    Hey guys!!! GREAT NEWS!!!!!!!!!!

From today's Gallup: "Barack Obama is enjoying a modest bump in support following Hillary Clinton's exit from the presidential race. The latest Gallup Poll Daily tracking update finds Obama leading Republican John McCain, 48% to 42%, among registered voters nationwide.
Obama has consistently held a lead of five to seven percentage points each night since it was reported that Hillary Clinton intended to suspend her campaign. These represent Obama's strongest showing versus McCain to date in Gallup Poll Daily tracking of registered voters' presidential election preferences."

Looks like the Dems are coming together!!!

Oh wait....there's more........ Obama leads McGremlin by 5 points in the Rasmussen Poll.

    Oh happy days!!!!!!!!!!

    • Posted By: Mimi13 @ 06/09/2008 5:24:36 PM

For Obama, I'd say Hillary is about a 50-50 proposition based on factors like can they actually work together and will Bill CLinton open up the books of his foundation for vetting. If not Hilary, my guess is a governor. I have a favorite -- Rendall of PA -- but there are also good Democratic governors in Ohio, Kansas (a woman) and Virginia, as well as a real mavrick in Montana. Probably others I'm not aware of, too. Bill Richardson would have been a natural -- both executive and foreign policy experience and an entre into the Latino communities -- but I think he might further aggravate the Clinton camp.

For McCain -- don't know. don't care. don't even know who's in the running. Hope he take someone who nails him firmly to Bush policies (Go, Condi) I've read some are hopful that he'll tap Colin Powell -- but Powell's being very cagey about whom he is supporting. After the shafting the Bush people gave him, I doubt that he'd work for another Republican administration.

She was robbed - plain and simple. When no one got to the magical delegate figure it was a stalemate situation. So then it is up to the Superdelegates to decide on the best candidate. If I recall they went on record as saying they would be voting based on the will of the people. If so, the will of the people can only be ascertained on a state by state basis since each state is an independent unit wiith their own concerns (as evidenced by presence of the Electoral College). So to my mind all the Superdelegates attached to a state that voted for Hillary should be in her corner. That is the only fair way in my mind to ascertain the best nominee in November. I am assuming here that the Democrats wanted to win the White House.

For the Superdelagtes to arbitrarily tack their votes to Obama (as if all states have an equal voice in The Electoral College) is downright dishonest. Their actions only confirm to me that they wanted the nominee to be Obama all along. And for what? Why elevate a man who stood by and never lifted a finger to deliver his own people from the likes of Rev. Wright?

The media is curiously silent on this very important point. I wonder why? Any bets that if the shoe was on the other foot they would have been dragging the Superdelegates attention to the Electoral College map and insisting that this is the better process to sift out who is the stronger of the two candiddates? Certainly had they done that they would not be harboring lingering doubts about how to prop up a man so he can be helped to teh finnish line. And Hillary should not be that one since she will be bringing the greater share to the table. Why should women continue to be relegated to supporting actress roles? Let me remind you - we are in the 21st century.

If not Hillary let us go for leadership we can count on. McCain 2008!

      • Posted By: kshortSD @ 06/09/2008 7:41:08 PM

Come on, I'm sure LMAO knows WAY better then the hundreds of Superdelegates who supported Obama. Maybe they support him because they actually like the guy and actually believe he is more electable. Imagine that! A guy who won the most votes, the most states, the most delegates, and raised the most money. Imagine them supporting THAT instead of a candidate who drove her campaign into the ground. It's nuts, I know...

t has been the stated goal of the religious right to appoint conservative judges to overturn Roe vs. Wade for years. Bush is on board with this plan. Every single judge that Bush appointed to every single Federal bench that came open during his tenure was a right wing Christian conservative. The Democrats were stymied when the GOP controlled congress, and Bush got to appoint two right wing Supreme Court Justices.

First Bush appointed John Roberts to replace Sandra Day O'Connor when she stepped down. When Chief Justice Wm. Rehnquist died in 2005, Bush appointed Roberts as Chief Justice, and then filled O'Connor's empty chair with Samuel Alito. Both Roberts and Alito are Catholic, and both are outspoken against abortion.

Bush has appointed two of the nine Justices, including the Chief Justice. The current Supreme Court has been sharply divided on a number of high profile issues, including abortion rights, affirmative action, eminent domain, gay rights, the separation of church and state, sovereign immunity, and states' rights. The number of close votes in cases involving these areas suggests that a change of one or two key justices could completely shift the thinking of the Court on such issues.

Right now there are four Justices who are elderly and will soon either retire or die. The next President will get to appoint at least two new Justices. If the next President is McCain, those two will both be conservative right wing Christians. McCain has publicly PROMISED to do this, and explicitly said that his goal is to overturn Roe vs. Wade.

Most Americans, even most Republicans, value the separation of church and state. That clause is in our Constitution to protect us from exactly what is going on in America today! Allowing any religious group (especially a radical one) to control the interpretation and application of our laws in the highest court in the land is NOT democratic. Nor is it wise.

I don't care if you are a disappointed Hillary supporter or an undecided Independent or a Republican or are pro-Obama. ANYONE, regardless of stripe, needs to vote against a candidate who had declared his intention of appointing partisan judges. Judges are supposed to be impartial. That is the basis of our legal system. Without that, you might as well live in a dictatorship, without recourse to law.

Although it is a closed case, I can figure out that at the start of the presidential nomination campaign those who dislike Sen Clinton and still said some nasty things about her are those narrow-minded individuals and do not touch reality. She has achieved historic feats having earned 18Million votes on her side and the first woman to make an attemp ton the US presidency. Think of how she electrified the nation with her prowess and eloquence as proven in her political experience as legislator. Truly she is made of good quality stuff harnessed by lot of hard works and strong commitment to serve. Someday, the nation will wake up to see a first woman president and her name is Hillary Rodman Clinton.

Obama has thus far proven only one thing- change for change's sake is never a good thing. Since when did disrespect, sexism, and hate become positive things in America? I won't be bullied into voting for Barack "Empty Suit" Obama. Hillary was our only shot and the Obamabots blew it.

Family and Medical leave act, Head start, Bioterrorism Preparedness Act , No Chlld Left behind (Bush would have never gotten this without Kennedy) th PROTECT Act provided funding for AMBER Alert notification systems along U.S. highways. You get the point.

I feel sorry for all of you osama supporters. I really do. I will change my party to be Indepedent. This article alone shows how disgusting and sexist the leftist media is..as well as the democratic party. They chose to back the wrong candidate...and b/c of that...I will not back them on this election. We need a president that loves their country unconditionally..even if they themselves aren't perfect. Unlike Obama who said if it came down to it, he'd support the muslims over the white...yes he said this in his book. Surprised? Probably not. In denial? BINGO!

At this point...really dont think anyone can change the way this country is going. Hillary I thought was the better canidate for the position because she has more experience. As for Obama...four years in "government" is just not enought. I dont think Hillary could make drastic changes either but willing to take my chance with her!

Barak Obama is the Democratic Presidential Candidate. Funny that everyone still wants to talk about Hillary Clinton. I guess it's because this primary race has shown everyone, including her, just how much power she has gathered on her own. She may have lost but there are easily 18 million reasons everyone in the Democratic leadership is going to pay strict attention to everything she says, wants and sponsors. She lost this bid for the White House but in the end she may indeed be the big winner. I'm one of the 18 million and I am also one of the 28% of that 18 million that will be voting for John McCain.

    • Posted By: Deadrea @ 06/08/2008 11:37:26 PM

If you really are a Hillary supporter don't jump over board just yet. You don't have to abandon the ship. This IS NOT OVER you still have the option to write in your candidate of choice in the final election. If ALL of Hillary's supporters write her in on the final ballot (you can do that in the independent slot) it will be pretty hard to ignore 18 million plus votes for Hillary Rodman Clinton... don't ya think??? Join me and lots of other and write her in.

That's a great idea - throw away your vote by writing in for Clinton. But if that's how you want to protest a very fair primary - be my guest. At least it is better than a vote for McCain.

Actually, according to the New York Times today, the number of Clinton supporters who are going to vote for McCain has dropped to 18% - the number keeps getting smaller and smaller as more people come to their senses. Despite her disappointment, Hillary would not want you to vote for McCain - and if you do, then you're really not a Hillary supporter, or a democrat.

OBAMA SUPPORTERS: The only time I promised myself that I was going to post Obama related (not so flattering) stuff was when I saw a board of bloggers totally attacking Hillary and/or Bill Clinton. With Obama having won the democratic nomination and with Hillary endorsing Obama on Saturday in her speech I thought things would calm down and that obama supporters would cool it on the Clinton dissing. Guess I was wrong.

So don???t blame me for this. And oh, thanks for making the divider within the democratic party shrink, NOT..

Why won???t Obama campaign deny ???Whitey??? video?
June 04th 2008 Posted by Infidelesto
If the rumors are false, Why doesn???t the Obama campaign just come out and say so? It???s pretty weak when all Michelle Obama can muster is the ???Don???t trust bloggers because people lie??? comment she made on Monday.
I???ve been waiting and waiting to comment on this and see if the Michelle Obama ???Whitey??? video tape rumors actually come true. I did not want to jump on the rumor bandwagon so fast like everyone else, although I must admit that the last couple days have changed my mind. At first I had a hard time believing it, especially after what Michelle Malkin brought up about the credibility of Larry Johnson, the man who has been fanning the rumor flames from the beginning.
Now after hearing Bob Beckel mentioned it on FoxNews and John Fund of the Wall street Journal chiming in on the rumors:
???Indeed, rumors are swirling on the campaign trail that a new video will soon surface featuring Mrs. Obama appearing on a panel with radical speakers during which she makes more controversial statements.???
A TownHall blogger also claims Rudy Giuliani???s team acquired the tape.

      (Continued from my blog above)

More rumors came out today about what is actually on the tape:
The Michelle Obama Rant Tape was filmed between June 26th - July 1st 2004 in Chicago, IL at the Rainbow/PUSH Coalition Conference at Trinity United Church: specifically the Women???s Event.
Michelle Obama appeared as a panelist alongside Mrs. Khadijah Farrakhanand Mrs. James Meeks.
Bill Clinton spoke during the Conference, as did Bill Cosby and other speakers, but not at the panel Michelle attended.
Michelle Obama spoke at the Women???s Event, but referenced Bill Clinton in her rant ??? his presence at the conference was the impetus for her raving, it seems.
For about 30 minutes, Michelle Obama launched into a rant about the evils of America, and how America is to blame for the problems of Africa. Michelle personally blamed President Clinton for the deaths of millions of Africans and said America is responsible for the genocide of the Tutsis and other ethnic groups. She then launched into an attack on ???whitey???, and talked about solutions to black on black crime in the realm of diverting those actions onto white America. Her rant was fueled by the crowd: they reacted strongly to what she said, so she got more passionate and enraged, and that???s when she completely loses it and says things that have made the mouths drop of everyone who???s seen this.
The ???tape??? is a DVD that Trinity United sold on its website, and possibly offered free for download up until March 2008 when Trinity???s site was scrubbed and the DVDs were no longer offered for sale.
So, there???s still no tape after rumors said that it would drop today, one day after Obama secured the nomination. If I were Rudy Giuliani I would hold onto that tape until October and let people jar back and forth about it until then. No use in releasing it now. The media will do everything in their power to squash the story from Americans minds just like they did with the Rev Wright, Ayers and Rezko. There???s no use in helping the Obama???s by releasing the tape now???Wait till October please!!!

Come on, look a the URL "Infidels Are Cool". Don't embarass yourself this way. You were one of the more rational Hillary supporters on this blog. Don't let the fact that there are some irrational Obama supporters on here cause you to compromise your own integrity.

          • Posted By: sharenews @ 06/09/2008 6:33:24 AM

Yeah, but like I said every candidate's supporter has their threshold (as much bull they can take) and when (in my case) I start seeing 2, 3 or 4 leads ot URLs accusing the Clintons being associated with being responsible for the killings of at least 35, more, people over the years at least in at least 2 blogs on this site (this after hearing that Obama won the democ. nom which we already accepted), what the h*ll is anyone thinking that I dont have the right to respond approriately as to a response?

            • Posted By: Zig Zag @ 06/09/2008 6:22:15 PM

Well, whoever said the Clintons are responsible for the deaths of 35 people is just stupid. Just don't combat stupid with stupid. Call them an idiot, ask them to prove their point, but don't fight one idiot statement with another. You're to smart for that. It's O.K. to lose control once and a while - but remember, that is exactly what the people who post moronic messages want you to do. Don't give them the satisfaction.

          • Posted By: sharenews @ 06/09/2008 6:16:57 AM

YEAH i though about that, but when I clicked on 4 urls on another blog on this site and found 4 sources in which they were accusing the Clintons of distinct ties into them being involved into the killing of at least 35 or more people dying during their time in the Whte House that was enough to set me off.

      • Posted By: sebr01stl @ 06/09/2008 12:04:47 AM

khadijah Farrahknanad, that' the name I couldn't remember vefor in my post. he's the one on the board of a palestinian PEACE org with Obama, which would explain why Michelle would be on any panel with his wife. sharenews, to "not want to jump on the rumor bandwagon so fast," then why did you? You just DID. Two wrngs don't make a right, even if you feel that Hillary is being wronged/mistreated. LIES aren't being spread about her history, like Clintonistas are ding - have been doing - with Obama. Why didn't you VERIFY yourself, "FACT OR FICTION," before posting. Do you think your beloved Hillary would stake her reputation on campaigning for him, if she KNEW these false rumors about Obama to be true? Let's face it, her dirty politics were just that, POLITICS to try to get the nomination, not the REPORTING of TRUTH, disclosing of info., but smear/fear tactics which you have just bought into. How sad. Your candidate, who now fully supports the effortsof the nominee, for the nomination that she failed to get, would not be happy.

        • Posted By: sebr01stl @ 06/09/2008 12:30:02 AM

Michelle Obama said it right: never trust these blogs, hoax emails that put forth "info" that you can't confirm at their websites or those of reputable news sources (which RepubliFox News is NOT). He said/she said sh*t is no way to determine an election.

          • Posted By: sharenews @ 06/09/2008 12:54:24 AM

Of course Michelle would say that. And rightfully so. But then in many cases there are some truth to some of these things we hear. Look at the whole issue of the Obama church controversy. Through the exposure of the Rev. Wrights sermons we learned that Obama attended this church for 20 yrs which was all focused on the belief of Black Liberation Theology (explained on the church site: www.TUCC.org ) which as we have witnessed to be an anti-americian, anti-white radical religion. With the most disturbing part of it not just having the Rev Wright conduct hateful rantings in his sermons, but to have witnessed how engaged the church membership itself approved of such radical sermons by laughing, yelling stomping, clapping to sermons that Rev Wright and guess speaker Father Pfleger have made in Obamas former church. I find not feasible to think that Obama and Michelle just sat in those pews and did not react to hateful sermons like this while the who church membership shouted and jumped up. Plus this church honored Farrakhan for some type of prestigious award . Makes me think that such a tape being talked about ranting the whitey word might be true as being talked about after her having absorbed sermons like these all those years. But hey, thats just me. LOL.

            • Posted By: sebr01stl @ 06/09/2008 1:58:49 AM

Again, shareinnuendos, fear/smear/hate, snippets of sermons do not entire sermons make, let alone 20 YEARS worth of sermons. Why did the Clintons have him (Wright) at the White House during Bill's administration, after his Monica Lewinsky affair, if he was so abhorrent and abominable? Why is it that so many white people act like it's racist for black people to even SPEAK of wrong things that white people have done based on racial bigotry, that to love themselves and have black pride (rather than the self hate that white racists would love for them to internalize) amounts to nothing more than hatred of white people? It's not either or. BLT is Africa-centered, but not hateful of whites. Anything else you've read to the contrary is patently FALSE. They reject the notions of the "white man's religion" that supports the enslaving of their people or racially discriminatory practices against them, and white racist notions/ideas of God, opting instead for black pride instead of the self hatred that white racists would prefer for them to adopt; but, UCC is a Christian sect, and as such, they don't hate white people. (hint: Father Pfleger is WHITE). BLT is just an afro-centric leaning on LT as a whole, which focuses on deliverance for the oppressed, especially popular for those who wish to do work among the poor, and seen by many as the core of the Gospel (it was embraced by many Catholic theologians before UCC). You see in Obama what you WANT to see, which explains why you wish to continue spreading innuendo, are easy to condemn him on guilt by association, and are so quick to believe that Michelle Obama is in a "whitey" tape, for finally being REALLY proud of America, that she may CONSIDER an AA for president. Yet, in all that we can be proud of America, some things remain the same, don't they?

I never said anything about not jumping on any bandwagon. The person that wrote the above said that. I gave people the source URL in the second reply area where this was written. I just posted it for discussion purposes. There is no real proof yet as to if this exists. Just like the crazy blogs Im reading about Hillary and Bill and how there are e.g. 32 deaths associated with them (as if they killed them people) when they were in the White House. Crazy stuff.

          • Posted By: sebr01stl @ 06/09/2008 1:04:56 AM

So you exempt yourself rom spreading rumors and innuendo, by stating that these are the words of Infidelesto? How does that get you off the hook? You repeated them here, and by so doing, promoted the ideas as if they were fact that you had researched. You claim you did this because Obamabots are bashing Clintonistas. Did you ever stop to think that, winning candidate or not, Obamabots feel bashed by Clintonistas, startng first with their actual candidate, particulay her 'snub' of him by not even MENTIONING him meeting the mark on June 3rd? Since Obama ALWAYS dealt with Hillary with grace, even to the point of deferring to her on the night that HE got the delegates needed for nomination, making it "HER" night and congratulating her after every win, compared to Hillary calling him elitest and casting doubt on his Christianity ("he's a Christian... as far as I know"), and the ultimate, praising MCCAIN after herself as best choice (what Democrat does that???? she could have praised herself as best choice without invoking McCain; now the Repubs are using it against him (and her, if she's elected as V.P., making her look awfully strange and insincere endorsing a candidate that she formerly disdained, endorsing MCCAIN INSTEAD - she acted as if she were SURE to win this, that this scenario could never arise. Obama didn't act as if he HAD to be the nominee, wihout surpassing in delegates; and, even then, he said "not yet," when asked if he were the nominee, until he actually "clinched" it). Why did your Democrat attack a fellow Democrat like a Republican would? That's what Obamabots can't quite get; otherwise, it would all just be politics (nothing personal) in a fair fight, good race run, go with whoever the winner is. You're right, so much for party unity, and that's what started the rift in party unity, IMO. If Obamabots are spreading lies/rumors about Hillary, apologies for them on behalf of all Obamabots; but, how does spreading rumors and unfounded stuff about Obama help that? Why not just attack the anti-Hillary smear at the source, rather than returning wrong for wrong? Obama may not have been your first choice (or any choice at all), but that doesn't deny the fact that Hillary dissed/mistreated him and encouraged her followers to do just what they threaten to do by endorsing McCain. Even with her stumping for Barack now, i don't know if she can undo the damage that she's done; and, he could have pleasantly surprised you, unfortunately. G-d help us all if McCain gets elected because of this.

I'm disappointed, I thought you were above this kind of crap. Soon you'll be agreeing with that idiot Concerned Canadian.

      • Posted By: sharenews @ 06/09/2008 1:25:04 AM

Well you know ZZ, I can take only so much of crappy Hillary and Bill Clinton bashing (and thats AFTER Obama is already the dem nominee) and they STILL post sh*t about them. If anything Obama Supporters need to be focused on going out of their way to do things like, oh, I dont know , maybe post some informative info about Obama side by side next to McCain stuff so we can at least LEARN something in these post; Thus my disgust and yeah, posting something not officially confirmed or not. But then, I see sh*t in blogs all over this site that doesnt even state the source of information. Everyone has their threshold and to still see all this Clinton sh*t continuing even at this point is really disappointing cuz it only p*sses off people like me and divides us further. Sorry, just ranting. But put yourself in my place. You can see how you might lose it every so often.

How about checking out MSNBC's Fact File, culled from AP. It positions McCain right beside Obama on most positions.

          • Posted By: sharenews @ 06/09/2008 6:13:09 AM

Thanks Sebro, I will check it out.

        • Posted By: Zig Zag @ 06/09/2008 1:49:38 AM

Everyone is entitled to a little rant now and then - just don't do it to the point where it damages your credibility. And some of us have been trying to get people to look at the issues. I posted a site address for a very good comparison done by the Wall Street Journal between McCain and Obama, although I doubt many people have taken the time to look at.

Hopefully more will. If somone tells me that they are going to vote for McCain because they agree more with him on the issues, I can respect it. I may not agree with them, but I can respect it.

But when people say they are going to vote for McCain because Hillary was disrespected, because the media was biased, because Obama stole the election, etc. etc. - that's just being short sighted. It's the emotions talking - and this is too important of an election to let that happen.

  • Posted By: IndependentNY @ 06/09/2008 2:04:55 AM

Don't let Oabama supporters convince you that McCain is going to be just like Bush. He is far more liberal, a liberal conservative to be exact. Hillary is a conservative liberal, Obama is a liberal, but really he has no meaningful accomplishments or legislation that we can go by. Just his word on what he will do. And we all know about taking any politician at their word.

    • Posted By: Zig Zag @ 06/09/2008 2:14:56 AM

That's where you are wrong. Do you think Bush did all this damage over the last eight years on his own? It is the president that pushes the party's agenda, not the other way around. Bush has been pushing the republican agenda for eight years and McCain will do it for another four. Just look at how McCain is already pandering to the religious right. As Obama said, somewhere along the line, a few wheels came off of McCain's straight talk express. By the time November rolls around, the train will be completely off the tracks. That you can count on!

      • Posted By: sharenews @ 06/09/2008 2:21:54 AM

McCain is pandering to the religious right? Can you explain a little for me as I need an education about this man. Thanks.

He sought the endorsements of both conservative minsters John Haggee and Rod Parsley (whom he has now rejected and repudiated), claiming that he didn't know the extent of Hagee's views, among which that the Holocaust was G-d using Hitler to send the Jews back to the Promised Land, and that Hurricane Katrina was a divine punishment for a gay parade planned for that day. Haggee's endorsement had been sought for up to 2 years before he received it, only to 'return' it. he had previously called them both "agents of intolerance," before having sought their endorsements. Also, I could swear that in 200 he was pro-choice. Now, he wishes to appoint two conservative Supreme Court justices, if elected, who could possibly help to overturn Roe v. Wade. He says that he is against gay marriage; I don't know if he always held that position or not.

          • Posted By: Zig Zag @ 06/09/2008 6:11:12 PM

I couldn't have said it better myself. Also, McCain is against abortion. He does not support sex education in school, with the exception of abstinence (that alone should tell you the guy is out of touch). If he wins, what kind of Supreme Court Justices do you think he will appoint? And we are going to have to live with them a lot longer than four years..

    CNN go check it out

The economic news seems to get worse with each passing day??? but it sounds like John McCain may not have heard the news. Here???s what he said Thursday in Florida: ???I have a fundamental belief that, I have a great belief that the fundamentals of our economy are very strong, very strong.???

Really, Senator McCain? That???s not what millions of Americans are saying. A new CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll shows 78% of those surveyed rate economic conditions as ???poor???. Only 22 percent say ???good.???

Here are some of the reasons: The economy lost another 49,000 jobs last month, which means more than 324,000 jobs have been lost since the first of the year. The unemployment jumped to 5.5% last month ??? that???s the biggest increase in the unemployment rate in 22 years.

More and more Americans are losing their homes: one million homes are now in foreclosure. The equity Americans have in their homes-their biggest asset-has declined to the lowest level since the end of World War II. Americans??? net worth has declined by a staggering $1.7 trillion dollars.

Then there are the rising costs of energy. For the first time in our history, gasoline now tops $4 a gallon and is headed higher. Oil traded at a record high of $139 a barrel Friday, with predictions of $150 a barrel by July 4 and Goldman Sachs saying it could reach $200 a barrel within two years. The peak summer driving season is just getting under way. These fuel prices impact the cost of virtually everything else.

And, with the nation on the brink of recession, the stock market is taking a hit too ??? declining almost 400 points last Friday alone. The U.S. dollar continues to weaken against almost all foreign currencies ??? declining 15% against the euro in the last year. We are $9 trillion in debt thanks to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and the irresponsible fiscal policies of the Bush administration. And we continue to run huge trade deficits with China.

Some Hillary supporters are crying "sexism" and vowing to vote for McCain in the fall. Since Clinton's and McCain's policies are so different, does that mean these supporters were only voting for Clinton because she's a woman and not for her policies? Talk about sexism...

    • Posted By: Mimi13 @ 06/09/2008 5:35:52 PM

I see it more as a royalty thing, actually. The loyalty to a PERSON rather than to a government or a set of policies is the essence of the feudal system of the Middle Ages. It's the kind of loyalty vassels offered a king or queen. Since the founders of the United States made the decision NOT to have a king, it does seem misplaced. We are supposed to be a government of laws, not people, after all. .However, it takes a lot more thought to be loyal to ideas and policies, rather than a person. You actually have to reason out the kind of person you are, the kind of country you want to live in and what you personally stand for.
