How can Hillary Clinton claim to stand for Women???s Rights when her husband has abused, allegedly raped and/or had affairs with so many women. Juanita Broaddrick, Eileen Wellstone, Kathleen Wiley, Paula Jones, Monica Lewinsky, Jennifer Flowers, Elizabeth Ward Gracen, Sally Perdue, Dolly Kyle Browing, Judy Gibbs, Deborah Mathis, Cristy Zercher, Virginia Kelley, Carolyn Moffet, and Sandra Allen James are just the ones that have been documented. This does not include the newest batch referred to in the Vanity Fair article. How can anyone have respect for someone that maintains a relationship with such a rogue and lecher? That certainly should not be the face of Women???s Rights.

So many women go through the same thing. Women are looked down if they stay in the relatonship or get out. What Bill did is between Hillary and himself. Let's stop with the double standard. Blame Bill but not Hillary

To the original post- I couldn't agree with you more and you said it so much better than I have in the past.
What a person does personally in an elected position DOES become the business of the public especially when they are POTUS. The President should be someone that every American can look up to and respect. The should be moral the best that we have in this nation. How can you expect someone to do the right thing for all Americans when they act criminally even in private or especially in private! If moral character and personal accountability mean nothing then lets vote in the head of Organized Crime- they know how to run "the business" and do it without regards to morality and the law. They are efficient if nothing else. Let's compare the Clintons to organized crime...they lie(sniper, didn't have sex..), they break the law (perjury), they steal (removed property from White House that wasn't theirs) they have people killed (or let's just say people who cross them have really, really bad luck with planes, cars and bullets etc). Come to think of it I think that the Clintons are just like the mob. Hillary and Bill deserve each other but not another term in the White House. WE CAN DO BETTER THAN THEM!

Loriew You sure are judgemental when it comes to Hillary. What about Obama. He is not [perfect. He has told several lies and a lot of friends who are unsavory. At least Hillary is not with people who say G D America, or whoi have bmbed the pentagon . And don't use her pastor who was charged with molesting a child as an example against her. She didn't write a book that said he was her spiritual advidor or sit and listen to him for twenty years while he made racial slurs and anti American Rhetoric.

WHAT BILL DID WAS BETWEEN BILL AND HIS VICTIMS; HILLARY STOOD BY HER MAN ---REMEMBER ?

how funny it was for all of you to judge?"all men are created equally?"think again!

Why didn't we see articles on past candidates facing possible depression after a lossed election?

  • Posted By: luvmylife @ 06/08/2008 8:26:22 PM

Can't believe I'm still online. Some of the comments made in response to this article reflect how woefully ignorant many people are about the candidates. But what else can we expect when we have so little good reporting in our national media? Even though I am a lifelong Democrat, I have long ago dismissed Newsweek and others who just present opinions disguised as news. Now don't let me get started on how poorly some of the commenters express themselves. Their benighted views are made worse by their poor command of the English language. I don't say this with the idea that these writers don't express themselves well because they are dealing with a second language because it is all too apparent that English is their one and only language.

Well said, luvmylife! Weeks ago, I gave up reading my "news" magazines, which were nothing more than advertisements for Obama under the guise of objective journalism. This article on HRC is more of the same. Shame on you, Newsweek! I thought you were above the political game-playing of the NYT and other newspapers. My subscription renewal has just been pushed to the bottom of the pile.

Please allow Sen. Clinton some well deserved privacy and a break from biased newspeople. I'm sure she's exhausted and would enjoy some down time with her family. God bless you, Hillary.

    • Posted By: loriw @ 06/08/2008 8:50:12 PM

Hillary doesn't deserve a rest from anything as long as she hasn't quit and is only suspended. So if everyone who is a HRC supporter wants people to stop talking about her, writing about her then go to her and tell her to QUIT. Otherwise she is still fair game, especially when she is still trying to play shell game math with us about her "popular votes"

Luckily Hillary Clinton has the money, the time, the friends and the ability to take some tiime off after her disappointment....the majority of Americans have to pull themselves up by their bootstraps when they are not chosen for a job and move on to the next attempt. She should focus on working to keep John McCain from becoming the president......now that's not only depressing, it's frightnening!

  • Posted By: sml40235 @ 06/08/2008 8:43:19 PM

She could have started the process at least one month ago, so that it could be less traumatic - she knew the maths just did not make her nomination possible. However, since she is so arrogant and self-centred she chose to ignore the facts. VP - absolutely not. I would not sleep for one night as a President with Senator Clinton and former President Bill anywhere close - they can't be trusted. Have you ever heard of sabotage or undermining?

  • Posted By: bluehypedna @ 06/08/2008 8:42:05 PM

I am a Chinese whom lived in NYC for the past twenty years...I've never followed an election like this year's presidential race....and I have to say none of the media or press even newspaper was kind or support Clinton throughout the race from the beginning to the end! What was going on here?I refused to vote and so was my entire family members....totally unfair to Clinton.

    Moral from Today's Lesson:

    1) Barack Obama's mother is dead as is his grandfather. There have been any number of pictures shown in the media of Sen Obama withh his mother and his grandparents. They have been shown all over the place.

    2) He did not attend a Muslim school while he lived in Indonesia - he attended a Catholic school. Try doing a little honest research and you can verify that fact.

    3) He went to the a top prep school in Hawaii because he received a scholarship that enabled him to attend. He attended 2 of the best colleges in the US because he took out student loans in order to afford to go (loans that he only finished paying off a few years ago)

    4) I thin the law firm where he was an associate, the University of Chicago where he was a lecturer teaching Constitutional Law and the investment firm (where he worked for a short time after college) would take great exception to your claim that he has never held a "tproductive" job.

    5) Sen Obama is a bestselling author, not once but twice. If you had bothered to look, at his tax returns for the past several years when he released them - you would notice that he has profited quite nicely from the sale of those books. His wife also worked and received a salary and that State Senator job that you so belittled - he received a salary for that.

    6) Senator Obama has never been implicated in any illegal dealings with Tony Rezko. Ever. He has said, more than once, it wasn't the best decision - but it was not illegal.

    7) Senator Obama has not attended the United Trinity Church for over a year - and in fact, several weeks ago, severed his ties with the church and Rev Wright completely.

Please stop spreading lies and rumours. And above all - stop trying to scare people.

(thank you poster ObamaNotMuslim - I second the suggestion).

While I didn't read this article, I'm astonished that this subject matter would be broached. Why? Senator Clinton, while being bashed from every conceivable trivial angle, is an inspiration to all. She truly is grace under fire, with an abundant and steadfast dedication to serving this country. There is no doubt she will endure this senseless defeat with the sheer inner strength she has mastered and she will continue to smile. I, along with her millions of admirers and supporters, share a sadness at the outcome of her valiant pursuit.

She was patting her heart, listening very closely, taking it in," says Aronchick. Hillary's husband "was walking around chewing on a cigar, chatting it up with people," says Aronchick. The ex-president appeared, to Aronchick at least, to be in a great mood

Comment: I am a life-long republican who gave her the benefit of the doubt, and after I heard her on O"Reilly decided I would vote for her over McCain...
She didn't lose to a republican, she lost to another democrat, for whom I will vote..
If she is presidential, and a mature adult, she can certainly handle this -without such sanctimonious drivel..
Ok, Suzanne, you broached the subject, Bill Clinton is in a great mood because his was thinking about where that cigar has been... I am a husband! I would be anything but in a great mood!.
    See her in 2012...

I do not think that Senator Clinton will be depressed by the outcome of her lost presidential nomination bid. She is made of different quality stuff seasoned by lots of trials and challenges and successful at the end, unlike what the media and others think. She made historic records by getting 18M votes on her side, and the very first woman who attempted to become a US President and it is a sort of wonderful achievements. With such great stride how can you say she is in to depression. It is only on the mind of those at the very start of the campaign were against her. YOu cannot simply compare her to the other pasts presidential bids which are too far from her remarkable feat. In the future, the nation will wake up to have a first woman President, and that person is the name Hillary Clinton.

You Clinton supporters are still dislussional and continue to drink her cool-aid even after her defeat. You're like little spoiled children who cover their ears and yell lalalalalalalalala. The media may have played a minuet role of sexism but that's only because Hillary proclaimed herself the winner even before the primaries began and then began to cry foul when it was seen that she was losing.

Gizzy81 you must know Hillary personally for you to say she's not going to be depressed. I got news for you, if she's human, its normal to be depressed after a disappointing lost. I don't care how strong she may be. As a woman you surely must know that a true feminist doesn't proclaim sexism as a way to excuse their short-comings. Hillary failed because she along with Bill & Chelsea showcase a continue aura of arrogance and over-confidence.

And you do every woman in this world a diservice by join her bandwagon. Stop playing a scorn woman and accept the fact that your candidate ran a very bad campaign with enept advisors. The quicker you realize this, the sooner you can stop accusing other for your and Hillary's short-comings. And by the way, you saying that you're not proud of the "male candidates" sure sound not only sexist but bitterness. But I guess your definition of sexism and bitterness differs from my own.

LEGEND?????? IN RETROSPECT I CAN APPRECIATE WHAT HILLARY WAS TRYING TO DO. HOWEVER THE PROBLEM FOR HILLIARY STARTED BACK WHEN THE LIES BEGAN, (NO ONE MIS SPEAKS THAT MUCH). ITS HARD TO SELL SEXISM, WHEN YOU CAN'T KEEP YOUR OWN STORY STRAIGHT. AMERICA HAS HAD ENOUGH OF LIES AND TRICKERY AND IS NOW CONCENTRATED ON RE-BUILDING AND REGAINING ITS INTEGRITY. LIKE THIS COUNTRY SHE NEEDS TO HEAL, UNFORTUNATELY SHE HAS TO DO IT WITH THE WORLD WATCHING. HOW YOU HANDLE IT IS WHAT MAKES YOU A LEGEND.

      GREAT JOB !

  • Posted By: Eire52 @ 06/08/2008 8:12:04 PM

Everyone needs to calm down a little I think. Come on - it's just an article. Yes, Sen Clinton deserves a lot of respect for her tenacity, her intelligence, her courage. Nowhere in this article did I see anything that would imply anything different.

The author was just trying to point out what many other politicians have gone through after losing an election. M y God! Has it really come to this when noone can express an opinion without fear of being vilified? Just because you don't agree with it doesn't make it disgraceful.

And one more thing, surely everyone knew articles that these were coming. It's part of the whole process. It may not be pretty and sometimes it is pleasant, but this is what happens. Sen Clinton is not the first politician who has gone through this and obviously she is not going to be the last.

I am a male that supported Hillary Clinton from the start. I must say it is very "impressive" of Newsweek to not only be a sexist Hillary basher, but to have obtained their "MD license," as well as also becoming a "specialist in the field of Psychiatry." Why don't you stick to fair journalism, which you are not very good at.
What ever happens to her, I'm sure that she will deal with it as well as any of the males that ran and lost. Did you forget that she stayed in the race from start to finish and garnered 18 million votes. That would be more votes than any other male candidate that ran for the nomination and came in second. She probably got more votes than most males that got the nomination, if not all! I wonder if you would treat your mother or wife that sexist manner????? I am a married school teacher with 2 children and 4 grandchildren. As a teacher, if I treated the girls in my class differently than the boys, I probably would be fired and I'm sure if one or more of your female children or grandchildren was treated in a sexist way, you would be the first to print an article about a sexist teacher and demand that teacher be fired.

Don't you guys/pretend reporters have something better to tdo, than been gossiping about Hillary clinton?? I guess you all should go back to school and learn how to do the right article and respect Hillary clinton and anyone else, and us, the people as well.
i get so digust of the media, because the media thinks they can manipulate the viewers, our lives and everything else.
Shame on you , who thinks is a reporter, you are nothing else than a cheap media.

    • Posted By: loriw @ 06/08/2008 8:10:21 PM

Until Hillary packs it all in and really quits she is fair game for whatever media and bloggers want to hurl at her. As long as she is in suspended animation she gets what she gets.

  • Posted By: gizzy81 @ 06/08/2008 8:02:03 PM

The media has been so biased during this campaign by pulling out the sexism at every chance they get against Senator Clinton. So now she is going to be depressed, why because she is a woman. Does it not show that people respect her beliefs by the states that she won. If the media would have been as hard on Senator Obama it might have been a different campaign.
