Wow! Everyone is so pessimistic about our future. I am on the other hand an optimist. We are smart people, and I am sure we can figure out something, but WE ALL HAVE TO WORK TOGETHER! Stop arguing with each other and lets do something about it.

Are you Republicans sure you don't want to give Bill Clinton the blame for the last six years,
Obama has yet to be elected Commander in Chief! Do you have the two mixed up, or is what
most of us are feeling right now just a blip on George Bushes Air Force Ones radar screen?
I realize he can only take credit for about 2 months of current domestic events for his entire time in office, because his but was flying around taking care of you republicans favorite foreign countries with our shortage of OIL. I take that back, he did fly to Arizona to campaign for Mcain, again on Air Force One! Has anyone noticed there is no shortage of oil for NASCAR, Airlines, ETC,ETC. and on and on!
With talk of gas prices rising to $6 in the near future the federal minimum wage needs to be raised to at least double that in order to make up for it. Where I am people can't afford to pay their rent let alone buy gas. I don't even work right now because with wages as they are any job I get will only provide enough pay to cover day care costs so what's the point I ask...... With little help from the government and the impossible task of affording health care. people are going in way over their heads and living off of credit cards to get by, but what happens when they max out? Thank you to our lovely economy for forgetting who we have here. I support my troops but we did it on our own, every time we get attacked we take care of ourselves whereas whenever we attack someone we go rebuild their economy leaving the average Joe on the street begging for food. By the way the countries we have rebuilt in the past have done nothing to help us in our time of need so I say forget them and take care of your own before you meddle in the business of others that's what itr's going to take to get us back!!!!!!!!!

If anyone thinks CEO's are underpaid, I invite them to work for the airline or auto industry!
It won't take you long to figure out where your head is! How come Bush can ram any policy
or trade agreement straight down our throats, but he hasn't got the power to intervene in declaring government lands open for drilling ,as a matter of our national interest! If you think you own a large piece of America, and the government can't take it away from you, you might read some earlier history books! Bush has that power, but he understands, incorrectly,.. if you bought it, then you own it and it can't be touched, even by the U.S. Government! I'm sure
getting sick of Bush's Greed supporting policies! It may take some time, but either Bush, Obama, or Mcain will be remembered for taking a large section of U.S. Soil for Oil Drilling!
It is within their presidential powers, you will see this come to pass! Give up your greed mentallity.
The only thing you have not mention is the fact of where are Americans going to get extra income to start spending again. i think overall earning has remained stagnate in the past 7 years. The whole bush economy is run on credit not real earnings. Also since we buy so much from China and India wont they suffer too when we stop spending.
In conclusion. If you want the United States to be the same great country it was and still is you elect John McCain who is a real patriot but if you someone that is going to change the United States to a middle east Islamic country ran by the ACLU "All Crooks Liberals United", homosexual and perverted judges and the drug-adicts starts of Hollywood then Obama is your man.
No, please don't stop. Your insightful visions of the future are filling us all with a newfound wisdom.
Thank God for you, Mr. Potato Head.
The real initial problem that has cause all the turmoil comes from the out sourcing to thriving countries. If any one is to blame it is the corporations cutting corners by producing cheaper items and cheaper labor by countries booming to a point where they need as much resouces as we do.
Want to fix this? Close the borders to all imports and lets go back to a working America to use our own resources. Think about it and see if this fits into your puzzle.
Where do these economists get their ideas? Do they live in the 'real world'? The economy is going to continue to fall until the price of oil drops to below $80 a barrel or we come up with an alternative energy source, such as water or used cooking oil. Ethanol is NOT the answer. I'd rather walk than put that stuff in my gas tank. BTW, I've greased my bike chain AND trained my horse to pull a carriage. I use my car 1x wk.

Absolutely - 'bread and circuses' , read : fast food and 'American Idol', worked for the Romans, and its working now here, with a good dose of fear invested as well. Listen yankees, America is great for making money, but you have a fooked up society, and absolutely NO culture. Oh, I'll be retiring in the South of France on my vineyard, but thanks for asking patriotic sucka !!
Why Newsweek fact checking is Worse Than you Think -
ex-Wachovia CEO Ken Thompson is not commonly known as G. Thompson Kennedy last time I checked. This article is such a slapdash collection of random snippets and quotes ("the price of store-bought brownies has DOUBLED!"; "a bad economy hurts the INCUMBENT PARTY!"), that it's not surprising traditional MSM can't make a dime off subscriptions anymore.
Try to create some cogent analysis and check your sources before you go to print, and hopefully you won't go out of business.
Also ,Obama has less cojones than Hilarious Clinton did. He will bend over to Hugo Chavez, Raul Castro and all the crazies dictators of China, North Korea and the Middle East. He also has good friends in the PLO who wants to destry Israel. I wonder how many enemies of the USA will send their contributions to Obama?Just as the Chinese dictator did with Bill Clinton and the weather man Albe Gore!!!
You want to vote for CHANGE. Help yourselves. As the ignorants from Venezuela that wanted a change and voted in power Hugo Chavez for more than 5 years that he was allowed under their constitution. They got their wishes and now they want Chavez out which is not going to happen. If you want a truly American President that will not put up with dictators and believes in Christianity.McCain is the man but if you want a real Muslin President that will benefits all terrorists dictators and don't want to drill oil in Alask or Gulf Of Mexico then Obama is the man. He will also put in power perverts judges that share the same values than his criminals and lunatics from his Chicago Pizza church promote. And Obama's wife will be the first lady that will be proud of her country for the first time in her life. She should be the first lady in another country. The first lady title does not fit her image because she has no class.
McCain? You mean "Songbird" McCain?!? We love that guy! He did a ton of ad spots for us in the 60s!
Signed,
The Viet Cong
MUSLIM with an two Ms. Come on, Smarty Pants! Try Harder..
Jerks, ignorant slike you don't know waht they are talking about it...You watch to much liberal network from the crooks that endorse the pathetic Democratic Party already labeled as the "The New Communist Party Of USA " ran by Muslin Obama "OSAMA" who by the eay does not mention ever how he is going to fix the economy ruined by his own party that voted against George Bush and McCain in drilling in Alaska or the Gulf Of Mexico. Price of gas control the economy and Obama prefer no pumping gas in the USAso he can benefit the two peopel that he admires so much. The crazy Iranian Dictator "MUSLIN" and Hugo Chavez.. I wonder how many maniacs that Obama associate with will be part of his cabinet. If Obama is elected we will have the first American version of Hugo Chavez ruining the country and all terrorists will get protection from Obama because he shares their values and religion. You can also thank Bill Clinton for boosting China's economy and allowing the 19 terrorists of 911 to come to the United Sates with vacationist visas and did the damage they did. He was also too busy chasing women in the white house instead of hunting for Osama in Agahanistan. Yes the same Osama he helped fith the Russians.
Shame on you.
For all this animus, you'd think that you would have the common sense to correctly spell MUSLIM. How about just basic Spell Check..or is that some "Pinko Commie Sissypants Dem" thing to do?
Even you tagname is misspelled, you troglodyte. Go listen to your Rush Limbugh podcasts and let the grownups talk, genius. I'm sorry, in your lingo that would be "GEEN-YUS".
Our problems lie outside of our country as much as if not more than within it making it unlikely that any potential POTUS can truly fix this mess. The biggest problem is that we don't manufactuire things anymore. Why? Because we can't and shouldn't have to compete with a billion Chinese communist slaves. This problem is exacerbated by the rising costs of energy. The declining power of the dollar as compared to other major currencies further compounds our problems. We're in a hole and will need to climb out by ourselves because nobody in the world is going to lower us a rope unless it's to hang us with.

Wag the Dog!
When Bush took over, the U.S. had a 10 trillion dollar budget surplus, $1.29 / gallon gas, a valuable dollar and revered standing in the world. I honestly can't think of anything he's done right, outside of making some ocean around Hawaii a federally protected fishing reserve.
I can't help but wonder exactly what our governmental officials were thinking as they allowed more and more of our jobs to go offshore. Certainly they are taking some sort of money from Walmart, as we all know that wonderful $600 economic stimulus was spent at stores that purchase over 50% of their products offshore. Oops, there goes that stimulus - at least it will help other countries. Now, bottom line - until we start establishing some sort of made in America tax incentives or penalties for offshoring, we are in for the same as Japan has been living with for over 10 years. Currently the cheap dollar makes made in America goods a great buy. And thank goodness, for without that cheap dollar, we would be facing one heck, the likes of which I've never seen, of an economic resession, boarding on depression. We need jobs, not empty economics. stimulus
Before you talk about how either of the candidate can "turn around" the economy, really think about it: can one person single-handedly turn recession into massive growth, bring roaring price of oil and food down, create needed number of jobs, etc. etc.? I am afraid even the superman can not. It is a myth how much the president, or anyone, chairman o the Fed. etc. can affect the state of the economy and its running course. The suitable ruler to judge whether or not a president has done well with the economy is to see if he has made the best judgement possible given all the information available, in making up short-run relevant economic policies, such as tax cut or spending cut etc. (assuming the Congress would get behind him), and importantly in putting forward long-term relevant policies, that is, those that would in the coming decades help bring about technological progress, and ensure a system consisting of the marketplace as well as the regulatory departments are balanced and well functioning. One problem of course is that one can only know whether or not a policy is the "right" one or not after a long time has passed, but the current political system doesn't seem to encourage people thinking long-term. To see that a country is vibrant and prosperous in the long run, I think one of the most fundamental things is its culture, whether it nurtures sensible behaviors since each citizen's childhood, reflected in the social institutions.
By the way, I think Obama is probably quite good at having a long term perspective, hence good economic policies that will help long term growth and prosperity. As for the instinct for short run economic policies, I guess a businessman will do bettter. McCain doesn't seem to have a talent for either (think about his "gas tax break in the summer", "we will be there for a hundred years" (right, and all money for gunpowder little for bread)).
Mitt Romney as VP might have a shot at turning around the economy. He understands the instruments that underlie such a major undertaking. Obama is dismal on economics.
I think that it's pretty obvious that the banks are taking the Fed's money and using it to speculate in the oil and grain futures markets with the Fed's blessing. All the while denying credit to those that need it.
It makes me sick to my stomach.
Yup! The banks are into futures in oil, not much doubt. There should be restrictions on how Fed money can be used. Are there?
