Food, housing and health insurance are necessary for everyone, If government give free food, free public housing and health to some people, who needs to work?

McBush sez: "So when French intelligence and German intelligence and all the others???I don't know what role spin plays in it, but I don't think it would have been very easy for anyone in this administration to spin French intelligence or other nations that held the same view."

McBush is lying. German intelligence WARNED Bush that the source code named Curve Ball was throwing curve balls with his tall tails of "trailers of mass destruction" and other such garbage that the Bushites used to dupe the American public into war. And the intelligence people were complaining that the necons were "cherry picking" intelligence that they could use to sell the war and "stove-pipiing" to Cheney so they could avoid the vetting that intelligence is supposed to be subjected to.

If Bush doesn't do it first before he leaves office, McBush will use the same sort of deceptions to lie us into a war with Iran that Bush used to lie us into the Iraq war.

Wow! I use to like this guy. Go Obama!

I can't imagine what kind of "substance" John McCain claims to offer. So far, there's not a single one of his policies that could make the claim to substance, except, of course, for his policies on continuing a war with Iraq and possibly starting another war with Iran (and even then he can't get the players right). A statement like this is nothing more than a bad joke and one I am surely hoping the American people will not fall for again -- not after 8 years of the Bush administration pushing the same kind of empty hype.

    Obama '08!

  • Posted By: Spacer @ 06/08/2008 10:25:03 PM

Yeah, substance can trump star power, but McCain doesn't have any. The corporate media just wants the public to believe he does because he's done favors for the telecommunications industry in the past and he can do much more for them if he gets to be president.

Obama has star power. He also has substance, despite the "narrative" that the corporate propaganda mill is grinding out.

  • Posted By: MsSKWesq @ 06/08/2008 10:16:30 PM

John McCain is nothing but a warmonger. He is willing to do anything and say anything to get the Presidency, but he has NO SUBSTANCE at all: Keating 5, calling his wife ugly names, abandoning his first wife for being disabled, associating with dishonest lobbyists, riding Bush's coattails. Why is he withholding documents on the Abramoff investigation? He is the enemy to women, the middle class and to those who believe in America's standing in the world as a beacon for peace and modernity. To elect John McCain is to pull the trigger on a winless war with Iran. He is dangerous for our children's future.

It's truly amazing that the "change" candidate has voted a strictly party line, while McCain has po'd the Republicans by voting his own agenda. I suppose the real "change" we can expect from Barack is a pure one-party agenda.

    • Posted By: swim2thesea @ 06/08/2008 10:13:08 PM

I believe you'll find McCain voted with GWB 95% last year (and I believe the number was 100% the year before that)...not quite the maverick you would like to think he is.

  • Posted By: troubador52 @ 06/08/2008 10:12:34 PM

Well, of course this is typically MSM simplistic, implying that McCain is the only candidate who offers "substance." This is a quality that is not only a function of chronological experience, but also of depth of thought and scope of vision, both of which, clearly, Obama possesses.

"Substance" is also not, in and of itself, necessarily a positive trait, if it is based upon fuzzy logic and faulty perspective. Basing your vote on one candidate's ability to quit smoking is similar to deciding on which car to buy after kicking the tires.

While I totally respect the sacrifices McCain has made in service of his country, I do not believe that those sacrifices, alone, merit his election to the highest office, any more than Kerry's war record did for him in '04.

There are serious, world-changing issues at stake, and genuine differences between the two candidates. It's way past time that American voters stop judging based on superficialities and make enlightened choices based on a thorough analysis of our current situation, and each candidate's perceived abilities to improve it.

  • Posted By: notroubleatall1963 @ 06/08/2008 10:09:30 PM

Neither candidate has so far showed much "substance" and I think both would be better served to take some time formulating their policy plans rather than waste breath in a series of shallow debates designed to coddle McCain so his piss-poor speaking abilities and debate skills don't show so terribly badly against Obama's brilliance.

Please, America, don't vote for a man to be our next President because you find his faults "endearing" or because you feel intimidated by another man's intelligence. Set your own fears aside and vote for someone who is truly substantive, who will act quickly to get things done that matter to most Americans, rather than prolong a war just to continue to line the pockets of the rich Republicans who control the military-industrial complex.

Do not let yourself be swayed by his "heroism" in Vietnam -- your former hero, Bush, certainly wasn/t. He didn't allow that to stop HIM plowing his way illegally into the White House with the help of his dad, his dad's friend Jim Baker, and the Supreme Court - who'd no doubt owed Bush Sr. some favor or other.

cbnboy1974-AA always vote upwards of 90% for the Dems...what are you talking about? Obama has crapped on the working class vis-a-vie the San Francisco comments. WHy do you think he did so bad in WV and KY? He was supposed to win SD and didn't...he hobbled across the finish line. I think you need to brush up on your politics....

    • Posted By: swim2thesea @ 06/08/2008 10:04:47 PM

Of course, that is a misunderstanding of what Obama was saying in SF. His point was that government had done nothing in terms of helping them with their financial situation, so they chose to vote against their economic interests (Democratic..unions, etc) in favor of their social/cultural issues (Republican....abortion, gun rights, religion). It's unfortunate the way he said it, but he was trying to make a point about government's failures.

John "Substance" McCain. Pretty funny stuff. The only significant difference between John McCain and George W. Bush is that (to his credit) McCain didn't desert during the Viet Nam War. Other than that Bush and McCain are one.

    Keating Five Scandal
McCain received more than $112,000 in campaign
contributions from one Charles Keating (including
$54,000 for his Senate campaign). Between 1984 and
1986 McCain and family had vacationed at Keating's
home in the Bahamas. (Keating was a corrupt owner of a
savings-and-loan empire that ended up costing
taxpayers $3 billion.) For these contributions Keating
hoped (expected) McCain and four other senators - John
Glenn, Dennis DeConcini, Alan Cranston, Donald Riegle,
would protect him from federal banking regulators.
After a 14 month investigation by the non independent
Ethics Committee (The Good Old Boys Club) all McCain
received was a slap on the wrist for using "poor
judgment"! and McCain immediately went on a reinventing himself promotion facade. But in all reality is very much involved with lobbyist with a mere 100 and counting working for his campaign

Minimal Involvement? Yeah if you are bully in the Senate and your buddies "The Good Old Boys" Are on the committee! If you were the Normal Hard Working American you would still be behind bars. McCain was found guilty and they let him off the hook. I wonder how much pork was involved in that mess?

Ha Ha Ha Ho Ho Ho He He He

McCain has resisted any kind of war crimes
investigation of his former Vietnamese torturers.
Prosecution and subsequent trials could bring to
justice the Vietnamese torturers known by the American
POWs as the Bug, Slopehead, the Prick, the Soft Soap
Fairy, Rabbit, the Cat, Zorba and many others who were
responsible for the murder in North Vietnam of at
least 55 U.S. POWs and the brutal torture of hundreds
    of others.

In November 1991, Tracy Usry, chief investigator of
the Minority Staff of the U.S. Senate Foreign
Relations Committee, testified before the Senate
Select Committee on POW/MIA Affairs, that the Soviets
interrogated U.S. prisoners of war in Vietnam. McCain
became outraged, interrupting Usry several times,
arguing that "none of the returned U.S. prisoners of
war released by Vietnam were ever interrogated by the
    Soviets."

Former KGB Maj. Gen. Oleg Kalugin testified during the
hearings that the KGB did interrogate U.S. POWs in
Vietnam. Kalugin stated that one of the POWs worked on
by the KGB was a "high-ranking naval officer," who,
according to Kalugin, agreed to work with the Soviets
upon his repatriation to the United States and has
    frequently appeared on U.S. television.

Col. Bui Tin, a former Senior Colonel in the North
Vietnamese Army, testified on the same day, but after
Usry, that because of his high position in the
Communist Party during the war he had the authority to
"read all documents and secret telegrams from the
politburo" pertaining to American prisoners of war. He
said that not only did the Soviets interrogate some
American prisoners of war, but that they treated the
    Americans very badly.

McCain stunned onlookers at the hearing when he moved
to the witness table and physically embraced Col. Tin
as if he was a long, lost brother.

The Republicans are crying because they know they can't defeat a brilliant younger man running against their choice, an old, set-in-his-ways, curmudgeon who can't possibley have an answer or solution to the mess we're in now. When was the last time a Republican brought prosperity and peace to our Country? Never. Why do oil companies and many other industries rake in huge profits, avoid the laws of OSHA, and do what they want? The answer is a greedy, fraudulent and selfish Administration that is run by lobyists. More of this and we can all start to learn Chinese.

How to beat a rock star! Do what Clinton was unable to do...show him for the fraud that he really is. Remind the country of how the Democratic party handled the primaries and how they showed no favortism and leadership. Remind Clinton supporters how the party treated her and her supporters. Remind the country especially the people in MI and FL how undemocratic the party is and that instead of having a revote and allowing the voters to decide. The party insiders decided how their votes will count and the party insiders decided who will win NOT the voters!

Challenge his change stance and show that he has no real record of fighting for change. Reveal his extreme liberal views. Show the hypocrisy and don't forget the shady Rezko delaings.

Lastly, remind voters that Obama has no experience, no record and let the 527 groups deal with his anti american/anti white associations starting with his wife. Continue to show his assciations and things they have said and done! Starting with Michelle, Wright, Ayers etc... remind the country how anti american terrorist groups have all but endorsed him!

The Dems will be easy to beat but the Republicans have to be aggressive and constant with their attacks and release the "BIG WHAMMY" about 2-4 weeks before the elections!

Clinton chose to stop fighting before she was fully able to turn things around. McCain, you have EVERYTIHING you need to take Obama and the Dems down HARD! All you have to do is GET AGRRESIVE AND BUSY!

You must remember, there is an significant part of the voter bloc that Mccain would need to beat Obama , and that is the AA community, and he is NOT gonna get it! Obama has a better chance of reaching out to the working class then Mccain does the AA community, but then again, Mccain has already said the AA community is insignificant!

You are in la la land if you think MOST of America is going to support Obama! HIllary wasn't able to do much of anything! The 527 will. Just wait and see! The GE is an ENTIRELY different ball gam than the primaries!

I voted for Mccain in 2000. I would not vote for him today. Everything That Mccain disputed in this story is no way close to the truth.I watched his speech. He did state the pundits in the press and the elders in the DNC picked Obama as the nominee. He voted for giving the telecoms immunity in the FISA bill so they could illegaly wiretap the American public. That is the law that this President is breaking. and Mccain voted with the President. France and Germany thought that Iraq had nukes but had no proof. A HUNCH is not good enough to take a country to war. That is why the UN did not vote for Iraq invasion. NO PROOF! The statement about Obama are also false.Mccain can not even remember what he said one day to the next much less anything Obama has said. Mccain is a recklessly dishonest man in 2008

  • Posted By: VotersIssues @ 06/08/2008 12:06:55 PM

Obama is a SELECTED not ELECTED nominee, he will lose BIG. You can not act like this is a THIRD WORLD Country and expect to get away with it, that is exactly what the DNC and it cronies did. Now with that said Obama MOB STYLE Politics will not work in gthe GENERAL, this is not the 60's and that is what Obama is about., all hot air so much so his CHEEKS PUFF when he speaks and his snake like persona he hisses when he speaks , he ahs forgoten that there are 18 Million PLUS WHOM DID NOT ELECT HIM and he ws not THEIR SELECTION, oh he will lose by how muich of a LANDSLIDE IS UNCERTAIN.........

    • Posted By: cbnboy1974 @ 06/08/2008 6:09:07 PM

Take the very fact that Congressman "Slick" Rick
    Renzi's the AZ co-chair of McCain's campaignis
ethically-challenged, and the indictment of Renzi and
two business associates by the U.S. Attorney's office
on numerous counts including "wire fraud, extortion
and money laundering, and conspiracies to engage in
these acts" is no surprise. Most with a political clue
knew Renzi was the target of an ongoing corruption
probe by the Feds. Last summer, Renzi announced he
wouldn't run for Congress again, probably because he
was aware something like this was coming.

So why would McCain be so stupid as to make Renzi his
co-chair in AZ? I could understand the misstep if
Renzi was an unknown pol repping him in some other
state, but this is in McCain's own back yard. Renzi
and the allegations swirling around him have been
well-reported. It certainly makes you wonder if McCain
has a political blind spot large enough to blot out
    the very state he represents.

I fully expect that McCain will be dogged throughout
the campaign by various stories documenting his
Janus-faced approach to political ethics. The
Washington Post recently reported on McCain's meeting
with Russian billionaire Oleg Deripaska, who had his
visa revoked by the U.S.government because of his
    "suspected links to anti-democratic and
    organized-crime figures." McCain's campaign manager
Rick Davis assisted in putting the two men together in
    2006.

Davis told the Post that his contacts with Deripaska
"all relate to my private business and have nothing to
do with Senator John McCain." The Post said there was
no evidence of wrongdoing, or of some sort of
tit-for-tat. Still, such coziness with a billionaire
recalls a certain coziness with a high-roller named
    Charles Keating.

Indeed, the ghost of the Keating Five scandal is
always close by McCain. We were reminded of this in
watching grizzled old legal warhorse Robert Bennett
being pulled out of the barn to defend McCain in this
recent joust with The New York Times. Attorney Bennett
(who's famous for defending Bill Clinton in the Monica
Lewinsky case), led the Senate ethics investigation in
the Keating affair back in the '80s. Bennett was
criticized by another member of the Keating Five,
Senator Dennis DeConcini, in his recent memoir,
Senator Dennis DeConcini: From the Center of the
    Aisle.

McCain, of being the establishment candidate for the Republican party. But there is a major void in the Republican race waiting to be filled. A recent Strategic Vision poll of likely Republican caucus-goers in Iowa found that a sizable majority (54% to 37%) favored "withdrawal of all United States military from Iraq within the next six months." Other than Ron Paul, however, there is no Republican in the race speaking for these voters on this issue.

Below is just a trickle of the storm that is brewing inside the GOP and it goes without saying mcCain is not their pick to run on their parties ticket but by the main stream media's darling. have to have a contest to sell product!
