HRC supporters - it hit me tonight that we can do something constructive to show our displeasure regarding the outcome of the Democratic primaries. Unfortunately, I saw Keith Olbermann say that if Barack loses, it's all Hillary's fault. I was in absolute disbelief. I've sent MSNBC e-mails, etc., but to no avail.

So, here's my idea. Let's set up Operation Payback (Nins - you get credit for the name after thinking I was involved in Operation Chaos). As of today, I've cancelled my subscription to Newsweek and will NEVER watch MSNBC again. My relatives have done the same. If we hit these media outlets who have so mistreated Hillary in the pocketbook, maybe we can at least address some of the anger we're all feeling.

Obama supporters - do us all a favor and stay out of this with putdown comments. I think that this gives HRC supporters something we can do that is constructive and places blame (at least from my perspective) where it is due.

Hillary supporters - what do you think? If we pass this along to our friends, families and post it everywhere, I think we can make a difference. Both to salvage some of the hits Hillary has taken and to make sure that the next female candidate gets treated fairly.

      Hillary was treated fairly.

The REAL reason libs want to keep playing the race card is because it will be much easier to blame race than accept the TRUTH when osamabama LOSES the election. The REAL truth is that the electorate WILL repudiate (reject emphatically, for you illiterate libs) the EXTREME LIBERALISM that spews forth from osamabama! The guy's a FRAUD, a far left wing radical, and a LOSER. When he is REJECTED in November, it will be because of his LIBERALISM, NOT because of his race!

    • Posted By: Nins @ 06/08/2008 12:13:33 PM

Hello, Dear, you have more than a few inaccuracies in you posts. Barack Obama is not an extreme liberal. He is not even a liberal. He is a moderate, and you would know that if you had bothered to read his book Audacity of Hope in which he very extensively discusses his political views. He is the type of person who always sees the big picture and respects other people's views even when he doesn't share them (in contradistinction to you, who repeatedly insults the intelligence of Democrats). An example of Obama's seeing both sides of issues is when the death penalty law came up in Illinois. There were several innocent men on death row, as DNA evidence proved after their original trials. This led to a sweeping (you may say "liberal') movement to abolish the death penalty in Illinois. Law enforcement and criminal justice advocates (you may say "conservatives") wanted to keep the death penalty exactly as it was. Obama worked with both groups (who had no love lost between them), got them to sit down together and hammer out a new law that retained the death penalty, but changed the way in which it was applied.

Calling Obama a "loser" will not make him one, no matter how hard you try, all caps and everything.

I think it is wonderful that you support McCain. How about if you stick to that, and stop bashing everybody who disagrees with you?

I am a democrat and I doubt Obama is moderate. Moderate democrat has been rejected by the liberal wing of democratic party and the force behind is moveOn.org. That is OK. Let's have the truth. Obama's work has been cut out for him.

Facts are facts, Obama was GIVEN major bills to pass in state senate, so that he can show what he had done in state senate to run for U.S, senate. He is an opportunist, which is fine and a political person and he knows how to grap that opportunity when he sees it best suit him.

Obama's nomination has been produced by fraud, sexism, money corruption and a manipulation of the most media press as NBC, CNN and some "gorilla haters" as Major Garrett/Fox ! I am disgusted with Obama, a public detracting clown which wastes one's breath and bla-bla in the air !
I am disgusted with DNC, which was involved in a massive stealing, when the final stage was highlighted by a coward and disgracefully treason of so called "super-delegates" which executed an order received from Dean and Pelosi, the two Skaraosky Kings of so called "the democratic party" . The turning point was done for me, my relatives and friends !We vote for McCain !

It's a shame you uneducated white hard-working American people are going to destroy the future for the up and coming with your out-dated bias. That kind of dumb thinking has been going on all your lives and it has gotten you nowhere. Let your hatred and bias go, so these young people can live in a nice world. You heard they don't like you or your bias. Come to the future you old white woman.

It will never happen. It is very nice that you are young and well educated and can have a great big luxury vote ... but remember ... you only got there because of all the folks who came before you to make it happen. You rich little snobs have no idea what you are in for.

And that's why this country will go to hell! McCain is offering the same crap that the current President is offering which a war that is costing us millions, that also affects our security and our reputation. It is all too apparent that you rather vote for a fool who half the time does not have his facts straight before he gets up to give a speech and who flip flops when he is cornered on a subject that turns out to be controversial...not to mention it has been proven that he is not as strong when dealing with important issues like the economy! And to add insult to injury he does not even want to pass the GI bill and he in a effort of save face would rather continue fighting in a war that we are losing, and continue to use our men and women of the military as "pawns." in his sick idea of being patriotic. Use your head and really do some research before you make a stupid decision...all because you are afraid that a Black man may do a better job.

Did you ever think that ignoring 11 out of 50 states might have had more to do with it then then this consipracy you have dreamt up?
I supported Hillary too, but If you just use your brain you would see why she lost

  • Posted By: vakosh @ 06/09/2008 8:07:33 PM

My own ideas and philosophies .... now that is a loaded question. I never wanted to belong to a party that could do something so horrid and rancid as count out two states and then crown a victor. I had no idea the DNC could do that. It made me for the first time in 25 years take a good hard long look at my party and my beliefs. I began researching alternative ideas and found myself questioning a lot of what I thought I stood for. This election has led me down a path I NEVER expected to take.

  • Posted By: xanabella @ 06/09/2008 10:33:15 AM

    Hey GTX13,

I have one question for you???How could you call yourself a Hillary Clinton supporter? If you really supported her platform, you would never be able to switch to the polar opposites of her ideals, you are simply a hyppocrite, and you should be ashamed that because of your own petty grievances you would sentence more US soldiers to death by supporting a nominee who would continue Bush's illegal war indefinitely.
Your quarrel with the DNC is ridiculous, they didn't "steal" anything, Hillary lost fair and square. The only thing you are accomplishing is making yourself look like a fanatic buffoon, do you really think Hillary would approve?

    • Posted By: News and Notes @ 06/09/2008 3:05:19 PM

By insulting Hillary supporters you hurt Obama and help McCain

      • Posted By: Mimi13 @ 06/09/2008 6:42:50 PM

So, you would vote for McCain -- and presumably against your own ideals and policy choices -- because your feelings are hurt? Does this really make sense to you?

Here's a sample of his ignorant rants from the website. Go look, it is hilarious hillbilly fare.

"Hi folks. My name is Ed Hale and I am life long Democrat till May 31, 2008. When I saw those 30 people break the rules and make their own, and then to vote to take away 4 of Hillary Clinton's delegates, but worst of all, make the uncommitted go for Obama, that was my last straw. What I saw today was what went on in the USSR (Russia) 30 years ago. The Boss's called the shots, and I decide that I did not want any part of them.

They have treated Hillary Clinton worst than I would treat a mad dog. This site is up to get like minded people to join so if they do go ahead and nominate Obama, we will be ready to make sure that he never goes to the White House. If Hillary get the nomination, then I will be leading the charge for her."

Ok, there are alot of the right side of our political parties reading here, lets see if they have the guts to read to the end of the qualifications of Senator Obama.
He is very well educated, he is a constitutional lawyer, both a state and US Senator, so he has good experience while exhibiting good judgement ( against the war in Iraq in the begining), supports tax breaks for the poor and middle income, does not support the Bush Tax breaks for the rich and corporations, will not
let lobbyists to be a part of his campaign, supports womens rights, supports homosexual rights supports our constitution, is against torture, has the newly found respect and support and endorsemant of Hillary Clinton and most of her supporters. Thats 36 million votes to start with.
I think these qualifications hurl him over the presidential threshold and will lead our country from the dark ages of George Bush and John Mccain.

What Hillary did it is just a cosmetically move, just for the "dnc consumers" !

Finally, some sensible reaction to this article. You can really sense the fear coming from those who are lashing out at the idea of an African-American being elected president. These are not the kind of reactions one would read if Obama were blatantly unelectable. These people are threatened by the idea because they know it's possible and that they won't be able to sop it this time. You see, most of this country now has moved into the 21st century with regards to issues of social equality. In fact, race just doesn't seem to be an issue with young voters these days. It exists, know, but only on the same level that Nazis still exist. It's just become almost irrelevent.

No Hillary for VP .... McCain 08 .... Hillary 2012

  • Posted By: brian.reach @ 06/09/2008 3:50:50 PM

Comment: Hillary is the only sensible choice for VP.

John Kerry lost to Bush with 59 million votes. Bush had 62 million votes.

Hillary + Obama in the 2008 Primary: 36 million votes. John Edwards - less than 400,000.

John Kerry in the 2004 Primary: 6.78 million votes
John Edwards in the 2004 Primary: 2.78 million votes

Total Voters in the 2004 Primary: 11.59 million
Total Voters in the 2008 Primary: just under 40 million

If everyone that voted for Obama or Hillary took a friend to the polls, we'd clobber the Republicans.

Hillary on the ticket is a sure win for Democrats. It'll heal the wounds from the Primary, and we'll all stick together.

I want these same angry women to go to the mothers and fathers who lost a loved one to the Iraq war to tell those families that they voted for McCain. Not because they think McCain was the right person to vote for, but because they are bitter because there candidate didn't win. Like children. Then I want them to pack there kids bags because McCain said he would use that option if recruiting is low. So, I hope there kids are ready to go to war. A vote for McCain means more American lives lost.

In November , a new President will be elected. Life will go on as usual. The sun will still rise. People will have to work for a living. Taxes are a fact of life. Death is a fact of life. There will always be terrorists and evil foreign leaders in the world somewhere. The only thing to clarify is who to chose the next President who reflects America. A person thats not connected to extremists or terrorists by the company he keeps. That person is John McCain. Obama doesn't pass this test. His background is not condusive for the character a President of the USA should have.

You mean the fact that he is well educated, does not skip out on the Gis', wants to give tax cuts to the poor and middle class, cap greenhouse gasses, encourage green or alternative energy in policy not just words of the week, is against tortuture, is for womens rights, pro homosexual rights, is a constitutional lawyer, has taught at the University of Chicago, is a active christian, does not call his wife a C(_&^, does not start fights wioth fellow Senators, did not vote with Bush 95% of the time, is against having our children in an occupation of a soverign nation forever.

Concerned Ctzn, are you OUT OF YOUR MIND saying that "W" did nothing to defeat Roe vs. Wade? It has been the stated goal of the religious right to appoint conservative judges to overturn Roe vs. Wade for years. Bush is on board with this plan. Every single judge that Bush appointed to every single Federal bench that came open during his tenure was a right wing Christian conservative. The Democrats were stymied when the GOP controlled congress, and Bush got to appoint two right wing Supreme Court Justices.

First Bush appointed John Roberts to replace Sandra Day O'Connor when she stepped down. When Chief Justice Wm. Rehnquist died in 2005, Bush appointed Roberts as Chief Justice, and then filled O'Connor's empty chair with Samuel Alito. Both Roberts and Alito are Catholic, and both are outspoken against abortion.

Bush has appointed two of the nine Justices, including the Chief Justice. The current Supreme Court has been sharply divided on a number of high profile issues, including abortion rights, affirmative action, eminent domain, gay rights, the separation of church and state, sovereign immunity, and states' rights. The number of close votes in cases involving these areas suggests that a change of one or two key justices could completely shift the thinking of the Court on such issues.

Right now there are four Justices who are elderly and will soon either retire or die. The next President will get to appoint at least two new Justices. If the next President is McCain, those two will both be conservative right wing Christians. McCain has publicly PROMISED to do this, and explicitly said that his goal is to overturn Roe vs. Wade.

Most Americans, even most Republicans, value the separation of church and state. That clause is in our Constitution to protect us from exactly what is going on in America today! Allowing any religious group (especially a radical one) to control the interpretation and application of our laws in the highest court in the land is NOT democratic. Nor is it wise.

Ladies, prick up your ears! It is time for us to band together and fight John McCain.

The Hillary supporters need to hear the masses change rhetoric; the Obama supporters need to stop bashing her - you got the nomination - and start recognizing her as a great ally. That's the only way to quickly heal the wounds. Regardless of whose campaign did what, I will say that the average Obama voter was pretty aggressive and profane when regarding Hillary, which offended all of the loyal Democrats out there. The Clintons saved our party.

If Hillary is on the ticket, Obama may actually win VA - this is coming from a resident of Fairfax, that knows how most VA Hillary supporters are seeing things right now. VP or we'll be really mad - with 18 million votes, more votes and more fundraising than any other primary in history with the exception of the Obama campaign, almost 10% of the country has voted for Hillary or Obama, both at about 5%. That's INSANE for a primary. The two sides desperately need eachother.

And if Hillary had won, the Obama supporters would be screaming for him to get the VP slot - and Hillary supporters would probably argue for a bit, but really - it's crystal clear. They both have followings that are terrifying to the Republicans. We have to join together on a joint ticket.
