i cant believe how proud some hillary supporters are to vote against their own party. are you mad at obama or his supporters?

I was not her supporter, but didn't hate the woman. The press acts like she passed away or is on her death bed. OMG !!! This so disrespectful of her accomplishments and supporters. Hillary has a so many more things she will accomplish before the press can write her off, so lighten up already. She is a woman who has a family and friends that love her and will help her get through this but when mainstream press becomes the "paparazzi" exploiting every glance and blink they should be ashamed in the name of Journalism. Give the woman some air already! Obama 08
I have just had it with the media "obituary" everywhere you look. It's disgraceful and mean-spirited. I think this is blatant manipulation to keep the party divided and angry. We are fighting each other while McScary is sneaking into the White House. We better wake the hell up! The primary is over and let's not lose focus on what's really at stake: Our Country, Our America. Hillary may not be my candidate but she sure the hell won't want McCain in office. Those have supported her should continue to support her call the get behind Senator Obama. She will continue to shape the policies of the Democratic Party for many years to come and that you can be sure of. Let's stop eulogizing her like her campaign policies are in the garbage, because she's not going to lay down and die nor through work and supporters in some abyss to never be seen again. Give Senator Obama a chance to bring the party together and put her policies in place for the general election. He has stated repeatedly that she will play a key role and thinks very highly of her intelligence. He's no fool , in spite of, how he may be portrayed. Destortion of both candidates have been over the top. Clear your heads Dem and let's get the White House and yes, Clinton is coming too. So look out Republicans, because we see through you.
Excellent, thank you.
I liked your post. Right on the money. Thanks.
I so agree with you, and thank you for your support of her. I wanted Hillary ,so very mcuh, to be the nominee but will throw my support behind Obama for the good of the party, because of her. To 'dis" this woman is the worst anyone can do in our time for how far we have come to break throught the barriers women must jump through. She is brilliant, steadfast and determined.I hope history will reward her and quit the bashing.
I understand your disappointment because I would have felt the same way about Obama, I would never lose sight of McCain lurking in the shadows. It's just not an option. Remember that your not just a Clinton supporter but an American citizen who has had enough of the current administration. Clinton will continue to shape the party with her talents that gave her supporters the enthusiasm to get involved in the first place. Hillary is not going to disappear from the potical scene and Obama should be given the opportunity to mend the hurts. Media is just being divisive and we should not fall for it. We have too much to lose.
Sista, I WHOLEHEARTEDLY AGREE. Do not let McCain benefit from a divided Democratic party. If I didn't know any better, I'd say they planned the whole thing (united we stand, divided we fall). we need unity badly, how strange that that's what Obama has been proposing as platform all along. Hillary has pledged support now. I sure wish her supporters would folow her lead. Don't punish or resent Obama, all for being angry at, and wanting revenge on, the DNC. The candidates don't make the rules; they just have to follow them , especially anything they sign/agree to. People should work to reform the DNC; petition or write in or something, not throw an election where they would have otherwise voted a certaiin party, them vote the opposite party without agreeing with their positions. Only Republicans and Independents who truly believe McCain's platform, message, and the person, should vote for him - (not race, gender, age, etc., and not necessarily resume credentials or experience (because insiders have been messing up the White House for years and some upstarts can do a good job), but how you feel when you listen to what the person says, whether it contradicts anything they've said before or not, especially recently, and how you feel when they say it , whether they sound/feel trustworthy and knowledgable to you or not). If they sound like they're repeating the same old things that you've heard before or are making empty promises, then don't vote for him/her.
thanks
This is NOT about whining. For those of you who think this article is not sexist ask yourself if Obama had lost would there be an article about his "depression"? I don't think so. There would be a lot of articles asking why America is racist if he had lost. That's why the DNC gave this to Obama.
DNC DID NOT GIVE THIS NOMINATION TO OBAMA; HE EARNED IT.
Barely...and not until the VERY END...took him long enough to bring it home...something wrong there.
We talk about respect and then you go and say "gave" what about those who voted for Obama and the scores of delegates he "earned?"
WHAT A NIGHTMARE !
THIS MUST BE THE WHINE CHANNEL.
HILLARY WITCH AND COMPANY.
Gave!!!??? That sounds about as idiotic as HRCs tantrum!! She lost because she wasn't smart enough to win. Then she pulls the gender card to gain sympathy of her weak minded followers. Glass cieling...OF COURSE...sounds like another one of her excuses. Pathetic and desparate....Depression? Well deserved!!!
GAVE???? That sounds about as idiotic as HRCs tantrum! Get real the man earned the nomination!!!
HRC blew it on her own....Glass ceiling my behind. Just another HRC poor excuses for being a loser!
Get over it!!
Obama will have an administration. the only thing which divides him from winning and losing is racism. Anyway, how come he's ablack man if his mother is white.? Give the man some more respect. He deserves it.
Here we go again only this time if you vote for McCain (now that Hillary is out of the picture to do so) you are a racist. Then if Obama doesnt win it will be due to racism. Ugh. Are there some racists that wont vote for him? Sure, but I cant imagine them being the overwhelming bunch not voting for him. You know there are other reasons people dont feel comfortable voting for him: Inexperience/lack of substance, no proven meaty record of accomplishments that he led to fruition (e.g. latched onto group bills, cosponsor bills, very little if any where he was the sole sponsor); Not to mention he has never been truly vetted to the degree of every candidate who runs for president normally does cuz his supporters (George Soros, Murdock, etc.) have doen their best to squelch as much talk as they can about his background, with the exception of obvious controversies that still have not been fleshed out by the media. When in the former church for 20 yrs, he listened to black liberation theology speeches, many filled with anti-americian, anti-white rantings by pastors, but what more disturbs me is that the church members were dancing, clapping smiling, etc. as these hateful sermons too place. What did obama do. Sit in pew with hands folded while the rest of the members jumped and yelled around him? Think not. So dont think that just because everyone doesnt just go out and vote for Obama is a racist cuz there are many people who just have not warmed up to that idea. Or maybe will not at all in the end. After all, it is every americans right to vote for the candidate they feel they will be most comfortable with sitting in that Oval office, for whatever their reasoning is. Its called democracy.
Well if they're doing it ONLY because he's black - or if they're giving a pass to other white males with similar resume/experience or questionable associations, and still voting for them - it's called racism.
Thats all the media can talk about is Hillary. Its over so move on to the issues at hand. Why don't you focus on Obama. Obama is a dud, radical, extreme liberal, woman hater, follower, and will damage this country if elected.
I'm a Democrat and supported Hillary 100% . Why don't you talk about how this country will suffer with Obama. Do you really want a far left liberal. Do you want a Draft? For all of the young voters, we will have a draft with Obama, because this country will be so weak...very weak and some country will attack our interests. Loook at Carter, he wanted a draft and he would of also drafted women.
In November, I will vote for McCain, because he has experience, he is a leader, and can work with both partys. I'm sure other women and non-racist people will follow the same path.
warfare0911, I'm ROFLMAO! You really think that McCain will NOT institute the draft when he runs out of volunteer servicemen to CONTINUE fighting wars in Iraq Afghanistan, and start in Iran? No one would have protested had we ONLY gone into Afghanistan in the first place, seeking bin Laden. Obama wants to END the wars, as CAREFULLY, as they were entered CARELESSLY. Also if you think McCain is the feminist candidate, you really don't know much about him, do you? read up on how he treated his ex-wife whom he replaced with his current, rich barbie Dol trophy, young enough t be his daughter. research his views on equal pay for equal work and what he plans for Supreme Court nominees, re. Roe v. Wade. Further, 16% of white voters for Hillary in exit polls admitted that "race played a factor in their vote." That translates to 'I would never vote for a non-white person.' If those votes are defected to MCain, he carries some of the OPENLY "racist" vote! This doesn't even include those who feel the same but WON'T ADMIT IT. It is absolutely unbelievable that the charges of racist support would go to the AA candidate. LOL Those who support Obama's message of unification (his very PERSON EMBODIES, being bi-racial) DO NOT support the views of Wright, which is what you are poorly trying to imply. Get onboard or get left behind. the country is fed up; change IS coming. Those of you (confused women acting childishly in revenge against their own feminist best interests, perpetuators of smear, hate, racism, and "experience" addicts who refuse to take note of vision, previous successes with limited experience and past failures from some of the "experienced") who try to thwart Obama's attempts to get this country back on track domestically, with regards to foreign relations and our collective image to the world, and promote ecology, etc. will GUARANTEE that "change" in the next four years when you ENSURE that McCain CANNOT serve more than one term. Reagan/Bush Sr./Quayle got twelve before the tide HAD to turn to Clinton/Gore. Bush/Cheney/McCain won't be afforded any more of the same, especially with our safety at risk (in which case would we be more likely to be attacked again? at peace, or constantly picking fights in a tumultuous region, stirring up strife and instability among those who HATE us??)... YOU do the math!
Question for you, How do you explain the fact that Bush has never had to bring back the draft to fight the wars we are in right now? Maybe because there are enough patriotic folks out there that are ready to VOLUNTEER to serve and protect you so you can stay here safe at home and whine about everything?
Yes they are patriotic. Too bad they were sent out based on LIES. And the commen was to the poster regarding who would be MORE inclined to re-institute the draft, a president trying to CONTINUE war , or one wanting to end it. You do the math - why would a president who's ENDING a war need a draft? Stop trying to change the subject! My post in no way condemned the patriotism of the soldiers (which is commendable. considering that they are dying more so for Bush' greed for OIL, than to protect us), and you can't sit behind your computer and comdemn mine - you don't know me!
I have to wonder what you have done today to get off oil? When we stop buying it then troops stop dying for it. Put your money where your mouth is.
So you think it acceptable for them to DIE for oil?? Wow. i think it acceptable, if they so choose, to die, if need be, to protect us from terrorists intent on blowing us up, but not for OIL. What a waste of human potential and dreams, so young to do with such great ambitions (and young families starting out, in many cases). You're so pessismistic if you've come to the conclusion that it's okay to die for oil.
Wow, do I hear the sound of fear that perhaps the King Obama will LOSE in the GE?
The Obama supporters should have thought about this before throwing their FULL and blind support behind him. Have you realized to late, that the 'stronger candidate' to run against MCCain, is going home?
There is fear in this post that McCain will bring back the draft, when he wins in Nov. This is how our country ensures our American Freedoms, so why should we be afraid to serve our country? What made you believe that Obama had not already thought of this? DId you not realize that Obama had already planned of a way to bring back the draft? It's a hidden draft written into the '$4000' college incentive fund (we do something for you, and you do something for Uncle Sam) he is offering each H.S. graduate. Welcome to the new politics.
There's no fear in my post, only sadness, and you have missed the point. I will not be intimidated by your chants of "chicken." I stand by my vote. I was referring to the poster who said that Obama would bring back the draft, that given his and McCain's positions on the war, that would make more sense for MCain to do than Obama. I am saddened if resentful women choose McCain, not because I regret my choice or feel that Obama is the wrong choice (I do NOT), but because I feel that MCCAIN is the wrong choice and that these women would not be voting the issues or their convictions (wrong rationale for casting the vote). Nice try though.
That's sad that we have so many "Cult of the HILLBILLY" followers... I can tell by your uninformed comments that you are one of these ignorant, uneducated HICKS who, all of a sudden, gets interested in politics (a typical, once every four year nut job)... '
Let's be honest... Instead of acting like you know what your talking about (it's obvious that you are rationalizing your racism), why don't you say that, you won't vote for THE BIG O, because he is BLACK... Honestly, you would be more respectable if you just said that, instead of pretending like you even have a clue, as to what goes on in politics...
ANY ONE WHO HAS DONE THEIR HOMEWORK, KNOWS THAT, JOHN MC'CAINT WAS ALLOW RELEASE BY HIS CAPTORS BECAUSE HE HAD GAVE IN TO THE HAZING AND GIVEN OUT VITAL INFORMATION, REGARDING HIS FATHERS COMMAND AND THE ACTIVITIES THEREOF... MC'CAINT IS A COWARD AND A TRAITOR (they would have toss hisazz in prison but he was an admiral's son)... The sad thing is the fact that, those Vietnamese hazed him so badly that, THEY MAY HAVE CAUSE A PERSONALITY SPLIT... That phart doesn't know if he is coming or going... MC'CAINTS PSYCHOLOGICAL ABILITIES HAVE BEEN IN QUESTION FOR MANY YEARS, IN WASHINGTON... THEY DROVE THE OLD DUDE CRAZY... HE IS ACTUALLY ANOTHER, REAGAN'esq PUPPET, to BE CONTROLLED BY THE "EASTERN ESTABLISHMENT" (I'm sorry, I forgot who I was talking to, we both know that you have no clue as to the meaning of that last term:)
If you can jump from HILLBILLY (you probably are one) to MC'CAINT, then so be it... Your DUMAZZ and the service rendered, are surely not needed, nor considered and most certainly, given ZERO WEIGHT...
INSTEAD OF BASHING OBAMA, YOU BROKE HICKS NEED TO VOTE, YOUR WALLETS AND NOT YOUR HEADS OR HEARTS (those have most certainly stirred you and your lives, IN THE WRONG DIRECTION:)
Having been a conservative (back in my less enlightened days), I can tell you now that, it would be totally HILLARYous to see your DUMAZZ, attempt to fake your way through a serious discussion on any political issue... You are the kind of voter that, the other side, always wants to push over to, THE OTHER SIDE:)
SO LONG MEL... HAVE A GOOD TRIP... If MC'CAINT KEEPS GETTING THESE MORONIC CONSTITUENTS; BARACK IS SURE TO BE OUR COMMANDER-AND-CHIEF...
GOD BLESS your ignorance:)
Typing in caps does not make your point any more lucid.
I am sorry have you have been a tortured POW? How do you know what you might say or would not say if you were to walk in his shoes? So until you have been a POW, please dont judge someone who has been.
Our family will be right behind you in the GE to make our VOTES COUNT THIS TIME FOR MC CAIN, the DNC can say what they want about unity sorry they lost us when all the chatter was Obama with NO EXPERIENCE. After the last 8 years you would have to crazy to want someone in the white house with little existing experience. It seems awful strange that 4 years ago no one wanted John Edwards in office because he lacked experience but this time around its OK to try and put INEXPERIENCE in the White House!
Why lie about voting for Mccain, thats who you voted for in the primaries thus thats who you are voting for in November, IF you have the gall. Its obvious many Barack haters are undercovers REPs to begin with , with an intend on stirring up contraversy to coral Hilary supporters over to Mccain. Hilary does NOT = Mccain in ANY way
You should problably state facts if your gonna accuse him of being a women hater, which he IS NOT! You would be better off saying you dislike hime because he is black then making blank accusations.
Please Remove "MORAL-FROM today's Lesson" posting as objectionable , vile, and inacurate as well.
Also: His spiritual mentor Wright, captured him during his community activism days, encouraged him to become a Christian (he was agnostic before, since mother was agnostic/atheist, formerly muslim father was atheist, and formerly muslim stepfather was atheist), to be more relevant/authentic in his work for the church and surrounding community. It is Wright's well known and oft heard from the pews SPIRITUAL views that Obama found inspiring (not his more bombastic, racially divisive views); and, as much as he's on the road and missing church services, Wright' s POLITICAL views were NOT heard as frequently, nor were they as controversial as they have become RECENTLY (Wright was putting out a book, competing for attention from media coverage, over that gotten by most famous parishioner, Barack Obama). He knew Obama wouldn't agree with his POLITICAL views and didn't care what it would do to his campaign just so long as he sold his book. It is logical fallacy to say that Obama sat listening to what was LOOPED in SOUND BYTES for 20+ years, as if the entire sermons were the parts that the media played, or that all, or even most, of the sermons were in any way controversial/had any controversial words in them at all. There is a church community there where much good was done for the poor and normal people worship, which would be hard to leave (Obama eventually did, due to media scrutiny) the place where he married Michelle and had his daughters baptized. It's so hypocritically unfair for us to judge. Many church goers may hear things(often politically charged) they don't agree with from their pastors, but that don't drive them away if they are infrequent and not so fundamentally opposed to what one believes as right/wrong (like saying it's okay to molest children, which one would be totally offended at, and would question whether the pastor was even a Christian or not/cult). Differing political views (questioning the government or another's patriotism) rarely interfere with one's religious views especially if infrequent because they are live and let live types of views for the most part and not core/central to Christianity (how many churches house both Republican and Democratic Christians in the same sanctuary - if politics, even strongly held, were allowed to be that divisive, Christians would have to change churches practically every election cycle!; and, Christians are Christians first, Americans second).
I watched Writghts speech at the press club and it was more than an attempt to sell books. As a white man I was saddened by the venom he spewed intertwined with brilliant analogies and very deep insight. Reverend wright is a brilliant man who I believe has come to the wrong conclusions by looking at biased data. He believes White America is somehow against him and all black people and he is wrong. I wish he would turn his analysis inward and back to God and I believe he could do a lot of good for a lot of people.
I didn't see that on. i saw the NAACP one, but I heard that the Club one was way out of line. my mom told me that he was "preening." Obama could be dealing with a pastor, a once brilliant and deeply spiritual man, who has now lost his bearings. It would explain the "how could he for 20+ years" question if Wright didn't START OUT that way, especially if Obama really hasn't been in church that regularly for the past year or two (which, I suspect, he hasn't).
Right, he's a practicing CHRISTIAN (who didn't get that from the Rev. Wright fiasco?) He took his U.S. Senate oath of office on the Bible, not a Koran. And he wasn't schooled in madrassahs, but public and Catholic schools, and that only during the four years that he was in Indonesia from 6 -10 years old. He USED to wear a flag pin, then stopped to protest politicians' refusal to back bills that supported the troops when they returned home (insisting that patriotism amounts to more than just sporting a pin on a lapel), and now wears one again (to dispel thoughts that he is unpatriotic). He places his hand over his heart during the reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance, but NOT during the singing of the National Anthem (who does?).
More: Not only is Obama not unpatriotic, neither is ex-Marine Wright, though his most racially divisive views were actually indictments on institutionalzed racism in the American government, rather than being actually racist against white people themselves (Rev. Father Michael Pfleger is a colleague). One doesn't have to agree with Wright's political views; he still has the patriotic free speech to question and criticize HIS government. Ayers did his dirt when Obama was a child (about 6 years old); Obama's association with him on a charity board had nothing to do with Ayers' 60s hippie dirt, radical lifestyle then, or political viewpoints at the time. Rezko did dirty dealings, but his deals with neither Obama nor Rod Blagojvech (sp?) were dirty; Obama has nothing to do with Rezko's indictment. Emil Jones is a fundraiser who didn't politick like Obama politicks, but who has raised money for Obama before. Another character name I've heard floating around is another board member, with a palestinian group for peace relations with Arab Americans, hoax e-mails about him floated to make Obama look terrorist or anti-semitic. Yet, it is a PEACE organization; and why does peace for Arab Americans have to entail hatred for Jews? Can't they BOTH have peace, as it should be? As Rodney King said, "can't we all just get along?" Please help stop the spread of these pernicious lies, race-based fear/smear campaign, and let's stick to the issues.
At her Baruch College event in NYC just a few days ago, Hillary Clinton added her name to a Major League Baseball that was inscribed by the famous New York Yankees catcher Yogi Berra with the quote: ???It ain???t over till it???s over.??? Bill Clinton also signed his name to the ball. A photo of it can currently be seen on ebay. This Yogi Berra quote summarizes the essence of the Clintons??? drive to win and their spirited campaign style. Don???t count them out from politics just yet.
When Obama's popularity is dissected, the one thing that people say is that they see their best selves in him. That's all we need. We do the work anyway. We just need a leader that we can see our best selves in, someone who will energize us to do all the tough work we need to do. The work ahead of us is so serious - whether addressing health care issues, mounting foreclosures, food, energy and water shortages, climate change, etc. We have to get past this political battles and work together. I am ready. Are you?
So we can just put whatever personality we want on the guy because he has none of his own? Its great that you want to work together with everyone. I am a republican will you work with me? I am afraid its an empty promise the only way Obama will work with me is if I agree with him on how to solve the problems and since as far as I can tell he has yet to offer a single solution other than we need to change I don't know where he stands and neither do you. Its very dangerous to project your ideas on someone and then turn over the country to them trusting they think like you do. Look into what he wants to do and see if its what you really want. I think you will discover that his theology is scarry and his social activism leans towards socailism. Im a free market kind of guy myself.
Not in your lifetime with Obama.
Obama is the cult of personality. His affiliations are just to strange for me to swallow and if his past serves as any indication of who he is...I would say he represents change...but not the kind of change he is selling through his mouth.
Amen!!
This is based on the idea that Hillary Clinton has any feelings. She doesn't , only a massively egotistical sense of entitlement which is undeserved and her own hubris and narcissism.
So verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry true.....
Texas gal, I'll bet you've never worked a damn day in your life, wear a big blonde bouffante hairdo and have an African American or Hispanic maid to clean your house. Suck up to your rich Daddy and make him another drink before he goes to his big oil meeting. Pathetic.
hate to tll you thisdear but i'm a single mom and i work 60hrs a week get real!!!!!!!!!!!
Blah, blah, blah, yet one more Obamanator with a bad (seeminly uncurable) case of Clintonian Syndrome.
Hillary Clinton must show her supporters that she is not a sore loser. We are done with the Clintons. For what they have done in regards to damage in the 8 years of Bill and the history of Whitewater, I hope they just go away. Their money in the bank has questionable history and I believe that have done more damage to US than any President to date, including George W Bush. Ask China. They may have all the answers where their real money came from.
You really think Bill Clinton did more damage to this country than George W. Bush? I have to say, that's a first on this blog. I thought Bill was a great president, and Hillary a great first lady. The Monica scandal was definitely an embarrassment, but more so to Bill than anyone else. But overall, he was good for the country. But George W. Bush ... are you serious?
Yeh, do bad the Clinton money is not in OIL like Bush, perhaps we could pay $8.00 a gallon Wake up, all politicians have their bad side, some worse some not. But not all presidents kill our children in a senseless war. Lets??? hope the next Democratic Presidency can take this country to a Healthier Political and Economic Environment from where we are at today. I do not want to carry Yen's in my pocket.
Hillary made lots of money in Cattle futures back in the day maybe shes been playing oil futures lately anyone paying attention?

This is kind of directed to Lori & rhonda who evidently didn't see Hillary's speech. Hillary said the following about Barack. I have thrown my full support behind him. He is the way we can achieve the goal we've all worked for. She went on the cover his career from Community Organizer to U.S. Senator. She say she had been toe to toe with him for several months and admired his Strenght, determination, Grace and Grit. she waited until today for the obvious reason. to gather those together that worked for her and to thank them and to asked them to support Barack as they had her with all of their energy. Rhonda and lori, if this doesn't satisfy you please tell me what will?
I raised my 2 children during the Clinton administration years. I was very sad to think how when I was a kid the POTUS was someone you looked up to as a moral figure besides a political leader of the country. Remember all stories of George and Abe. I did in depth research on my favorite president FDR in college.
Sadly, my kids had to ask me why POTUS was being impeached and why he was having affairs while married etc. My two kids both vote now and you can bet your bottom dollar that they won't vote for Obama if Hillary is on the ticket. Yes, I know FDR had affairs but they weren't splashed across the national news. Different times. However, as far as I know FDR, JFK and the others did not go on national media and lie to the American public when asked directly about their affairs. Nor did they loose their license to practice law due to perjury. So you ask , "What does this have to do with Hillary?" I would have had a lot more respect for Hillary if she had left Bill's cheating bum after the Lewinsky affair. She is no role model for women, I don't want my daughter to think that is a marriage, that it's OK in anyway to tolerate a husband who cheats on you then lies about it and does it over and over and over again. Call me old fashioned but I would like the POTUS to be a moral compass for the nation as well.
P.S.. My son-in-law is currently in the Green Zone in Iraq. Says the troops do not feel Hillary could effectively negotiate with leaders of countries who do not recognize the status of women. It's not their culture to respect the thoughts or ideas of women. The troops favor Obama is what I hear.
SAME HERE LORI !
EXCUSE ME!!!! McCain committed adultery with the very woman who could be the First Lady. How bout them apples you righteous conservatives????
lori: I understand your outrage,.I was never so shock as when I went to pick up my 8-year-old son at a Cub Scout meeting in 1997 and discovered all those little boys huddled together discussing oral sex. I've been furious with both Bill CLinton and Ken Starr every since -- they both robbed children of a few years of innocence.. Now that little boy is about to vote in his first presidential election and, yes, he is an Obama supporter. For his sake and for the future of your children, the VP pick should not make any difference to your vote. The alternative is too depressing to contemplate. The contest this year -- as in no other year in my memory -- is about two distinct visions for America, two distinct directions for policy. You can vote to stay on the road we have been forced by the Republicans that has led to a misbegotten war with an undefined end and economic policies that outlandishly favor the very rich and corporations over the middle class, or you can vote for change, a careful withdrawl from Iraq, health care, mortgage relief, the end to tax breaks to take American jobs overseas (whose bright idea was THAT anyway, and how did it get passed???) . Do not give Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky the power to condemn the United States to four more years of ruinous Republican rule. In other words, don't look back; look ahead. Don't vote your past disappointments; vote your future hopes. Please think about this. And I promise to say a little prayer for your son-in-law tonight. May he come back safe and whole to your family.
Thank you for your reply.
I feel a little different about the importance of the VP position this election.
McCain is statistically unlikely to live out his term in office so his VP may very likely become POTUS.
I fear that if Obama makes Hillary his VP that the Clinton's or their supporters could "arrange" for something to happen to Obama so that Hillary becomes POTUS. I have lived throught to many assasinations and assasination attempts on Predidents and high ranking political figures in my life time to be naive enough to think that the world is a wonderfully happy place where everyone lives happily ever after.
If I am understanding you right, that is the most crazy reason not to vote for a potential Obama/Clinton ticket and go with McCain because of it. Am I understanding this correctly?
No I don't hope anything bad happens to either McCain or Obama. But I work in health care and know that the average age expectancy for a man born when McCain was born is. The stress that being POTUS ages every President even faster. I hope nothing happens to Obama because it would likely create civil unrest like we've never seen in this country ever. I still don't trust the Clintons, don't like the Clinton's and want someone other than Hillary as VP Never, ever said I was voting McCain so notu sure where you deduced that from Sharenews.
C
Lorin, sorry, I probably should have been more clear in my post. Thank you for getting back to me so quickly with your explanation. You know how emails are (or in this case, quick read blogs) especially given it is late at nite. Thanks.
So. . .you're voting for McCain because you're betting he'll die in office? Isn't that just a tad morbid? Besides, I wouldn't count on him dying. His mother is 96 -- she might seem a little dotty, but she certainly looks healthy. You actually could be setting up the worst of situations. Remember Reagan already had Alzheimer's during his second term. Nancy and his staff covered for him, but there was no accountability to the voters. (Same situation with Wilson after his stroke when his wife ran the government). If you vote for McCain hoping he will die, you just may end up with an increasingly erratic president and a government that is run by an unelected cabal. Now there's a happy thought!
Why are you so sure you could live with McCain choice of VP, anyway?
And , , ,Yes, Obama is at risk for assassination. Every president is. But, I think there have been a lot of changes in Secret Service practices since 9/11. When I was in college you could walk right up to the front gate of the White House. Now, you can't get within two or three blocks of the place. I've never seen Obama with less than 7 Secret Service agents surrounding him. There will always be dangers -- but you can't live your life based on fear of the worst. Sometimes you have to come out in the light and believe in the best.
Anyway, this could all be moot. I'm not sure Clinton is really in the running. I think Bill has too much current baggage. So far, he's refused to have the books for his foundation vetted. There are reasons why some donors remain ananomous -- but there aren't that many altruistic billionaires in the world. I'm not saying that Bill's foundation doesn't do good work -- it does. But how he acquires the means is just a bit unclear. I don't think Obama can risk having some of Bill's more creative donations come to light in the middle of the campaign. Personally, I like Gov. Rendell for VP -- he'd guarantee PA and probably OH. He's Jewish, so that might help with FL. He's governor, so he has executive experience. And he's a pol, but not a Washington pol -- experienced, but not beholden to Washington lobbyists. That's my pick.
Saw the whole speech. was disappointed
What are your reasons? Just wondering cuz I did not hear one news reporter or political pundit today dis it at all. They thought it was well thought our, respectful of Obama endorsing him, etc. Even Huffington raved about her uniting speech. Reason why Im wondering what part you were disappointed in.
Didn't hear anything I didn't already know... she's not quitting, just suspended (and hoping that something will break loose by August that will allow her to get the nomination) that she's saying what every democrat wants her to say (that she supports Obama) but I don't believe for a minute that she's giving up.
What really got me in a bad mood is that I work late shift, got up early to hear the speech, she was 40 minutes late, news commentary was how this is typical clintons. There time is so important but our time is not. RUDE!
I hear ya there, Im in the same boat as you with shift work and I got up early and was not happy that the speech was delayed so long. Did they say on the news what the hold up was? So I know that did suck.
She was waithing for an end to the Cancer run that was taking place in DC. Not a supporter of hers as you can see by my other posts but I think it was a legitimate excuse. Go Mccain!
Stop this. She is not even the candidate any more. U guys made sure of that. Your journalism is not ethical, ook at the number of anonymous sources you have. Arent u ashamed? Seriously? u guys are on a witchunt here. Dont push the women of America too far!
You arent kidding about unnamed sources in this ridiculous article. I counted at least 5 instances:
1 - You have time to settle this. It's been a tough race, you must be exhausted, take your time'," says a participant of the call WHO DECLINED TO BE IDENTIFIED
2 - Barney Frank, a veteran Massachusetts congressman with a sharp tongue, told Clinton that she should announce her support of Obama "as soon as possible," says someone who was on this call and ASKED TO REMAIN ANONYMOUS
3 - Clinton betrayed no emotion on the phone call. "She's not a voice cracker," says a top adviser who DID NOT WISH TO BE IDENTIFIED talking about her
4 - Another aide, who also ASKED TO NOT BE IDENTIFIED, said: "She isn't going to crawl under the covers for the next six months. How many times have they danced on her grave?"
5 - In her last weeks on the campaign trail, "she had a lot more fun, in a weird way," recalls an adviser who DID NOT WISH TO BE NAMED
You guys are right on with this one what kind of crap is that!!!! By the way Perhaps witch hunt wasn't the best expression from the above post,
WITCH HUNT ?

IF AMERICA VOTES THIS MEN AS PRESIDENT,WE DESERVE EVERYTHING WE GET.
To "Moral"
What you have said is right on. Yes, Hillary Clinton has her share of baggage, but so does Obama! The Obama supporters are so blinded by his flowery speeches they tend to overlook the fact that he has his faults as much as any other candidate. His "denials" of past associations are lies in my book and his verbal stammering on live interviews really shows his inexperience, although he is a "gifted" speaker when he has a script in front of him.
Well said. If you cant work things out with your pastor, how are you going to negotiate with all the other crazy leaders in the world? We need change but not what Obama represents. We cannot be this desperate can we?
You are an ignorant a __ hole. You obviously don't read or subscribe to any credible periodicals. It's ignooramus people like you who should have their First Amendmnet rights canceled.. Obviously you are jealous of this brilliantt, handsome, accomplished man. You probably haven't ever been out of your neighborhood and certainly not out of this country. You are what an author once characterized as "The Ugly American" Go back to school and get an education..Then read..
You know something, your ranting about Obama is almost verbatim of a useless spam message going around the internet. I am a caucasian, college-educated woman. Good thing I didn't have to grade your "spam" on grammar and spelling. Presumptive candidate Obama is a sincere, eloquent individual whose speeches remind me of another fine orator of our generation, Ronald Reagan. I am a registered Republican, however have no intention of voting for John McCain. There is just something about him that I cannot put my finger on. He has difficulty even reading a teleprompter and this could make for four more years of speeches rivaling Bush's. I don't think I could take that. I might have voted for Hillary had it not been for how absolutely awful Chelsea and Bill had been on the campaign circuit. Her smart-azzed daughter telling potential voters "it's none of your business" when, in fact, the activites that occurred in the White House during Bill's administration are absolutely relevant as they are counted as part of the "35 years" of political experience that Hillary claims that she has. Also, her latest tax returns not being submitted for scrutiny by the voting public and Bill's refusal to disclose donors to his library and the sources of his "speech" income are also extremely relevant. America does not want, or need, a repeat of the shenanigans that went on in the White House during the Clinton years (Whitewater, Rose Law Firm, Vince Foster, Monica Lewinski, etc.). And the same people who are claiming that Obama is an unknown entity seem to forget that not too many people knew about Bill Clinton before he ran either. If they did, they probably would never have voted for him or his wife.
My compliments to you on a well written response. Keep posting and reminding people that the Clintons are not the type of people we want in the White House ever again. Not as president or VP.
I think it would be even harder to ignore the continuance of disasterous policies in this country if we elect another Republican because you felt the need to make a "symbolic point" by writing in a candidate you liked better thus undermining your own beliefs.
You could vote Democratic. Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama are the same on 95% of the issues. So I'd have to ask you why you would write in someone the Republican, John McCain, who would be disasterous? Especially when Hillary Clinton politely pointed out any true supporters of hers, who really believed in her issues, ought to vote for Obama.
I do not like the way the media has mistreated Ms Clinton. And I am an Obama supporter! No one with honesty or awareness of what's happened can say the media hasn't treated her like a peice of E Coli filled beef plank. Just wrong! I'm glad Obama showed much restraint and respect to her. He was her target and he was much kinder to her than the talk show hosts and news outlet combined including the title of this article!
I think she has been treated fairly considering the way she has acted. Ever since she started her campaign, it appears that her and that awful family of hers felt a certain sense of entitlement. We need no more Clintons in the White House, thank you.
2008 - McCain wins
2012 - Obama proved he couldnt win in 2008 so out of picture; Clinton comes in after serving as Governor of NY a few years and runs for President.
Hillary Clinton 2012 !
I think you are probably right on the money..or it may just be my hope for the country.
Probably a little of both. Hillary Clinton 2012!
I have and always will respect former 1st Lady of Our Country beautiful Mrs. Hillary Clinton. She is tremendously strong and courageous for what she has done. I pray for her that Senator Obama will
choose her for the Vice Presidential running mate. Too much negativity in this world takes a strong
soul to survive. If Mrs. Clinton or her supporters are reading this message, please let her know that
I, a small town female physician living in my own microcosm in the USA, send her my prayers and love which I hope will rekindle her dream to pursue the presidency again. Always remember, the present moment too shall pass, just like the painful moments that occurred in the past have moved on. Life moves on---we all move on. God Bless.
you spilled some kool-aid on your chin
Evan Thomas never did like Hillary. It was evident everytime he appeared in MSNBC. He always had a superior attitude. I do not know what Suzanne Smalley's problem is.
However what is evident is that the media personnel at Newsweek have become "Quacks".
They not only ridiculed Hillary throughout her campaign. Now they pretend to have the skill, knowledge and possible cure of the causes and mechanism of illnesses that they think Hillary is supposed to be having or should be having or will have :-|
You are so right. This is not the only non-worthy (negative) article written about Hillary, but there have been even MORE non-worthy articles written by these two writers and a few others that have had such a lack of substance they should have been embarrassed as they were just placed on a board within the site to read just to keep a positive spin on Obama to just keep him constantly in the headlines. Like, let me see, Obama catches 3 pancakes on his plate spread out to make it take two pages like it was worthy. Geesh. Get some good reporting on this site.
Give me a break... it's the typical women are 'hysterical 'rhetoric. Get into the 21st century and quit ragging on women and their supposed "weaknesses". Do you think there is ANY man that has achieved success without a strong woman behind him whether it be a mother or a partner??? I think not. i'd like a share of my first husbands PHD that he has attained. hillary is not going to cave. End of story.
She has 18 million people who adore her and respect her. Not "chopped liver". It was a very close race, unprecedented in numbers of votes for a primary election. We are enormously proud of her. We feel she should do whatever she and Obama think best about the VP slot; I want what is best for her and that may not be it. Wherever she is, we will all be fortunate to have her smarts and her drive working for us.
The better question is, "What will the press and the media do now? How will they manage their depression?" They no longer wil have her, we think, to bash around and behave badly. Will they turn the new standard onto one or both of the male candidates now ? Will they review their video clips and take a good hard look at themselves and become ashamed and depressed with their own behavior? They should. We are.
I dont know nana4, but writing articles like this only aggravates emotions trying to heal that the media have contributed too as well as Obama Supporters. Which is why, of course, this board of bloggers for this article is all over the place with emotions. Newsweek, I strongly recommend that you start coming up with articles worthy of reading, filled with substance.
Here we go again. The media can play the sexism card and assume the Senator Clinton will be depressed, why because she is a woman. This whole campaign the media has been easy on Senator Obama and has run with everything that Senator Clinton has done. I am very proud to support Senator Clinton during this campaign, to bad I can not be as proud of the male candidates.
It is not wrong to support Senator Clinton, it is wrong to constantly make her a victim. She lost this campaign because of her and not the media. Is she strong or is she weak? I would think a strong women wouldn't want to constantly be victimized. Is seems strange how some women see sexism in everything. Just becuase she didn't win the nomination doesn't make everyone a sexist.
She fought a hard campaign and lost fair and square by the rules she agreed to. She deserves better than for her supporters to belittle her efforts and place blame on Obama and the media. Why not celbrate her achievements, deal with the grief of her loss and move on?
First of all I am a 50ish year old white woman and have NEVER cried sexism or discrimination. But in this case she was definitely discriminated against because she's a woman. No woman could walk into a presidential race with Obama's resume and not get laughed out of the house! As for fair? How is it fair to discount the validity of two states votes and elect to give votes from those states to Obama who voluntarily withdrew his name from the ballots in those two states - he wasn't even on the ballot - his choice! Then he comes back and says I want .... WHAT? Get serious - this race was a total joke and Hillary was the victim of sexism and name bashing from the very beginning!
Sweetie, you're about two weeks behind. The whole Florida and Michigan debate was discussed to death when it happened - quit living in the past. It's the future that is important.
