I am only one , simple , professional Republican Woman, now sadden by what appears to be the democratic party, end dance with Hillary . This classy lady, has survived all that life, both personal and political could throw at her, and she has faced it eloquently & professionally. I think in this game of chess in the political field of battle, the democratic party has missed a hugh support group to help seal the Democratic Election for president, they have under estimated the support for Hillary by a multitude of republican woman, reaching out across party lines hoping to pledge future votes to her. A strong support base of Hillary entirely underestimated and inadequately accounted for. I can say with confidence the large number of astute republican women were willing to give their support to Hillary. Not as an open defiance of the republican party, but as a vote of confidence to Hillary for her tenacity to go the yardage, to represent future change that was predictable and her experience of ups and downs, of relationship building and standing firm.
Barack is a good man, with good intentions, but truly what has he done? What is his plan to take us to that better place, on earth, not in heaven? To move a nation, to move a political machine as complex as the one home grown in America, it takes more than Beautiful Words and a great Smile. With the ratings for the current administration at an all time low, it was a no brainer that the Democratic Party would have prevailed. in the Nov. Elections. But now, we shall see at the poles, fortunately or unfortunately depending on perspective, I will need to go back to the safety of the Republican Party.
We had a chance to do great things, now we have only made a great entre??? into the history books.

on a more postive note ; " Today is the First Day of the Rest of Our Lives , to see our way forward with a common goal , a goal of accomplishing what issues these candidates laid out " . " To not do this would be Our fault not theres , if we do not participate in this process too the finish , so we can at least say we gave it our all , for the Common good of all . "

Senator Clintion is a very remarkable women and leader. She is not going down for the count. In fact by her staying in the race during all the primaries, she allowed every state to have their say, otherwise the reason behind having primaries would be a joke if the media can cut off an election process in February. If she had conceded any earlier then eveyr state in the union has a right and responsibility to do what Michigan and Florida did in moving their primaries up so that their voice and votes matter. Senator Clinton allowed every vote to matter.
The media needs to wake up and realize they have to quit making the news and only report it in an unbiased manner. The media threw this election to a very inexperienced candidate and this country will pay the price for that. Don't be surprised come Nov 4 how many of us centrist Democrats will be voting for a centrist Republican with experience and leadership..

You make it sound as if a centralist republican is the same as a centralist democrat, which is completely untrue. With the exception of health care, Obama's platform is essentially the same as Clinton's. but you're going to forget all about that and vote for McCain, who on most things takes the exact opposite position as Clinton. That makes no sense at all.

Every time I read "I will NOT VOTE FOR OBAMA for some dumb reason or another, I know this person has received false information and thinks things about Obama that are just not true, or they're just a racist. IF you care about the U.S., stop believing/spreading lies and go to Snopes.com and look and see the truth. I DARE YOU. Obama is the best thing this country can possibly hope for. GROW UP and WAKE UP. you left wing writers always on the attack--your second rate speculations are completely off base--Senator Clinton knows she has tremendous support and also knows that magazines like yours and other ultra liberal rumor sheets have made sure we will vote for McCain --- the Democrats have been betrayed by you radical left wingers--you did not push for the best candidate!! and you will not enjoy Nov results!

    • Posted By: Just Us Plz! @ 06/08/2008 3:15:53 PM

So you support not choosing the best candidate by again not choosing the best candidate...Compelling and a complete fallacy "Doc"

  • Posted By: ubunibme @ 06/08/2008 3:15:37 PM

Hillary was and is the better candidat amongst the three who remained in the race until her concession speech on Saturday. This is now and was engineered to be a "shoe-in" for McCain. That's the way the rich and not so interesting Republican party wants it and they shall have it. I just hope that the democratic voter turn out in numbers so copious that the Goofy Old Party gets a little scared in the process. If not now, someday, CHANGE WILL COME!!! Praise God!

Let's teach the MSM and the DNC a lesson and vote McCain!

Hillary will be back in 2012!

    • Posted By: ming57 @ 06/08/2008 2:19:15 PM

I feel sorry for those of your ilk. I too supported Hillary but she lost. For someone to support McCain and his Bush ideology is pathetic when your heart is democraic. Just because your choice lost is no reason not to support the party unless you are a true republican and believe in what McCain stands for. Then by all means, go ahead and vote for McCain. Just remember you reap what you sow. You will not be hurting anybody but yourself.

I won't vote for Obama because I don't like what he stands for. He's an empty suit with a microphone. He has been elevated by the MSM, especially MSNBC and NBC. I looked at the issues and the character and I decided I won't for Obama based on that. No matter how hard they try, they can't shove Obama down my throat. Just because so many people believe Obama's empty words doesn't mean I will. There is more to governing than a speech.

Hillary should keep her chin up. She accomplished an enormous feat. She didn't beat Obama but she almost did. I support Obama but I would have voted for Hillary against McBush. I commend Hillary supporters for their valient effort. One thing certain, we're all united now. Lets destroy the GOP!

After reading your article on how Clinton will deal with defeat, I have to say, simply, you people make me sick. It almost sounds as if you're not satisfied that she has "lost" the nomination; you apparently need to feast on it somehow. Why don't you get a life and give the American people a gift by shutting up about Hillary for at least three months. I've known people who kicked dogs who weren't as mean spirited as you. Really, you make me sick.

Though I agree with you and this article was written sheerly for news, what about the other candidates mentioned, it seems a lot of people are self servingly calling foul.

Depression - the media is depressed - you all turn me off completely - make up any story to make the headlines - you're all a bunch of morons who need a life. Leave the woman alone - she is stoic, she is articulate, she would be the most wonderful President of the USof A

Hillary will always be a winner in my eyes....All the male pigs that wanted me to conform to their ways and to worship them DID NOT HAPPEN in my eyes. The Hillary women always made sure my rights as a white woman were taken car of..inclusive of wearing skirts in the south, when pants were brought down from the North and the NOW created my ethics as a professional woman in the South. She is my mother of civil rights and always will be....I just feel very sorry for the women who were exploited under white man ruling and the conformed because they did not have Hillary education that they too have rights to not expose thier bodies and be little disgraces to society. They did not have the proper role models as young ladies. My role models were firm...Hillary Clinton, Gov of Kansas, and Olympia Snowe, US of ME. Good bless America that I had the correct role models to establish my career as a woam. I never had an affair with a married man, I never exposed my body to the men @ work, and I never dated or had intimacy with any client of consumer while I was working....That says more than words can say about Hillary Clinton...She is a really good woman and she is human just like we are. I will vote for Obama now because I believe he has enough education and he is interracial so he will make matters fair here in Aemrica for all people....anyway, we are // "We the poeple". I am as of this article no longer a reader of Newsweek! This is a shameful title. Show a little respect. Maybe your magazine does not truely respect women and therefor should not have any women readers.

    • Posted By: Zig Zag @ 06/08/2008 2:47:48 PM

Why don't you try reading the entire article instead of just the title? The point the ariticle is making is no matter who you are, at the end of a campaign in which you didn't win, there are going to be some tough emotions. I read the article and took away from it the message - Don't expect HIllary to be energetically supporting the democrats right away - she needs some time for herself.

  • Posted By: abbychloe @ 06/08/2008 12:36:32 PM

Boohoohoo...this woman has the world by the tail - she's rich, obviously and without reason a political "icon" in the minds of many, has a healthy child, and a seat on the Senate for years to come. Pleasepleaseplease, get a grip and get over it. There are so, so many out there suffering and truly would have a reason for depression. You don't. So glad you're out of the race, Hill...couldn't stand the thought of another Clinton in the White House. 8 years with Billy-Jo-Bob was enough for me and my family...GO MCCAIN!

    • Posted By: jncc1701 @ 06/08/2008 1:06:24 PM

Yeah go McCain, at 71 he will be using a cane shortly (he can't fly a plane or perform brain surgery but he is expected to last 4 years in the White House) - just the kind of president we need with the economy in shambles, a stupid war that will cost our grandchildren, deficit. But then voting Republican is a religious edict - right?

      • Posted By: abbychloe @ 06/08/2008 1:31:13 PM

Didn't say anything about religion, did I? Yup - would much rather have a 71-year old man with morals, ethics, and a clean past than a man who we don't even KNOW. For heaven's (no pun intended) sake, he's a FRESHMAN senator. Twenty years with Reverand Wright is enough for me...and resigning AFTER he sees his polling #s drop? ... and that's just for starters. Obama's going to pull us out of our spiraling economy, stop the war? WHAT A JOKE.

Nope, not a religious edict at all...just simply making the very best choice available. But I appreciate your trying to pull religion into this...must be from the far left, right? You, I'm sure, are an "evolutionist." Have a great Sunday.

        • Posted By: Just Us Plz! @ 06/08/2008 1:58:11 PM

Wright is not on the ballot... 20 years at a church he hardly attended pales in comparison to 100 years of war.. JFK didnt have great experience either but I guess he wasnt a great President???

          • Posted By: abbychloe @ 06/08/2008 2:11:55 PM

Wright is not on the ballot? Wow - thanks for informing me. Wright has a DIRECT reflection on Obama's character and you know it. Wright married Obama and baptized his kids. Sounds like a close relationship to me...and yet Obama was never at church when Wright was crucifying America. Now that's a handy storyline, dontcha' think?

And yes, JFK was a great Prez; however, he didn't have the "associations" Obama has and continues to have with MORE THAN questionnable characters. As far as I'm concerned, there is NO comparison between JFK and BHO.

            • Posted By: jjmn @ 06/08/2008 2:47:06 PM

True, Barack Obama is faithful to his wife. Hillary Clinton hardly has any more experience than Obama has and Obama put together the best campaign staff NATIONWIDE in the history of U.S. elections. Hillary's was a disaster. There are many things that go into experience. One of them is wisdom and another is learning how not to lead with your ego. Obama is a brilliant human being. I am thrilled he's running.
