asks Hillary to run with him as V.P. Hillary should turn down Obama and not run as V.P. with him!! Hillary should not play 2nd fiddle to Obama and help him!! That way the DNC and the media will understand the people elect the preident and cheating is not tolorated!! Obama's perfect running mate would be Oprah that way they could go down together!!!!!!!!!!!

      • Posted By: brian.reach @ 06/10/2008 3:32:01 PM

Real Democrats don't want another four years of Republicans destroying America.

Hillary should be the VP, and she's not putting any pressure on BO. WE ARE. I AM. I'm a voter, and I have every right to write him.

And for anyone that thinks Jim Webb would be a good choice, think again. VA voted him in because Mark Warner saved our state, and we gave the Democratic nominee the position to continue us on that path. It had very little to do with his personal history or actions. He has said some pretty nasty things about women in the past, too.

Hillary started out ahead in the polls also and look where it got her. So, don't count your chickens before they hatch. Surely, you don't think Hillary supporters are going to jump on the Obama bandwagon, maybe not all 18 mil but quiet a few will not be voting for Mr. Obama. He has no experience, he is ghetto by slapping his wife's ass and I just don't think that's appropriate for president to do in public, and the company he keeps is a big problem for him. Go McGain 08

    • Posted By: deep_eye @ 06/10/2008 4:33:53 PM

ummm - couple of points. Yes, I expect that any lead that either candidate has in the polls, will fluctuate. It means nothing to me that Obama is up now or will be down later. What will be significant is where he is when the polls close in the G.E. in November.

Could just one of you Klintonistas stop with the whiny, pouty, tantrums and threats? Just one? Obama and Clinton are very, very close idealistically, tactically, philosophically....'k? Their policies and visions for America are almost indistinguishable and could, most likely be superimposed, one on top of the other...'k? Not so, in the comparison with John McCain and Obama - in many, many aspects they are polar opposites.

Are you happy with the last 8 years - with regard to where we are and where we are going as a nation? I am not and literally all of the polls that I have seen underscore this sentiment. In fact, anywhere from 59% - 80% of Americans have had it with what we are doing, where we are going and the pitiful leadership that we have been saddled with. Do you really want 4 more years of this, just to try and make some half-a$$ed point? Really?

OK, Hillary lost but the response to that is not voting for McCain. It's like the boss who is mad at his wife, going in to work and firing everyone - this proved......what???

      • Posted By: emmarcee @ 06/10/2008 7:33:44 PM

no idiot. no. They are not the same. Obama has a paper thin resume and won his elections through court. Hillary clinton is more towards center than your liberal ideal candidate.
So now this is the equation for win. Hillary is same as Obama .. so get Clintonist votes and Mccaine = Bush so can get the independents. mmm good. You know what the curse is? the 2 party system and the antiquated caucaus system

        • Posted By: deep_eye @ 06/10/2008 9:50:07 PM

yes, imbecile, yes. They are the same, even THEY admit this. Clinton as a "centrist??" What planetary system are you from? Even she would laugh at that assessment. How did he "won his elections through court?" Was there a series of landmark supreme court decisions that I missed? Even without Michigan and Florida (which I am assuming is what you are referring to, in your fractured English), SHE STILL LOSES - get it?

Hillary doesn't pass Geography or, obviously, Chemistry, and we know that in Obama's eyes, she also flunked delegate math. Also Obama picking Hillary will be a big disappointment for all of the die hard supporters like me. The idea is that the voters come to their senses and vote McCain. He is a the best choice this election. Let him get us out of Irak in four years. And let Hillary get in in 2012 to clean up the mess.

    • Posted By: deep_eye @ 06/10/2008 9:41:50 PM

Keep deluding yourself, McCain is counting on it. He has no intention or rationale to get us out of "Irak" (wherever that is), he has made this quite obvious. By 2012, Hillary will be shilling for someone else, thank God - their dynasty died with this loss. Remember Teddy Kennedy? The parallels are startling....

I have never heard so much garbage in my life as the excuses Obama's followers are dishing out as to why Hillary shouldn't be offered the Vice President position...not a single one of the men that have been mentioned could hold thier own with her in a conversation or debate...but the fact that they are men and could be "used" to solidify a few more votes...they are on the list...I would seriously doubt if you checked thier baggage, thiers might tip the scale...why can't we quit all the crap and game playing and just agree that Obama barely made the cut ahead of Hillary and if he wants to be the next President, suck it up, ask her to be on the ticket and "get the job done" The more time that goes by with all of the names being thrown around, the better McCain is beginning to look...

    • Posted By: deep_eye @ 06/10/2008 4:49:48 PM

She lost, deal with it. She is "owed" - nothing, not the V.P. spot, the Supreme Court, Secretary of State, nothing, zip, nada, zilch. It is exactly this mindset of "entitlement," that contributed to her defeat.

I'm not sure where you were in the 90s, but no one and I mean NO ONE, has the baggage the Clintons have. Why do you think the Republicans wanted to run against her instead of Obama? Because she would be harder to beat??? HAHAHAHAHAHA

      • Posted By: jerryalb @ 06/10/2008 9:28:06 PM

I wish the Hillicrites would wake up and get a clue. Hillary was always the inevitable nominee, but somehow she lost despite all of her advantages. which included: unbeatable name recognition, a surrogate that was effectively the same as her could be very useful when campaigning in more than one place/state at a time. Before the primaries began there was an article talking about a huge treasurechest to campaign from. yet still she lost because she ran a lousy campaign up until Pennsylvania.

      • Posted By: Rev-in @ 06/10/2008 5:12:26 PM

I live in a very Republican County and many Republicans not only voted for Obama in the Primary , but donated money to him as well, just to insure that Hillary wouldn't win the Primary and risk going against McCain in the fall...and they never made any bones about saying they would not be supporting Obama in November...they think it was just funny how they duped us all...They call us Dumb Democrats...maybe we are...

Funny - I heard the exact OPPOSITE story here in PA. In fact, my brother and sister, both diehard Republicans voted for her and they would not cross the street to vomit on her. I also believe that Limbaugh was aggressively pushing people to vote for her as well??

I read your comment and you thought that Obama patting his wife on the but was ghetto and not your cup of tea. I guess you were alright with your president commenting adultery, that's ok with you. You people will look for anything to be dissatisfied with this man.

Grow up and take a long look around is this the way that you want to live. Do you want your love ones to continue to fight a war that they shouldn't. Do you want to look up a year down the road and find that you have no job because they have been sent over seas?

I believe that Obama will do a great job and I know that if Hillary would have one she would do a great job. You see the difference between me and you is that I'm a Dem and want to win in Novemember because I'm tried of the same old thing aren't you???????

  • Posted By: kleart21 @ 06/10/2008 8:10:05 PM

I think that a lot of people are losing site of what we really need and that's change. If Hillary would have won the nomation I would have voted for her in th general election. I not so stubborn that I would allow myself to go through another 4 years of Bush.

To say that Obama is ghetto becaus he slapped his wife on the butt is just silly. I rather see him showing his wife affection intead of commiting adultery.

Can we please just stop bashing this man and really try to come together and win this thing in November. Or if not lets just get ready to continue to pay high gas prices, watch our jobs leave this country and watch the people we love fight a war that we shouldn't.

How destructive to the U.S. economy would a Barack Obama presidency be?

An exclusive Newsmax analysis warns: There could be a very rough time ahead.

Beneath Obama's flowery rhetoric lies a dangerous economic plan that will wreak havoc on the American economy.

Obama plans to return to the failed policies of high taxation coupled with an expansion of government spending.

Worse, Obama says he is absolutely committed to almost doubling the capital gains rate ??? something he will easily accomplish with a Democrat Congress.

In the coming months ??? when investors realize that Obama will raise the cap gains rate ??? there could be a stampede of asset sales as investors rush to take their profits now to avoid Obama's doubling of the tax rates next year.

All of these issues and more are explored in Newsmax magazine's special report "Obamanomics ??? the Coming Tax-and-Spend Nightmare," by Wall Street Journal columnist John Fund.

This Newsmax magazine special report gives Americans the first in-depth look at the Democratic presidential candidate's likely strategies ??? and how they will affect not just the larger economy, but your personal wealth as well.

Indeed, Obama makes no bones about his plans to go on a tax rampage. Not only would he increase the capital-gains tax rate from 15 percent to as much as 28 percent, he wants to allow the 2001 and 2003 Bush tax cuts to expire in 2010, which effectively raises taxes on Americans by tens of billions of dollars.

He also wants to do away with the $102,000 FICA payroll tax cap, which means anyone making over $102,000 would pay an additional 7 percent in taxes on earned income.

And the loan dividend tax rate George Bush implemented? Under President Obama it will be DOA!

    • Posted By: RFlorida @ 06/10/2008 2:18:25 PM

According to the 2006 census bureau figures and tax scheduals people making $1.00 to $102,000.00 pay 25.2% to 43.2% tax while the average tax paid by all americans on all income is 21.2% . FICA is actually 15.2% i/2 employer and 1/2 employee all a part of wage cost. If every one payed FICA on all income the rate would be 8.7% or 4.35% employee and 4.35% employer. Other taxes state and federal would be 12.5%. If your paying more than 21.5 % tax on your total income your subsidizing somebody and if your paying less than 21.5% your on of the ones getting subsidized. The income earners under $102,000. ( about 80% of all house holds) shouldn't have to subsidize the other 20% of house holdswith greater income. The Obama tax plan works to fix this inequity.

ummmmm were in 2008 soon to be 2009 so don't quote 2006 stats just so you know bush made the change in nov 2006 to fix that problem not that bush is a good president but we have a debt because we're fighting two wars 1 that was needed and 1 that was mislead and obama can't fix that nor will he be on the military budget side when push comes to shove and beleive me we're going to need a stronger military very soon !!! because of iran and russia and china being in bed together ..............

        • Posted By: Mimi13 @ 06/10/2008 7:16:52 PM

Most likely, 2006 figures are the latest available. And what exactly did the Bush 2006 tax package fix? It gave middle class taxpayers a "break" of about $20, while people with incomes over $1 million got over $40,000. See below:

This bill extended the Bush administration's previously passed tax cuts on dividends and capital gains, and spared about 15 million middle-income Americans from the alternative minimum tax.

The Washington Post reported that "the tax agreement would cut revenue to the Treasury by $90 billion over the next five years, but other measures would raise about $21 billion -- for a net loss to the Treasury of about $69 billion."

Republican congressional leaders said the bill was essential to sustain economic growth, while Democrats and some Republicans argued the tax cuts would mainly benefit the wealthy and compound the nation's long-term deficit and debt problems. The budget deficit was expected to exceed $300 billion in 2006. Opponents said the government could not afford the loss of $69 billion in tax revenue over five years.

The Washington Post reported that "middle-income households would receive an average tax cut of $20 from the agreement, according to the joint Urban Institute-Brookings Institution Tax Policy Center, while 0.02 percent of households with incomes over $1 million would receive average tax cuts of $42,000."

Sen. Olympia Snowe (R-Maine), an opponent of the bill, said "the preponderance of these revenues will go to upper-income people, people who make a million dollars or more."

Unless you are among the uber wealthy, Obama's economic plans will benefit you and the country.

GW Bush rush to Europe desperately try to cushion the Oil prices by trying to boost US dollar up,When Oil benchmark as being payment to US dollar he hopefully thought this can cushion the price of gas at home pump to stabilize from further increase of gas price at home. But he must forgotten that his actions do leads the American goods are less competitve to export cause more Americans will be unemployments.

The trade tensions with China have led to calls in Congress for adoption of punitive measures that would punish China for what critics see as unfair trade practices which have contributed to the loss of more than 3 million U.S. manufacturing jobs since 2001.

For April, the U.S. trade deficit with Canada, America???s biggest trading partner, jumped by 18.6 percent to $7.6 billion, the highest level since January 2006.

The deficit with Mexico rose by 14.2 percent to $6.8 billion while the imbalance with the European Union increased 14 percent to $8.5 billion. The deficit with the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries rose 10.5 percent to an all-time high of $15.6 billion.

Obama Hussein isn???t eligible to be President
We already know that Jihadist Obama HUSSEIN is not QUALIFIED to be the President, we now know that he is not ELIGIBLE to be President under American law

*** Naturalized citizens are ineligible to hold the office of President. *** Though Barack Obama was sent back to Hawaii at age 10, all the other info does not matter because his mother is the one who needed to have been a U.S. Citzen for 10 years prior to his birth on August 4, 1961, with 5 of those years being after age 16. Further, Obama may have had to have remained in the country for some time to protect any citizenship he would have had, rather than living in Indonesia. Now you can see why Obama???s aides stopped his speech about how we technically have more than 50 states, because it would have led to this discovery. This is very clear cut and a blaring violation of U.S. Election law. I think the Gov. Of California would be very insterested in knowing this if Obama were elected President without being a natural-born U.S. Citizen, and it would set precedence. Stay tuned to your TV sets because I suspect some of this information will be leaking through over the next several days???

    • Posted By: Mimi13 @ 06/10/2008 7:02:57 PM

What is this nonsense? Obama's mother was a citizen at her birth in Kansas, as a 19-year-old student in Hawaii when Obama was born and at her death. What in the world makes you think she was not a citizen? Obama was born in Hawaii, which has been a state since 1959 (Obama was born in 1961). Had Obama been born abroad, he would have had to formally elect to be a U.S. citizen once he reached 21 (this is no longer the law), but since he was born on U.S. soil, there was no such requirement. His citizenship is assumed. This was the subject of a Supreme Court case in 1952, Mandoli v. Acheson.

You do remember that Obama has a U.S. passport, don't you. There was that little flap last winter when some low level employees (or trainees) peeked into his records illegally. Remember? IT was in all the papers and on all the TV stations.

You did know, didn't you, that John McCain was born in Panama Canal Zone? The Constitution is actually a little fuzzy on whether "natural born" applies to U.S. territories (probably because there weren't any territories at the time it was written). Not to worry, however, Congress passed a special bill recently to clear up any doubt that he was an American.

You don't lose your U.S. citizenship by living overseas, no matter how long you live there. If you earn taxible income, you have to file U.S. tax returns and you have to get permission to run for public office in a foreign country, but that would hardly apply to a 6-year-old. Gov. Arnold is a naturalized citizenl; Obama as mention above, is natural-born by viritue of the place of his birth (U.S. State) and the nationality of his mother. Whatever are you reading, dearie? You really need more authoritative sources.

Hillary supporters need a NEW woman to identify with. Someone with class and integrity. Gov Kathleen Sebelius can show them how a woman in power can get things done without manipulation (crying) and game playing. As a professional female, I would not be able to trust Hillary is she were my co-worker. Obama better have a good life insurance policy for his wife and kids if he chooses "The Clintons."

    • Posted By: citron16 @ 06/09/2008 1:27:08 PM

Your comment is exactly why Obama should not ask Hillary to run with him as V.P.because if anything were to happen to Obama people like you would try to blame Hillary! Now that she has quit I think the time has come to leave Hillary alone, stop making up stuff like this!! Hillary should not accaep V.P. for these reasons and because I don't want her to help him win, he should loose by himself. Also Hillary should not play second fiddle to Obama, she is too good for that!

Are you aware that McCain voted with Bush 95% of the time? Are you aware that 3 justices will be picked in this next 4 years and that McCain is against a woman's right to choose rather or not she wants to have a baby? His record is 100% against abortion. Are you aware that the only difference between Hillary and Obama's is Health Insurance and that Obama is working with Edwards' wife on his health plan (Edward's plan was very close to Hillary's)? Are you aware that McCain and Hillary are as different as day and night on policy? She was running a campaingn and trying to win....she does not think that McCain would make a better President? Now...are you truly a HRC supporter or just a right-winger who thinks that democrats are idiots?

Fact - Bill Clinton PARDONED Ayers black panther pals that were actually doing time. Hillary gave FREE legal aide to the black panthers during the civil rights era. Oh come on; talk about a lack of class and integrity. I bet you're one of those women who bash anyone who outranks you at work, too. Hillary Clinton is an amazing leader, and Obama should be really happy she's around to help him win. All these claims of manipulation and corruption are baseless; this is undercover sexism at its' worst; and you aren't doing yourself any good by spreading it.

    • Posted By: NeverSurrender @ 06/09/2008 3:53:28 PM

Not even Hillary Clinton or Kathleen Sebelius can help Barack Obama win the election in November.
Many of Hillary's supporters will never vote for the DNC and Media selected candidate - Barack Obama . This is no longer the Democratic Party we can believe in.

McCain 2008 - Experience and change we can count on.

Thank you for the republican plant blabber.
Why do all the plants use the Limbaugh "media's fault" dumb-ass perspective?

      • Posted By: xeyeldinTX @ 06/09/2008 8:25:30 PM

Never Surrender - How do you figure that DNC/Media selected Sen. Obama? At best it was a 50/50 split, which is a stretch for her. Do you not understand that one of them was going to lose? Do you think Sen. Obama's supporters would be any less upset if they were in your shoes? You will obviously do what you feel is necessary. But I cannot believe that come November all of Sen Clinton's supports will all cut their noses off to spite their faces.

Great comment !! I totally argee McCain 2008

  • Posted By: joelmaster @ 06/10/2008 5:23:02 PM

Wesley Clark should be top on the list. He has demonstrated great military and foreign relations skills. He is also very focused on the economy. He pretty much has all of that which McCain claims for experience, but better and even more to put on the table.
Plus, this is a guy the Republican party treated poorly, when he was on their side, and could swing some moderate conservatives over to the Obama.
Not to mention he was already on Hillary's team and might hold some sway to her voters.

YEP BUT COLIN POWELL WILL BE ON McCAIN TICKET SO BYE BYE OBAMA!!!

      • Posted By: Mimi13 @ 06/10/2008 6:26:11 PM

Powell is being very cagey about whom he supports. On the View, he hinted some support for Obama. I doubt that he would join another Republican administration after the way the Bushies shafted him.

      • Posted By: deep_eye @ 06/10/2008 5:40:46 PM

umm, nope, no, not, not at all. In fact, he is on record on many, many occassions saying that he does not want this position, will not accept it, wants nothing to do with it, etc.,

    Joni Alter, another FINE article.

Thought I would take up some room here to get Ninny's cut and paste off the comment box.

    Ninny, it won't help.

You go on and on about what Bush did to McCain, yet you don't mention all the things Dems had to say about the little muslim sissy at the start of this election season.
Joe Biden speaking of Hussein - This "Man" does mot have the expierence to lead this country.(8/2007)
And it's a pretty safe bet conservatives will vote for McCain before they vote for a Liberal leftist closet muslim.
    Good one Ninny-com-poop

    • Posted By: Pia1981 @ 06/09/2008 8:25:01 AM

H, why call Nins names? She's a really nice person. Much nicer than your candidate whom I used to respect until finding out he cheated on his first wife while she was ill and then divorced her for the younger woman, Cindy. He treats Cindy no better than his first wife, he calls his second wife names in public. I suppose he has no shame. No better than Wright's rants in my eyes. In fact worse.

      • Posted By: Huachuca @ 06/10/2008 6:27:15 AM

Sorry Pia - Nins has lied from the start. Every thing she states, can be counterted with dirt on your man. If you guys are so concerned with McCains infedility, why no concern for your guys homosexual lifestyle?
Look what he probably took home to his "whitey" hating wife.
Sorry, but a guy who cheats on his wife is just a little bit different than a person who wants to see America destroyed. No different right?

Wow....I was not aware that people like you still existed. Everthing that you have just said are lies...and you know it. Are you really so afraid of having a black president that you will resort to making up outragious idiotic lies in hopes of swaying votes from him to your candidate.

umm, nope, no, not, not at all. In fact, Powell is on record on many, many occassions saying that he does not want this position, will not accept it, wants nothing to do with it, etc.,

      That's funny, though...geat stuff!!!

  • Posted By: whipple @ 06/10/2008 5:27:03 PM

Wow, so many racist and narrow minded people still in this country that they can't see a good person because of their color. Very sad. Hillary has not dropped out...she merely suspended her campaign. She probably has something up her sleeve. No one is bashing Clinton...where do you get that from?

    • Posted By: deep_eye @ 06/10/2008 5:37:45 PM

This crossed my mind as well. "Suspend" implies that you can or will reactivate at some future point. If you really are out of contention for the office, then say something like, "I've terminated my run or am fully withdrawing or no longer wish to be considered for the office." Something more permanent, less slick and open to "wiggle-room."

It's sad how the Clintons have so negatively conditioned the American electorate. Every single word, phrase, comment and sentence that comes out of their mouths must be reviewed, interpreted, analyzed, evaluated and studied furiously.
Sad when two proven, accomplished pathological liars can still be part of the political landscape.

How come you don't start every post with; "I reference the N-word and blog it - but it was a quote from Chris Rock, so as not to offend the black people. I may be stupid, but I have an excuse."

      "MCCAIN IS A TRAITOR"

CNN did a piece on McCain where he admitted giving the N. Vietnamese strategic points of U.S. soldiers. In return, he received favorable treatment from his captors.

So we can add you to our mailing list of bigots? These quotes have a real context based on his life experience as a bi-racial young man growing up in a black or white world. We are shaped by many differing experiences that give visibility to many perspectives. These perspectives have given Obama a very unique view of the world that I believe is helpful for any leader of this melting pot of a country.

When you read the entire book and listen to him lead - there is an undeniable patriotism that smart and fair-minded Americans can feel and comprehend.

You can continue your attempts to further divide this nation with such ignorant framing of his own words to fuel the fear of racism - Hopefully those of us that want to bring this country together will outnumber you clowns.

      Good Luck -

44 year old white guy for Obama

It is possible to let the voting public pick the vice president. Let's remember how many votes Sen. Clinton gathered in the primary. At the presidential voting, between Sen.'s Obama and McCain, the candidate with the greatest number of votes becomes president. The candidate with the second place total of votes becomes vice president, unless that second place tally also falls behind the popular count recorded for Sen. Clinton during her primary run. If Hillary's count was greater, then she becomes vice president, and that third place finisher goes back to their job in the senate, with a 'Thank you' offered for their effort. This is close to how vp's were elected for the first several US Presidents. Today, we can all talk 'Change' and 'Across the aisle', or we can decide to actually have it. Let's see if either candidate steps up!
