Are Virginians that stupid?
Are Virginians that stupid?
I'm from VA and no we are not stupid. Actually we are pretty smart here in VA. More so than the midwest still stuck in time. Obama will win VA because we intelligent people vote with our minds and not with other parts of the body.
Oh no, no, no ... no fear mongering from the Almighty chosen one ... he made that specific. Roe v. Wade will never be overturned and I would still vote against him even if it were. I will take an unwanted child over the ever so syrupy sweet, good looking, charming COMPLETELY INEXPERIENCED man.
McCain just said again that Roe v Wade must be overturned. Wow. And this is who the women who wanted Hillary to win will vote for. You ladies would be fools. You are ready to loose one of your rights even if you are not for abortion. To take a ladies right is already to me a crime. McCain will win one of them if he becomes our next President. Then the only ones who will look stupid will be the same angry women. I wonder what will he take next.
Oh baloney.......I am a white woman and I don't appreciate your scaremongering....
McCain is pro-life. There's nothing "scare-mongering" about that. It's simply the truth. He will appoint Supreme Court Justices that could vote to overturn Roe v. Wade and that is a reality. You don't even know what "scare-mongering" is if you consider the previous post that. Stop using political buzz words you don't understand. You've obviously have made the wrong choice in the past 2 elections, so do the rest of humanity a favor and stay home this time. You've done enough damage.
No ... I don't think there are any caucuses in the general, but I guess he could try it.
No he ain't gonna win ...........In Jeff davis we trust!
Northern Virginia has changed dramatically in the last 20 years. There is a fast growing middle eastern population and people from Latin America have increased their numbers substantially. The first and second generation immigrants who have attained citizenship will likely vote for Obama because they haven't fully grasped that - in America - politicians rarely fulfill their campaign promises. Most of the time their inability to make good on their promises is due to the fact what they offer is a fantasy - and not really do-able. Obama's success thus far has been because of his vague "change" mantra. He's smart enough to stay away from specifics so he can't be pinned down. As more people "discover" Virginia, however, and the demograhics change, the state will most certainly change from red to blue. Diverse populations with no legacy or commitment to what we used to call "civic duty" demand more of government and expect the government to solve their problems and take care of them. That is precisely what Obama offers.
I live in Virginia. We really are a purple state trying to turn blue. Obama won the primary here and has a real shot in the general election. "Yes We Can!" Obama '08
Yeah "cuppa jo" because our military service members LOVE fighting in Iraq for no goddamn good reason. Unless our soldiers enjoy fighting wars to help line the pockets of right wing fascists, then they will undoubtedly reject McCrook and support Barack Obama.
He will win Virginia because he deserves to. The people of Virginia are a smart bunch, and like the rest of us, they are ready for real change. From this point on, if you define yourself as a democrat, and you are not for Obama, YOU SHOULD CHANGE YOUR PARTY AFFILIATION!!! Our party has spoken, our leader has been chosen. Those of you who say you are indeed Democrats, but insist on attacking Obama, stop wasting everybody's time, and go over to the dark side of American politics, and American history.
Is there going to be an article questioning if McCain can win New York, or is this coverage going to continue on as one sided?
I think he can win virginia, especially when virginians begin to understand that bush and his little brother(mcCAIN)will be sending their children off to be killed in iraq.
Here's why Obama has a chance in VA. My best friend, a middle-aged, college educated, diehard Rupublican woman from central virginia-one of the most consevative sections of the country- who has never even considered voting for a Democrat, has flat out stated that she is voting for Obama. But only if Clinton is NOT on the ticket
Just remind the people of Va. it's not Obama closing Ft Monroe, it's McCains party who closed it years ago!! So when it''s gone and we are at war?? maybe someone with intellegence will keep it open, during a war, like oh maybe Obama!!! Do the civilian workers like the idea of unemployment???
Bob Barr forever!
In the first session of the 110th Congress (2007), McCain holds the dubious honor of missing, by a wide margin, more votes than any other Senator save one. The only one who missed more? That would be Senator Tim Johnson, who was recovering from a brain hemorrhage.
The Washington Post has a database that tracks vote missed in the Senate. McCain missed a whopping 261 of 468 votes, about 56%. And it not because he wasn't there in the building. He refuses to vote on any bill that is controversial or that he might be criticized for. Consequently, he votes on almost all of the silly votes (like "Name a Daisy Day") but fails to be in the room when really important stuff is going down, like votes concerning the war in Iraq. Senator Harry Reid, the Senate Majority Leader became so angry with McCain about this that he took him task for it right on the Senate floor, saying "Senator McCain has spent considerable time defending the President on Iraq, but has only managed to show up for four of the last fourteen Iraq votes."
In case you think I made that up, I will give you a reference: "McCain Missed Votes on Iraq Triggers Reid Rebuke" published in The Hill, May 17, 2007.
You may be asking why would McCain not want to vote on Iraq? Because he already knew then that he would be running for President, and he knew the war was increasingly unpopular, and he didn't want the Democrats to be able to point to his record and say "Look how he votes on Iraq."
McCain has also missed important votes on national security, funding of law enforcement, equipment for firefighters, and of course, his most recent no-show, on giving veterans the GI Bill. In fact, McCain misses more than half of his votes.
