Clinton's next battle will be with the painful reality of loss.

THAT ABOUT SAYS IT ALL... 8v{)

Any of you Hillary fans out there that give your votes to McCain will get just what you deserve...4 more years of abuse from the GOP, the party of the wealthy. Obama won this chance fair and square, let's give some thought into what he's been saying before giving the presidency to a George Bush clone (McCain).

    • Posted By: Dr.Marg @ 06/08/2008 3:40:20 PM

John McCain is no Bush clone. He was in politics long before Bush and has taken positions very discordant from Bush. I suggest you read the Congressional Record. It is very real documentation of the business of Congress and the Senate. Your lack of education is showing. Read and become educated. Parroting uneducated campaign slogans does not help America move in the right direction..

      • Posted By: Disenfranchisee @ 06/08/2008 5:19:06 PM

!. Wasn't won fair and square. 2. Was "given" to him by the DNC; who are worse than the GOP. 3. No matter who gets it, it's another 4 years of hell, get used to it.

      • Posted By: Zig Zag @ 06/08/2008 4:56:42 PM

We have - McCain voted with Bush 95% of the time. He was second in terms of missing the most number of votes in the Senate - the guy who was first was recovering from a brian hemmorage. This is the guy you want to be president? And do you think Bush did all this damage on his own? He was just pushing the Republican agenda, which is exactly what McCain will do.

      • Posted By: tired and old @ 06/08/2008 4:04:23 PM

PERHAPS YOU NEED JOHN MC CAIN TO READ HIS VOTING RECORD ?

HE SEEMS TO HAVE FORGOTTEN WHAT HE VOTED FOR------ OLD AGE PROBLEMS ?

      • Posted By: Just Us Plz! @ 06/08/2008 3:47:11 PM

True.. But McSame must appease the Right Wing war, tax, and abortion policies to galvanize any support which is quintessential the same FAILED policies of Bush.

When writing this article Suzanne Smalley and Evan Thomas use many quotes from reputable sources such as:

CNN's Jeffrey Toobin: uses the terms ???deranged nacissism of the Clintons???; ???Hillaryites???; ???emotional??? women.

    Several of her fellow senators???

A participant of the call who declined to be identified???

    Some members of the House???

Someone who was on this call and asked to remain anonymous???

A top adviser who did not wish to be identified???

Another aide, who also asked to not be identified???

A Hillary strategist who did not want to be quoted???

One of them, asking to remain anonymous???

    Some suggest???

An adviser who did not wish to be named???

If I had written this article when I was in school I would have received an F.

All of these anonymous comments from so-called close advisers are not worth much. They are portrayed as being "back-stabbers." This article is speculative and based upon tips from people who are not wiling to speak up in the light of day. Shame on them! And, shame on the reporter and publisher for writing the study based on rumor and inuendo. This could have been written fro an historical perspective. What is the record of presidential candidates who came so close falling into depression? There are no facts or evidence suppiied here.

We, each of us has made past mistakes, we voted from some lam brain presidents, who have placed us into debt to foreign countries, diseccted any future relationship with the Arab world in favor or Irareal . We need a change, Hillary or Barack will give us that, just Hillary would have come with better cridentials and experience. But change is better than what we have now.

Thats all the media can talk about is Hillary. Its over so move on to the issues at hand. Why don't you focus on Obama. Obama is a dud, radical, extreme liberal, woman hater, follower, and will damage this country if elected. I'm a Democrat and supported Hillary 100% . In November, I will vote for McCain along with the other women and non-racist people who know exactly what I'm talking about.

Outraged is the word! This article had NEVER been written if it was Obama that lost! "Can`t treat a man that way!"
This just shows what Senator Clinton has been battling all these months - from the media and others. It is outrageous! And she`s still keeping her passion for politics and America alive, and throwing her full support behind this young, inexperienced colleague, in a very gracious way.

I think women - although I love the opportunity to have a say in this chat room (and I really hope the people in Newsweek read it, too!!!!) - that there should be groups working against this kind of bias journalism, and women should join together again; we`ve been sleepwalking for years! A group to start working for Hillary`s comeback in 4 years would be great. And also include the younger generation, so they can spot what is going on here - instead of just voting rock star....

Depressed, yes and with a great deal of sadness. Perhaps if Senator Clinton had left the campaign earlier she would not have so many unanswered questions - the whys, what ifs and what might have been. Any loss is difficult but something at this level would be difficult for anyone. Time heals to some extent but we always remember.

  • Posted By: Disenfranchisee @ 06/08/2008 4:52:52 PM

If offered the VP, I hope she turns it down. The next president is going to have such a mess to clean up that like Hoover, will be blamed for the deepening recession/depression that' will hit. That's the depression you stupid people should be wriiting about. This woman has stood up against far worse than this race. She has more guts and integrity than journalists can comprehend; she'll be back. The Howard Dean's and the rest of the DNC are the biggest group of morons. Lets face it, it's awfully hard to soar like an Eagle when you have Turkey's on the team.

  • Posted By: independentchick @ 06/08/2008 4:52:28 PM

I am sorry retrothyme. Did you read the entire article? Every other example the author gave of a person suffering depression was a man. This article did not make the reference that she would be depressed because she is a woman but because of the total subjugation of one's live and everything in it to gain the office. I am a woman and I believe we need to get away from labeling everything that is not a glowing affirmation of Hilary Clinton as sexist.

  • Posted By: eagle 1 @ 06/08/2008 4:51:30 PM

I have never seen so much bias, slander and Hypocrisy in the media towards the Clinton's in my 63 years of life. How can you comment about seniority when Obama hasn't achieved anything in the senate, and his only credentials are community work and a promise for a change to what?

  • Posted By: 4mygirl @ 06/08/2008 2:25:10 PM

As a Hillary supporter, I am very dissappointed that she did not receive the nomination. But I am a Democrat too. I'm not ready to put a Obama bumpersticker on my car, but I do realize the importance of getting the Whitehouse back from this Republican train wreck. I would encourage all of Hillary's supporters to take a breath, consider the alternative of 4 more years of failed Republican policies and attitudes, and put your "game face" on as Hillary asked us to do, and vote for Sen. Obama in November. The stakes are too high! We can't let the Republicans to continue to ruin this country. We as Democrats must take the Whitehose back. Please take this to hearts and minds, and vote Democrat next Fall.

    • Posted By: Zig Zag @ 06/08/2008 2:40:08 PM

Well said - no one expects the Hillary supporters to immediately jump to the Obama camp - just don't jump to the McCain camp. Take time to consider - after all, it's still five months before election day.

Good for you. I am proud of you and salute your intelligence and thoughtfulness. We will win over hate and ignorance and bring hope to America!!

EVER FEMALE IN AMERICA SHOULD BE OUTRAGED BY THIS ARTICLE!!!

  • Posted By: MG of IL @ 06/08/2008 4:47:41 PM

Depression, yes and a great deal of sadness, too. It would be hard for anyone, let alone at a near accomplishment of this level. Perhaps Senator Clinton would have been better off leaving the campaign earlier rather than fight so hard for something she obviously was not going to win. Now she is left with so many unanswered questions - the whys, what ifs and what might have been. A loss of any kind is difficult and emotional losses, personal losses can be the hardest to understand. Time helps heal but we never completely forget either.

  • Posted By: gigispen @ 06/08/2008 2:43:16 PM

Also, people shouldn't assume that every negative post about Hillary or Barack is necessarily from a Democrat. It could just be Republican "divide and conquer" antics. Both of these U.S. Senators should be respected by anyone who professes to have leanings toward the Democratic Party.

    • Posted By: tired and old @ 06/08/2008 4:46:11 PM

REPUBLICAN "DIVIDE AND CONQUER " TACTICS ?

      HILLARY VERY GOP !

  • Posted By: darkhorse @ 06/08/2008 4:45:25 PM

Well its nice to know that years after other men lost in presidentail battles that they also come out of the depression closet. But I dont think this article ever would have been written if just men ran this year. I am trying to understand why "Newswreck" would even think to write something so obviously sexist in this day and age? I would love to have seen the pitch in the meeting room and any self respecting female reporter named Suzanne Smalley who would put thier name on the credit line instead of telling the boys at Newswreck to go /&%¤ themselves. I am not even and Democrat (more of a Republicrat) I find the tone of this article insulting. I think the staff at Newswreck should go down a few prozac and rewrite the article from a more enlightened perspective.

  • Posted By: NWClerk @ 06/08/2008 4:44:29 PM

    @retrothyme:
Did you not even read the article? Every MAN who was in the article was talked about as having been depressed after he lost a big election.---Adams, Carter, Nixon, Ford, Fisher.

This is not a sexist article. There have been unfair artcles, but this is not really one of them.

Your unreasonable and mis-reading reaction doesn't do anything to help your position.

Well, now, syl37via, about blacks being able to vote since the 1800's, that was after passing a spelling test at the polls, after having paid a poll tax. The spelling test began with disestablishmentarianism, and continued until the prospective black voter missed a word and was disqualified, so to speak. It wasn't pretty.

    • Posted By: syl37via @ 06/08/2008 3:20:40 PM

If you will notice, I said legally given the vote, not actually. I am well aware of the historical struggle for it. Women have been doing it since the Garden of Eden. I was born and raised in the NE way back in time, but am living in the SE now, so well aware of prejudice, believe me, and it goes both ways. Am not and never have been. And, at least they had a chance to try, 50 years before women, although Wyoming was an exception. Amazing.

      • Posted By: Just Us Plz! @ 06/08/2008 3:27:17 PM

Wow so a so called chance to vote which didnt exist makes up for 400 years of slavery, being counted as 3/5 a person, the Tuskegee experiments, and the list goes on give me a break.

        • Posted By: tired and old @ 06/08/2008 4:43:49 PM

100 YEARS AGO ABUSED CHILDREN HAD NO RIGHTS; ENFORCEMENT COULD ONLY HAPPEN UNDER ANIMAL CRUELTY LAWS.

        • Posted By: syl37via @ 06/08/2008 4:32:34 PM

Check around the world and see how women are being treated. Don't recall saying that I was for slavery or illegal scientific experiments, etc. Remember those in the Holocaust, not too many Black People involved there as I recall. Manind has been inflicting injustice on Mankind since time began. Perhaps we shouldn't take these comments so personally, as I recall, the forum was on Hillary, not us.
