Thats all the media can talk about is Hillary. Its over so move on to the issues at hand. Why don't you focus on Obama. Obama is a dud, radical, extreme liberal, woman hater, follower, and will damage this country if elected. I'm a Democrat and supported Hillary 100% . In November, I will vote for McCain along with the other women and non-racist people who know exactly what I'm talking about.

Explain to your daughter why she will lose the choice over her body because he parents didnt vote for the candidate with the closest platform to the one they supported great choice more war and a worse economy!

It is the biggest no brainer in the history of man, we, each of us has made the biggest past mistakes possible, we voted from some lame brain self serving presidents, who have placed us into debt to foreign countries who almost own us and whom we once fought against; their actions have segregated us from any future relationship with the Arab world in favor or Israel; Small Country, lots of Money, keen on war, but self serving all the more. No one told these lame brain presidents that isolationism was dead, this is a new World. We need a change, Hillary or Barack will give us a start toward change. But positive change toward our place in the world, not our dominance of the world , that philosophical political change is not subtle it is essential, lets help ourselves get to a better place. Think About your Vote in November, hope Hillary is on the ticket somewhere !

What are you stupid, no fundimentalist arab nation on earth will deal in good faith with a woman, Thats not mysonginitic it's a damn fact. And obama is less credible as he is going to be looked upon as a traitor to the faith. That is unless his chritianity has been a cover all along. And I cetainly don't rule that out. Niether of these candidates has the real world qualifications to stand strong in your new world or the real one the rest of us live in. And thatis not to say Mcain does. But If he can take the torture he endured in vietnam, he can sure as hell stand up to the far left.

Newsweek-the title and subject of your article is out of line. I have never seen you mention a man going into depression about losing a presidential race. You have no class and no place in the realm of true news--one step above the gossip/*** magazines such as the "Sun."

Hillary will always be a winner in my eyes....All the male pigs that wanted me to conform to their ways and to worship them DID NOT HAPPEN in my eyes. The Hillary women always made sure my rights as a white woman were taken care of..inclusive of wearing skirts in the south, when pants were brought down from the North and the NOW created my ethics as a professional woman in the South. She is my mother of civil rights and always will be....I just feel very sorry for the women who were exploited under white man ruling and the conformed because they did not have Hillary education that they too have rights to not expose thier bodies and be little disgraces to society. They did not have the proper role models as young ladies. My role models were firm...Hillary Clinton, Gov of Kansas, and Olympia Snowe, US of ME. Good bless America that I had the correct role models to establish my career as a woam. I never had an affair with a married man, I never exposed my body to the men @ work, and I never dated or had intimacy with any client of consumer while I was working....That says more than words can say about Hillary Clinton...She is a really good woman and she is human just like we are. I will vote for Obama now because I believe he has enough education and he is interracial so he will make matters fair here in Aemrica for all people....anyway, we are // "We the poeple". Thank you for a very insightful post - and I appreciate your openess towards Obama. I know he'll never be as good as Hillary in your eyes, but he will be far better than McCain. And Hillary is far from being finished. She will yet be President.

      HEY ! MS.

DO YOU LIKE THE WAY BILL CLINTON USES THE MOUTH OF WOMEN AS HIS WEENIE REPOSITORY ?

DO YOU LIKE THE WAY YOUR HERO WITCH HILLARY STANDS BY HER ADULTEROUS MAN ?

      SOME HERO ?

  • Posted By: opinion8ted @ 06/08/2008 6:15:40 PM

The far left might start to gain some credibility if they had more than one argument for evrything. If you don't believe in the things they do you are a bigot. Small small minds. It does nto matter by the way, what anyones reason is for voting the way they do. The right to exercise ones franchise according to his or her heart is sacred. If that person works on a basis of hatred then they will either be judged by their maker or just die a sad and lonley person. But just because i CAN'T AND WON'T SUPPORT SOMEONE i CONSIDER TO BE A FRAUD does not mean that I wouldn't support a man of color or woman who I believe represents my ideals.

Hillary is ego-driven as is Bill...It's all about them...Her campaign is in hock and she was Obama to bail her...
Her campaign sins are to great to be forgiven...she should retire gracefully as did Al Gore. She's carpetbagged her way into the Senate and done nothing for New York.

Is this supposed to be a news article ... the title sounds more like something that would be seen in the checkout lane at the local supermarket! I've about had it with reading, and listening to, the commentaries that inevitably go along with any newsworthy event. The catch-phrases and cute titles, although meant to catch the reader's eye, are often the ideas that, in the long run, become what the public remembers the most. People need to be given the opportunity to reach their own conclusions. News reporters should be just that - those who report the news, not those who sway public opinion and policy by the quirk of an eyebrow, the tone of their voice, or the turn of a phrase. Hillary Clinton and other public figures deserve more respect than to be subjected to tabloid headlines, at least in the well-known news forums.

What a misogynistic load of crap that again finds weakness with the female candidate. Instead of celebrating the achievement and the 18 million votes she received, changing the landscape of politics and making a level playing field for Obama, who would not have had such a free ride from the press against a white male opponent, you choose to find a way to weaken Senator Clinton???s remarkable strength, giving others a reason to see weakness. It???s typical of the treatment she received from the press throughout the campaign. If Obama had shown emotion, he???d be portrayed as an, I feel your pain, Renaissance man. . Obama was golfing yesterday while the person who received more votes was speaking and saving his chances of victory. If Clinton is depressed, where???s the article about how callous Obama is in victory. Shame on you!

But, if you liked Hillary's platform and you vote for Mc Cain for meanness, then you are in line for a date with Forrest Gump. Self destruction is never a reasonable reaction to any situation in life. It just doesn't make sense.

  • Posted By: tiffmc @ 06/08/2008 4:19:44 PM

And to all of you uppity Obama supporters: when Obama loses it will be such a shock to him, probably because he's so arrogant and full of himself, that he'll jump off a cliff. Because of your Obamania, you'll probably jump right after him. And this is coming from a true blue Democrat who won't be voting for him, not because I am a huge Hillary fan, but because Obama is an arrogant SOB with little to no integrity. I feel sorry for those of you who actually buy into his snake-oil salesman pitch.

    • Posted By: ponytailfarm @ 06/08/2008 4:31:10 PM

You're the one who sounds "uppity" and racist as well. I supported Clinton, but by golly Obama is far better than McCain. What are you thinking? Arrogant? Look in the mirror.

sure anyone who does not agree or vote for Obama is a racist !1 that is a joke but knowing that most who Obama supporters belogn either in the Zoo or hanging out on trees eating bananas seems understandable. For Blacks who want respect and equality I suggest that they get off their bums, work and earn respect.Obama has done so much and already affected Change... the return at a second look at all the black racist Americans.

i keep hearing that Barack is part white....and yes he did have a White biological mother...and I've heard about his white grandparents that took him in when his mother turned him out, he, Barack has said of them "They were white folks"...how come no mention of their love and devotion ? Is he ashamed of his white lineage or just pandering to the "black folks" that were concerned that he wasn't BLACK enough ?? I merely ask the question !!

    • Posted By: Perusing-through @ 06/08/2008 6:04:57 PM

To bboopster45: Based on your line of questions, I have to assume one of the three things.

(1.) Either you failed basic American history where it is written in all text books that a person born in America with the slightest fraction of African blood is to be classified a 'Negro' (aka African-American). Yes, we all know this is stupid logic but it served the purpose of our nation's institutionalized racist agenda. But I do find it interesting that after 140 years since Lincoln and his Union soldiers freed the slaves, the hypocritical Moral Evangelical Right has remained quiet and not a peep from them to address the illogical inconsistencies.

(2.) ....Or you are foreign born and understandably see this as an absurd issue. A man born from a Kenyan father and American women is somehow 'not' classified as a Kenyan-American, or an American of Kenyan descent. The absurdity also applies to Tiger Woods. Although is Tiger's father is 50%-African-American, 25%-Chinese, 25%-Native-American and his mother is 100%-Thai; the American institutions still (indirectly) classify Tiger as 'Black'. And with all Tiger's money and with all Obama's political connections, America and especially the religious right & Appalachia folks still continue to push these two great Americans into boxes that makes them feel secure, untainted and better about themselves.

(3.) ....Or maybe this was a weak attempt on your part to discredit Barack Obama, or insinuate things that are not true. If that is the case you have failed miserably because you are so pathetically transparent with your predispositions in full bloom.

    • Posted By: EveryoneHasBias @ 06/08/2008 3:14:00 PM

You may be merely asking, but your question itself is very revealing. The two options you've given show your opinion, and reveal that you're not really looking for an answer, but rather confirmation of what you already believe. By your logic, he's either ashamed of whites or pandering to blacks, neither of which is positive. You haven't been paying attention. He has and does speak of his respect and love for his grandparents, as well as theirs for him. Americans typically classify a person of his ancestry as African American. That he accepts this does not mean he is ashamed of his caucasian heritage. Anyway, this post has nothing to do with the article, so I see that as further evidence that you're merely trying to cast a negative light on Obama's racial identity, rather than seeking any real answers.

It was reassuring to read a comment that was well thought out and stimulated re-evaluation of issues. I hoped this forum would have more serious analysis, instead of a place for people who are verbally abusive. I read many intelligent comments from both sides. Individuals do not have to agree as many issues do no have a singke right answer. Discussion is mind expanding. But it is discouraging to know that people who limit their responses to name calling, expressions of hate, and reporting of events that are blatantly incorrect make ip a large percentage of voters.

      • Posted By: discouraged @ 06/08/2008 4:02:49 PM

It was so refreshing to read a well thought out reply that remains focused on the subject being addressed, offers information without being verbally abusive to others, and evokes the re-examination of our own opinions for possible biases. I fear the people who resort to name calling and comments filled with hate. They demonstrate their inabiity to assess and discuss important issues in our country and they will be voting.

Her Terms- where her problem. Life is not about doing things on "our" terms.

  • Posted By: olderwiser @ 06/08/2008 6:02:52 PM

Look, if you voted for Hillary because of her platform, then her platform is almost duplicated in Obama. Easy, vote for Obama. If you voted for Hillary because she was a woman and not because of her platform, then you are free to vote for Nader, Mc Cain and that Libertarian, whatever his name is. You can vote for Mc Cain because he was a prisoner of war, or because he was a Navy Pilot. You can vote for Nader because he made the Corvair safe to drive. You can vote for the libertarian because they always want to abolish government. Not a bad idea sometimes. But, there are no more women in the presidential race right now. The issue is dead. Vote. Or, stay home and cry.

  • Posted By: kodi @ 06/08/2008 5:55:09 PM

i cant wait to see all the dirt that comes up in this election....I read a thesis that Obama's wife worte in college...very black militant.....Should be entertaining...I think I may not vote in this one!!!! Either way, still think McCain is going to take it.

  • Posted By: olderwiser @ 06/08/2008 5:54:58 PM

The Clintons know that this is a democracy, not a kingdom. We change our leaders by vote, not inheritance. There is no vested right to continue in office just because you have been there before. The votes are in. The Clintons are out. Let's get on to November. I think that the Clintons are great, but they are no longer the story. The story is that we are still under the heel of the rottenest government that we have seen in a few lifetimes. We need to git rid of these borderline criminals by voting overwhelmingly to not just ease them but to throw them the hell out. Turn down the whines and turn up the pressure where it belongs. This horse is dead. It is time to quit kicking it.

  • Posted By: Straighttalkin' @ 06/08/2008 4:41:26 PM

I keep seeing these negative oriented speculations posted about Hillary.....amazingly biased and sexist!
If she is not put on the Obama Hussein ticket I can assure you McCain will win the election. Payback is a what the people will exact!

    • Posted By: cbnboy1974 @ 06/08/2008 5:49:38 PM

Will somebody please explain to ALL these Hillary supporters that Barack is NOT to blame for Hillary;s loss? I cleary dont see how they think they owe Obama payback. How about Hillary's poor campaign team?? and Obama had no say in the DNC party rules! He did NOT make them

    • Posted By: Zig Zag @ 06/08/2008 4:51:40 PM

As someone posted before - if you seek revenge, start by digging two graves. If McCain wins and it is the Hillary supporters that put him over the top, you'll get one month of satisfaction followed by three years and eleven months that will be just like the last eight years. If you think the price is worth it, then my all means, vote for McCain. I don't think too many people will.

    • Posted By: NWClerk @ 06/08/2008 4:50:02 PM

A truth is that it doesn't matter which Democratic candidate was chosen as far as the general election is concerned: The Republican are going to lose the presidency in November; it happens that it will be to Obama and not Hillary, but 2008 is a year of correction and it's the Republicans that will be corrected.

  • Posted By: olderwiser @ 06/08/2008 5:48:22 PM

Hopes are very heavy. I have carried hopes and I carried so many once that I got a hernia. I know how Hillary must feel, carrying hopes and all.

  • Posted By: retrothyme @ 06/08/2008 4:34:52 PM

This is the most SEXIST article EVER!!!!! You want to know why women are mad? Read this article. Were there articles written about other "men" candidates getting depressed after they lost a bid at the presidency? I didn't see them. But if it's a woman, she's going to fall into depression. Give me a break. This makes me so angry and it's trash like this that feeds the divide between Democrates. Maybe that's what you are aiming for. Find another topic to write about, it might make your day job worthwhile.

    • Posted By: NWClerk @ 06/08/2008 4:47:15 PM

Did you not even read the article? Every MAN who was in the article was talked about as having been depressed after he lost a big election.---Adams, Carter, Nixon, Ford, Fisher.

This is not a sexist article. There have been unfair artcles, but this is not really one of them.

Your unreasonable and mis-reading reaction doesn't do anything to help your position.

      • Posted By: Rosanne1965 @ 06/08/2008 5:22:44 PM

NWClerk--Yes, I read the article. The point those of us who think this article is sexist are trying to make is that there were no articles telling us how Gore or Kerry or any man that just lost an election was going to suffer from depression. It's kind of a given. Did we really need Newsweek telling us the obvious?

        • Posted By: sebr01stl @ 06/08/2008 5:44:33 PM

Actually, Roseanne, Gore was your best example, not Kerry; and, Gore didn't lose in a primary. He lost the close GE, which is different (if you went into the GE with the confidence of your [arty's favorite at least). Plus, he didn't have the added pressure of being the "first" anything should he have won, carrying the mental pressure of all those counting on him to succeed, like Hillary's carried the hopes of all these pre-women's rights, feminist women, and Obama STILL carries the hopes of AAs into the GE. And still, Gore and his camp CRIED when the Supreme Court made him stop the recount, and I, for one, cried with them. So, your logic is flawed. This topic DOES apply to men as well as women, and the article does not suggest otherwise. They would have said the same thing had Obama come in second. It is more pronounced for Hillary, not because she is a woman but because she carries the added weight of the well-known Clinton dynasty, and the poweer and position in the Democratic party. Obama would have been a flash in the pan, had he lost the primary, except for the historical signifance of his run, and still could be, to some degree, should he lose the GE (again, except for the hstorical significance of his run). Making everything about sexism (which either isn't there, or not to the degree which you say) lessens your ability to speak in a free rational dialogue, much like AAs crying racism all the time, when they really should be taking responsiblity for their own actions in so many cases where racism is really not the reason for their failures. And I, as a black female should know, from BOTH sides of the argument.

    • Posted By: sebr01stl @ 06/08/2008 5:08:14 PM

I would suggest that the heightened over/hypersensitivities need to be toned down a notch or two here and everybody just CALM DOWN. The article is not sexist. The suggestion for depression in Hillary was because she came sooo CLOSE that she could TASTE it. That's not the case for the others (white men) whom both she AND Obama knocked out of the race early on, clearly giving them enough time for defeat to be felt as an eventuality/eventual reality. They had enough time to adjust to defeat. That is also the reason why examples such as Kennedy (a man) et. al. losing close races wee given. The depression factor isn't exclusive to females; it's because of how CLOSE she got. The same would have been said of Obama if the results were in reverse. It is an historic election on the Democratic side, which is why it was so covered by the media, unlike Huckabee's and Romney's performances (plus they didn't garner - either one of them - HALF of the popular Republican vote, like Hillary and Barack split the Democratic popular vote). To ignore the historical significance of the Democratic primary and/or to ignore the horserace, edge-of-your-seat closeness of the whole thing, and act like the Republican primaries should hae been covered the same way, or other races between all white men, is PREPOSTEROUS. No one even knew at the onset of this race if both she AND Obama would be knocked out by any or all of the other Democratic contenders due to sexism and racism, as all the rest were white males (Richardson half white and half hispanic). That they were the ONLY two contenders left is remarkable; and, sexism, therefore, was no more the reason for her campaign failure - (Obama's campaign was run differently/different stragedy - focusing on different/caucus states, and more high brow campaign on different theme ("change" vs. experience, i.e. Washington insider/old politics) - plus, he didn't have to let go of top campaign strategists/senior advisors, like Hillary had to let go of Mark Penn, or have Bill sticking his foot in his mouth for him, like he did, stumping for Hillary, and he didn't go into debt) - her failure was no more the result of sexism, than his marginal victory was due reverse racism. It's going to CONTINUE to dominate the media spotlight just because of who they are, a black person and a woman. You can't act like we are post sexist or post racial until we know how this all plays out until the end (the GE isn't yet, and we still don't know yet if Obama may choose Clinton as V.P, still making her the historically first woman V.P., while he becomes the first African American president, should their ticket win the election). As long as history could still be being made here, the media ISN'T going to let this alone. We all just need to take a little breather here.
