It is possible to let the voting public pick the vice president. Let's remember how many votes Sen. Clinton gathered in the primary. At the presidential voting, between Sen.'s Obama and McCain, the candidate with the greatest number of votes becomes president. The candidate with the second place total of votes becomes vice president, unless that second place tally also falls behind the popular count recorded for Sen. Clinton during her primary run. If Hillary's count was greater, then she becomes vice president, and that third place finisher goes back to their job in the senate, with a 'Thank you' offered for their effort. This is close to how vp's were elected for the first several US Presidents. Today, we can all talk 'Change' and 'Across the aisle', or we can decide to actually have it. Let's see if either candidate steps up!

Maybe McCain should pick George Bush - they seem to get on well together, agree on a lot and George has lots of experience ;-)!

McCain looking for a co-pilot; are you serious, I thought it automatic. Dosn't he act a little robotic.

Here's some change you can believe in: the amount of times McCain has changed his values and positions on the issues.

The reason half of the conservative Christian right hates McCain is because they think that they can't trust him. McCain started his career as part of the Christian right (there's a little-known fact). Once he landed in the soup as part of the Keating Five (which almost derailed his career) he positioned himself as a liberal and became a reformer for campaign finance in an effort to resurrect himself. For those of you who don't remember, the Keating scandal had to do with some shim sham corporations pumping money into McCain's coffers. So McCain became a reformer to shine up his tarnished image, and that was his first departure from the right.

Other, more serious betrayals of the right came later, after McCain got swift boated by Bush in 1999. The great Texas Republican political machine laid McCain to waste, and McCain was mad as hell. He started voting against the party line and against Bush. He suddenly supported abortion rights, opposed the Bush tax cuts, co-sponsored a patient's bill of rights with Kennedy and Edwards, and got on the environmental bandwagon with John Kerry. My gosh, he even tried to crack down on gun shows in legislation he put forth with then-Democrat Joe Lieberman. And in 2001, when Senator Jeffords of Vermont switched from Republican to Independent in an effort to counteract Bush's stranglehold on the Senate, McCain announced that he was considering becoming a Democrat, and went into a pow-wow with Senator Tom Daschle at his Sedona ranch. And did you know that John Kerry floated the idea of having McCain as his VP in '04? That was to have cemented his status as a newly-minted Democrat.

But instead of joining Kerry, McCain suddenly switched his affiliation, came out in support of Bush in '04, and jettisoned his liberal image. Suddenly, it was the "old" McCain from the 1980s back in the saddle, the neo-conservative, take no prisoners Creationist. Against abortion. For the war. The SAME man who opposed a Federal amendment banning gay marriage and openly met with gay groups now was pushing a gay marriage ban in Arizona. The SAME man who said in 1999 that he was opposed to overturning Roe vs. Wade, now suddenly in 2007 is promising that he will stack the deck in the Supreme Court with religious right judges and overturn Roe vs. Wade.

But the religious right isn't so sure about him. He's supported so many different opposing positions at so many times, that they are afraid that they are getting played in the name of McCain's political expediency.

Here are videos that show clips of McCain reversing himself on the same issues at different times, to give you an idea of what I am talking about. Don't believe me -- get it straight from the horse's mouth:

Comment: HRC supporters - while I haven't been as successful as I hoped on this site, I have found many allies on other sites including noquarterusa.net and CNN. I'd like to rename our project: Operation Respect. The goal is to go after those who have used vile and malicious comments against Hillary and make sure there are consequences for them - in particular, the folks at Newsweek, MSNBC and their advertisers.

Initially, we just need to ensure we are not boosting rates at MSNBC and Newsweek sees their subscriptions drop (which will lower advertising revenue). Thereafter, we will go after the advertisers (just like the right wing has done successfully in some of their campaigns).. I will be back in touch with boycott details. Thanks to those of you who have added ideas and better tactics than I initially proposed.

Obama supporters - I don't think Barack is behind any of this nor is my anger directed at him (although some of you are really pissing me off calling HRC supporters, dumb, ignorant, stupid, etc.). Please stay out of this and let HRC supports redress our grievances with the people that are really behind our anger.

HRC supporters - I know many of you are angry at Obama. CNN polls show that 17% of HRC supporters will vote for McCain and 22% plan to stay home. I understand. The GE is 5 months away. In the meantime, let's see if we can bring down Keith Olbermann, Chris Matthews, Howard Fineman, Jonathan Alter, etc., to at least take the edge off. Women will never be disrespected again (at least by these as*hol*es) if we can effectively hit them where it hurts.

Really, you can't blame them for distrusting him. Floridave mentions that "at least McCain is to the right of Obama." But the joke is on you. During the late 1990s and early 2000s, McCain was to the LEFT of Obama.

Not true..Obama already CHANGED the Democratic Party..No Washington lobbyist money or PAC money from now on.

That makes the Democratic Party actually responsible to the people of this country. If they don't actually follow through on promises or hold to policy they espouse, no more money from Mr. and Mrs. American.

It got little press, but it may be the single most important step in STARTING to fix what we all know is wrong with this country.

How are you feeling abou that $32 Billion of your tax dollars the fed handed to Bear Sterns?
That money could have saved EVERY HOME FORCLOSURE in AMERICA. Instead it was used by Republicans to keep big businesses from paying the price for their own greed and dishonesty.

When you compare McCain and Obama on issues like the economy , gas prices , wars abroad , education, the climate , immigration, etc., these two men are basically the same. The point is , these problems are much too large and complicated for any one man to remedy in a one term Presidency..or even a 2 term Presidency.

A President can make a real difference on an issue they can commit to realistically but not the broad spectrum of all the challenges they face. Obama can't ' change ' all this and neither can McCain. You have to keep this thing real.

The difference between McCain and Obama is who they are and where they came from. If most Americans prefer who McCain is as a person and where he came from as opposed to who Obama is and where he came from , then McCain will be chosen President. The same holds true with the roles reversed. Thats the reality of the election. All these domestic and worldly issues combined will not be tempered by just one man, whether its McCain or Obama.

In the first session of the 110th Congress (2007), McCain holds the dubious honor of missing, by a wide margin, more votes than any other Senator save one. The only one who missed more? That would be Senator Tim Johnson, who was recovering from a brain hemorrhage.

The Washington Post has a database that tracks vote missed in the Senate. McCain missed a whopping 261 of 468 votes, about 56%. And it not because he wasn't there in the building. He refuses to vote on any bill that is controversial or that he might be criticized for. Consequently, he votes on almost all of the silly votes (like "Name a Daisy Day") but fails to be in the room when really important stuff is going down, like votes concerning the war in Iraq. Senator Harry Reid, the Senate Majority Leader became so angry with McCain about this that he took him task for it right on the Senate floor, saying "Senator McCain has spent considerable time defending the President on Iraq, but has only managed to show up for four of the last fourteen Iraq votes."

In case you think I made that up, I will give you a reference: "McCain Missed Votes on Iraq Triggers Reid Rebuke" published in The Hill, May 17, 2007.

You may be asking why would McCain not want to vote on Iraq? Because he already knew then that he would be running for President, and he knew the war was increasingly unpopular, and he didn't want the Democrats to be able to point to his record and say "Look how he votes on Iraq."

McCain has also missed important votes on national security, funding of law enforcement, equipment for firefighters, and of course, his most recent no-show, on giving veterans the GI Bill. In fact, McCain misses more than half of his votes.

Is this the kind of President that you want?

IT's time to disect McCain's weaknesses, like the ECONOMy and the WAR.
WE are about to find out whether America is still RACIST. IF BARAK wins he will be the first man to be from two races to win. HE IS BOTH BALCK AND WHITE and that should work in this favor.
McCAIN can only win if he pLAyS the race card. THE REpublicans have destroyed the fabric of this country . THey HAVE TURNED THE LAND OF IMMIGRANTS AND OppORTUNITy TO THE LAND OF DEBT, RACISM AND WAR. THEy HAVE LEFT A HUGE CRATER WHICH McCAIN WANTS TO MAKE DEEpER by CONTINUING their misguided ONE HUNDRED yEAR pOLICIES. BUSH/CHENEy pOLICIES have catered to the rich and put the middle class through hell. I call it Economic Feudalism.

BILL CLINTON is such a gifted man but his one flaw, addiction to women, cost GORE AND HIS WIFE THE presidency. Bill was the best president, we the people, have ever had. ADDICTION will bring anyone down AND THE people AROUND THEM, regardless of who they are. IT is a shame because Bill Clinton has done AMAZING things around the globe and here at home over the last fifteen years.
Hillary I do not know what to say, you are a great women and AMERICA NEEDS yOU.

BARAK, congratulations, I have been commenting on your wave of change since NOVEMEBER. All my posts turned out to be dead on. yOU are a champion who beat another champion
