"NEWSWEEK: Sir, Senator Obama is a hugely gifted politician. This is a brutal year on a clinical level for any Republican to be running.
    McCain: Umhmm."

Wow, show a little more bias there, Holly and Jon.

If they had to pick a Republican at least they picked the one who has the best chance to beat the democrats this fall. At least that is how I look at it as an Independent.

      • Posted By: Nins @ 06/12/2008 11:57:54 AM

Actually, Share, I think that Romney would have been more likely to beat the Dems, provided that he learned how to package his message better. He wasn't properly "handled" on the campaign trail, and didn't come across as well as he could have, plus he had less name recognition than McCain. But the guy is a great administrator, has actually run a government (neither McCain nor Obama has) and he appears much more even tempered and Presidential than McCain, who has the personality of a cranky old man.

If the GOP didn't use "winner take all" in the primaries, Romney would have had a chance.

        But whatever, it's over now.

I think the sickest thing about American politics isn't politicians, it's the American public.

We would NEVER ELECT a politician with the balls or the ovaries to be honest with us.

Can't you hear an honest political speech?

    Americans,

Our economy sucks, and it isn't going to get better in a hurry. Gas is over $4 a gallon, and it ain't going to get lower, possibly EVER.

Entitlement programs are running our budget into the ground, but the alternative is 30 million homeless old people, and bodies in the streets from lack of Medicare and Medicaid. So what are we going to do? Oh, and it IS going broke.

And the war is really stupid, but Bush was right, it DID distract you from what???s going on with budgets and trade deficits, and corruption that isn't really THAT uncommonjust a little more blatant. But it???s a war we can???t afford, we're borrowing money from China right now to pay for it. BTW that's why the President can't even think of offending the Chinese at the Olympics, they own us.

You don't even want to know how much all the wounded vets are going to cost us over the next 3 decades.

We're completely dependent on foreign oil, and bio-diesel isn't the answer because it's raising food costs, and costs more to produce than gasoline, because it takes gasoline to grow the crops and harvest them, and then the processing....

We don't have the money to soak the costs of wind and solar for the initial 7 year pay back period just for the equipment. It would work, in the long run, but no one wants to pay for it, and then environmental groups keep saying "go green" but "not here" and "not there"

We could go nuclear, and that would solve a lot of it, France has, Japan has, and they don't have a lot of problems. The technology has come a long way since three mile island and it's pretty safe now. But, NO, you people won't hear of it...eek radiation..eek nuclear waste. NIMBY. So that solution is out.

So we're screwed and get used to the rolling blackouts, or a lot of air pollution and drilling in ANWR.

And the same goes for a lot of manufacturing, no money to invest in super-clean technology, and no way to make businesses pay for it. If we legislate it they will go..overseas where there aren't so many rules and standards. But then, there is no way we can manufacture anything in America at American wages and to American standards that's even near the price of the same thing at Wal-Mart, and since you all shop at Wal-Mart, we're screwed on this too.

But we're free traders, and we have to be, or every farmer and tech company in America goes under.

We can amend our trade agreements with more worker protections.. but since the whole world hates us for being jerks and ignoring the U.N. in order to start a war in Iraq and we owe all of those countries money that we can't afford for them to ask for. So we have to play nice and keep losing money, or they'll call in the debts and it'll be a depression.

    Thank You America !

OMG! I think this is the second time this week that I actually agree with a democrat. You actually summed up America's biggest woes in less than a page. GOOD JOB! And I mean that sincerely!

I like to joke and clown around a lot on these blogs, but when I spot a man or woman that really gets it---I mean really gets it---I gotta send praise his/her way.

I would like for all of the YOUNG BLOGGERS here to read your post, understand it, so they'll know how our government really works. BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY, HOW OR WHY IT DOESN'T WORK AS IT SHOULD. Thanks for a great post Vail!!!!

      • Posted By: Concerned Ctzn @ 06/12/2008 10:57:48 AM

I'd just like to add a few things:

You forgot to mention that the Saudi's own a huge chunk of America too. And soon to own even more! Get ready for some major changes in the financial sector. Bank of America will ultimately change its name to Bank of Saudi-America. Other banks may be named: Bank of Dubai, Bank of Arab Emirates, Bank of ChinaAmerica ??? you get the picture.

Guess who???s traveling the Middle East right now attempting to sell more bits and pieces of our broken financial sector to the highest bidder? Who's got the answer?

        2. Maybe I'm getting a little too cynical in my old age, but is there really such a thing as an honest politician? I mean really? If you really think about it, the system isn't set-up to produce honest politicians. The "I'll scratch your back now ... if you scratch my back later" mentality lends itself to inevitable political corruption. I'll try to elaborate on this subject later.

        3. The good news is I think America is being prepped for an exciting new era of Green Technology. Regardless of who gets elected this November, AMERICA IS GOING GREEN with a vengeance! Why? Because it's the right time! Government will provide significant Tax Breaks/Subsidies to Big Corps that invest heavily in Green Tech R&D. Bottom line is the new Green Craze will create a whole poop load of jobs (that's good!), a HOT new investment sector will evolve, AND last but certainly not least ...

We'll finally be taking positive steps (action) to control or combat the negative effects of Global Climate Change. Hooray!!!!!!

        God Bless America!!!

this guy isn't even trusted by the Right Wing hard liners he was thrown out of Washington by them during Newt's time.

No one except people who are already not going to vote for Barack Obama and a few other dim wits will pay attention to this tainted peddling of bullshit. And this is not news it has been on the wires for quite some time.

And as far as vetting Barack Obama its is already in books and all over the web and in the public domain in the public records for every one who wants to take the time to research it. (Unlike Johnnie Midnights whos public records where sealed from the public eye) But that would take time and effert so i can see where some who let everyone else do their homework for them would find this beneficial. This is the information age and DocuDramas such as this will basically be laughed at by those who do actually use the information age as it is to be used.

Obama is gaining a slight lead among women voters, they are starting to see what his stance really is regarding women right's, it was only a matter of time.
Sorry McCain, us women and the women before us have worked hard to earn equal pay, and have a right to choose, OBAMA 08'

    Oh happy day!!!!!!!!!!

Today's Gallup - "Since Hillary Clinton decided to concede the Democratic nomination to Barack Obama last week, Obama has established a lead over Republican John McCain in general-election polling. Obama's gains have come more from women than men, though he has picked up among both groups in recent days.
Obama's lead among women has now expanded from five percentage points to 13."

    Wait guys, it gets better..........

"One of Clinton's core groups of supporters during the nomination phase of the campaign was older women. During the last few days of her active candidacy, Clinton led McCain by 51% to 41% among women aged 50 and older, while Obama trailed McCain among this group, 46% to 43%.

Since Clinton suspended her campaign, older women's vote preferences have shifted toward Obama, so that he now enjoys a six-point advantage over McCain."

Oh happy day!!!!!! The TRAITOR, CROOK, FRAUD, WOMANIZER is slowly dying!!!

Yeah nothing like back stabbing strait talking making policy. Typical Right Wing hard liners retoric cr@p just to win votes and then we will just scew you. LWOL

Now that Joe Lieberman has emerged as John McCain's lead attack dog against Barack Obama -- even going so far as to suggest that Obama's judgment could pose a danger to our safety -- there's some very interesting behind-the-scenes back-story to the Lieberman-Obama relationship that you should know about.

Specifically, a top official on Joe Lieberman's 2006 Senate reelection campaign tells me that Lieberman's staff practically begged Barack Obama to come in and endorse him at a critical moment -- requests that Obama agreed to, helping Lieberman minimize the damage from challenger Ned Lamont's recent entry into the contest.

This back-story is particularly relevant right now in light of Lieberman's harsh assaults on Obama's national security credentials.

The top Lieberman official, who was directly involved in securing Obama's help, tells me that the campaign was desperate for Obama to come to Connecticut in March of 2006, soon after Lamont entered the race.

"We needed him to strongly validate us as a candidate that liberal Democrats should not desert," the official tells me. "We went to the Obama operation with a very urgent plea for him to come out for us."

It's well known that Obama's 2006 endorsement was important. But it's not widely understood just how urgently the Lieberman people begged for Obama's help at a critical moment in Lieberman's career -- and in that light, just how much of a back-stabbing Lieberman's attacks on Obama now represent.

In response to the Lieberman camp's pleas for help, Obama subsequently endorsed him at a dinner of Connecticut Democrats later that month.

"I am absolutely certain Connecticut is going to have the good sense to send Joe Lieberman back to the U.S. Senate so he can continue to serve on our behalf," Obama said at the time.

"It was a favor as huge as we could have gotten -- it was like a drowning man getting thrown a life preserver," the Lieberman official continued.

Hey Driver, I don't think I've ever agree with you on anything, but as a Moderate Independent (that leans to the right - not "wright"), I must say there's something about Joe Lib that makes me a little uneasy. I can't put a finger on it; he just seems too secretive about his ways. It seems like he has a hidden agenda regarding Israel.

Probably just fears that if BO is elected he won't do enough to protect Israel. But I think that there's more to it than just that.

Pia, HUACHUCA is a mouth-breathing card carrying 23%er. He hasn't taken a single breath through his nose since birth. He thinks the Hussien remarks are intellegent. He's been in the Army, according to him, for 16 years. He was finally promoted to Ignoramus 1st class this year right after he switched to McCain.

        "MCCAIN IS A TRAITOR"

CNN did a piece on McCain where he admitted giving the N. Vietnamese strategic points of U.S. soldiers. In return, he received favorable treatment from his captors.

Google- "POWs against John McCain" or,
        -http://www.vvof.org/mccain_hides.htm or,
        -http://www.usvetdsp.com/smith_mc.htm or,
        - http://educate-yourself.org/cn/earlhopperinterview08feb08.shtml

Hua, as a man who served in the Armed Forces, how could you support this man?

        • Posted By: Huachuca @ 06/10/2008 4:06:35 PM

Well Kboogie, if I was tortured for over 2000 days I can't say what I would do. There are many that were P.O.W.'s with McCain that don't spin the crap you are reading. Just because a few disgruntled Vietmam vets spew their obvious hate at him doesn't make it true does it? McCain supporters are supposed to believe every thing Hussein says, yet we are supposed to hate a REAL AMERICAN HERO? You have NEVER served a day Kboogie, or you wouldn't throw this traitor stuff around so loosly.
Google Jane Fonda and read about what she did to P.O.W.'s if you want to see what a traitor consist of.

Spin? C'mon Hua...I gave you 5 sources you can research. He admitted to this in a CNN report. There are government documents, transripts of his cooperation w/ the N. Vitenamese. An honorable man DIES for his country, not betrays it. If this had been anyone other than McCain, this info would not have been hidden for so long. It pays to have a father and grandfather as Naval Officers. It would've disgraced the family name.

As for serving in the Armed Forces...Hell nah!! Are you crazy?!?!? Under this government? I'd rather die fighting against this governments oppressive policies. Now that's honor. And, I wouldn't think twice about it.

            And, Jane Fonda...who's that?

Kboogie, I do not agree with Huachuca's ideals or politics. But, those "sources" you listed are not very reputable ones. Since you are not willing to serve in the Military and have an obvious disdain for us that do. You have NO RIGHT to decide who has served honorably or not, that is for us veterans to decide. Until you are willing to join the miltary and experience the hardships that we have to endure on a daily basis, why don't you just shut the hell up and enjoy the freedoms that others have secured for you.

the story on the website http://www.usvetdsp.com/smith_mc.htm talks about how two soldiers were POWs, and were given parole by the North Vietnamese. This is a violation of the Code of conduct which states. "I will accept neither parole nor special favors from the enemy." So, they were probably dealt with accordingly. Articale six of the code of conduct, the one they are accusing McCain of violating states. "When questioned, should I become a prisoner of war, I am required to give name, rank, service number, and date of birth. I will evade answering further questions to the utmost of my ability. I will make no oral or written statements disloyal to my country and its allies or harmful to their cause." The key to this article is "to the utmost of my ability." The article states that John McCain "purportedly admits to having bombed civilian targets in North Vietnam and praises medical treatment he has received since being taken prisoner." This is not hardly disloyal. The article further states "Even though there are no reports in the public record from other POWs who witnessed McCain's claims of torture and heroics or his attempted suicide, the American media has accepted his version of events word for word, no questions asked." That doesn't indicate that McCain was not tortured either. These "swift boat" tactics that are used in todays politics are vile and disgusting.

I do not like McCain because of his policies, not because someone said he was a coward. If you are an Obama supporter then stop spreading this crap because you are NOT helping him.

I don't like him because he's a coward, and because of his policies. If your rationalization serves your conscience, then more power to ya. But the majority of the folks who read this article will scream, "TRAITOR".

If your claims are one hundred percent true I still submit to you John Mccain is a hero. To buckle under that kind of pressure is only human and for you to attack him as a coward makes you less of a man. Lets all take a moment and put our selves in the situation. You are severely injured mal nurished subject to routine beatings and everyday a man comes in and shows you a picture of a blown up school with dead children strewn about everyday the man says you killed these children and that is why we punish youl Everyday he says you can be forgiven all you have to do is admit to me taht you bombed that school and we will stop hitting you and give you some water. After a year things may get a little hazy after 5 years who knows what you would do. MCcain is not a coward and you my friend should be disgusted with yoursefl for even suggesting the possability.

Did John McCain betray US in Vietnam?
In his book, the Arizona Senator repeatedly expresses guilt and disgrace at having broken under torture and given the North Vietnamese a taped confession, broadcast over the camp loudspeakers, saying he was a war criminal who had, among other acts, bombed a school. "I felt faithless and couldn't control my despair," he writes. He writes, revealing that he made two half-hearted attempts at suicide. Most tellingly, he said he lived in "dread" that his father would find out. "I still wince," he says, "when I recall wondering if my father had heard of my disgrace."

Like most voters, I call it like I see it.....after tons of research, also. "A TRAITOR"

I have read her postings and I also admonished her as well. Since you stated that you have 16 years in the Army, it is safe to assume that you are either an Officer or NCO and you know that degrading someone is not a way to make a point. If you are an NCO, you know that the NCO creed states "No one is more professional than I." And as I am a NCO I will not allow you to forget that we are professionals. When you resort to personally degrading someone, than you lose some of your professionalism.

I have a very simple question for Senator McCain. Do you, Senator McCain believe that a Black man will ever have the necessary qualifications to lead the USA?

    • Posted By: kunpether @ 06/09/2008 7:07:42 PM

Obama will lose not because of the color of his skin but because he is too far to the left in a center-right country. America will elect a black president, but not a socialist one. And the more Obama's supporters accuse as racists those who question his experience and policies, the greater will be his loss.

      • Posted By: AUSTENESPER @ 06/09/2008 7:23:06 PM

BUT ISNT OBAMA JUST AS MUCH BLACK AS HE IS WHITE. AFTERALL HE IS THE NATURAL SON OF A WHITE WOMAN .

        • Posted By: Huachuca @ 06/10/2008 8:20:46 AM

AUSTIN - Yes he is, but he threw his white relatives under the bus along time ago, remember? He might pull them out a little this fall though. He was the one saying "African American" instead of Bi-racial.
          Weird.

Mr. H, O's white grandmother told her young grandson that she was afraid of black men. What an irresponsible thing to say to a young boy! Who threw who under the bus?

            • Posted By: onepoker @ 06/10/2008 1:07:59 PM

Is that throwing him under the bus or is that preparing him for life. Grandma's deserve our respect even when they don't adhere to political correctness.

            • Posted By: Huachuca @ 06/10/2008 3:10:11 PM

Pia - back then, Grandma had good reason to feel this way. Blacks quickly forget this part of their "history".
If they were burning down their neighborhoods, what do you think they thought of whites?

I'm guessing a force comparable to Bosnia or Kosovo in approx 5-8 years. There is alot of work to be done, while your sitting in your lazyboy. I know its hard for people back home to consider raising their right hand since less than 1% of the country has been willing to do it, but Its getting better and who cares why we r here just know that we are and we need to finish what we started.

Amen Brother. Why don't the same people that question how long we are in Iraq question how long we have been in South Korean (over 50 years). The answer is that Iraq is simply a political talking point for them to win an election. While you sweat blood to create a long-term anchor for peace in the Middle East and offer an alternative to joining the jihad against the West, those on the Left continue to call for the short-term "change in direction," i.e., exit. And these people want to control our foreign policy? Scary stuff.

This war is costing the USA considerable debt. Guess what , the Chinese who are not commiting its armed forces to the effort and who for that instance share the same continent are now investing heavily in USA debt, What is going to happen when they call in that debt and can the economy healthfully respond?

Have you seen the interest rate we are getting on that debt? Cheap money is the secret to success.

I struggle to understand the hullabaloo over Mr. Obama. As a black person living in America , I personally think it is a disgrace that folks rush to elevate a man who was complicit in the self-destruction of the black community. For 20 years he sat by and allowed trusting black folks to wallow in the self-defeatism dished out by Rev. Wright. This is the same defeatist thought that is echoed through the African-American community today. Where was the message of "HOPE & CHANGE"? Where was the "YES WE CAN" cry when it was needed most? Who better to transform that backward thinking group than someone unscathed by the 60s? Just think what could have been if Mr. Obama had shown a modicum of leadership (or at the very least walked away). But he did absolutely nothing! Just thinking of his non-action send chills through my bones and evokes a wellspring of sadness that will never be assuaged.

I am even more grateful today that I was blessed with parents whose vision have long transcended race. Failing that, I and siblings could have easily been among the causalities of the missteps and missed opportunities that were there for the taking after the Civil Rights era. The selfless action by M art in Luther who paid the ultimate price is who should be lauded as being a hero "for all of us that have dreams and hope". That is, he did what was right without a single thought of the personal gains (or harm) to himself.

Finally, I would challenge every voter this November to think well on this and ask yourself if you could with a clear conscience give this man a pass - NO I CAN'T. For we become who we are by the folks we look to as heroes.

Obama used Wright as a springboard into political office. Maybe Obama wasn't lying when he said that he never heard any of it before because maybe Obama never really cared about or though much of Wright to begin with, just used Wright for political gain. Either way, No change there and Obama is still a hypocrite.

I'm glad more and more blacks like you are coming out with a voice of reason. Maybe when enough of you, start to question Obama and his empty rhetoric, the media and Obama supporters will start to realize that people actually can not like Obama and not be racist.

That speech was good enough to calm the fears Americans had about Obama blindly following Wright. That speech was damn good. A LOT BETTER than the clap trap that you post, LMAO.

    • Posted By: mcleodmn @ 06/10/2008 6:38:12 PM

It is impossible to truly know where politicians stand religiously until atheism and agnosticism are accepted as beliefs. I personally believe that most politicians declare a religion because they wouldn't have a chance if they didn't go to church and peldge their devotion to Christianity and the other fear/guilt peddlers. That will be the true separation of church and state, and not a day earlier.

      • Posted By: Zombiehero @ 06/10/2008 8:09:14 PM

I agree with you 100%. I would love to see religion out of politics completely.
Obama's problem is that he tried to wrap himself in religion, then everyone got a taste of what kind of religion now he's trying to back track. I was really appalled by the article on Newsweek where like 100 pastors call in to Obama to pray for him. Talk about a nutjob.

"Kid with asthma, can't even get of breathalyzer, ahh wait, it'S like uhhh, well , uhhh, erruhh, wait, I'll get it ... inhaler ...uhh ... I can hear myself think, JFK speech is not working today. BUT I'M GLAD THAT YOU'RE FIRED UP!"

Kind of told me Obama could not 'wing that speech' cuz it had real issues with solutions in them that he supposedly believes in whole heartedly. That teleprompter going fluky really threw him for a loop. It was captured on video. There are two clips on the left hand side of the page (scan down for the other) at this url: Apparently McCain isn't the only one with some 'oops' issues. LOL.

Apparently McCain did make the BEER gaffe. It's obvious that he was thinking ahead as to what to say and merged the words ' bill' with the word 'ear-' to get the phonetic word being 'beer'. It was a funny gaffe given his wife is a millionairess in the beer industry. :

'I will use the veto as needed. I will veto every single beer ??? bill with earmarks,' he said, as rumblings from the crowd could be heard. "And every single bill that we have come across my desk I will make them famous. I will veto them, you will know their names.'

Democrats propose things and then President Bush's vetoes or threats and with Republican support nothing gets done. Without a 2/3 majority and/or having the presidency, having only a slim majority in congress isn't all that powerful; reference the recent effort to get higher taxes through on the excessive profits made by the oil companies. Also McCain calls Obama the most liberal senator and exaggerates that he will institute higher taxes for everyone, not just for the wealthy and for the corporations who take advantage as Obama states. McCain and the Republicans also accuse the Democrats of being 'big government' and of over spending (neglecting to admit that the Bush administration has outspent, with negligible return, all previous administrations). The reality is that, whether Democrat or Republican, it is necessary to understand that the concentration over the last decade and longer, especially over the last seven plus years, has been on limiting spending to benefit Special Interests and a select few and literally neglecting everything else. If that doesn't change, with Democratic greater spending or whatever, things are only going to get worse: note America's decaying infrastructure and how the poor/middle classes are steadily loosing ground while only the wealthy are gaining. And it is important to see that America doesn???t have a ???trickle down??? economy as some try to sell but rather we have a ???bubble up??? economy where when the poor and especially the middle class are better off, then everyone, the whole economy benefits (in contrast to when the wealthy are better off, it pretty much stays there). That is the reality that is hurting!

What does that have to do with China and India's consumption... America is the only country where it's citizens can own land and mineral rights to oil.. Further more, since other countries own the resources, they subsidize costs and their billions of people can waste freely.. Don't forget.. There is about 300 million poeple in the US and we consume over a quarter of the worlds resources daily.. Gas is not the only reason oil is expensive... China and Indian people are now becoming consumers.. part of the global economy.. how much tupper ware and plastic do you think they use.. Wake up... this is a global issue...

The Communist Democrats who are running this country? What rock do you live under? Bush is a disgrace, and you voted for him twice. You are the reason the country is in this position. I am so tired of people saying bad things about Ted Kennedy. He has dedicated his entire life to serving this country, been in the Senate since 1962! His 3 brothers were either assassinated or died serving the country as well. Your bias makes no sense, it's obvious you are totally misinformed. Only a weak-minded neocon who can't think for himself and wants Rush to tell him what to think would say such a thing.

Ted left his date in the car to drown I guess he had to get home to his wife before the press found out. It takes a lot of good legislation to make up for that.

I am glad that you are so "open minded" and expressing how the Republicans have forfeited their rights to express their opinion. Is this from the Karl Marx playbook? This is one of the very reasons that I have generally voted Republican in Presidential elections. The extreme left kidnapped the Democratic Party in 1972 and all the Dems give us is extremists incompetents. Not that the Republicans always give us great choices but as long as the militant left controls the Dems, I hope that you continue losing elections.

How much will continued occupation cost, for possibly up to "100 years," McCain, still at war or not, especially when warring with Iran will be next? How many troops will be left after the surge returns home in July? You seem to have gotten that mistaken before. And who are the key players - Sunni and Shiite - and waht are their agendas again? The posturing to stand in the streets with hawks and tanks protecting says nothing about the safety there nor the victory of a war won. If Scott McClellan's book is pure propoganda, then why did Powell leave the Bush administration? Obama has no bi-partisan legislation? What was that that he co-sponsored with none other than McCain himself? None other than the "SECURE AMERICA and Orderly Immigration Act," along with a bill also co-sponsored with McCaintargeting climate change to reduce greenhouse gases (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/barack_obama), about nine bills and/or acts that he either amended, sponsored or co-sponsored besides those that he voted in favor of. Is it no wonder that he would remark that McCain "refuses to acknowledge his work," though he honors McCain for his bi-partisan work in the Senate?

    • Posted By: Zombiehero @ 06/10/2008 3:27:20 AM

Since you like to quote sources, maybe you should look over the 100 year in Iraq quote. Maybe you will see that Obama and the DNC are taking it way out of context. The context of the original quote is, 100 years IF and only IF (remember those from logic class?) the region is stable and American deaths are null, like the US is in Korea, Germany, Okinawa, etc.

      • Posted By: sebr01stl @ 06/10/2008 5:22:22 PM

Also, Zombie, if you want fair treatment of your candidate's responses, maybe you should extend the same to ours. Michelle Obma was taken out of context when she claimed to be "REALLY proud for once in her adult life, of her country," knowing full well that REALLY is and important distinction as it doesn't rule out being proud before ever, and that she was speaking of the country's possible willingness to elect a black POTUS; but, that didn't stop you, others like you, and the RNC from running with it, or the Austchwich (sp?)/Buchenwald gaffe or the "57 states" (he was actually in that many American TERRITORIES campaigning) gaffe. Turnabout's fair play, especially when your candidate flip-flops so much. Let's see. Should I pander to the right (base) or stay true to my moderate/maverick, reformist convictions? Must be a b*[@&. After Ayers, Rezko, Wright, Pfleger, Emil Jones, Farrahkanad, et. al., you can best believe that the microscope will be on your I'm-not-Bush, self-defining candidate, since you've chosen to define ours by his past associations with others and smear/fear campaign tactics. Sorry, but this will be bloody.

        • Posted By: Huachuca @ 06/11/2008 6:20:19 AM

seabro - like the song says, if you want blood, you got it.
Hussein has way, way more political blood on his hands than any candidate in history. Even more than Ted.

        • Posted By: Zombiehero @ 06/10/2008 8:21:47 PM

Oh I agree it will be a great campaign and blood will be spilled, its just funny that the Dems did a lot of this to themselves by nominating Barry. He has failed to unite the Dem party, even a Democratic Senator won't endorse him.

        • Posted By: Zombiehero @ 06/10/2008 8:19:08 PM

Michelle Obama can say whatever she wants. I'm not voting for Obama because of what his wife said. I really could care less about Michelle Obama or his Kids. I'm not voting for Obama because of what he has said and what he doesn't say.

      • Posted By: sebr01stl @ 06/10/2008 5:25:21 PM

And what have you got to say for the bi-partisan bills passed between them? That's what I thought.

        • Posted By: Zombiehero @ 06/10/2008 8:23:42 PM

What are you talking about? McCain has more Bills than Barry, i don't think anyone is going to argue that. Of course the partisan bickering over which Bills were "better" will be funny to watch. The Dems will not acknowledge anything that goes against the Democratic vision same with the GOP so they will only be left with Bills naming post offices to squabble about.

      • Posted By: sebr01stl @ 06/10/2008 5:04:41 PM

And maybe you should look at McCain's interview with Brian Williams just this week, or even his position that the war WILL be over by 2013, in his estimation, yet, per Williams' question, he would still send in more troops. Flip-flopping McCain, the truth hurts..

The argument that we cannot leave a war because soldiers have died in it is too flawed to have any traffic at all. Be in a herd of lemmings for just a moment. They run in a herd of thousands and periodically go over a cliff into the sea and die in the water. The ones in the back argue that they must continue because so many have already gone to their deaths ahead of them. Once a lemming or two goes over the cliff, those behind are deprived of any reasons to consider stopping the suicidal madness. That is about as good as the argument that we must stay in Iraq in honor of those who have died there.
Forrest Gump's mama said it best. "Stupid is as stupid does".

    • Posted By: Huachuca @ 06/10/2008 2:40:23 PM

older - Talk about Lemmings, Hussein supporters are diving off that cliff, only on the basis of "change". You all ignore his past and call everyone a liar who questions his past. His Robin Hood approach will only fly with the far left. He has many, many things to prove, and so far hasn't proved anything except he will throw ANYONE under the bus to get POTUS.
Hopefully Rezko and Sinclair will tell us a little more soon.

      • Posted By: sebr01stl @ 06/10/2008 7:55:15 PM

So, Huchuca, should we be referring to John McCain as Sidney now? That makes about as much sense as referring to Barack Obama as "Hussein", unless of course you're trying to make a sublimal message of name association with terrorists! This is a really cheap shot; and getting really old and really transparent really fast. If you can't focus on the strengths of your candidate and the issues, WITHOUT trying to smear ours with innuendo, hate/fear based on LIES, and talk about legitimate weaknesses/flaws in our candidate, with regard to the issues, then you really have no argument, do you? This Rezko thing has nothing to do with Obama's business dealings and you know it. Obama is neither a racist nor a terrorist (and you know that he is not a terrorist, is American, and hardly racist, being bi-racial). I judge you by your own words, not by the words of another. I'll bet you grant your friends and acqauaintances the same respect - this guilt by association sh*t is just that, bs. How many different people has McCain come across over the years, or Hillary for that matter? And many who don't jive with ther messages. McCain was even INVESTIGATED for his associations (Keating 5 Lincoln S&L scandal). Oh, but McCain stands by his own integrity. Then why not Obama? Until you have something to charge him with, that HE said/did that was terrorist or racist, then LAY OFF, or YOU are the racist and the terrorist (terrorism seeks to subjugate others with threats of force/violence - your words are terrorist, unwarranted violence done against Obama's character)! What color was Timothy McVeigh? his religion? He was neither black nor muslim. Grow up!

        • Posted By: Huachuca @ 06/11/2008 6:06:04 AM

Hussein sat in this"church"/married/baptised and raised his kids in this hate spewing piece of sh!t they call a church. Ayers, Rezko, Sinclair, and his ties to extremist groups will not go away seabiscut - and the cool video of micHELLe's thoughts of "whitey" will "help" him also.
7 out of 10 Americans don't like the name Hussein, and I am one of them. And I don't like the little wuss either. sNoozeweak won't post the name I have for him, so I have to use "Hussein".
What kind of "History" do they teach you kids anyway? They should have taught you the truth about Mr. Peanut. Guess your guy wasn't so good at history huh?

The Mc Cains like to charge Obama with a hasty retreat. In fact, as a better commander in chief than the one we now have, he knows how the commander in chief is supposed to function. First, he sets policy. Get out of Iraq. Then, not being a general, same as Bush-not a general, he gives the order to prepare an orderly withdrawal plan, protective of both our troops and the general population, and submit it to the presidency. What Bush has done over and over again, is to try to control what the military does, thinking that this is what a commander in chief president does. The last fiasco was ordering a "Surge". General Petraeus is extremely capable of carrying out the surge and performs magnificently, but the order to do it is flawed. The surge is simply the irritation of a sore with a stick. It knocks the scab off, but it is still infected and it is the wrong medicine.
Those who cavalierly advocate "permanent bases" there as in Japan and Germany do not know the difference between unconditional surrender and perpetual religious conflict. Our facilities are in a fortified enclave in Iraq and would not be safe there otherwise. There is nothing to indicate that this will ever change. The people there do not want us there interfering in their family dispute and they will not quit sniping until we leave.
We got rid of Saddam Hussein. There is nothing sensible left for us to do there.

    • Posted By: onepoker @ 06/10/2008 12:00:05 PM

The surge was very effective its obvious you have no clue about the strategy involved or the reasons for being there. My understanding of the strategy is that it was intended to demonstrate strength to our enemies cut off their points of escape and establish confidence in the rule of law for the iraqi citizens. We have a lot of setbacks to overcome but we are headed in the right direction. Petreaus understands the need to involve the citizenry and treat them with respect something some of our previous generals may have overlooked. by acting forcefully but purposely we demonstrate that we are serious and committed to a free and democratic Iraq we have made in roads with the militias who used to fight against us but some our now our allies. By understanding why they were fighting us and treating them with respect instead of lumping every group into one catagory we can make peace, clarify our demands and build a stronger government. This war will be won and it will be one by us. You and Obama can formutlate your plans of surrender to Mccain if you like but America isn't running from our responsibilities in Iraq.

      • Posted By: jack8590 @ 06/10/2008 12:15:09 PM

I thought this mission was already accomplished. This is a manufactured war - pretense was terrorism but the purpose was to keep Haliburton and Blackwater profitable. Wake up - there is no "war to be won" over there. It's already over and we lost. We lost because we were there for the wrong reasons. The side benefit is we have empowered Iran. Now we have three problems, Iraq, Iran, and Afghanastan. So it's a little difficult for me to buy into the McCain doctrine of "stay the course." Or "the surge is working" or any other catch-phrase he wants to put on it.

OnePOKER spoken like many republicans lemmings. If king george had gone in to iraq with a plan the borders would have been protected but thats right are borders are not protected. Like many other bloggers said give me a list of anything this moron and i mean moron has ever accomplished in his entire life with out daddy bush bailing his sorry but out??????And if you think mccain his any better? You replicans talk about his church, Please tell me what most neocons think about religon. They spew ther twisted versions only and think everybody else should bow to them give me a break. Oh and his vision of a free and democratic in Irag are you kidding me? Theses people have been fighting each other since the dawn of time.Dam near all those muslim countries are ruled either by a king or some supreme religious leader. And if there is an elction most are coruupted. So before you speak show me any example of these so called accomplisments.

That sounds a little racist to me "these people have been fighting each other since the dawn of time" Your Messiah would be very dissapointed in you. As for Iraq In 30 years when you nay sayers are visiting Iraq commenting on all the destruction we did to the country while you walk safely in its streets and admire the new buildings perhaps you will reflect on the sacrifices of those americans who died for the peace and prosperity. maybe when your sitting by the pool at the Bagdad hotel admiring the view of the Tigris river it will occur to you of how different it would of been if we had surrendered and run. Maybe youll find it Ironic that the pool boy Expresses grattitude to you as an American and tells you of his plans to pay for school with his own money he is earning and become a rich buisness owner like his uncle. On that trip you may be fortunate to run into a retired serviceman also on vacation explaining to his now adult children how losing his arm was worth it and showing them with pride why he fought so far from home. I know this isn't your vision of the future and you may think im an idiiot for believing such things but I have faith in our men and women I know what they are striving for and it is achievable. We Will WIin this FIght. Iraq will be free of the oppression of AL Quada the militias will come to our side or they will parish either way Iraq will be free. The world will have one more free country and you hippies will be free to protest until your hearts content in a new land.

Who said run? McCain only plan is to leave our soldiers there, you need to come better than that, when our soldiers suicide rate has climb up 40%. There was hell in Iraq before we got there and here is a pointer for you, there will be hell when we leave, that's no reflection on our efforts, our soldiers have died and will always be respected for there service. BUT ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. HAVE YOU SEEN THERE CONDITIONS OVER THERE, WHY DON'T YOU GO -

Our troops need to come home from Iraq not Alfganistan but IRAQ, this is a bunch of bull from Bush and Cheney's the truth is out they lied over and over again- lied

For that alone we should rethink this war. Obama not only have a better stance on a withdrawl but also a plan to help give relief to working families.
        McBush can't tell me nothing
        OBAMA 08'

        • Posted By: onepoker @ 06/10/2008 4:17:51 PM

Mccains plan is solid He was one of the strongest critics of Rumsfeld and was instrumental in getting Petreaus in command. The surge is more than a simple flexing of muscles it was a deliberate push to remove bad elements from their hiding places force them into the open and destroy them. With every victory we gain respect and more cooperation from the Iraqi people. the reason they respect us isn't because we are a brutal war machine its because after we extricate the bad guys we get the lights on. We get the water running we get food to market. They are beging to learn they can trust us to be fair. We have had some set backs but I think they know we mean well. Our commanders are good people we can out fight the enemy and show also show a level of mercy these people have never seen. Ouor progress with the militias is a direct result of how we treat them when the fights over. They saw us bandage their wounded and noticed when we arrested an innocent person they were freed and returned unmolested once our commanders are sure they are safe. .

Concerned if women undergo illegal dangerous operations
Q: In 1999, you said, "In the short term, or even the long term, I would not support repeal of Roe vs. Wade, which would then force X number of women in American to undergo illegal and dangerous operations."
A: That was in the context of conversation about having to change the culture of America as regards to this issue. I have stated time after time after time that Roe v. Wade was a bad decision, that I support the rights of the unborn.

Q: If Roe v. Wade was overturned during a McCain presidency, and individual states chose to ban abortion, would you be concerned that, as you said, X number of women in America would undergo illegal and dangerous operations?

A: No, I would hope that X women in America would bring those children into life in this world, and that I could do whatever I could to assist them. Again, that conversation from 1999, so often quoted, was in the context of my concerns about changing the culture in America to understand the importance of the rights of the unborn.

Nominate justices based on experience, and values
On the issue of nominating Supreme Court justices based on an abortion litmus-test, ???McCain has said that he will nominate justices based on their experience, and those who share his values,??? said a spokesman.

At least two Supreme Court Justices will be appointed under the next president.
