A two year Senator with the most liberal voting record in the Senate is not about to be elected President, period! I think more will vote against him than for him because of his race. He talks a good game but has no real substance. He has yet to articulate a clear platform on the issues. Remove the troops from Iraq and universal health care lite, that's about it. And his wife is obnoxious, a typical uppity black so and so!

I don't think all Republicans are ignorant, but I must say that I have heard more ignorant, racist remarks come out of the mouths of those voting Republican. I don't think you all are this way, I'm just saying it definately doesn't help give you a good name when you have a-holes like this on your side.

Never say "never".........Obama's leading in all the GE Polls..........

McCain's consitiuents are jumping ship. The Evangelicals, the ultra-conservative, the Christian-right are all leaving his constituency.

You're right about 1 thing, though.....the "racist" vote will keep it close.

Go McCain beat that OSAMA OBAMA who hates america. Mr. "i had no idea that was his thoughts" he chose to not listen to them when he was sitting in the front row or when he married him! LOL. If he choses his revered that badly what else is he going to do?

    • Posted By: nomore @ 06/09/2008 6:09:44 PM

Why don't you and your hatred take a long vacation. Or is it back in time that you'd prefer? You and your kind are part of the ignorant American subculture that refuses to think or reason with the brain God gave you. Far easier to spit out your hate than to actually think for yourself!

No need to worry about a politician from the State of ILL-NOISE. HAH! What a term to coin. And TRUE!
John McCain is not OLD, he is SEASONED, and is by far the man for the job, to pull us out of this
political nightmare, and to work with the Communistic Liberal Democrats that have somehow taken
chairs in the House and Senate, but not for long. American people have seen the light, and the
process coming up, will show that. MCCAIN in 08! We need CHANGE, but not the type of change
the current Liberal Democratic Front Runner is Lieing about to us all.

    • Posted By: cfallon4 @ 06/09/2008 5:46:28 PM

I did not say that he was old, I said is from the "old boys club" meaning a bunch of people who have served together for a long time and yet have accomplished nothing. Where is our educational system in America, some people can not even read.

    • Posted By: pramono @ 06/09/2008 5:45:48 PM

      You are correct!!!

And this is why Obama should not be a President of our great country.

  • Posted By: Nomas @ 06/09/2008 5:25:27 PM

McCain has the audacity to characterize his position as "substsance?" What a deceiver. What "substance?" First he voted against tax cuts to the wealthiest Americans, and now he is for making the permanent. First he was against torture, and now he votes for bills sanctioning torture. First he was against wire tapping the phones of Americans as prohibited by FISA laws, and now he is voting for giving the telecoms who broke FISA laws immunity. McCain's "substance" is following Bush in all his criminal activity. Heaven help us if this McCain thug deceives his way into the White House. Hopefully Americans have wised up enough after Bush to give Obama a landslide victory.

RE: McCain - now suddenly in 2007 is promising that he will stack the deck in the Supreme Court with religious right judges and overturn Roe vs. Wade.

PLEASE! I guess even Dems use scare tactics huh? Neither candidate is going to touch Roe vs. Wade. Nor have influence on it! Repubs sometimes talk a big game about this wedge issue, but I guarantee you that they will not touch this "election year ONLY" wedge issue with a hundred foot pole. What did "W" do about it? Nothing!!

    • Posted By: Nins @ 06/09/2008 1:59:26 PM

Are you OUT OF YOUR MIND saying that "W" did nothing to defeat Roe vs. Wade? It has been the stated goal of the religious right to appoint conservative judges to overturn Roe vs. Wade for years. Bush is on board with this plan. Every single judge that Bush appointed to every single Federal bench that came open during his tenure was a right wing Christian conservative. The Democrats were stymied when the GOP controlled congress, and Bush got to appoint two right wing Supreme Court Justices.

First Bush appointed John Roberts to replace Sandra Day O'Connor when she stepped down. When Chief Justice Wm. Rehnquist died in 2005, Bush appointed Roberts as Chief Justice, and then filled O'Connor's empty chair with Samuel Alito.

Bush has appointed two of the nine Justices, including the Chief Justice. The current Supreme Court has been sharply divided on a number of high profile issues, including abortion rights, affirmative action, eminent domain, gay rights, the separation of church and state, sovereign immunity, and states' rights. The number of close votes in cases involving these areas suggests that a change of one or two key justices could completely shift the thinking of the Court on such issues.

Right now there are four Justices who are elderly and will soon either retire or die. The next President will get to appoint at least two new Justices. If the next President is McCain, those two will both be conservative right wing Christians. McCain has publicly PROMISED to do this, and explicitly said that his goal is to overturn Roe vs. Wade.

Most Americans, even most Republicans, value the separation of church and state. That clause is in our Constitution to protect us from exactly what is going on in America today! Allowing any religious group (especially a radical one) to control the interpretation and application of our laws in the highest court in the land is NOT democratic. Nor is it wise.

      • Posted By: Concerned Ctzn @ 06/09/2008 2:10:14 PM

You're right Nins, a vote for John is a vote for conservative values. AND THAT'S EXACTLY WHY I'M GONNA VOTE FOR HIM. You give liberals an inch and they'll try to steal a thousand miles. No thanks! Go watch "Tila Tequila" with your kids so that they can learn more about liberalism.

As for McCain, like i said earlier, it's never too late to flip back over to the WRIGHT side!

Hello...Obama is not a rockstar! Why are you promoting such a stupid label? Most rockstars I know are drug addicits, out of wed mothers and such. There is a time to be serious and now is the time. With $5/gal gas and being in a recession, let's talk about the President race for what it is...to elect the most important person in our world. Sayings like this make it seem like a high school popularity contest.

Things are changing. Republicans cannot win this election as John McCain has no news or powerful message to the people aside the old tricks and dirty politics. He can only win if and only if people decide to vote by color and not by their heads.

          • Posted By: jh35180 @ 06/09/2008 4:44:54 PM

OK. I am not voting for Obama and it is based on real (not racial issues). I don't think that Obama really will good for the economy. For instance, where is he going to get the money to pay for a college education for everybody (or as he calls it people's birthright)? Also, he has flip flopped several times on Iran since McCain accused him of being weak when dealing with rogue dictators. Not that McCain hasn't flip flopped, all politicians do. Lastly, the MSNBC backlash has soured me on Obama. Honestly, Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews sicken me almost as much as FOX sickens liberals. Even if Obama was the greatest thing since sliced bread, unfortunately the Matthews/Olbermann tag team is enough to make someone hang their head over a toilet.

Hey John, this is no secret. Hillary Democrats have known since day one that this guy has no experience, no record of accomplishment, and seems to lack the trust of the American people. It has been asked of him, Where is the beef? Where is the substance? He aggravates his own situation by dissing Small-Town America, his wife is not proud of America until only recently, his two reverends act like jackasses and one spews hatred at America, and he associates with people, one of whom was convicted in America and the other in France. So, I would say John that your experience, your record of accomplishment, and the trust you have of the American people are truthful and overwhelming.

Has anyone considered that the American public doesn't want a seasoned veteran with political ties and debts to repay to the people who have helped him get to where he is today? It is like McCain is saying that "I am from the old boys club, and you are not! Let someone with not alot of experience go in the White House and try to stop the choke hold that the lobbyists have had on many of our presidents. Bring a newer mentality to Washington. I am not saying that Obama is without flaws, but as a 28 year-old American I am tired of the same nonsense.

He is a very young man, he is SEASONED in the political arena in D.C., and he can continue to
prove to the voters that he is the MAN for the job, to lead us out of this current, dark age we have
slipped into, since the House and Senate have gone, Liberal Democratic posture.
He can lead the country forward, and into the greatness we know we can achieve.

Most whites that will vote for Obama will do so I believe because they see as the ULTIMATE APOLOGY for something they never did. If it's about TIME for a black president then why not consider an Alan Keyes? Because he's not MILITANT and SOCIALIST enough. Blacks are doing the HAPPY DANCE all over the country not even realizing and probably never will that this so-called charasmatic leader is REVIVING and maintaining the age old and TIRED policies of the 60s socialist revolutionaries in this country. As long as ILK as Obama and his SPIRITUAL mentor Jeremiah Wright are around blacks will always be SLAVES on the Democratic plantation.

I find it interesting but not surprising how a topic posted by the editor of this article is speaking of ways Mccain thinks he can beat Obama, and how many of you will always turn it into a racial issue. The sad thing about it is that many of you will hide behind computer screens and keyboards and spew your racist views, then turn around like a hypocrite and mingle with minorities.

But you go ahead and continue your racist living, God will judge you accordingly. You are vile on the inside lustingly holding on to the traditions of your lynching forefathers. To people like you, speaking of unity and equality means nothing because you think that "BLACKS" are lazy, murderers, rapist, etc...... Well if that be the case which it is not from a "WHOLE" race standpoint, then what does that make you! Every race in this country commits such evil acts and yet you 'ONLY" reference black folk! Why is that! I encourage you to take off your ignorant racist mask of hatred, and go and read up on the innovations that BLACK FOLK have contributed to this country! Hey! Ever drove thru a stop light? What about ever using a refridgerator? Ever heard of open heart surgery? There's many, many more innovations that you and your racist ignorant people like use everyday that blacks have contributed. Oh! Almost forgot! That "WHITE HOUSE" that you and buddies in this forum love so much, I encourage you to go and see who and what color was the man that designed IT! Yes! A black man. I don't expect people like you to EVER remove racism from your heart. People like you are evil and are no different from racist lynchin, murdering, raping, enslaving forefathers! By the way! You speak of Mr. Wright! I suggest that you go and hear the whole sermon, but I don't believe someone like and others won't do that because you would realize that it was nothing that the media made it out to be. But sense we are along those lines of religion! You may want to to go and search the history of many of the republicans who were seeking the nomination!

You will find Mr. Racist that some of them grew up in religious organizations that would not even allow a black person to even walk through there doors! They spent their entire child hood and most adult lives in these places, and you call Mr. Wright racist! But I suspect that will not research that either!

Question! What is the happy dance that blacks are doing, because I for one never heard of it? And are there any whites and other groups doing it as well, since more of them voted for Obama than blacks did?

    Substance, what substance?

The reason that half of the conservative Christian right hates McCain is because they think that they can not trust him. McCain started his career as part of the Christian right (there's a little-known fact). Once he landed in the soup as part of the Keating Five (which almost derailed his career) he positioned himself as a liberal and became a reformer for campaign finance in an effort to ressurect himself. For those of you who don't remember, the Keating scandal had to do with some shim sham corporations pumping money into McCain's coffers. So McCain became a reformer to shine up his tarnished image, and that was his first departure from the right.

Other, more serious betrayals of the right came later, after McCain got swift boated by Bush in 1999. The great Texas Republican political machine laid McCain to waste, and McCain was mad as hell. He started voting against the party line and against Bush. He suddenly supported abortion rights, opposed the Bush tax cuts, co-sponsored a patient's bill of rights with Kennedy and Edwards, and got on the environmental bandwagon with John Kerry. My gosh, he even tried to crack down on gun shows in legislation he put forth with then-Democrat Joe Lieberman. And in 2001, when Senator Jeffords of Vermont switched from Republican to Independent in an effort to counteract Bush's stranglehold on the Senate, McCain announced that he was considering becoming a Democrat, and went into a pow-wow with Senator Tom Daschle at his Sedona ranch. And did you know that John Kerry floated the idea of having McCain as his VP, which would have cemented his status as a newly-minted Democrat.

But instead of joining Kerry, McCain suddenly switched his affiliation and came out in support of Bush, and jettisoned his liberal image. Suddenly, it was the "old" John McCain from the 1980s back in the saddle, the neo-conservative, take no prisoners Creationist. Against abortion. For the war. The SAME man who opposed a Federal amendment banning gay marriage and openly met with gay groups now was pushing a gay marriage ban in Arizona. The SAME man who said in 1999 that he was opposed to overturning Roe vs. Wade, now suddenly in 2007 is promising the NRB (National Religious Broadcasters) that he will stack the deck in the Supreme Court with religious right judges and overturn Roe vs. Wade.

But the religious right isn't so sure about him. He's supported so many different opposing positions at so many times, that they are afraid that they are getting played in the name of McCain's political expediency.

Really, you can't blame them for distrusting him. Floridave mentions that "at least McCain is to the right of Obama." But the joke is on you. During the 1990s, McCain was to the LEFT of Obama.

    • Posted By: Genevieve01 @ 06/08/2008 1:50:29 PM

The Keating five scandal consisted of 4 Democrats and one Republican, John McCain. " Bennett, who was the special investigator during the Keating Five scandal that The Times revisited in the article, said that he fully investigated McCain back then and suggested to the Senate Ethics Committee to not pursue charges against McCain because of "no evidence against him."
      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keating_Five
You can also google this incident and find that Sen. McCain's involvement was primarily that Charles Keating was a constituent who asked Sen. McCain for help, since he was/is the Sen. of Arizona. His wife also was friends with the Keatings.
"In February 1991, the Senate Ethics Committee found McCain and Glenn to be the least blameworthy of the five senators. (McCain and Glenn attended the meetings but did nothing else to influence the regulators.) "
      http://www.slate.com/id/1004633/
Why don't you get all of your facts straight instead of slanting everything the way you deem it should be?
And no, no one could be anymore left than Sen. Obama. Did you go back and look at all of Sen. McCain's voting records like some of us have? Why don't you post which bills he supported which were far left of Sen. Obama?
If you want to spew off things then at least back them with facts.

      • Posted By: Genevieve01 @ 06/08/2008 2:36:48 PM

I am sorry... I didn't include an example of one of Sen. Obama's far left views. Sen. McCain comes nowhere close to this. Please google... Sen. Obama and pro-infanticide.

For those who don't understand the term, pro - meaning he was for it, infanticide -these are babies who survived late term (last trimester) abortions. Sen. Obama, a state senator at the time, opposed providing medical care or intervention to babies who were alive and separated from the mother after late term abortions had been performed.
        IL Senate 2001

Senate Bill 1095, Born Alive Infant Protection Act
Voted "no" in the Senate Judiciary Committee (March 28, 2001)
Argued against the bill on the IL Senate floor (March 30, 2001) (see pp. 84-90 of this PDF)
Voted "present" for the bill (March 30, 2001)

        IL Senate 2002

Senate Bill 1662, Born Alive Infant Protection Act
Voted "no" vote in the Senate Judiciary Committee (March 6, 2002)
Argued against the bill on the IL Senate floor (April 4, 2002) (see pp. 28-35 of this PDF)
Voted "no" for the bill (April 4, 2002)

        IL Senate 2003

Senate Bill 1082, Born Alive Infant Protection Act
Obama, who chaired the Health and Human Services Committee, held the bill from receiving a committee vote and stopped the senator sponsor from adding the federal act's clarification paragraph, which made the bills absolutely identical.

        • Posted By: Nins @ 06/08/2008 11:27:18 PM

For gosh sake, Genevieve, I feel bad for you. You've fallen victim to a clever little game, because The Born Alive Infant Protection Act was a sham. And here is why:

Obama voted AGAINST this bill to mandate care to "pre-viable fetuses born alive." Notice "pre-viable." Fetuses below 26 weeks of age never survive, even with the best ICU care. Fetuses older than 26 weeks already have a law that mandates they be given medical care to save their lives. The bill you're referring to was promoted by the pro-Life camp and it was really quite clever. Had it passed it would've overturned Roe v. Wade, for one minute. It would have been legally challenged by the pro-Choice groups and immediately struck down, since the Supreme Court has already ruled on that issue. Even though I am pro-Life, I could see how this bill was just a political ploy. It was designed to be used to smear the reputations of any politician who voted against it. It was not designed to protect the unborn, because the people who wrote it knew that the pre-viable fetuses in question would all die anyway.

This kind of thing is one of the reasons why Republicans like me are becoming disenfranchised from the GOP. Politics is not just some clever shell game that insiders play while we the taxpayers foot the bill for their power plays. We want our real issues heard and legislated for in effective ways.

Believe it or not, as a pro-Life Christian I think I have gotten better legislature out of Barack Obama than out of my own interest group. Obama has taken the time to listen to the religious voice and made some modest compromises with us, like voting against late term abortion and against partial birth abortion, even though he still has supported a woman's right to reproductive freedom by voting in favor of early abortions. This is a good compromise. Obama listens to the other side, and that is important to me. It's a brave new world for conservative Republicans when we look to Democrats to help us with our issues. But I'm a pragmatist.

I'm also a medical doctor and the things I have seen over the years would curl your hair (or break your heart). There is a huge amount of tragic suffering in this country inflicted upon young women in the form of rape, incest and sexual abuse. Teens who get pregnant are likely to have been abused as children. Prostitutes have a huge incidence of childhood sexual abuse. These personal tragedies are just as immoral as abortion, and our society needs to address this. We need to recognize that a large percentage of the young women seeking abortion need love, support, guidance and counseling. They do not need to be censured or legislated against.

I'm a Christian Republican and I am in favor of abortion being legal, not because I think abortion is acceptable, but because it is obvious to me that reproductive freedom is an essential civil right.

To say you are a Christian and Pro-choice is an oxymoron. Perhaps you had better examine your Faith in Christian teachings. Created with freewill and the ability to make choices, we must also accept the responsibilty of the consequences of our choices. I've heard all the rhetoric about what happens to "unwanted children" , but the simple fact remains...If you don't want a child, choose not to have sex. The choice to enter into sexual relations can have may outcomes. Legally aborting an unwanted pregnancy removes the responsibilty that came with the CHOICE to have sexual relations. Just like so many condoned activities in our society today, the message that choice without consequence is rampant.

On the other hand saying someone is a Christian and Pro-war is not an oxymoron? Aside from this, when a teen has sex and gets pregnant, yes you can say she just shouldn't have sex in the first place. But a big factor in that whole teenage thing is rebellion. Some more than others obviously. And rape victims that get pregnant? Can they just choose not to have sex? Wow, why didn't we think of that in the first place? We'll have eliminated abortion AND rape all at once! You statement smacks of someone who is unable to see a world different than there own experiences dictate. You say what happens to unwanted children is all "rhetoric", yet in the same breath people that discredit this as rhetoric always seem to be the first ones to complain about taxes/spending and big government created to support welfare programs, overcrowded prison systems, and other social programs that are designed to help the less fortunate. WHERE DO YOU PEOPLE THINK ALL THESE LESS FORTUNATE COME FROM?!? Yes, a portion may be lazy, unambitious people gaming the system. But another solid portion are single mothers who had single mothers. Teenage mothers that don't have a caring family to turn to. (And if you think that doesn't happen, you really are out of touch!) So ban abortion. I'm all for it. But stop complaining about the result and actually seek to HELP those poor innocent children once they are OUT of the womb!

ARE YOU PART OF THE BUSH JR TEAM OF 2OOO? ALL OF YOU ANTI-MCCAINs HAVE DEFINITELY MEMORISED THE MATERIALS DISSEMINATED BY BUSH MACHINATION. IN FACT, YOU GOT THEM ALL 100%, WITHOUT RESEARCHING. ALL THE HALF-TRUTHS AND HALF-LIES YOU ARE NOW DISCUSSING ARE BASED ON THE SAME MANUSCRIPT PREPARED BY THE BUSH MACHINERY AFTER THE TWO MAJOR PRIMARIES WON BY MCCAIN IN 2000; THE MICHIGAN AND THE NEW HAMPSHIRE. AFTER THAT DOCUMENT MCCAIN'S BID WAS LOST.

SINCE BUSH WON 2000 AND YOU KNEW UNTIL NOW ALL THE SCRIPTS AND LINES, INCLUDING NEO-ANNIHILISTIC STRATEGY OF DRUG ADDICT CYNDI, AN ILLEGITIMATE BLACK GIRL CHILD, AND KEATING 5.... YOU GOT THEM ALL WRONG.

DON'T YOU KNOW WHY IT'S SO HARD FOR MCCAIN TO GO TO WHITEHOUSE, BECAUSE OF THE FACT, THAT UNTIL NOW, HIS BEST FRIEND BUSH HAVE NOT RECOGNISED IN PUBLIC HIS SO-CALLED SINS. BUT AS STATEMAN AS HE IS, HERE IS HIS REAL STORY. THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN DISSEMINATED IN 2000.

Im sorry I quit paying attention after the 1st paragraph of paragraph, did you have a point to make?

        4. HE ADMITTED HIS FAILURES/MISTAKES , REPENTED, AND DID EVERYTHING NOT TO REPEAT AGAIN.

        1. On his first marriage and other failures: McCain Said "One of the reasons I've been reluctant to judge other people is that I've had so many failures of my own. I failed when I was in prison. I failed in my [first] marriage. REAL LESSON; MCCAIN HAS OVERCOME HIS OWN SHORTCOMINGS BY KEEPING HIMSELF FAITHFUL TO CINDY. THIS IS ALSO A TRIBUTE TO CAROL, NOW HIS BEST FRIEND.

        2. On KEATING FIVE SCANDAL. McCain suffered an embarassing set back in 1989 when he was investigated, along with four other senators, regarding political contribution improprieties involving Charles Keating, who ended up in jail over one of the biggest savings and loans scandals ever. McCain was the only one of the five to be absolved of any wrongdoing. BUT THE EVENT HAPPENED IN 1982 WHEN HE WAS ONLY A YOUNG CONGRESSMAN (46 YRS OLD LIKE OBAMA). THE INVESTIGATION HAPPENED IN 1989. IT WAS CYNDI'S FAULT WHY MCCAIN AND KEATING MET. McCain was furious then. He was not yet aware of the serpents and vultures living around the ultradesociedad even though he was a son of Admiral.

BUT WAS HE REALLY FOUND GUILTY OF YOUR SO-CALLED CRIME "POOR JUDGMENT"? NEVER.

IN THIS CASE , YOU WERE ALL IGNORANT. NO SUCH OFFENSE MY FRIENDS:

While the 4 other DEMOCRAT Senators were obviously guilty and should have been persecuted, according to the Senate Ethics Commitee, MCCAIN'S CASE IS A DIFFERENT STORY. BY HEART AND BY DEED HE WAS INNOCENT. Obviously it is the role of a State Senator to protect the interest of his constituent. MCCAIN HAD NO INTEREST IN THE LINCOLN SAVINS N LOAN (S&L) . But there were many Arisonan owners who whose equities were at stake. He was naive then (relatively young for a senator) and he was advocating in behalf of his People. Note that he is not a lawyer. He had no chance to memorise the Civil Laws of he Land. Senate Ethics Committee rebuked him (meaning they were angry at him why was his nanme inclluded) , for exercising "poor judgment" .

BUT THE FINAL REPORT IN 1991 AFTER THE SCANDAL HEATED IN 1989 , THE SAME COMPOSITION OF THE COMMMITTEE CONCLUDED that McCain's "actions were not improper nor attended with gross negligence and did not reach the level of requiring institutional action against him..

OBAMA COMPARED TO THE HARDSHIP OF MCCAIN WHEN HE STARTED. MCCAIN IS A GARBAGE BOY LOOKING AT THE TOP A HIGH RISE BUILDING.... OBAMA IS ALREADY A MANAGER SEATING IN A COMFORTABLE CHAIR OF FIRST CLASS SUITE IN THE SAME BUILDING MCCAIN'S LOOKIN AT.

IN FRONT OF YOUR LAWN.. OBAMA IS .. HE'S LIKE THE CHARLIE CHAPLIN OF THE US POLITICS... IF NOT MAVERICK. HE DEFIED ALL THE ODDS.
WISDOM. HE GOT THE BEST WISDOM.... LEARN FROM YOUR EXPERIENCE... AND TRY TO BE GOOD ALWAYS.

MCCAIN HAS NEVER BEEN AN ELITIST. HIS OWN STRUGGLES TAUGHT HIM TO BECOME HONEST TO HIMSELF, TO HIS COLLEAGUES AND TO COUNTRY

MCCAIN ALWAYS TREATS EVERYONE WITH FAIRNESS AND RESPECT.

MCCAIN AND BUSH LONG HAVE SETTLED THEIR DIFFERENCES.

MCCAIN IS A LITTLE SHY, JUST LIKE US.

MCCAIN IS ONE OF THE COURAGEOUS AND BRAVEST LIVING AMERICANS IN OUR TIME. BECAUSE HE CONQUERED ALL THE DEMONS HIS LIFE.

OMG did you actually write that? or did you find it scribbled on the wall in a truck stop bathroom? Do yourself a favor and do a little research befor you go off spouting how great JOHN McCain is. he does his job less the 1/2 the time, if anyone else at any job showed up 1/2 the time, wed be canned. Much like he should have been ages ago. MCCAIN IS TO OLD AND OUT OF TOUCH WITH THE PEOPLE, Looks like the 2 of you have something in common.

        WHO IS MORE HEROIC?

OBAM A STILL HAS TO WRITE HIS OWN HISTORY.

MCCAIN IS ALREADY A HERO... NOT IN VIETNAM, ???.
BUT HERE IN AMERICA?????????.. BY BY SHOWING US HOW TO BE ACCOUNTABLE, FEARLESS IN RECTIFYING ONE???S ERRORS AND START TO WALK IN THE RIGHT PATH.

        WHO IS BETTER LEADER?

OBAMA'S HAS NOT YET BEEN TRIED TO CONQUER HIS OWN DEMONS.

BY THE WAY, DO YOU KNOW ALREADY BARAK'S DEMONS? ARE WE GONNA REPEAT OUR OWN MISTAKES?

"So much has changed since John first began his crusade," Carol Shepp, McCain's first wife, told the DRUDGE RETORT on condition that her name would not be used. "When we first got married 24 years ago, I knew that licking Bush would never be a problem for John -- if and when he decided to do it," Carol Shepp said. "But let's face it," Carol Shepp continued, "a lot can happen in a few decades. People change. And things that were once easy to do become difficult with age." Still, Carol Shepp added, "Even though we may no longer be married or even in love, I will always maintain that John McCain is the best Bush-licker in the race today."

Some angry conservatives claim that McCain's triumphs in Michigan and Arizona had less to do with his success than with his opponent's failure."McCain didn't lick Bush," said an angry and bitter Ann Coulter, "Bush licked himself."

IN CONCLUSION, WE HAVE TRUE TO LIFE HERO IN OUR MIDST! NOT BY ANY MIRACULOUS DEEDS, BUT BY JUST BEING A REAL AND ORDINARY AMERICAN LIKE YOU AND ME.... WHOSE TRUE INTENTION IS TO DEDICATE HIS LIFE AS A SERVICE TO AMERICA AND ITS PEOPLE..... BECAUSE ... AMERICA SAVED HIM.

MCCAIN IS JUST LIKE US WHO LAUGHED, CRIED, GOT ANGRY, GOT UPSET, SOMETIMES JOKED TOO MUCH.

MCCAIN WHO SINNED IN HIS EARLY LIFE... BUT LEARNED HOW TO ADMIT HIS GUILTS AND MAKE THE NECESSARY CHANGE IN HIS LIFE.

MCCAIN WAS FORGIVEN BY ALL HIS FAMILIES AND FRIENDS.... THAT IS THE STORY WHY IT IS TOO DRAMATIC TO HEAR HIS FIRST SPEECH AFTER HE SECURED THE NOMINATION IN MARCH. THAT AMERICAN HAS GIVEN HIM SO MUCH AND SAVED HIM FROM TOTAL LOSS.

MCCAIN FORGAVE. ALMOST ALL POLITICIANS MOCKED HIM, DERIDED, LAMBASTED HIM, AS IF HE IS JUST A TRASH. HE ENDURED THEM. HE IS THE REAL MAVERICK.
        .
MCCAIN LEARNED FROM HIS EXPERIENCE. THIS IS THE UNWASHED HERO FROM THE VIETNAM. BUT A POW, (PRISONER BUT HERO?) WITH NOTHING TO EXPECT WHEN HE RETURNED TO AMERICA AFTER 7 YEARS OF SEPARATION. MY GOD! GIVEN WHAT HE EXPERIENCED... WHAT ELSE DOES A VIRILE MAN COULD EXPECT AFTER HIS RECOVERY..... IN HIS SITUATION I WONDER IF AMERICA'S FRESH AIR WOULD SMELL LIKE SEX TO HIM. BUT LOOK AT WHAT LIFE HAS REWARDED HIM.... AS I SAID ABOVE- - TWIN-MISFORTUNES FOR MCCAIN. THEN SHE GOT CYNDI, ENTER POLIITICS, LOOK WHAT HAPPENED.... THE FIRST PERSONE HE APPROACHED WAS SWINDLER. WHO WOULD FINANCE HIS CAREER. THE ULTRA CONSERVATIVE... GIVEN HIS FAILED MARRIAGE,,,, HE WOULD NEVER PASS AS A SAINT.

SO THERE. YOUR MATERIAL IS YOUR BELOVED BUSH SCRIPT. YOU SAY YOU HATE MCCAIN SINCE HE IS LIKE BUSH.... BUT LOOK AT THE POOR MCCAIN. IS THERE A SENATOR HERE AT THE HEIGHT OF THE SUBPRIME FISCO WHO APPROACH A BANK TO SAVE HIS PEOPLE. THAT TO ME IS LEADERSHIP IN THE HIGHEST ORDER.

???HIS LESSON: With a conviction that he would do everything to restore the honor of his father and how America saved him.... AS A CHANGE OF HEART, AND BY RECTIFYING HIS LACK OF JUDGMENT, MCCAIN CHAMPIONED THE ISSUE OF CAMPAIGN FINANCE REFORM ACT IN 2002 (WITH SUPPORT FROM DEMOCRATS). DON'T YOU KNOW THAT IN THE SENATE, YOU NEED BIPARTISAN (IN SHORT) WHO HAS THE BOLDNESS, DIE-HARD CHARACTER WHO COULD INITIATE A COMPROMISE WITH AT LEAST ONE RESOLUTION. TED KENNEDY DID THAT TOO. YOU LOOKED AT WASHINGTON POST WITHOUT KNOWING THE WISDOM BEHIND THE TERM 'NOT VOTED'. IT IS A COMPROMISE DEALINGS BETWEEN TWO PARTIES. INCLUDING NOT ATTENDING OR ABSTAINING. FOR A MAN WHO WANTED ONLY TO RESTORE HIS DIGNITY.. ABSTAINING MEANS LACK OF "BIG BALLS" TO MAKE DECISION. ALL THOSE NOT VOTED WERE MAJOR DECISIONS NEEDED TO ENSURE THAT A COMPROMISE IS AT LEAST ESTABLISHED.

YOU TALK LIKE YOU WERE CLEANER THAN MCCAIN. HMP. PLEASE BE FAIR TO THE GUY. HE WILL NEVER LEAD YOU TO IMPERIALISM. HE ONLY WANT SERVE HIS COUNTRY THAT HE LOVES.

ARE MODERN AMERICANS NOLONGER UNDERSTAND THE PLAIN ENGLISH? PLEASE BE OBJECTIVE NOT BY LOOK NOR BY HEARSAY... LOOK AT HIS LIFE. MCCAIN IS A PLAIN ENGLISH GUY.

        3. HE'S HONEST. He is honest to himself and to public. Public already knew all the details. THE FOLLOWING ALSO DENIES ALL THOSE HALF-TRUTHS (EVIL LIES) AGAINST MCCAIN IN HIS LIFE.
        1. 1967 - 1974: Twin Misfortune. In 1967, he was captured by the Vietnamese became POW in 7 years. In 1969, while waiting for the return of her husband, McCain's first wife Carol Shepp had an auto accident making her a cripple. Despite all her misfortunes, Carol strengthened her resolve while waiting for her husband's return. McCain returned to American in 1973 and learned the shocking truth. This is a back-to-back real life challenge that both McCain and Carol had to get through with.
        2. 1974-1978: Acceptance. The couple adopted two (2) sons. Together, they tried to live a normal life for the sake of his children and their own. They stayed like this about 5 years. McCain worked in several middle-management jobs. In that period, the relationship between McCain and his wife have also changed from a romantic couple into a true friendship. Despite the change in the status of his relation to his wife, McCain was honest with the media in admitting that he was not truly faithful to her wife. While the couple already accepted that romantice love were no longer there, their friendships have grown further in a new level of mutual respect. But the people around them were not shrewd enough to understand the real status of their marriage. McCain did not immediately divorced Carol. Only McCain can explain it but my opinion points to two reasons: (i) no immediate need for the same; after all, they had to take care of their kids; and, (ii) Mc Cain hadn't yet met the new woman who would make him lover again like his first.
        3. Late 1978 - 1979: Cindy and the Divorse. In late 1978, McCain met for the first time in her second wife, Cindy. For both McCain and Cindy, it was love at first sight. At that time, McCain was 42 while Cindy was 25. Cindy accepted McCain and all his baggages in life including Carol and the two kids. In April 1979, after more than 6 months, McCain and Carol got divorced. As he could never leave his former wife/ now his best friend. For Carol, it was stil l a major sacrifice with a shock since the dread day had already arrived that she would let her friend and husband go. Like his former husband, Carol was also a virtue of courage and selflessness, when he gave the freedom of McCain for next chapter our Hero's life.
        4. Start of a Newlife: May Next Chapter of Life. McCain married his second wife Cindy in May 1979, one month after McCain and Carol divorced and more than3 years staying with Carol as husband, then true friend.

        PART II:

MCCAIN IS A STORY OF REAL AMERICAN WITH AN ORDINARY LIFE STORY. AND AFTER SO MANY YEARS OF REVEALING HIMSELF AND EVEN THE DEEPEST SECRETS THAT HE HAS IN HIS BODY TO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE. WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE?
MCCAIN HAS ALREADY TASTED ALL THE HUMILIATION IN FRONT OF THE PUBLIC. HE HAS HIS SHARE OF SLIP OF TOUNGES. HE DOES NOT HAVE TO PRETEND TO BE SOMEBODY ELSE.
        HE EXPERIENCED THEM ALL! BUT..
        1. HE CONTINUED. He was in a defeated soul almost 20 years ago. But has kept on running.
        2. HE FORGAVE. He was damaged by the machineries of Bush in 2000. But he learned to move on again, continued, heal his wounds, and when he is ready, He forgave. Is that hypocrisy? Definitely not. Despite all your accusations of McCain as bad-tempered, he has a human heart. Not a heart of stone like the rest of many people in this forum.

      • Posted By: Nins @ 06/08/2008 11:41:46 PM

Genevieve, I did not slant any facts. Everything I said was true. You are right that McCain was found guilty of "poor judgement" and sanctioned, but not prosecuted for criminal activity. The reason he wasn't prosecuted? At that time, those kinds of campaign contributions were not actually illegal, although widely looked upon as immoral. Which is why McCain had to do damage control and come out as a crusader for campaign finance reform.

And I did refer to specific bills in my blog, such as the Federal amendment to ban gay marriage, his co-sponsoring the Patients Rights Act with Kennedy, etc. Every single one of the bills I mentioned is easily looked up by you, if you want to take the trouble.

Honestly, I did not (and will not) write anything about McCain that isn't true. I actually even admire the man. I just happen to know a lot about politics, and I do not think that McCain would make an appropriate President, based not only on his record, but on the time of economic crisis we are now facing.

But please, by all means, rebut my posts. I would be happy to clear up any misunderstandings, as I did below in my reply to your blog about Obama's position on abortion. Your questions and concerns are very valid.
