In the classic novel, Brave New World, author Aldous Huxley issues a ???warning??? of what would happen if the government took complete control of our daily lives. First published in 1932, Huxley wrote the piece in speculation of how his hometown of London may look in the year 2540, pending the continuation of programs to end war, conflict, suffering, and antagonistic (aka: ???free???) thought. In other words, it is what the world would look like if nobody could utilize their voice, or live how people today want to, free of the iron fist of the various levels of government. Many people criticized Huxley for this, his fifth and most well-known novel, upon its release and still do to this day. Controversy or not, several seeds have been planted in America, which have made for some frightening similarities to this classic piece of literature. Yes, the socialist and communist movements have been around for several generations in America, though it hasn???t taken such prevalence until this one. This is thanks, in no small part, to politicians who are trying to put so many things under the exclusive control of the government. In parts of Los Angeles, for example, crooked elected officials have passed restrictions on where fast food restaurants can set up new shops. Yes, that???s correct; the ???man??? is telling you that you can???t go get a hamburger in South Los Angeles, and you???re going to like it. But, what are worse are state and national politicians, who are trying to take away your access to fast and easy payday loans. This is because the politicians are just trying to muster up enough votes for office, so that they can further their own self-interests. Surely, action is needed to fight the government???s ever-tightening stranglehold on all of us. Not the Party She Planned
Disappointed by losing an extremely close race, Hillary Clinton graciously endorsed Barack Obama and pledged to fight for his election.

The payday loan industry has been the key target for corrupt politicians, from all sides, seeking an increase in voter support at the expense of what???s best for the general public. Governors of several states including, Georgia, North Carolina, and Oregon completely drove payday loan businesses out of their states. The negative effects of driving out payday loan companies from these states, appears to have not been the best idea for its??? citizens. For instance, in Georgia, the bankruptcy filings, bounced checks and foreclosures all grew overwhelmingly after the cash advance option was taken away from them. In spite of this downbeat information, following the closure of payday loans in these states, several other governors continue to try and follow suit. Leading national politicians, such as presidential hopeful Barack Obama, are now making it their mission to eliminate the industry completely once and for all. Should such efforts be judged successful, the possibility is very real for increased unemployment rates, more debt, more foreclosures and an even more crippled economy.

High profile politicians, including Barack Obama, are seeking to limit the American peoples??? access to on-demand, short term financial assistance. Some cities and towns are trying to impose restrictions on where these legitimate businesses can set up shop. Even worse, several states, including Georgia and North Carolina, have successfully imposed all-out bans on the industry, with several more attempting to follow suit. Citizens all across the nation are seeking to have their voices heard by fighting legislation that would obliterate the <a href="http://personalmoneystore.com">Payday Loans</a> industry nationwide; Obama, and other misinformed political officials, are pushing for a complete ban in the name of personal political gain, regardless of the hundreds of thousands of potential lost jobs in an already turbulent economy.

Their desire to eliminate the payday loan industry holds no regard for the people who need financial help in this depressed economy.

With our economy falling behind, the war on terror, pork barreling legislation, corruption, and criminal activity on the rise, payday loans should be the last thing on politicians??? minds. Yet, for some reason, high profile politicians like Obama are focusing on this issue. Some states have banned them, such as Georgia and North Carolina, and more are in the process. Instead of fixing the important issues, they are trying to take out the payday loan industry for personal and political gain. Payday loans are simply for short term financial assistance for the all-American family to cover some cost that wasn???t budgeted or an emergency that they couldn???t pay for at that moment. They provide help to citizens during these financially troubling times with loans that the government otherwise couldn???t provide themselves. Stop the potential loss of thousands of jobs and the loss of a viable financial option by voicing your opinion to the legislature, before a nationwide ban becomes in effect.

The War Secrets Sen. John McCain Hides
Former POW Fights Public Access to POW/MIA Files
April 25, 2000
By Sydney Schanberg
PART 1 OF 2
NEW YORK (APBnews.com) -- The voters who were drawn to John S. McCain in his run for the Republican presidential nomination this year often cited, as the core of his appeal, his openness and blunt candor and willingness to admit past lapses and release documents that other senators often hold back. These qualities also seemed to endear McCain to the campaign press corps, many of whom wrote about how refreshing it was to travel on the McCain campaign bus, "The Straight Talk Express," and observe a maverick speaking his mind rather than a traditional candidate given to obfuscation and spin.
But there was one subject that was off-limits, a subject the Arizona senator almost never brings up and has never been open about -- his long-time opposition to releasing documents and information about American prisoners of war in Vietnam and the missing in action who have still not been accounted for. Since McCain himself, a downed Navy pilot, was a prisoner in Hanoi for 5 1/2 years, his staunch resistance to laying open the POW/MIA records has baffled colleagues and others who have followed his career. Critics say his anti-disclosure campaign, in close cooperation with the Pentagon and the intelligence community, has been successful. Literally thousands of documents that would otherwise have been declassified long ago have been legislated into secrecy.

I thought her speech was excellent, and she went a long way towards recovering some dignity and self-respect. She didn't have to enjoy losing - who would? - but she did have to actively support Obama as the democratic candidate, both for her party's sake, and the sake of her own political future. That's called reality, on both counts, and at the end of the day, Hilary is a realist. She's had to be, married to Bill.
As far as her political future goes, she should hold out for Attorney General. Then she can prosecute Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Gonzalez and Rice for treason against the Constitution of the United States. It would be her most shining triumph, and one she is well suited for.-

Attorney General Clinton?
Interesting idea....must admit I never considered it.
I thought she would challenge Dean as head of the DNC and my wife thinks she should push for UN Ambassador.
Although I'm no Clinton supporter, I cannot help but recognize her (and her husband's) political savvy and ability to draw recover from what appears to be political irrelovence. It's almost Nixonian....
...without that whole paranoia thing! ;-)

Of course Hillary Clinton publicaly with media coverage announced her support of her competition- thats what politicians do. Was it genuine- "hell no". For the first time in her life, (other than Bill's infidelity) in her thirst for power, she was hit right in the gut with rejection and lost. Will she recover enough to continue in politics? Only if she feels there is a strong shot in 2012 and quoating her in her earlier campaign, " I will only run if I think I can win". Oh sure, she may follow the Ted Kennedy's and the Senator Byrd's and sit in congress for years, but never reach the holly grail. That in itself will destroy her. Face it Hillary, the Clinton regime is history, Affirmitive Action has beat you.

Wait a minute....
Are you suggesting that Hillary Clinton is covering her own butt???
UNBELIEVABLE!
Grow up dude....this is politics...there's nothing genuine...it's all about postering and staying "in the loop". McCain did it after gettting the Royal Swift Boat in 2000 and look where he is now.
I have far more respect for her for playing "the game" than I would if she stuck to her principles and mounted an independent run...it's a sign of political maturity.
It amazes my that people don't understand this.
Go Obama 08-

"Clinton covering her butt"
That is exactly what she is doing. You can try and justify her antics and lies all day long, however, voters for the most part have seen thru her ego and entitlement attitude. Hillary was never satisfied as" two for the price of one". She wants it all and power is the name of the game.
It is amuzing to me that she has been beaten by a junior senator (minority) with no experience. That in itself is indicitive of her own questionable self proclaimed experience which included eight years as First Lady. First Lady qualifies her as- "First Lady". She is plastic and phoney, her agenda is Hillary.-
Posted By: joe_mama @ 06/12/2008 5:44:07 PM
Who's justifying anything?
She has no choice but to play the game if she wants to stay relevant in the Democratic party.
Would you prefer a knock-down drag out fight at the convention that scuttles BOTH her and Obama's chances in 2008?
Wake up and smell the coffee....this is politics. If you're looking for genuine, you're looking in WRONG place, my friend.
BTW---
GO OBAMA 08-
Posted By: Jim F @ 06/13/2008 8:43:06 AM
"If your looking for genuine, you are looking in the wrong place".
That I will agree with you on. Politics on either side are never genuine. The outcome is massaged to fit an agenda driven by money and special interest.
Your comment about knock down drag out at the convention is a close reality and may be eventful whether you or I agree or disagree. Why do you think Hillary only suspended her campaign and not concede?
You need to smell your own coffee.-
Posted By: joe_mama @ 06/13/2008 1:54:32 PM
Will there be a fight? Possible, but very unlikely. I'm not a Clinton supporter or aide, and I'm certainly not Hillary Clinton. You may be able to read her mind, but I can't, so I stick with common sense, logic, and the people who seem to know her best. Those three factors suggest that she's trying to position herself for something (still unclear as of yet) beyond 2008. Furthermore I just find it hard to believe that somebody with her experience and savvy would kill her own political career with a fight everybody (except, apparently, you) thinks won't happen.
Don't believe me? Perhaps you'll believe PA Governor Ed Rendell, one of Clinton's most ardent supporters:
"Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell says he expects that Hillary Clinton will concede defeat in the race to the White House by the week's end. Rendell, one of the New York senator's strongest supporters, says there is no chance she will keep fighting to wrest the Democratic nomination from her rival, Illinois Sen. Barack Obama."
(source: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=91155924)
Still skeptical? How about the e-mail she sent to her own supporters:
"I have said throughout the campaign that I would strongly support Sen. Obama if he were the Democratic Party's nominee," she said in an e-mail to her backers. "I will be speaking on Saturday about how, together, we can rally the party behind Sen. Obama. The stakes are too high and the task before us too important to do otherwise."
(source: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=91227032&ft=1&f=1059)
It's odd that she would send such a specific e-mail TO HER OWN SUPPORTERS if she had no intention of pulling through...particularly since her campaign is in debt to the tune of $21 million (source: http://www.latimes.com/news/politics/la-na-money14-2008may14,0,1137125.story) and Obama is flush with cash (in case you didn't know, it's not uncommon for winners to pay the loser's debt in exchange for their support).
Lastly, John Edwards suspended his campaign too. Is he still running? Maybe. Or maybe...
"As expected, Edwards said he was suspending his campaign rather than ending it, but aides said that was simply legal terminology so that he can continue to receive federal matching funds for his campaign donations." (source: http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/WireStory?id=4216608&page=2)
Of course, you probably think he is lying too....right?
Sorry to be so blunt, but you're thinking with your heart and not with your mind...and the coffee smells GREAT--vanilla nutmeg with a hint of cinnamon!
Go Obama 2008

Ted Sampley, who fought with US Special Forces in Vietnam and is now a leading campaigner for veterans rights, said: I have been following John McCain's career for nearly 20 years. I know him personally. There is something wrong with this guy and let me tell you what it is!deceit.
"When he came home and saw that Carol was not the beauty he left behind, he started running around on her almost right away. Everybody around him knew it. Eventually he met Cindy and she was young and beautiful and very wealthy. At that point McCain just dumped Carol for something he thought was better."
John McCain is the classic opportunist. He's always reaching for attention and glory, he said. After he came home, Carol walked with a limp. So he threw her over for a poster girl with big money from Arizona. And the rest is history.
Ross Perot, a billionaire Texas businessman, and a former presidential candidate, who paid her medical bills all those years ago, now believes that both Carol McCain and the American people have been taken in by a man who is unusually slick and cruel -- even by the standards of modern politics. -

The media is only using propaganda everyday to sugarcoat and legitimize Obama. The DNC is just spinning Obama as a viable candidate. Obama has no real solutions for the everyday problems facing America except maybe to raise taxes to pay for his one thousand promises he made. That outta go well !!
The media , the DNC demonized the Clintons for no good reason. It was just a lot of political backstabbing, personal vendetta's and jealousy people had that brought Hillary Clinton down. Its a bloody disgrace what was done. Everyone outside the US liked Bill Clinton. He was respected and trusted. He did more for the African American cause than any other politician and they accuse the guy of racism during the primaries. Thats such a cheap shot. He was a 2 term President who had the US enjoy economic prosperity and he balanced the budget. How can anyone criticize that ? The rest of the world didn't give a rats ass some intern did the cigar thing on him. Who cares. Grow up. Too much is made of sex in the news. Anyway..Obama..this guy is a fraud...he has no real solutions to everyday problems facing America. He's just a preacher and a showman. Just a matter of time some more disturbing church thing, or pastor stuff will come out about his past and its game over for the Dems in November. US under McCain's leadership will be just as well off and if anyone wants to split hairs to convince people otherwise is just wasting their time. Heck ...people are jumping off Obama's ship already...nobody is jumping up and down to be his running mate.
The only thing the dumb Dems accomplished was making Hillary Clinton the Al Gore of 2008..pretty sad.-

I wouldn't have voted for Hillary, and I won't vote for Obama. I'm not going to vote for him because I disagree with his liberal ideals. But frankly, who becomes our next President isn't going to be the disaster the media are trying to make it out to be. And history will show that George W. Bush wasn't the disaster the media made him out to be.
The media figured out a long time ago that if they could put a spin on something and get people all fired up, ratings would go up. So ever time we have an election, the various cabals in the media make Herculean efforts to convince one side or the other that the other side is a demon straight from hell.
They had me convinced Bill Clinton would single handedly destroy America. You know what? It didn't happen. I don't like Bill Clinton and I never voted for him, but I have to admit he did some things right. I think he got some things very wrong, but the end of the world didn't come.
Nor will it come because either Obama or McCain is President. Either of them would make mistakes. But I think the bureaucratic apparatus prevents any President from causing the kind of utter destruction that the media wants us all to be convinced will happen if "the wrong person" is voted into office.
And I find it amazing that the same democrats that were horrified by George Bush winning the election despite Al Gore winning "the popular vote", aren't more supportive of Hillary.
I guess there???s hypocrisy on both sides of the aisle.-
Posted By: joe_mama @ 06/12/2008 1:46:42 AM
While I can't say I agree with you, Smoke I think you make some interesting points.
The one area I'll disagree is over the Al Gore popular vote thing.....
....there are some (o.k. a few) of us who think Al Gore lost fair and square. In all the talk about hanging chads and Supreme Court decisions, people forget two things:
1) Al Gore had 266 electoral votes...4 shy of victory. Al Gore lost his home state of Tennesee by nearly 4 points (Nader got less than 1% of the vote, so he didn't make difference). Tennessee is worth 11 electoral votes. If Gore wins his own home state-- where he was a U.S. Senator and his family are political giants--he wins the race--Florida wouldn't even matter. I will not feel sorry for a guy who couldn't even win his own home state (particularly against a newcomer like Bush).
2) We have an electoral college for a reason (read the Federalist Papers....they're AMAZING). It's to make sure small states get a voice in the election. Without it, you could campaign in CA, FL, NY, TX, MI and a handful of others and pretty much ignore the rest of the country. That's not how our political system works; Al Gore never grasped that, and, based on her strategy of ignoring the caucous states, it appears as though Hillary Clinton didn't grasp that reality either. Sorry Hills, but if you don't know the rules of the game there's no way you're gonna win.
Of course, I don't speak for anybody but myself, but I feel no remorse/shame/regret for either Gore or Clinton. They dug their own graves.

McCain was asked today if he had any idea when the troops would come home, his response was "That's not too important, what's important is the casulties of our troops.
families are stating McCain should no better than to make such statement, it is clear that McCain will keep our troops in the war for quite sometime. With no exit plan he continues to respond by saying they will stay the course. Finally, John McCain was speaking with a group TODAY and tried to quote Obama and was way off base.

Author: McCain Called Wife ***, Trollop
In his book The Real McCain, author Cliff Schecter claims that John McCain made extremely ugly remarks about his wife Cindy McCain during a tirade witnessed by three reporters and two aides. "At one point, Cindy playfully twirled McCain's hair and said, 'You're getting a little thin up there,'" Schechter writes. "McCain's face reddened, and he responded, 'At least I don't plaster on the makeup like a trollop, you ***.' McCain's excuse was that it had been a long day. If elected president of the United States, McCain would have many long days -

Clinton, McCain and the B-word
At a campaign event in South Carolina Monday, a female supporter asked John McCain: "How do we beat the ***?"
If the Arizona senator objected to that particular characterization of Sen. Hillary Clinton, he didn't exactly say so.
Instead, as the room erupted in laughter, McCain said he'd try to offer a "translation." Somebody in the audience shouted out, "I thought she was talking about my ex-wife." There was more laughter all around, and then McCain said: "That's an excellent question."
McCain cited a recent Rasmussen poll showing him with a statistically insignificant two-point lead over Clinton, then finally got around to saying, "I respect Sen. Clinton, and I respect anyone who gets the nomination of the Democrat Party."
And yes, as Talking Points Memo notes, that would be the same John McCain who immediately distanced himself from the comments of his own mother when she took a dig at Mitt Romney's Mormon faith

No one seems to get it, so I guess I should spell it out. The Hillary supporters are going to vote for McCain SOLELY so that Hillary will get a chance to run for President again in 2012. They are neither hypocrites nor are they stupid, they are righteously ANGRY with both the media and the Democratic Party. ( If Obama were to win this year then he will run for re-election in 2012 and Hillary will not be able to run.)

Well don't speak for all Hillary supporters because ALL of them will not support McBush, no one said the Hillary supporters don't have a right to be upset or ANGRY which ever phrase you choose to use. If Hillary would have won the nomination I would have supported her BUT Obama is the nominee and I am a democrat, I will not use my vote which means a lot to me, and give it to a man who I don't agree with on any position.
#1 He will take away the woman right to choose
#2 Our soldiers are fighting a war, that our government held back information from the American people to get us in this mess.
#3 McBush don' t have an exit plan for our soldiers, he is more concerned with them staying the dam course.
Did you know our soldiers suicide rate is up 40% ?
Did you know McBush plans continues to help the richer get rich (check the facts the breakdown is out)
Did you know Obama promised not to accept money from lobbyist, and soon as he was pointed the nominee he change the policy of the democratic party of who they can accept donations from, (he is sticking to his word)
Did you know Obama plan helps the lower and middle class? (his current plan is out see for yourself)
I will not play no games to prove a dam point just because Hillary loss this nomination, there is too much at stake here. Hillary will support this man and we as democrats will stand together and get a democrat in office and now is the time. Although I listen to more and more Hillary supporters who were upset there are many coming out to support Obama, because they are going back to the real issues, I ask you to keep an open mind because McBush has the same policies as Bush who has the lowest rating of a President in History. If you are a democrat I say think long and hard because your vote can make a difference, if you are another republican on this blog undercover causing divison between the parties, I say @##$ never mind. I will keep that to myself

I am a registered independent who voted Democrat in the last Presidential election. I would have voted for Hillary had she won. I am not happy with either the media or the Democratic Party at the moment. I am not convinced that Obama has what it takes to be President, but I can't stand McCain, if Ron Paul had won the nomination, I might have voted Republican, right now, I am undecided.

I am not sure that most blacks were rational as I fail to see the hullabaloo over Mr. Obama. As a black person living in America , I personally think it is a disgrace that folks rush to elevate a man who was complicit in the self-destruction of the black community. For 20 years he sat by and allowed trusting black folks to wallow in the self-defeatism dished out by Rev. Wright. This is the same defeatist thought that is echoed through the African-American community today. Where was the message of "HOPE & CHANGE"? Where was the "YES WE CAN" cry when it was needed most? Who better to transform that backward thinking group than someone unscathed by the 60s? Just think what could have been if Mr. Obama had shown a modicum of leadership (or at the very least walked away). But he did absolutely nothing! Just thinking of his non-action send chills through my bones and evokes a wellspring of sadness that will never be assuaged.
I am even more grateful today that I was blessed with parents whose vision have long transcended race. Failing that, I and siblings could have easily been among the causalities of the missteps and missed opportunities that were there for the taking after the Civil Rights era. The selfless action by M art in Luther who paid the ultimate price is who should be lauded as being a hero "for all of us that have dreams and hope". That is, he did what was right without a single thought of the personal gains (or harm) to himself.
Finally, I would challenge every voter this November to think well on this and ask yourself if you could with a clear conscience give this man a pass - NO I CAN'T. For we become who we are by the folks we look to as heroes.-

LMAO, Please stop with the I am black BS. There is not one black person older than the age of 5 who does not know who Matin Luther King is. Those of us of grade school age or older know that there is a distinct difference between Martin Luther King and Martin Luther. There is no way that you can confuse either the spelling or the message of these two men.
We as black americans are taught about Martin, Malcolm, JFK, RFK and Medgar at a very early age. As s black man you would be very aware of this.

Hey if THOUSANDS more dead AMERICANS gives you a "clear conscience" good for you.

Think of the many thousand Africa American failures (dead & alive) over the past 20 years and tell me which is worst? And the ongoing damage being done today will echo sometime in the future. Can you reckon the drain on the US coffers? I am just simply pointing out the man's hyprocrisy. He is just a plain-vanilla politician and not this messianic type person with a mission to save America. So once you have stripped that away what is left? Are there any substantive accomplishments that can speak to his lofty plans for America(outside the college bit, his parents who happens to be of different ethic background ... )?
You want a real hero in the making? Look at what Bobby Jindal accomplished and he is only 36 years. That is a man who is not mere words but lots of action. Too bad he is too young to run as VP for McCain as he will be a stark contrast to Obama's empty platitudes.
And pulling out of Iraq in a rush will be a political, social, and economic disaster that will adversely impact America for many years. We are on a path of normalization and that is what we should stay focused on. It is not McCain fault that Bush chose to invade Iraq. So anyone who comes after Bush - be it Obama or McCain has to carefully maneuver their way to the exit.-
Posted By: HDavidson @ 06/12/2008 2:00:34 PM
Well that's the ghost story that those who "support" the WAR FOR OIL would like all of us to believe (the disaster that is). As far as "normalization" we can be on all the paths we like, but it matters not if the population and governmant of the country we are pounding our chests in does NOT see the same "path".
Our Marines get less than 6mos training before they are shipped off to WAR FOR OIL, we are on 6 and 1/2yrs in Iraq "training" their "forces" and still nothing. HOW F@#KING LONG DOES IT TAKE or why don't our sons and daughters get that extensive training?
NO BODY HAS SAID PULL OUT IN A "RUSH". We are just not staying for 100yrs, McBush is an idiot and completely clueless when it comes to matters of the Milltary, after he only had 20hrs of "combat experience" (in a jet, not face to face) before he was shot down and captured. He then spent the rest of his time making propaganda films for the VC and smoking cigarettes, yeah he's a wealth of experience...lol
Obama, unlike Bush or McLilBush, will listen to the generals on the ground, not BUSHES "generals", but the real generals, who know it's long past time to get the fudge out.
McCain has NO intention of EVER leaving Iraq, and wants to attack Iran getting us into a 3rd war, while we have not finished the 1st one and the second one should have never happened.
BTW as to your "messianic" claim, don't forget that it was Bush who claimed to be "GOD's President", and McLame who wants to follow in his foot steps.
Do you know the difference between "Ego" and "Confidence"? Bush/McCain = EGO! unintelligent and dangerous
Obama = CONFIDENCE intelligent, mature, restrained, and willing to hear something besides ones own voice.
That's why Obama speaks clearly, honnestly, with dignity, hell he writes his own speaches, McCain can barely read his own speaches.
Believe me what ever choice is made as to ENDING IRAQ and the WAR FOR OIL, it will be done with INTELLIGENCE (something foreign to this war so far), and calm restraint, for the safety of our troops, as far as the Iraqi's guess they better STEP IT UP! Cause we are done policing their civil war.
K, your turn ;)

TO NEWSWEEK STAFF:
This is to report that there is a FRAUD going on, on this site, in which bloggers are using the names of various bloggers (Obama supporters are most likely the culprits) who are fraudulently writing blogs that are deplorable and tagging them under other bloggers names (non-Obama supporters names). I officially reported such a fraudulent abusive use of fake postings that I just viewed on this site today that affected me personally. This is what it said in which the blogger fraudulently used my name as the poster:

Hillary's graceful endorsement should not be the only reason you voted Obama, Obama is the only candidate with similar policies as Hillary, I understand this was a disappointment but someone had to lose and they both should be commended for the hard fought race. Over 36 millions Americans voted democratic, this says so many Americans is looking for change. McBUsh can not bring change that is very obvious. Clinton will work with Obama and so will I, as a long time Democrat we have so much at stake her, and hopefully at the end of the day we will unite and bring a democrat back to the White House,.
Our economy is in shambles, our seniors are losing there home to foreclosure, the gas prices are out otf control, Our soldier suicide rate has rised by 40 %. Voting for McBush is not an option

Being "for Clinton" and being "against Obama" are two separate matters.
Obama supporters think the dems who don't like Obama will "come around"; they think the issues are "emotions", "hurt feelings", "anger". They simply cannot grasp the idea that people think Obama is not qualified to lead this country. I had one young, idealistic blogger who honestly thought no one disliked Obama.
I certainly will not vote for Obama. And I think when history writes about this election, it will be seen as some kind of collective insanity, mindless Obama-worship by the media and most of his supporters.
I think many blacks actually made a rational decision -- they want to see a black president. But most of his supporters are just looking for a prophet and following the media.-

How destructive to the U.S. economy would a Barack Obama presidency be?
An exclusive Newsmax analysis warns: There could be a very rough time ahead.
Beneath Obama's flowery rhetoric lies a dangerous economic plan that will wreak havoc on the American economy.
Obama plans to return to the failed policies of high taxation coupled with an expansion of government spending.
Worse, Obama says he is absolutely committed to almost doubling the capital gains rate ??? something he will easily accomplish with a Democrat Congress.
In the coming months ??? when investors realize that Obama will raise the cap gains rate ??? there could be a stampede of asset sales as investors rush to take their profits now to avoid Obama's doubling of the tax rates next year.
All of these issues and more are explored in Newsmax magazine's special report "Obamanomics ??? the Coming Tax-and-Spend Nightmare," by Wall Street Journal columnist John Fund.
This Newsmax magazine special report gives Americans the first in-depth look at the Democratic presidential candidate's likely strategies ??? and how they will affect not just the larger economy, but your personal wealth as well.
Indeed, Obama makes no bones about his plans to go on a tax rampage. Not only would he increase the capital-gains tax rate from 15 percent to as much as 28 percent, he wants to allow the 2001 and 2003 Bush tax cuts to expire in 2010, which effectively raises taxes on Americans by tens of billions of dollars.
He also wants to do away with the $102,000 FICA payroll tax cap, which means anyone making over $102,000 would pay an additional 7 percent in taxes on earned income.
And the loan dividend tax rate George Bush implemented? Under President Obama it will be DOA!-

Hey Einstein, just FYI BUSH ALREADY TRASHED THE ECONOMY! So not really a big prediction there, it will take YEARS to fix what BUSH F@#KED UP! But they have 2 friends who are around the same age and those friends are having major trouble with their coordination, their kids are discussing having their parents drivers lic. taken away,
McCain is an old man, and his memory is failing. I read somewhere that Ronald Reagan was suffering from Alzheimers when he left office, does anyone know if this is a fact and if so how old was he when he left the WH?

Please open your mind to that fact that third party candidate needs only 34% of the popular vote per state. Nader needs only California, Florida, Ohio, and Pennyslavania to block either Mc Cain or Obama from the White House. Neither candidate could secure the need electoral college votes to become President without those states. It is mathically impossible.
Nader is at 6% now and he haven't been allowed to debate. Perot jumped up 10% after he was allowed to date. If Nader is allowed to debate, he will jump up more points especially if McCain's townhall meeting formate is used. This would allow Nader to debate 10 times before November. He will secure 34% in the Midwest where Obama and Mc Cain are both weak.
Even if he does not win but is able to secure at least one state, it will send a clear message to Washington that the old days of two parties is over and if they do not want lost House and Senate seats in 2010. They have better start getting off their butts and get things done. It will be a serious walk up call in December.-
Posted By: Mimi13 @ 06/10/2008 4:28:23 PM
You keep posting this but your math is screwy. A third party could win with 34% ONLY if the two major parties split the rest of the vote evenly 33%-33%. Not very likely. If the Dems got 35% and the GOP got 31%, the third party would still lose. The last third party candidate to get ANY Electoral College votes was George Wallce in 1968 who carried 5 southern states. Perrot, Nadar, Anderson all got nothing. And the fact of the matter is that parties will control the electoral process as long as we have a system in which a candidate can win with a plurality of votes instead of a majority, or with regard to Electoral College votes, as long as they are awarded wininer-take-all instead of proportional to the vote (two states currently do award votes proportionally).. The hurdles are too high for an independent in most elections. However, if there were three parties and they splite the vote. . .say . . .35% Dem, 34% Independent, and 31% GOP. . .then there would be a run-off between the Dem and the Indy and a thrid party might actually have a chance. But, a plurality vote with winner-take-all will always favor a two-party dominant system -- this is a key rule in political science.

Posted By: loriw @ 06/10/2008 3:53:12 PM
Perot jumped up 10% after he was allowed to date. Isn't he kind of old to date? Just kidding.
I agree that we need to get away from only a 2 party country. More competition is usually a good thing.
Brings different perspectives into the mainstream. Almost voted for Perot long, long time ago. How old is he now? -

We will support you soldiers and get McBush out of office
For you that don't get it and feels McBush will give you a better 8 years I ask how is that when he has the same policies as the current President with the lowest ratings in Presidental history. If you are a democrat and feels disrespected by Hillary loss, I ask you to get pass this as you would fighting with your family, at some point you work it out. The democrats need to stand strong and vote our democrat in office with so much at stake. Here are more facts to why: Please keep an open mind. I don't expect the republicans to give a dam because there motto is to get richer and richer, no worries for our economy, the lower and middle class.
Behind the door of Army Spec. Jeremy Duncan's room, part of the wall is torn and hangs in the air, weighted down with black mold. When the wounded combat engineer stands in his shower and looks up, he can see the bathtub on the floor above through a rotted hole. The entire building, constructed between the world wars, often smells like greasy carry-out. Signs of neglect are everywhere: mouse droppings, belly-up cockroaches, stained carpets, cheap mattresses.Soldiers dealing with psychological disorders of their own have been put in charge of others at risk of suicide.
Disengaged clerks, unqualified platoon sergeants and overworked case managers fumble with simple needs: feeding soldiers' families who are close to poverty, replacing a uniform ripped off by medics in the desert sand or helping a brain-damaged soldier remember his next appointment.
The soldiers feel like they are not getting proper respect. This leads to anger."

As a veteran (1999-2003), former Hillary support and a black male, I feel the anger of many of my Hillary supporters brothers and sisters. Obama has not won me over either and this beliefe that we will all just fall inline because there is no one else better to vote for. It shows me just how faulted this two party system is and how it needs to change.
Every American has to right to vote for the people they believe in. I do feel Obama supports comments in how does this serves the party. My answer is to look at the war in Iraq. We have American soldiers fighting and dying for Democracy. A democracy that is not defined by two parties who have never really cared about the people and have been brought for by corporations.
Obama supporters..I do want change and believe this country desires change. However, I want to vote for someone who is running to become the President. I am not voting for a demigod or a Black Moses who is going to lead/uplift Black Americans into a new Promised Land. Harriet Turman and many other black figures had fulfilled this role and in good part.
Furthermore, this arguement that voting for Obama addresses some great political redress in America can be easily achieved my replacing Obama with a full blooded Native American Indian. No group in America is "owed" more then the Native American Indians. Ironically, we just lost one candidate because everyone said she felt entitled the the nomination. Does not this argument also ring of entitlement?
Hillary supporters. I do agree with Obama supporters in that how does voting for Mc Cain show your support for Hillary and all that she stood for. I will not vote for Obama or Mc Cain. I have decided to vote for Ralph Nader. Why Nader?
1) He has fought for change in Washington longer then either of the other candidates.
2) He is a man of wealth but has use his wealth and position in life to fight for the little guy.
3) Voting for either Mc Cain or Obama will give the winning candidate a false Mandate of Heaven from the America people.
4) Voting for Nader would open the eyes of two RULING PARTIES and the media that the American people will no longer be used and treated like cattle.
5) He is the only third party candidate with 6% of the vote.
6) Voting for Nader is to truly fulfill the dreams of the founding fathers for a democratic nation run by the people, by the people, Not the media. Not DNC or RNC but you and I
In conclusion, please think about why you voted for Hillary. I understand why you refuse to vote for Obama. But you must ask yourself how those voting for Mc Cain improve anything. Please open your minds, hearts, wallets, and patrioism to the real vote for change in this election Ralph Nader.

It's the "qualifiers" that crack me up....
I'm a black, female, single mother of 8, veteran, handicap, 4 kids in Iraq, they're black, mexican, white, and korean, we are all born again christian converted from muslim, with POW MIA veteran father and working class abused mother...blah blah blah.
The second anybody posts the "qualifiers" you know something lame is coming and they need to try to get all the "validity" they can...lol -

Good post, I wish we would hear from more people who have been or are currently in the military.
With so much discussion by people here "in the states" (read civilians) about the "war" (read only Iraq) i wish that more military personnel would speak up and say what they want to see happen. Truly, the war belongs to those who are overseas, anywhere, and are fighting the war. The war isn't what we see in the media. BTW. my son-in-law is currently in the Green Zone. -

Very insightful and articulate post.
I agree, except that I will vote for McCain. Obama is not qualified, and it would be dangerous for the country to have him as commander-in-chief.-

Good one. Let me see, you are a black man with profound empathy toward the Hills blue hairs - and are voting for Nader. Good one. Because the DNC is no longer good for you? Hmmm. You don't seem real. Chaos?
