The three blocks who let Hillary down:

The Media: The need to outthink the bloggers meant that the media toed in like with populist thinking which they found on the WWWeb. The educated were blogging and the media took a count of the number of positive blogs and went with that. They were almost surprised by the middle America those darn Blue collared workers- They almost proved the media wrong. But they hardly buy newspapers anyway and the Media continued to pander to thier vote base ---The (not so) almighty Dollars.

The Race votes: Clintons always thought that they were Blacks first and Caucasians later. They under estimated the power of blacks to back one of their own. The Clintons are still hurting on being shunned and outcast by their adopted tribe.

The women: Clintons thought they had wrapped this up. But fount to their horror that the dial had turned 180 degrees. The young woman no longer are excited about the 'female' power. They are into 'flower' power, Clintons inability to attract their imagination of the 20s something, hurt them.

I don't agree about the women part of this. I am a middle aged white woman and I didn't vote for Hillary because I didnt' want any more Clinton shenanigans in the White House. We need someone in government who will not LIE to us, vote for war, send us to war and say racist things. Hillary was never a person that I admired or trusted, and her husband is totally out of control. Obama '08

I agree. It seemed when her husband got in the White House, she forgot HE was the one elected and she started campaigning for "her" health care reform. And if you see pix of the family, Bill is the one walking near and holding Chelsea's hand, not her mother.

To abbychloe as a regular church attendee with the Mayor of Denver, Lt. Governor, City/County Clerk, and 2 City Council persons as members I attest politicians are ONLY regulars during election season. If Wright is a reflection on Obam then the Priests who molesete are reflections on Catholics, Neither of which is true!!!

    • Posted By: abbychloe @ 06/08/2008 2:39:11 PM

Interesting...I'm sure a lot of politicians are only regulars during that time; however, I believe that the biggest sinners / hypocrites sit in the front row of church every Sunday.

The difference: Wright voiced his obnoxious, anti-American opinion very loudly and quite frequently in church in front of his blind-sheep followers. The general catholic population didn't know about the molestation incidents and the perverse priests were identified and were promptly removed from the pulpit. Please know I'm not arguing about what the priests did - disgusting, disgraceful and unforgiveable. However, I think there is a BIG difference here.

      • Posted By: Just Us Plz! @ 06/08/2008 2:44:43 PM

I dont think the difference is significant rather one of personal and preferential application, it is easy for the masses to associate all of Islam with fanatics but they would never imagine doing the same with the KKK and christianity, do you honestly believe that any candidate would support Wrights remarks or that Obama hates America?? Who is a better available choice?

People are upset over how Hillary was treated by the press?? Outward sexism??? What about the selective hatchet job and racism directed at Obama? How can you debate with those who won't vote for him, not because of his policy issues, but solely because of the color of his skin?? This discrimination works both ways and it's appalling either way you look at it. Women will need to judge policy, not gender.

I am a woman. I am over 50. Guess what I didn't like Clinton because she was Clinton. I am sure other people felt the same way. No woman bashing or any reason.
My best laugh came when she tried to put money in a coffee machine that didn't take it.
She is just out of touch with the common people. She is just plain out of touch.

I could ditto every comment you made and add one. Haven't we had enough of the Clintons?

At the end, Hilliary made a come back because she start shoiuting, " I am Woman hear me Roar!" and she got away from the issues. And she start getting sympathy support.

Obama ran a disciplined race and never shouted, "I am BLACK and I am Proud! and stayed with the issues and he Won the people with substance.

The media cut both candidates and Obama handled it well.

Hillary, you are a hero. You have captured the hearts and confidence of over 18 million people. You are the winner. I have 4 grandaughters who will never forget what you have done for girls and women. You will always be looked upon as the most intelligent, steadfast and brave in your beliefs and commitment to the United States of America and women, middle class, hispanic, poor, gays and all minority's. As far as I am concerned the november election is over. God Bless you and keep your spirits high. You are very loved by many, many people in the world. Sincerely, Lillian

All the sleezebags from msnbc treated Hillary like garbage too bad her staff din't see that coming and happening, Now a respected magazine tries to paint her like some self pitying old hag .How about giving the Lady some respect, after all she did poll 18 million people

    • Posted By: Zig Zag @ 06/08/2008 2:41:38 PM

That's not what this article is about at all - maybe you need to read it again, assuming you even did it in the first place.

    • Posted By: Albert1690 @ 06/08/2008 2:25:18 PM

I cannot agree with you more.

      • Posted By: Just Us Plz! @ 06/08/2008 2:38:18 PM

The media has not been friendly to any of the candidates, and as they all have blundered and had gaffes, can we blame them?

  • Posted By: syl37via @ 06/08/2008 2:41:04 PM

My first reaction to this article was--PLEASE-- GET A LIFE !!!!! A little late for commiseration, isn't it!!!! But, this Classy Lady will weather this storm. She has been through much worse as we all know. Had an inspiration as all this unfolded. The African-American vote was made legal in 1800's. It only took us another 50 years to bestow that priviledge onto women. We are all so naive. Just babies in history, really. That said, we still are the oldest active Democracy in existence, so all in all, guess we shall prevail. You Go, Hillary. The Best Is Yet To Come! I repeat, what a Class Act Yesterday was. I watched from start to finish. Love Ya. Oh yes, just read your comment terrifrances. Wonderful.

  • Posted By: Just Us Plz! @ 06/08/2008 1:48:41 PM

Wow.. I hate to engage the race comments but 90% of blacks voted for Bill and would have supported Hillary had Bill/Hillary's campaign not have tried to paint Obama as the "Black Candidate" and second coming Jesse Jackson, further he is not one of "their own" as he is Half white lest we forget!!!!

    • Posted By: abbychloe @ 06/08/2008 2:22:13 PM

Tho' we differ on much, I'm with you on this. He is 1/2 white! And Billary did paint him as the "Black Candidate." Be careful - you get what you wish for, Billary. BTW, why does Obama not claim he is Caucasian - isn't claiming "African American" a "slam" on white people? Maybe it is...hmmm...But I suppose that's a whole 'nother debate. Have a nice day.

      • Posted By: Just Us Plz! @ 06/08/2008 2:27:54 PM

As he talks about his identity search in his book and being a biracial person, racial identity is assigned more than it is chosen and when has he ever stated that he was African American???? He talks about barriers to blacks at times but not in reference to himself.

        • Posted By: abbychloe @ 06/08/2008 2:40:46 PM

You know, I think you may be right. I truly don't know when he verbally acknowledged being "African American." Touche.

Hillary Clinton is an amazing woman and there's no ceiling that she can't break. This primary season wasn't about sexism. It was about strategy. Hillary will continue to do great things because that is who she is. So I hope that she doesn't let politics make her question that in any way. There's too much work that needs to be done and Hillary is too dedicated. She'll be back on agenda within a week or so...

  • Posted By: Albert1690 @ 06/08/2008 2:23:49 PM

This article is extremely disrespectful; very disgusting "press" work.

    • Posted By: padaken1 @ 06/08/2008 2:36:38 PM

I agree, news reporters? NO, NASTY SPIN DOCTORS living down to every low expectation one could have of them.

  • Posted By: AmericaToday @ 06/08/2008 1:19:23 PM

This is so outrageous. This is the perfect example of sexism so often talked about by Hillary supporters. Did you have an article for Edwards' depression? She just gracefully endorsed Obama even though she could have taken her fight to the convention-and she still gets no respect-especially from Newsweek. Why even pretend to be a news organizations when you are so clearly biased? It's a joke. McCain 08-Hillary 2012

    • Posted By: jjmn @ 06/08/2008 2:36:26 PM

AmericaToday, how much is the McCain camp paying you for posting 144 emails. I guess you get points towards a McCain t-shirt or something? Really good job of selling hate and horror. What really does your candidate offer except for more war? What do you offer except for hate and no hope? You are all that is wrong with this country right now. We need to come together and stop the hate. Obama'08

Get over it, Hillary. peopl;e didn't want a woman as president. instead of crying, help Obama win in November. Your husband ruined your chances as being president. You ought to divorce him and get on with your life. We don't want another republican in office. look at what our liar Bush has done in the last eight years. McCain will do the same if he gets in office. McCain is a liar, just like Bush and we have had enough of that. Bush ruined this country. It's going down the toilet because of him. If Mccain gets in, he will do the same. Republicans are for the rich. Obama will straighten out all of our liar Bush's stupid mistakes. We want opur country back, so vote for Obama in november.

Go to Snopes.com, go to the Obama page, and see that all the stuff the republicans have been saying behind closed doors, and in hideous emails is JUST NOT TRUE. They are lying to you because McCain is Bush in a smaller jacket. They have nothing to offer but scare tactics, so they bring out the fear and make you believe all these falshoods. READ THE FACTS. Obama is a great man. www.barackobama.com

Ignorance really is bliss... Who is the best remaining candidate??

P.S. It is not John McSame-Bush

  • Posted By: Vickie1ok @ 06/08/2008 10:36:39 AM

Newsweek, you just keep insuling the people who voted and support Hillary Clinton. In the end, you and the other Clinton haters in the media will cost Senator Obama the election. I know it would never occur to the media that we voted for based on the issues and her remarkable record in the Senate. You are so out of touch with Americans, which tells me you live a way too comfortable life. Senator Obama will not win the elction without getting back Clinton supporters, I promise you. At this point I will not vote for either candidate. Deal with it.

    • Posted By: ming57 @ 06/08/2008 2:32:04 PM

Once again, your ego is getting in the way of your logic. how selfish to put the country through another 4 years of republican rule because you are mad and your candidate did not win. You will only hurt yourself. If you have kids go ahead and gleefully send them to the middle east to fight McCain's war. Do you not see what is hapening to this economy under republican rule. If HRC supporters are that stupid its a good thing she did not win.

HILLARY CLINTON IS A TRUE SURVIVOR AND WILL RISE AGAIN FROM THE ASHES, YOU JUST WAIT AND SEE!

  • Posted By: Freeze Tag @ 06/08/2008 2:17:19 PM

Hillary Clinton made history with her campaign, and I believe she'll continue to do so for the remainder of her political life. Of course the media has treated her unfairly, even with a dash of sexism at times. I believe that she is strong enough to handle anything, as she proved while on the campaign trail and during the latter part of President Clinton's term in office. In the words one of her anonymous aides, "She isn't going to crawl under the covers for the next six months. How many times have they danced on her grave?"

We have no accurate or common frame of reference when talking about men and women. Both sides have misused and abused their roles for long that it seems to be at the point where hate (from both sides) is the order of the day. There's nothing wrong with being a woman, nor is there anything wrong with being a man. OUR problem is that we have misused and abused who we are. The fact is that neither men nor women had a choice as to whether being born male or female. While we adults engage in this divisive dialogue, we seem to forget that our children, whom we say we LOVE, are little boys (soom to be men) and little girls (soon to be women) are picking up our images of hate and divisiveness. They are at the age whereby we're teaching to be civil (hopefully), while we are acting out just the opposite - hypocrites we are.

I was teaching a college couse several years ago, and one of my female students made the statement: "Sir, why is it that women can't seem to find any men who have integrity or sense of honorable commitment". I asked this student if she had any children. She replied, "yes, I have a son". I then asked her if she was teaching her young son principles of honor and integrity. She had answered her own question. The point was that the day would come when some other woman might be asking and/or have the same opinion about her son after he had became a man. We seem to forget that in our hateful and uncivilized discussions about each other that we're actually talking about some other parents children; and that, somehow, that is okay as long as it is not our child being talked about.

Perhaps Civil War II, in this Nation, between men and women is in the making!! Perhaps emplosion from within for this Country is inevitable. The terrorists are not really that smart; perhaps, all they need to do is sit back and wait for us to destroy ourselves. Perhaps, Rev. Wright's proclamation ("...God Damn America...") will come true. It certainly seems that we're trying very hard to make him a great prophet.

Hillary bewing human will experience some sort of dysthymia, but definitely not of the sort that is associated with clinical depression. She gave as good as she got...the woman is a throughbred...More importantly, now that push has come to shove, she will campaign vigorously for her party' putative nominee.
