    Obama campaign slogans:

CHANGE ... what you'll have left after I raise taxes.
CHANGE ... what I do to my story depending upon whom I'm talking to.
CHANGE ... what I do every day to my foreign policy
CHANGE ... your lifestyle because the rest of the world doesn't like you
CHANGE ... my friends when they turn out not to be "The person I knew"
CHANGE ... what my radical left-wing ideologue handlers have in store for you
CHANGE ... what I do to facts to suit my needs.
CHANGE ... more of you into victims of something and build government programs to take care of you
CHANGE ... your mind and believe in me for I am the Obamessiah come to save you
CHANGE ... into sycophants; what the liberal mainstream media do under my spell
CHANGE ... into an Obamatron; you too can join the cult if you drink the kool-aid and repeat the chant: CHANGE, CHANGE, CHANGE ...
CHANGE ... part of the chant I use to control the weak-minded Obamanized masses
CHANGE ... what I plan to do to America because it's the greatest country on the planet.
CHANGE ... the national anthems of all the nations of the world to Kumbaya using my messianic skills
CHANGE ... your underwear. Because you'll defecate in your pants when you wake up to find out what the left-wing liberal ideologues have done after gaining complete control of government.

Oh yeah ... CHANGE you better freaking believe in.
He has the AUDACITY to count on you and I being DOPEs

Funny...I just saw Sean Hannity trying to spin the Democratic party as the party of fear, but we see here who is really trying to use fear to swing the election. Unless you make over $200k a year, you don't have to worry about your taxes being raised. But someone has got to pay for this mountain of debt that GWB has created and it won't be McCain. As long as we are pouring money down a hole in Iraq, the dollar will remain weak, causing exorbitant oil prices and destroying our economy.

I think something else that is very important to point out, is that Obama will not reducing the massive national debt with raising taxes on the wealthy alone. He'll fix it by ending the war. He'll fix it by, yes, reducing pork-barrel spending, re-evaluating government programs to make sure they are succeeding in their purpose, and ending no bid contracts, making sure any contract over $25,000 is competitively bid on.

Add that to the fact that he will be reducing taxes on the middle class, lower class and seniors. If you only watch FOX News, you know nothing of this part of his platform. Disagree that you don't think a democrat won't actually do any of this. Disagree that you think the only a democrat can do is grow government, not shrink it. Disagree that you don't think his plans are the best way to achieve the goals that he has put forth. But stop saying the only thing he is saying is "Change" but offering no substance. It's there if you care to take off the bias blinders and look with you OWN eyes.

But judging from your rant, Occam, I doubt that is really something you want to do...

There is a new VP poll that started at this site, and the results are really informative. There is a poll for both dems and reps, so see who the presumtive nominees should choose.

    http://www.votenic.com

The weekly poll ends on Tuesday evening, so get your vote in for the week.

Obama's character is the biggest problem he has. How someone can quit a church only for political reasons and is still perceive as a great guy is mind blowing to me! How can someone with no experience talk so badly about an acting commander in chief? Those things ladies and gentlemen speak about a man's character. Obama will never reach over and extend his views to republicans like McCain has done over and over. Obama thinks that by going to Harvard and speaking well makes him a better candidate and that is flat out wrong to think.

I think once a person puts himself above where he comes from and is so arrogant like Mr. Obama is his character is about himself and has no place in politics. When you are a political leader you have to put your pride aside and do what is right for the people and to make personal moves just because someone says "if u want to be president you must do this" is flat out wrong to me.

I respect his will and desire to be a leader but his character is all wrong for me. In the long hall if he is elected I will never do what he has done and that is dis-respect those who have came before me. This man has shown no respect for Hillary who have put in her time in helping African Americans and minorities achieve rights and he has not show no respect for McCain who went through a lot to get to the point where he is today. How can a person sleep at night knowing he may become the strongest leader in the free world, and he didn't even earn it out right, he would have the Media, and those who have not did their homework to thank for it.

Former President Bill Clinton never served in the military and he was a fine Commander-in-Chief. As a 20-year disabled veteran, I served under him. So I think that your statement against Senator Obama is very unfair. As for leaving a church. When we go to church, we are suppose to be there to worship God and thank Him for the blessings He has bestowed upon us. On the day you die, do you really think it will matter what denomination you where? We owe no allegiance to a particular pastor, church denomination, or sect. We are to serve Jesus Christ and believe on Him, not man. A lot of the truths we hold dear are a matter of our own perception and perspectives, so I think we owe it to each other to be fair in our assessments and research the facts. Once you've grown up poor, and seen the deprevation in poor neighborhoods, you can never be elistist. It breaks your heart to the very core. I have great respect for the Clintons and the superb job they did while in office. However, we don't owe them anything. We stood by Bill and Hillary through their tough times. We need to pave the way for new ideas. It's time to pass the baton.

O'Bama left his church for political reasons, not because of a change in his faith. He beleived in this church & it's teachings along with his wife for 20 years.! There is 2 things I cannot beleive in. The Republican stance of making the rich richer, are'nt they doing so by making everyone else poorer? The second is the Democratic stance on abortion. O'Bama voted against giving medical aid to an aborted baby that was born alive. May God have mercy on his soul. And if faith & religion is in the picture, wouldn't the abortion rate reduce significantly if everyone that goes to church lived up to it's moral teachings? Wouldn't there be less disease & medical expenses? Wouldn't there be less children born with aids? O'Bama's response as to why he voted as he did on that bill was he would not want to see his daughters raise children they did not want. All you childless families, how hard is it for you to obtain a baby for adoption in our own country. If the immoral people were to carry these children to term, there is families that want them even if the natural mother doesn't. These are the reasons I, like Lou Dobbs, am an independent . Both of the prominent Party's are immoral in one way or another.

Obviously, you have forgotten that McCain was raised an Episcopalian, but when he decided to enter politics as a Republican, he knew that wouldn't cut any ice with the right-wingers, so he quit and joined the Southern Baptists. I'll bet the number of times he's actually attended religious services could be balanced on the head of a pin.

What a liar, this McCain. Just like Clinton, if you say it loug enough and long enough then the American people will believe it. McCain has no more 'experience' and much less I might add for being president of the United States than anyone else. He definitely has no more experience in being president than Obama and Obama needs to stop allowing him to get away with this experience, judgment, knowledge thing. What McCain has is YEARS ON OBAMA, HE HAS AGE and he is a veteran. So there are many veterans, there are many POWs, it doesn't qualify them to be president. In fact, it may be just the opposite in many cases, and just so in McCain's case. He talks about Obama distorting his record, well he sure knows how to distort Obama's and like Obama said, not give him credit for his accomplishments. McCain refuses to acknowledge that George Bush lied about Iraq, just to start a war so the American people would continue to vote for him, and that is the only reason McCain wants to continue this thing because he knows if you start a war, if there is war the American people will vote for you. However, the thing that Obama MUST point out is that THERE IS AND HAS NEVER BEEN A REAL WAR here. It was a sadly manufactured one. This has been an invasion, an attack an illegimate war, a 'never declared war' war. So McCain is exactly like Bush, he is McBush, wanting to continue to mislead the American people, wanting to continue to march with fear, instill fear into the American people, wanting to continue to not talk to our adversaries. He is absolutely barking up the same tree as George Bush. Oy, to think of another 4 years of George Bush. The only problem here, too however, is that McBush would be worse, much worse, than George Bush! "My friends." Go Obama!!!!

I can't believe the Obama supporters are STILL bashing Hillary!! How do you expect to win in November if you keep insulting Hillary? She has 18 million disappointed supporters. It's up to Obama and his supporters if he wants to bring them into the fold, or let McCain scoop them up.

What will be proven in this election is how much influence the media has over American opinion. It is becoming clear that we are more concerned with our opinions than the success of our nation as a whole. The most important thing in the country is the country. I believe most people remember the quote that Kennedy once said about what we can do for our country. For a country founded by a group of individuals that for once in history would be so bold to state that we should be recognized as We the People. There is no We the United States. This country is all about us and how we treat one another. In our history there have been many horrid wrong doings toward one another. But the American spirit calls on us to be unified and heal. Yet we forget history and make the same mistakes over and over again.

What we should not forget is the role of the president. The founding fathers were very concerned about such a powerful position given to one person. This is why we as American's should consider it a civic duty to understand the candidates better. To side with one individual and find faults in the other candidate does nothing to the common good. The party system creates bias and destroys unity. Americans should look at both sides and think about all the roles a president plays. Foreign affairs, control of the military, power of Veto, leadership, state relations, economics, and others. This should not just be about age, race, gender, political party, religion etc. We need to be concerned about who will represent the American ideal. Who is going to serve the people and protect Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness? Who is going to respect that we choose our government democratically; that our government is a republic and not centralized; that we believe in being a haven for all people regardless of their beliefs or ways. Who will lead our country and not a portion of our country?

What concerns me is that being a good citizen is not a priority in this country. We do not want the best for all of our fellow citizens. We cannot separate our personal beliefs, values, and wants from our political decisions. We would rather get our way individually regardless of how it affects our fellow citizens. Being like this is un-American. If anyone thinks like this, regardless of how they argue otherwise, they go against what this country was founded for. America is a place for people to be themselves and the government it not here to force people to be one way or another.
So based on this way of thinking, what McCain says is extremely valid. Like him or not, he deserves a chance to be heard. Myself I have not decided who to vote for as there are many more questions they will both have to answer. But the media wrote this article in a way that is insulting to our country. The use of Rock Star and Substance are weighted terms. Since when is the news about telling us how to vote?

    • Posted By: bcrawf2033 @ 06/09/2008 11:40:33 AM

I applaud your comments on being a good citizen and how Americans treat each other. All of us need to do a much better job of understanding how our behavior can offend people. I lived in Germany for four years, and in Korea for two during military service. People were respectful and went out of their way to teach me about their culture and encouraged me to feel included as an American in a foreign country. I work daily with people from Brazil, Africa and several other cultures. I've tried to make them feel just as included as I felt overseas. Your comments make me hopeful that there are thinking people out there who care about America's reflection in the mirror and around the globe.

Interestingly, because it seems to me that "journalists" can be part some of the most elitist,authority-to-themselves characters.Perhaps thats the price of freedom speech of humanism pseudo.Question is,from where do they derive their gracious righteousness? Likely, it is from their own "conscience," which is hardly objective.

FYI, yes, homosexuality is sinful, destructive behavior, not because my conscience says so or just because it has led to the premature death of so many (via AIDS, which is practically 100% preventable for adults in this country), but because an objective authority (Creator of the Universe) says so.
Refused to go back to Washington on Thursday to Vote to give Women Rights For Equal Pay on the same jobs as MEN (Said they need more Training) Women are you really listening? He & President Bush said the bill would cause WOMEN TO FILE LAWSUITS. Apparently Neither thought that employers would give equal pay, because if they did, there would be no lawsuits to file correct? Both REPUBULICAN are Big Liars.

And in doing all things. SAFETY comes first. Don't you that 099% of the building s here in the country since 1990s have BMS? A major component of BMS is Safety.

Do you know that even your simple appliances using electricity has Safety Precaution.

Why do you hate Safety? You don't need safety.... and you are now brave enough. Then break the safety protocol. Go to Iran by yourself and show your Wisdom and Grit to the Arabs.

Hope your stubbornness and lack of respect of authority put you somewhere.... I just pray your carcasses can still be placed in a decent coffin for us, your compatriot , give you proper burial.

Even people of the smallest country requires safety. How much more USA. the world's supper power.

Ron Paul would be a better bet for the Repugnants this year. I may not agree with some of his policies but at least with Ron paul you are getting someone who believes in what he is saying and isn't a puppet on a string as "McCain't and isn't able to Govern" is.

    • Posted By: Northwestwoods @ 06/09/2008 12:00:02 AM

You RonPolyps need to get over yourself already, for ***'s sake. Ron Paul is not going to be president in 2008, 12, 16, 20, or any other time so please stop sniveling and get with the *** program.
Why don't you you middle-earthers just go ahead and vote for small' government McMaverick and hold your breath and hope the world doesn't end too soon? Hmmm?

      • Posted By: Nins @ 06/09/2008 12:33:58 AM

North, I think you are missing a couple of points:

        1) Driver is entitled to support whomever he wants.

        2) Driver almost never mentions Paul, he's hardly droning on and on.

I always thought (and Driver can correct me if I am wrong), that he was a Paul supporter whose candidate choice would be Paul first, Obama second and McCain third. So I think that your intensity might be a little misplaced. Driver surely isn't a friend of McCain. Heck, read more of his posts!

        • Posted By: Driver of wagons @ 06/09/2008 11:14:04 AM

Not really A Paul supporter but I realize he would be a better opponent for Barack Obama then "McCain't and isn't able to Govern" And many inside of their party realize this as well. I am an Independent and have voted all over the map for whom I thought would do the best job. As I see it today their is no other choice to help Us change Washington then Barack Obama. So he will get my vote. "MCain't and isn't able to Govern" is a mere mirage of himself. So much so that he is having trouble finding himself. So he lets his handlers do it for him SAD SAD SAD

    • Posted By: Nins @ 06/09/2008 12:20:53 AM

I agree with you, Driver. As a Republican, I was intrigued by Paul. He has lots of the old fashioned Republican values. What worried me about him the most were his radical fringe supporters. I'm not referring to you, by the way. You seem to have a head on your shoulders. Your posts are really interesting. Could you give any references for what you wrote about McCain hugging the Vietnamese General? If that is true, it is really scary.

Anyway, I looked at Paul, but in the end I had to come out for Obama. Maybe it's because I'm an establishmentarianist at heart, and I see Obama as a mighty force for good in the favor of the establishment. I think it is crazy when people call him a liberal. Sure, he's got some liberal ideas. But he sure thinks with a corporate mind, and I can relate to that. Corporate thinking is successful thinking. When you graft it on to a centered moral compass and a social vision, you've got a winning, uniquely American ticket.

  • Posted By: J.Richter @ 06/09/2008 11:11:16 AM

    Substance Senator McCain?
And you came up with that dumb gas tax thing for the summer (that even the best republican economists and minds said was junk). Shows you are only out to win and then give us 4 similar years of backwardness. You are a panderer. And the price has risen 70c since your proposal to cut 18c off for a sum of $24. That's your plan. Your opponents has proposed a bill for a second tax rebate of $1000 to address this issue and it gets to us not to oil companies and countries where again you want to continue spending $2 million of our money everyday. And he IS the tax and spend liberal?

And $5000 tax credit is your health plan? Do you live on this planet? Mine with wife and 2 kids cost me $19000 per year and my employer covers about half of this and now you'll eliminate employer coverage. And what happens to the uninsured. We all end up paying the big HMO for this also. Even the current system is better than your rich folk only slanted proposals.

And you had the audacity to now support Bush tax cuts when you voted against it in 2000. And 80% of the cuts goto the top 1% in the country. That's substance.

And now supporting Bush's wiretapping program and interpreting the same way his excess encroachment of the constitution and democratic liberties is also your SUBSTANCE.

We have suffereed long enough for the past 8 years - spending our money in the middle east while China and others build their infrastructure. 4 more of those and our country will be too weak or poor and we may not be able to sustain our country as the best in the world and a thriving economy where you can own a home and eat comfortably when you work.

I hate when Politicians took an advantage and manipulate on religious ground to gains his Politic Score.Trying to out to be evangelicals as self-righteous, hypocritical, prudish, trying hard as old school throwbacks?Senator Obama sometimes leaves out what he believes thoughtful respecful that people should already know and understand the many issues. The way he respects American public by making complete answers that people have all the surrounding information working in their reasoning. I do believe his mistake is honest and is more of his wanting to believe that Americans think logically. He will need to take more time to give a more complete explantion of his positions and not assume everyone "gets it".
As I said before We Americans should see him as the natural Universal leader that represent America and the World stage too,we judges him on his ability to unites many American of all walks of life together and how he present his true coolness characteristics during this heated primary. It's our great pleasure and refreshing zest having the President of his magnitude and capabilities. Americans should regards this as "An Asset rather then liability".
I think Barack Obama would actually be much better for America security. There's no doubt to me McCain would be better than Bush, the Bush years being probably as much about fueling terrorism than fighting it. But McCain would still represent (but less) what can be seen as America's arrogance, something that makes USA so unpopular around the world. A black man with Hussein as a middle name would send a clear message in Middle East that America is about freedom, an important contrast with some form of imperialism. Combined with Obama intelligence about understanding dialogging with enemies, I humbly think this would affect directly terrorism recruiting. I may sound over-optimistic, but I think his image alone as a president could do more for democracy in Middle East than any war.
Check out the fate of Sodom and Gomorrah (Genesis 18 and 19). Take a look at Romans 1:22-32. Pretty sobering reading - if you are not too self-important and arrogant to think you've already got it all figured out and don't need the input of the Ancient of Days.

I consider Senator Obama to be a man of great substance. I consider Senator McCain a man who used to have more integrity but has now come to embrace ''all of the 'wrong' stuff' when it comes to substance. So he fails in his attempt to try to frame the dynamic between them using substance as an argument.
Senator McCain used to be a man I admired. I have watched the senate for many years... but he has become just like the senators he used to criticize and with all due respect, I do not consider him fit to be our president. He speaks to us as if he is learning to read the prompt... He is getting things wrong daily.... He is just not in good enough shape to be our president. I don't feel he has the right demeanor either.

What is the substance of Obama beside repeating like a Parot "Change", if you have seen him in the debates he does not have the slightest idea what is the content of change, and he is totally shaken whenever a second grade level question is asked of him.

OBAMA what a joke he is!!!

Obv iously you were dropping acid while you watched the debates. Obama articulated his policies clearly.

First of all, McCain, we don't want you for our president. You are a liar, just like Bush, who has screwed up this country. you think you can win this war. We don't think so. Are you going to lie to do so. McCain doesn't even know who the enemy is. Why would this country want another republican in office, especially after what Bush has done. Bush lied to all of us all along. What gets me, is that this country let him get away with it. See how crooked this country is? McCain won't do anything for this country. He's another Bush. He won't do anything about the price of gas or anything else to better this country. Vote for Obama in November so we can get our America back.

If we are lucky McCain and Obama will come down with what Kennedy has and then we could make it a triple funeral, paid for by their supporters and not by taxpayers. Bunch of trash.

      You are a real retard.

You're a fool to think replacing Democrats and Republicans with more Democrats and Republicans will solve anything. I suspect that the majority of people who are for McCain or for Obama know that our country is doomed. They know that no matter who gets in office things will only get worse. They play a game with themselves; they try to convince themselves and each other that the system works. It's sort of like the passengers aboard the Titanic trying to convince one another that the ship isn't sinking. Deep down they know all is lost but they keep pretending. Then when someone like me who comes along to remind them of the harsh reality of the situation they all get mad and tell me to shut up. That's okay because I will find a lifeboat and abandon ship before all hell breaks loose. You ignoramuses keep trying because YOU are the real retards!

Now that it looks like Obama will be the nominee I have been asking his supporters what the first thing he will "change" is.

"I don't know. I haven't really thought about it," is what they all say.

Now that Obama has the support of the establishment do you really think he will "change" the system that has put him on track to be the most powerful man in the world?

You know the answer to that question.

For anyone who has watched the fighting (Swift boating, etc) type of campaigning for the past twenty years, the fact he is staying above the fray, is a change even my republican mother noted.

As for other changes... For starters, changing our foreign policy. (Iraq was the first unprovoked war in American history). When Bush came into office, gas was just over a dollar, now it's over four. [Because of future trading of commodities]. How about a change in our over sight, which seemed to have ended when bush took office. In order to see the change, you first have to know where we've been...

"I was against tax cuts before I was for them" ~ John [Flipper] McCain

The only thing McSame is changing, is his mind...
