    RE: SOCIAL SECURITY

As a Moderate Independent that leans to the right, I actually favor Obama's position on SS.

BOTTOM LINE! BOTH PARTY'S NEED TO "STOP ROBBING PETER TO PAY PAUL"---AND HIS COUNTLESS BROTHERS!

Big Gov. has been saying that SS is goin' bankrupt ever since I was a kid! AND TRUST ME THAT WAS A LONG, LONG TIME AGO!

    SO STOP THE SCARE TACTICS!!!

But if we need to add a few bucks to the pot, because every freakin' politician has had his hand in the cookie jar at one time or another, than Obama has the right idea on this very important issue. Taking a few more bucks from people making over $250,000 a year seems reasonable.

IMHO, the $250,000 + mark is reasonable. But if you start to mess with people making less than $250,000, you're now messing with the Middle-Class (MC)! And with the economy currently in a major funk, now is not the time to be screwing with backbone of society (MC).

That would be a sure recipe for disaster!!!!

P.S. JOHN MC CAIN TAKE NOTE SIR!!!!

"I think we've got a world of problems," said one Republican strategist with extensive experience in presidential campaigns. He said this came home to him with a thud when he watched Obama and McCain give speeches last Tuesday, with the Democrat speaking before "20,000 screaming fans, while John McCain looked every bit of his 72 years" in a speech televised from New Orleans. This Republican cited McCain's speech with a green backdrop that made McCain "look like the cottage cheese in a lime Jell-O salad."

McCain is looking real good in Town Hall meeting he is in right now (LIVE on TV) in the Federal bldg. in NYC. No teleprompter. LOL. He is good at talking one on one about issues in a Town Hall setting. Where is Obama?

Johnnie Midnight follows Dumbya's play book to a "T"

The first in a much-hyped series of 'town hall' forums scheduled by John McCain's campaign, in which Barack Obama had been challenged to show up to discuss the issues directly with the GOP nominee.

Except, as Fox News reported, McCain's campaign misled the public about the nature of the event. The forum was "billed by the McCain campaign as a town hall with independent and Democratic voters," but Fox News noted at the end that the audience was actually "made up of invited guests and supporters," the Democratic National Committee said in a statement.

Here is FNC's Shepard Smith breaking the news:

SMITH: "I reported at the top of this hour that the campaign had told us at Fox News that the audience would be made up of Republicans, Democrats, and independents. We have now received a clarification from the campaign and I feel I should pass it along to you. The McCain campaign Distributed Tickets to Supporters, Mayor Bloomberg, who of course is a registered Republican, and other independent groups."

DNC Chairman Howard Dean issued the following statement:

"Once again John McCain's campaign is trying to mislead the American people. Senator McCain should understand that after seven years of a President who has divided Americans and pursued a scorched earth policy full of misleading propaganda campaigns, we need a leader who understands he is the President for all Americans not just his supporters. Copying the Bush campaign model of stacking events with his prescreened supporters is not the transparency Americans are looking for. If that is Senator McCain's idea of straight talk, the American people are in for a long and disappointing campaign season."

"McCain't and isn't able to Govern" is a mere mirage of himself

Extend the Pain vote for McCain

Darn it! When are you going to learn John that "Fix News" is not your friend? Rup Murdork & Co. are a bunch of cross-dressin' GOP turncoats like Rush Limbratt and Laura InGrump.

Did you get the word John? Rup has jumped ship over to the LEFTY side! He and Warren Buff are now officially members of the PROGRESSIVE BO CULT! Scary stuff huh?

Oh well ... you don't need a bunch of turncoat NeoconArtists anyhow.

    SOMETHING TO PONDER

    The Roebuck Report
    Sunday, May 18, 2008

    McCain is No George W
Because of President George W. Bush???s low approval ratings, many Democrats and their liberal allies want the next presidential election to be a referendum on Bush???s performance over the past eight years.

The words ??? Bush???s third term ??? and even ??? carbon copy of Bush??? have already become commonplace among the second- and third-tier liberal pundits / hacks (and Democrat presidential candidates ) in describing the possibility of a John McCain administration.

Trendy online mag Salon (the Web???s answer to NPR ) proclaims: ??? John McCain runs for Bush???s third term. ??? On a North Carolina Democratic Web site: ??? John McCain offers nothing more than a Bush third term. ??? Sen. Barack Obama has even gotten into the action, saying Sen. McCain is determined ??? to run for George Bush???s third term. ??? You get the point. This stupid, oversimplified talking point is nonsense.

The only person who could legitimately claim to be giving us four more years of Bush administration is Vice President Dick Cheney. And he isn???t running for president last time I checked. Neither is Karl Rove, who I suppose could also legitimately carry the mantle of a ??? third ??? Bush term. But not McCain.

John McCain is no George W. Bush.

Did John McCain betray US in Vietnam?

"In his book, the Arizona Senator repeatedly expresses guilt and disgrace at having broken under torture and given the North Vietnamese a taped confession, broadcast over the camp loudspeakers, saying he was a war criminal who had, among other acts, bombed a school. "I felt faithless and couldn't control my despair," he writes. He writes, revealing that he made two half-hearted attempts at suicide. Most tellingly, he said he lived in "dread" that his father would find out. "I still wince," he says, "when I recall wondering if my father had heard of my disgrace."

THIS MAN IS NOT FIT TO BE MY PRESIDENT!!!!!!

    • Posted By: Concerned Ctzn @ 06/10/2008 5:28:07 PM

Hey BoogieShoes, THAT'S WHAT I CALL A REAL WAR HERO! Any man or woman who can admit his/her mistakes and weaknesses is a true hero in my book.

Unlike our current Pres, BOTH Klintoonies, and apparently the new messiah, I want somebody that is honest and true to himself.

Until you've lived in a POW's shoes, I'd strongly suggest that you not be so quick and easy to judge.

      • Posted By: Nins @ 06/10/2008 6:21:32 PM

Unless you have lived in a black man's shoes, I'd strongly suggest that you not be so quick and easy to judge Obama's integrity and truth to himself.

I do agree with you that the fact McCain broke under torture is not something that I personally would judge him for. Lord knows what any of us would do in that situation.

However, collaborating with the enemy is considered TREASON, and while I am willing to forgive McCain, I am NOT willing to elect a President who has committed treason.

        • Posted By: Concerned Ctzn @ 06/10/2008 6:30:47 PM

Ohhh Puleeeeze! Stop that! I come from very humble beginnings! But I care to keep that part of my life to myself rather than cry about how unfair life is.

Now, regarding your statement about McCain:

"However, collaborating with the enemy is considered TREASON,"

THAT'S FUNNY YOU SHOULD MENTION THAT. ISN'T THAT WHAT BO WANTS TO DO?

          COLLABORATE WITH OUR RUTHLESS ENEMIES?!

          • Posted By: Nins @ 06/10/2008 6:52:06 PM

Concerned, I was not referring to your economic background, but to your privileged skin color.

I wish that you could see what I was really saying, which was to mirror what you wrote about judging McCain harshly. And I even agreed with you, saying that I don't judge him on a personal level, only on a political one.

Furthermore, Obama saying that he wants to have diplomatic relations with hostile nations is NOT at all the same thing as committing treason. EVERY PRESIDENT IN HISTORY HAS HAD DIPLOMATIC RELATIONS WITH HOSTILE NATIONS, except of course, Geo. W Bush who has proved to the world that his foreign policy is so amazing, so good, so effective, that it is even better than his ability to manage the economy.

            Ahem.

Bush's policy of refusing to talk with other nations is a direct outcome of his ego being bigger than his IQ. Colin Powell, Condi Rice and Robert Gates (the Secretary of Defense) have all urged Bush to use diplomacy with Iran, Palestine and other rogue nations, but Bush refuses to listen to them.

And YOUR comparing Obama's desire to use Ambassadors to further peace to McCain's acts of treason while he was a POW is just more real down-home GOP smoke and mirrors. If someone says something true that you don't want the public to hear, you immediately attack that person with untrue accusations, and the more outrageous the better. This way, the original truth gets obscured.

We have your MO all figured out.

What Obama wants to do is not call collaboration, it is called negotiation. If negotiation is collaboration, then Ronald Regan would be guilty of treason because he sure did "collaborate" with the Soviet Union alot. Nixon would be a traitor for "collaborating" with China.

If Barry admitted a mistake Scarborough - would you have given him a pass and called him brave? Think before you answers. All you have to know is Flag Pins, bitter and Bills. He apologized for far less horrendous offenses - what was your reaction? Hero? Or, maybe: He's not good enough.

Mc was a war fighter. He sold out the country he wants to run. But, he said sorry.

You are very impressed with his academic credentials, but how do you know he earned them. What exactly did he write to earn the post at the Harvard Law Review? Why is he considered a constitutional scholar? When your empty suit can answer questions without a telaprompter Ill be impressed. Looking forward to the town hall meetings. I'll paste it again:
All you need to do is look at the public Senate Record before blubbering. The Obama list of accomplishments is long so here is the short version. The bills can be found on Library of Congress at thomas.loc.gov. Type in Obama. For you dumb people with the right wing mom and pop URL periodicals - this is the LIBRARY.

During his first - 8 - eight years of elected service Obama sponsored over 820 bills. He introduced 233 regarding healthcare reform, 125 on poverty and public assistance, 112 crime fighting bills, 97 economic bills, 60 human rights and non-discrimination bills, 21 ethics reform bills, 15 gun control and 6 veterans affairs bills.

His first year in the U.S. Senate, he authored 152 bills and co-sponsored another 427. These included the Coburn/Obama Government Transparency Act of 2006 which is now law.
The Lugar/Obama Nuclear Non-proliferation and Conventional Weapons
                  Threat Reduction Act - law
The Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act, passed the Senate,
The 2007 Government Ethics Bill - now law
The Protection Against Excessive Executive Compensation Bill

In all, since entering the U.S. Senate, Obama has written 890 bills and co-sponsored 1096. An impressive record for someone who has no record or experience according to several of the nutty Hills fanatics and McTransferees.

Oh and for ???lobby??? concerns :

S.AMDT.41 to S.1 To require lobbyists to disclose the candidates, leadership PACs, or political parties for whom they collect or arrange contributions, and the aggregate amount of the contributions collected or arranged.
Sponsor: Sen Obama, Barack [IL] (introduced 1/11/2007) Cosponsors (1)
Latest Major Action: 1/18/2007 Senate amendment agreed to. Status: Amendment SA 41 agreed to in Senate by Unanimous Consent.

                  He's a talker, a doer and a closer.
And he didn???t need to call his wife names while doing it.

                • Posted By: Nins @ 06/10/2008 7:39:30 PM

Peter, have you ever heard that old saying "Know your enemy?"

You really have to read Obama's book Audacity of Hope. That way, when you criticize him you will sound intelligent an well informed, instead of like a dufus name caller who happens to know some big words.

I have read McCain's three books, and several other books written about him, pro and con. I have listened to McCain's speeches on YouTube. And I did this BEFORE I had decided who to vote for. I also did it for Clinton and for Huckabee.

Now, if you had bothered to do your duty as a citizen and educate yourself about the candidates, you would know that Obama majored in International Relations at Columbia University. This Ivy league school requires exceptionally high SAT scores, higher even than those needed to get in to MIT. And Obama graduated with highest honors, which means he was in the top one percent of the approximately 5,000 students who attend Columbia, all of whom have higher SAT scores than MIT students. Very, very smart competition.

At Harvard Law School, Obama was number one in his class, with the highest GPA of any student there, all of whom were at the top of their classes in college. It is a huge honor to be named as an editor to the Harvard Law Review. Barack was not only an editor, but also President of the Review, the first time in history that any black had been so honored. The Law Review choses its editors based on GPA, writing skills, social skills and attributes that the faculty believe will lead to being top lawyers and lawmakers. The jewel in the crown of the Presidency goes to the student who has all of those qualities, plus outstanding leadership skills.

Obama is considered a Constitutional scholar because he was a Professor of Constitutional Law at the University of Chicago law School, which ranks number four on the Gorman Report which ranks law schools. (Harvard ranks number one.) Part of being a professor is being a scholar. The University of Chicago is a "publish or perish" institution, so Obama has written at length as a Constitutional scholar.

Now that I've answered your baseless assertions about the veracity of Obama's credentials, let's turn our attention to John McCain, shall we?

Of cadets in his class of 899 at Annapolis, John McCain ranked 894. That's just about last, and certainly a grade of F, being in the lowest one percent of his peers.

I come from a Navy family, and Annapolis rank is everything when it comes to career advancement. Even though his father and grandfather had been four star Admirals, McCain would have not even been accepted as a Naval officer upon graduation. He flunked out. If it weren't for the fact that we were at war with Vietnam and needed warm bodies, McCain never would have gotten in.

So, if I were a McCain supporter, I would NEVER bring up the subject of education. It makes your guy look very, very bad.

The surge HAS been successful in that it minimized US casualties. Obama HAS acknowledged that. His argument is that it has NOT made the territory governable. How many more surges are we going to need to win this war? With that being unanswered, along w/ the lie that led us to war, on top of the financial CANCER that this war has become......it's a pretty GODDAMN good argument!!! The Sunnis, the Shiites, the Kurds, and anti-US sentiment in this region of the world will NEVER allow itself to be led by a US-backed government!!!!

I am not a McCain Voter, and I am not an Obama voter; nor a Bob Barr voter. None of these yet, cuz I will vote in the fall one way or another. But I have been seeing alot of dissing (dishonoring) of John McCain about him being a war hero. Not by every Obama voter, but some who gone out of their way to go the Swift-boating route of a US veteran. This is very sad. For anyone that wants to learn FACTs about John McCains military record, please read this:

There is nothing more unsettling to me than another party swift-boating a POW to the degree I have been seeing by Obama supporters.

Do you have a source (e.g. URL) as to where you heard that about John Kerry? I havent found anything about him turning on McCain, but I did find a confirmation online of McCain's defense of John Kerry when his service in armed forces were attacked:

      San Francisco Chronicle
      VETS GROUP ATTACKS KERRY:
      McCain Defends Democrat
      Zachary Coile, Chronicle Washington Bureau
      Friday, August 6, 2004

(08-06) 04:00 PDT Washington -- A group of veterans backing President Bush launched a direct attack this week on Democratic nominee John Kerry's war-hero biography by releasing a new TV ad accusing him of lying about his injuries in Vietnam and dishonoring fellow veterans by speaking out against the war.

But the 60-second television commercial, being aired in three battleground states in the presidential race, sparked a furious response Thursday from Republican Sen. John McCain of Arizona, a former Vietnam prisoner of war, who called the ad "dishonest and dishonorable" and urged the White House to condemn it.

I haven't read that yet but if its true, just despicable. McCain defended Kerry against the Swifties.

  • Posted By: Emanuel @ 06/12/2008 3:34:13 PM

McCain's poll numbers are only going to get worse from here.

That being the case, we're all waiting for the Republican smear season to begin. If these inevitable smears don't catch on, then they will probably backfire and McCain's poll numbers will drop to Bushlike levels.

Evangelicals hate McCain because there is nothing spiritual about him at all. If evangelicals don't vote for Obama, then they won't vote. McCain does not have a spiritual vocabulary. Obama is very skilled talking about redemption, forgiveness, non-judgment, and hope. McCain is skilled talking about tanks and bombs.

This is why McCain went after John Hagee so agressively even though he knew darn well that Hagee made those controversial comments vs. Catholics, Women, and Jews.

The Republicans will not have an energized base in November.

The Democrats will be highly energized, organized and unified.

    Game over.

    • Posted By: Nins @ 06/13/2008 12:29:19 AM

Not only that, in the 90s McCain called Jerry Falwell "an agent of intolerance" but just 18 months ago was on stage hugging Jerry Falwell, pandering to his church members. Trust me, Falwell's racist and homophobic style of hate based "Christianity" had not changed. What had changed was that McCain saw that if he wanted to win the Presidency, he would have to look good to the right wing conservatives. So he got in bed with Falwell and Hagee. (Now there's an odious image.)

You are right, it is game over for the Republicans. Even Republicans are sick of the Republicans (and that includes me).

Just like to share a letter that I wrote to my sister a few months ago. General thoughts:

    Hi sis,

    That's a great family valued website: (http://www.citizenlink.org/clcommentary/A000004350.cfm?eafref=1.)

They obviously cover all the hot issues of the day and that's good. But just like I've been telling everybody else, it's very important to listen objectively to the opposing or other side of any issue/debate so that at the end of the day you can make an informed decision. Most of us like to cherry pick what we read or hear. It's a lot easier to side with our OWN side. It takes more time and effort to hear all sides, but I really feel that it's important so that an individual is not swayed by target specific propaganda. The truth is most of the political candidates that I vote for these days don't necessarily share ALL my values and/or beliefs. I try to look at the overall big picture and vote for the candidate or important issues that would benefit the majority of Americans???not just me.

Forgive me if it sounds like I'm preaching a bit here, but as I get older, I think what bothers me most is "HYPOCRISY." I think that we've all been guilty of it at some point in our lives. I think even you (a good Christian woman) would agree with me on this point: you have people---such as the people in the current administration---that say one thing, but do the exact opposite. In other words, they talk-the-talk, but don't walk-the-walk. The current administration likes to preach about good Christian values, but arguably, they'll probably go down in history as one of the most corrupt administrations in history. Sad!

They've been plagued with one scandal after another. Heck, GW is going to end up making good ol' Slick Willie (Wild Bill) and Monica Lewd-winski look like angels. But what bothers me most about this administration is that they always fall back on the same ol' BS response when they start to take some heat:

"Just the same ol' liberals (aka Democrats) attacking our faith." As you know, that's not always the case.

The bottom line is I don't care who one is, if one crosses the ethical and/or moral line or breaks the law in anyway, shape, or form, that person needs to face the consequences. Nobody's above the law. Period. Anyway, with all the covert evilness that's going on in the world, it has made me realize just how important my religion is. Sadly, there are a whole lot wolves out there dressed in sheep's clothing. It's downright scary.

"Everybody" needs to pray for this great country! GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!

No worries for the GOP...yet. Reagan was down 17 points against Carter in June when he ran. Bush was down 10 points against Kerry in June when he ran. Its also very normal for Obama to be leading at this time as he just wrapped up the nomination. In fact, all the GOP presidents has been behind during mos to the general election polls until they win at the end :) I think its just that GOP voters are not into polling or allowing their personal info to get into polling databases.

I agree that would be a great choice for McCain't and isn't able to Govern" as his running mate.

The conventional wisdom about Jindal being a reform-minded politician is not without opportunities for Democrats to challenge, should he become McCain's choice for the veep slot. The fact that Jindal's second-highest paid campaign staffer turned out to be an energy lobbyist might not be the best issue for a presidential candidate who is fighting a "perception problem" on the very same issue. Also, Jindal has agreed to pay a $2,500 fine in order to avoid an ethics hearing due to his failure to accurately report over $118,000 worth of in-kind contributions from the state GOP.

This part of an interview with McCain on Roe vs. Wade in 1999

Concerned if women undergo illegal dangerous operations
Q: In 1999, you said, "In the short term, or even the long term, I would not support repeal of Roe vs. Wade, which would then force X number of women in American to undergo illegal and dangerous operations."
A: That was in the context of conversation about having to change the culture of America as regards to this issue. I have stated time after time after time that Roe v. Wade was a bad decision, that I support the rights of the unborn.

Q: If Roe v. Wade was overturned during a McCain presidency, and individual states chose to ban abortion, would you be concerned that, as you said, X number of women in America would undergo illegal and dangerous operations?

A: No, I would hope that X women in America would bring those children into life in this world, and that I could do whatever I could to assist them. Again, that conversation from 1999, so often quoted, was in the context of my concerns about changing the culture in America to understand the importance of the rights of the unborn.

    Here is the link: http://www.issues2000.org/2008/John_McCain_Abortion.htm

    • Posted By: Nins @ 06/12/2008 12:18:17 PM

John McCain says he would "do whatever he can to assist them," meaning unwed mothers and other women with unwanted children. Oh, really? Would McCain start a huge taxpayer drain supporting unwed mothers who would have had abortions, but since they were now illegal, have unwanted children that they don't have the desire nor the emotional maturity to raise? Let's see, they and their offspring would need food, housing, medical care, family therapy, education, a car, and some job training. And since birth control os so immoral, they would obviously have to keep having babies.

But just think, we the people would get our pound of flesh. We could demand that all those babies become drafted soldiers, and put them on the battlefield to fight the GOP's oil wars. Then, since they would have a huge mortality rate, we would save on Social Security!

WORSE by far than any welfare state on the planet.

Oh, I forgot, that's pretty close to what we are doing already, even with abortion being legal.

Bush wants to let workers born after 1950 divert a portion of their payroll taxes into individual, privately managed retirement accounts invested in stocks and bonds. In return, workers would have to accept a cut in the traditional Social Security benefit.

Obama is considered a Constitutional scholar because he was a Professor of Constitutional Law at the University of Chicago Law School, which ranks number four on the Gorman Report ranking law schools.

Of 899 cadets in his class at Annapolis, John McCain ranked 894.

HILLARY SUPPORTERS: Just thought I'd bring you up to date on a new Documentary being made about the OBAMAs (Barack and Michelle) and Barack's political record and his and Michelle's background in general that will be coming out in the fall. The people creating this documentary about the Obamas are the same ones that made a documentary released in January about Hillary Clinton I hear. One of the names I have who is involved is creating this documentary is David Bossie. You can google him. He has said that given the MainStreamMedia has gone out of their way of NOT vetting Obama that they were creating a documentary that will present all US citizens with hard facts about Obama and his political and personal life along the way to making it to where he is now, running for US President. They have said that it will not be based on innuendos and that what they document will be supported with facts. So that is good. Maybe this will give us what we need which is answers to alot of questions a good many 18 million people have about questions about his life that have not been thoroughly answered for many people that fall into the segment not comfortable for voting for Barack Obama. It should be interesting as it is supposed to be THE FACTS with PROVEN resources and not a smear campaign. Maybe this will put our fears to rest about Obama in the fall. Or maybe it might reinforce many concerns that this segment of voters have about him. Guess we will see when this documentary comes out in Sept/Oct timeframe. Just thought you might want to be aware of this.

Comment: IMPORTANT BULLETIN FOR ALL BLOGGERS ON THIS SITE:

    TO NEWSWEEK STAFF:

This is to report that there is a FRAUD going on, on this site, in which bloggers are using the names of various bloggers (Obama supporters are most likely the culprits) who are fraudulently writing blogs that are deplorable and tagging them under other bloggers names (non-Obama supporters names). I officially reported such a fraudulent abusive use of fake postings that I just viewed on this site today that affected me personally. This is what it said in which the blogger fraudulently used my name as the poster:

IT SAID THIS. I NEVER WROTE THIS. SO ALL OTHER POSTERS, ESPECIALLY FORMER HILLARY SUPPORTERS, BEWARE:

At this point I am ready to bring this abusive process that you are using on your site to FOX NEWS as I have done this before and they are very responsive. I have copied this report to send onto the media if I dont see a stop to the smearing of my name or others on this site moving forward!

OBAMA supporters are the most likely culprits????? Give me a break! I see many anti-Obama comments that are clearly made by the same person under different names. Also, I guarantee that I never use any name but this.

Hi Summer. I originally replied to the O Team telling them that they are probably a Republican under sisguise. And I wrote it off after that. Been then as time went on with no Obama supporters responding to maybe support me from this "repub in disguise' , I though, I re-thought my thinking.

        • Posted By: Nins @ 06/12/2008 12:41:42 PM

Sharenews, in order for this to be true (that no Obama supporters wrote to back up your claim that "O Team" was a Republican in disguise proves that the Obama supporters are all frauds), then ALL of the pro-Obama supporters on this website would have to know each other and decide together not to answer your post. And assuming this vast conspiracy, don't you think that they would have decided to support your comment, rather than ignore it? I know that you are upset that someone used your name, but this doesn't make sense. Probably your comment was either overlooked, or whoever read it thought that you had done a good enough job and had nothing to add.

I can say that I do not know the identities of any of the people on this site, and I want to keep it that way. I don't even want to know any of the other Obama supporters. I don't mind blogging for my candidate, but I don't want to have a virtual social life.

    • Posted By: Nins @ 06/12/2008 12:33:13 PM

Sharenews, this is terrible, but I don't get it. Does Newsweek actually allow different people to post under the same user name? If so, they really should change it, and I will write to tell them so.

Also, I'm not sure why you would think an Obama supporter would have done the post you used as your example. Why would an Obama supporter snidely ask "Why do so many Obama supporters make him out to be a Messiah?" That sounds more like a McCain supporter to me.

I have to agree with the woman who says that she only posts under her one name. Ditto that for me. And as far as I know, no one else is using my name, but if it seems like someone is, please let me know.

And now I'm confused as to whether or not it is you posting... lately you have said some things I actually agreed with (OMG!). Was it really you, or not? And when you said that you were considering voting for Obama, but "I'm not there yet," was that you? And if it was you, were you serious or cynical?

If you were serious, my offer to throw you a party still stands!

Sen. John McCain is praising the recent wave of pro-illegal immigration demonstrations, saying that if the protesters hang tough they will succeed in forcing Congress to liberalize immigration laws.

"If such demonstrations continue, I think we will have a bill for the President to sign soon," the Arizona Republican told a New York City gathering on Friday sponsored by the Irish Lobby for Immigration Reform.

"The more debate, the more demonstrations, the more likely we will prevail," McCain added, in quotes picked up by the New York Daily News.

Author: McCain Called Wife ***, Trollop
In his book The Real McCain, author Cliff Schecter claims that John McCain made extremely ugly remarks about his wife Cindy McCain during a tirade witnessed by three reporters and two aides. "At one point, Cindy playfully twirled McCain's hair and said, 'You're getting a little thin up there,'" Schechter writes. "McCain's face reddened, and he responded, 'At least I don't plaster on the makeup like a trollop, you ***.' McCain's excuse was that it had been a long day. If elected president of the United States, McCain would have many long days

Now this kinda "Tabloid-Trash" will have absolutely no bearing on how I vote! If I want to read crap like this, I'd go pick-up the latest edition of the Nat. Enq'r or St*r Mag.

Dear Concerned, I agree with you that this has the "tabloid trash" tone, but actually, the lowbrow offensiveness of it is exactly the point, the fact that in this instance McCain was acting like that. There were three reporters in the room (as well as many other people), the incident is well documented and really did occur. I agree with you that it is odious and prurient. But I don't agree with you that it is irrelevant.

I have lost respect for McCain over this.
