While I am sorry for Macel's loss, lets face it; Jerry was a Christian Hate Monger. His hate ran deep and cut into the feelings and humanity of people different from him and his narrow minded beliefs. Sure, he was a rich man. Getting money from guilt ridden, self loathing sheep, while he Limos to New York to eat at Mickey D's. One day the Jesus cult will fade into the same position as Thor or Mithra; belief in an imaginary invisible sky Zombie will be laughed at. We are indeed in the Dark Ages of our beliefs.

So Logical Bob, What will it be like in your world when the dark ages end. What is the ultimate truth you have to share? Have you ended suffering? Can you bring the peace into the hearts of men? I am no Falwell fan but clearly there are much worse than him. How about the bomb makers, the bomb droppers, the scientist that invent the weapons of war. I see that science has brough great good but lso great evil. What in your new enlightened world will change that. As I said, I am no Falwell fan, but I'll bet on God and you can keep the rest!

While Ms. Falwell's assertion of her not being "too well bred" is interesting in it's own right, it should not have any bearing on her ability to form an opinion on the position of the "religious right" in November's election.

Hate and Intolerance was his Gospel.
I believe that there is a "Special" place in Hell for the false "Men of God".
    after all................................... Wasn't Jesus a Liberal ?

WOW! You all are a wee-bit harsh on your fellow humans! Easy does it

The Bible was written thousands of years ago. The writer relies on this book written by male authors who were human beings with their own ignorance, prejudices against women, slaves, "infidels" and those born with a homosexual orientation. They were humans with a human tendency to lie and distort and create myth. Thousands of years ago there ws no sicence, DNA research or biology. Since the time the bible has been written archeologists have uncovered Hominids, which are half man, half ape skeltons. They have been proven to be man's ancestors. Just recently
Scientists have made one of the most important fossil finds in history: a missing link between fish and land animals, showing how creatures first walked out of the water and on to dry land more than 375m years ago.
Paleontologists have said that the find, a crocodile-like animal called the Tiktaalik roseae and described in the journal Nature, could become an icon of evolution in action. Farish Jenkins, an evolutionary biologist at Harvard University said: "This represents a critical early phase in the evolution of all limbed animals, including humans - albeit a very ancient step." If the writer continues to believe in a god that supposedly created human beings just to send them to hell, (including the writers mother) for only not believing in him based on years of research and evidence, than this is not a god that should be worshipped and the writer is wasting her time on this earth.

I along with many other people supported and loved Jerry Falwell and his wife. His ministry still continues on even with all the haters out there. I am reading more hate on the posted comments. I haven't read any thing hateful and negative from his supporters or Christians. Hate the sin but love the sinner. That was his message. My experience at Liberty University and Thomas Road Baptist Church was nothing less than "Great". I have many good memories and friends to this day from my college days. I will continue to pray and support the ministry and message!!!!!! Kelli Vanderpool - Lutz

Blah, blah, blah ... good riddance! ???Not this time, not this year???.

  • Posted By: mnmanariesram @ 06/10/2008 11:20:33 PM

Perhaps the writer, being a female, believes that she was created from a man's rib, and the earth is only 6,000 years old as well and dinosaurs lived at the same time as "Adam and Eve". Perhaps she believe that it was the "Holy Spirit" working in the lives of priests that sexually abused children, "pastors" that have lied and embezzled money from their congregations and nuns that have been impregnated by priests who could not live up to a misguided "vow of celibacy".

I believe in "Lucy", a skeleton, carbon dated and scientifically authenticated I can see with my own eyes, rather than "Eve or Mary" who were obvious literary creations, along with a mythical sky-god named "jesus". The writer believes in fear based "armegeddon" and "rapture". I believe in humans working together and helping each other for the betterment of this world.

Because I believe in the seen rather than the unseen and unproven, I can face death with bravery and more importantly, I can face life with honesty, clear thinking, human empathy, and more passion than I ever could when I was a "believer". (This is the opinion of Jack Richter, a Sartell resident who is a former catholic and fundamentalist Baptist who now embraces atheism and is a member of Minnesota atheists and American Atheists.) )

We are we told not to believe in a fairytale. But its silly how these holly rollers believe that the biggest fairytale of them all is true.

One of the biggest problems with Bubba Bush is his supposed alliance with right-wing religous censervatives ( The next is his stupidity). Do the RWRC's really believe this liar? There is no compatibility between religion and politics. They are not bunk mates!

    • Posted By: Nins @ 06/10/2008 11:19:02 PM

Bush is about as religious as my toenail. The GOP has been pimping the religious right for decades, using their votes to push their war and oil agenda. It's a you scratch my back, I'll scratch your's marriage of convenience.

this woman is a hypocrite, and so are all right- wing christian fanatics. they so blindly follow bigots like falwell, Dobson, and robertson who have destroyed Christianity and the message of Jesus ( who would surley disown these lunatics). she will FOR SURE vote for mcCain. Funny, was not mcCain the one who called Falwell " AN AGENT OF INTOLERANCE" and she is still voting for him. I think it is time for people to rid their minds and souls of this lunacy. these religious bigots want people only for their $$$. they're nothing but a bunch of hypocrites and have been sucking the life out of people's wallets for years. Last year Pat Robertson had $ 198 Million in his bank account, can anyone explain why , meanwhile, Jesus was wearing sandels and did not have a dime. time to wake up people, PLEASE .

    • Posted By: dtvk100506 @ 06/10/2008 10:26:04 PM

you need to read your bible and study it. you have no idea what you are talking about. jesus was not poor and had money. he wore clothes fit for a king the bible says. if his clothes were not worth anything why did they gamble for it when he was crucified. also the bible says give ten percent of your income to the work of the lord. read malachi chapter 3. what preachers do with the money is up to them. if they do wrong then god will find them out. people who do send preachers money are doing what god ask them to do and that is why they will be blessed in more ways than money. so i challenge you go to church and give ten percent of your income and see the blessings flow. if you do not do it, than i promise you your missing gods blessing

      • Posted By: Abe1966 @ 06/10/2008 11:18:14 PM

I assure you I know more than you think about the bible, and when I said wore sandels, I did not mean to belittle him, I only meant to say that he was humble and did not care for his appearance as much as he did about his message and teachings. and when you refer to the romans gambling for his cloths, it just means they were mocking him,and it does not say anything about his cloths being expensive(i wonder where you got that idea ! ). also you failed to answer my questions regarding the hypocrisy of Mrs. Falwell voting for Mccain since he is the one who called Falwell an agent of intolerance. those are the religious bigots that are dividing people by causing all kinds of hatred amoung us. Also i don't consider the likes of robertson a person that is doing god's work, but a man without a conscience who has no regards for the poor or the hungry or anyone else. he only cares about expanding his empire and take advantage of the gullible, and turn them into a hate machine against anyone who disagrees with him. Jesus' message was love and forgiveness, unlike those hypocrites that you and others follow blindly. so please go check your facts and the way you're being misled by lunatics you call preachers. I'd rather give my money to some homeless person who can really use it, not to deceivers like robertson and others like him. so you see, you completely missed and dodged my points. PEACE

This woman is just like her husband. A BIGOT! The only reason she will vote for Mc Cain is that he is white.
Her husband was nothing other than an intolerent, racist, homophobic BIGOT! I know MANY people that were less than sad when he died. MANY. I can not beleive that she can not be alone after he passed away. GET OVER IT! There are millions of people that have had to do just that, by themselves! It is time that the people in the world that are truly haters have to answer to the allmighty. .HATE and INTOLERENCE were not part of Jesus' teaching. Someone who hated so much will NOT be missed. It was bound to happen, that his "church" will continue to spiral downward.

Comment: ecmcomichael, I agree with you wholeheartedly. The comments of hate by so many people really have been an eye opener for me. I have not read one harsh comment by a Christian in this blog.

    Posted By: elithian @ 06/10/2008 23:07:09
Comment: Obviously you have not paid attention to the comments. Time and again there are those judging remarks that are forbidden yet here they are. Falwwll was just a man and like all men he died. Like you and I will. I suggest you worry more about your relationship with God while you are alive and forget about the Dead. The dead are now the province of God; not men. And I bet you, like all men, have plenty of sin. Worry about that. People don't like Falwell because he was too judgental and narrow minded; too political and not God Fearing enough. The love f God is always attractive and beautiul. Those who emminate that love are like honey to bees. I really don't think Falwel did that well for most of us and that is why you see these comments. When the Crocadile Hunter died there was only kindness expressed in the blogs. He made a difference by example and I never heard that he spoke an unkind word about anyone or any living creature.

Jerry Falwell was one of the supreme examples of one who was indoctrinated into the biggest lie and scam ever brought upon humanity: that of the belief in a "personal god and a personal "jesus".

What a total sham he helped spread and like th con artist he was, he used his snake oil pitch to spread the ultimate LIE. That a "personal "god" created us.

It's like breathing fresh air that he is gone.

His wife may "believe" he is some ridiculous "heaven", but he really just rotting in the ground and going....

    nowhere.

    Good riddance!

    • Posted By: Nins @ 06/10/2008 11:14:51 PM

Dear MN, while I deplore (that's the strongest polite word I can find) what Jerry Falwell said and did in his lifetime, I would like you to realize that the concept of a "personal God" and a "personal Jesus" was not Falwell's invention. Evil people will take good things and graft their poison onto them, just as an adept liar will sprinkle lies in with the truth, in order to sound more plausible.

The very finest people I have known had an inner moral compass, be that compass centered on Christ or on simply keeping their word, no religious stings attached.

Falwell and his political ilk are bottom dwellers. Please don't judge Christianty based on them. For all their "religious" ranting, I have to say that my dog is a better Christian. He's all about love.

I do feel bad for his wife though. Sweet. Sincere. Stepford.

The Democratic energy package would have imposed a 25 percent tax on any ???unreasonable??? profits of the five largest U.S. oil companies, which together made $36 billion during the first three months of the year. It also would have given the government more power to address oil market speculation, opened the way for antitrust actions against countries belonging to the OPEC oil cartel, and made energy price gouging a federal crime.

    Story continues below ???

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

???Americans are furious about what???s going on,??? declared Sen. Byron Dorgan, D-N.D. He said they want Congress to do something about oil company profits and the ???orgy of speculation??? on oil markets.

But Republican leaders said the Democrats??? plan would do harm rather than good ??? and they kept the legislation from being brought up for debate and amendments.

Now brainwashed republicans, blame democrats.. Your party is destroying this country.

There is not much difference between Jerry Falwell and Usama they both try and kill people just in different ways. Jerry tried to unite his followers and kill with hate and intolerance and Usama is killing with terrorism while both do it under the auspices of religion. If that is religion I know the world will be better place without it.
