Jerry Falwell was FAR, FAR, FAR from the religious right. The religious right is much better off now that he is gone. It wouldn't suprise me if when he died he didn't go the place he thought he was going.

    Rot in hell Farwell!

    • Posted By: investinlife @ 06/10/2008 10:55:09 PM

      You will, unless you repent!

  • Posted By: sosueme @ 06/10/2008 10:54:36 PM

Many People that make comments do so because they are lonely and are searching for a friend...deep within they are confused...it is better to say nothing than to comment so infatically on things that you know nothing about...I believe in the end the ultimate will be revealed...no sense in being to negative...just in case there is a God.

Road Toad, perhaps you should go to Thomas Road Baptist Church's website: trbc.org and see all the ministries that Jerry Falwell's church started: a home for alcoholics, home for unwed mothers, ministry for bikers, etc. Again, Jerry came from a family with money.; he wasn't making himself rich. If possible, go to Liberty, walk around there, see what was done for all the money donated. It is amazing!! I visited there years ago and loved it!!

I agree with that sword talk! I want to cut the wheat from the chaff! But which one am I? Ohh... I need help here once again.

  • Posted By: "religious right" @ 06/10/2008 10:54:10 PM

Jerry Falwell was FAR, FAR, FAR from the religious right. And if his wife is wondering, the religious right is doing much better since he is not here.

  • Posted By: Roory @ 06/10/2008 9:47:56 PM

Farwell was a hate monger and a polarizing figure for extremist Christian. America is far better off without his hate message and speech. I hope he is recieving his appropriate punishment if there is truly a God up there.

Roory, I would hate to be in your shoes from here on out. I would hate to be in your shoes when you draw your last breath. When Jerry opened his eyes he seen Jesus, when you open your eyes after you die( the way you talk now) you will see HELL. I would rather spend my Eternity with Jerry in the presence of God ,than with you in the presence of Satan and Hell.

Enter Your CommentYou are just as screwed up as Jerry. you and Jerry falwell will rot in Hell.

The Bible is fiction and a piece of trash just like the crap Macel writes in her book. She needs money because her loser dead husband's cause is not bringing her in any money . Anyone sane is running away from the Bush right wing Evangelical crap that Bush aligned himself with in a sad and sorry losing cause. You guys need to believe in Zuess. He has more history in solving your wrongs than that imaginary new friend who you whisper to every day.

    • Posted By: investinlife @ 06/10/2008 10:27:19 PM

You will be begging for Gods mercy one day. I feel sorry for you!

      • Posted By: wakachica @ 06/10/2008 10:43:22 PM

sounds like you've attended a few of ole Jerry's hate speeches yourself. All the Christian rights need to mind their own business and leave the other poor souls alone. If I wanna sleep with sheep, light crosses on fire, condone gay sex, abortion, and sex ed then that's my business! Leave my soul to me and worry about yourself. We don't care what YOU do, give us the same respect!

        • Posted By: investinlife @ 06/10/2008 10:53:25 PM

Calm down now! No need to get beligerent. Jerry spoke truth and most human are to weak to handle it. We love our sins to much. They bring pleasure for a season. I'm a gay man who lives a life of sin and need to repent!

  • Posted By: buc23 @ 06/10/2008 10:52:47 PM

As public server of humanity and "believer", Jerry Falwell should have exercise much better judgement and wisom and kept some of his opinions to himself... no doubt, he has caused many to stumble and fall. Additionally, his brand of "old time reigion and poli-tricks (politics) has also branded him a hypocrite and heretic, as he perpetually exercised his attitude of hatred, divisions and hypocrisy --- all "in the name of God". The Moral Majority, Christianity and the world is better off without him. Maybe, steps to heal and reconcile the "us against them" doctrine can begin.

I wouldn't expect you to understand this perspective because you are his wife. Victims always have a higher road and burden than the victimizers, and surely much more than they can ever comprehend.

  • Posted By: wildlifeusa @ 06/10/2008 10:42:09 PM

Religion must stay out of politics!! Period!

    • Posted By: dingus @ 06/10/2008 10:52:17 PM

Yes, I agree! Let's take religion out of politics...right after we take out atheism and secular humanism.

  • Posted By: Br. Michael @ 06/10/2008 10:52:08 PM

No disrespect to Macel of goodness. However, the truth is "God MAKES things different." Not Jerry, George, or any other bible breeder whom forgets that God is before, during ,and after the Bible. In all my respects to imperfect humankind, may Jerry rest in peace.
Most Many Blessings, Br. Michael, Chicago, IL

The Christian Right is what has accounted for more of the stimmied and repressed rights of the American people than any thing else! Who cares about the Moral Majority? They have pushed they Moral beliefs on and in to the political system because they produce uncanny amounts of money for the politicians which in turn twists the arm of government officals into doing what they want!

Come on folks.... What ever happened to keeping Church and State seperate... Oh thats right, The Christian Right is buying the laws we live by now!!

Tell these Nut Cases if they don't like or believe in something we do then turn the channel!! Don't force your beliefs onto everyone else....

If one could believe in evil, this person would be somewhere in the current definition. However, there were plenty who came before him and there will be plenty to follow. He was not special. He was simply a parasite in control of its host.

Comment: I have always heard that when you throw a rock at a pack of wolves the one that yelps is the one that got hit. Only this time the rock was thrown at a pack of toads.

Comment: Nobody is yelping here, buddy. I and millions of others, however- are SICK of seeing the sheep of the nation swindled out of their money and minds by snake oil salesman like Falwell. All these churches and congregations giving up billions of dollars, to have the finger of the preacher pointed back at them and belittled. Not a man alive has any more right than another to point fingers and preach that a difference in their fellow man is wrong. No one. No more justification than the next, we are ALL sinners. It's about time for people like JF to stop the finger-pointing and DO something to benefit society. Build houses. Subsidize seniors and low-income folks to pay their bills and buy the scrips they need to LIVE. This is Jesus-like and God-like. For every mega-church like Falwell's that is built, tens of thousands of down and out people can be assisted, clothed, fed. I cannot think of a single church off hand around here that has made a significant contribution to better society, because that would require real, hard, labor intensive WORK. Unlike dressing in a suit once a week and making everyone you're preaching to feel rotten about themselves, in trade for thousands of dollars. The whole point of a church is to build society and provide for those who can't- and to build the next generation of people to be equally as mighty in the pursuit of what is right and decent. It seems the church has lost its way in pursuit of greed. As long as extremists like JF exist, they really give liberals exactly what they want. They will cause anyone with a rational head to vote liberal. And before you go labeling me a Lib- I am anything BUT a Lib.

Non-libs can be lost too, road_toad.

If people wish to spend billions on the lottery, vegas, or porn is that ok? Or is that freedom of choice not a swindle or acting out of blindness. If people want to spend money on their church why are they dumb or blind, maybe they like supporting what has worked for them, maybe they like supporting the activities that reach out to there community with food, clothing, housing, and emotional and spiritual support.

As I read some of these comments it saddened me to realize how much hatred existed within the hearts of people toward an individual who stood for what he thought was right. Dr. Falwell had the backbone to stand up against those who set out to destroy the very essence of what made our country so great. Consider the increase in our Nation's violent crime, our ever growing problem with drugs and alcohol, the problems in our schools, the breakdown of the family, just to name a few. The real problem is not with individuals like Dr. Falwell who are willing to speak out and confront issues like this. Rather, it is our Government's lack of backbone to confront the real issues that have been eating away at our foundation over the years. And let's not forget citizens like you and I who have been unwilling to take the heat and stand up for what we thought was right. No, it is easier to sit back and complain about the condition of our Nation and about individuals who are willing to do the fighting for us. I may not have always agreed with the way Dr. Falwell went about promoting his convictions, but I admire the man for not sitting around waiting for others to do all the work. I consider it an honor to have graduated from Liberty University. Dr. Falwell lived what he preached and he served as a good role model for all those who sat under his teaching. If you hope to continue enjoying the freedoms that you have been granted over the years, you better hope that God has someone else in mind that is going to speak out in our best interrest. And it doesn't have to be a Baptist preacher. It could be anyone. What if it's you? Could Americans depend on you? Do you have what it takes? If not, don't tear apart someone who does, instead, thank God that someone else is strong enough to speak out.

Dr. Falwell? From what accredited College or University did Jerry Falwell actually attend?

Need a source? Falwell used the title of "doctor" from an honorary Doctor of Divinity from Tennessee Temple Theological Seminary (now known as Tennessee Baptist Seminary), an honorary Doctor of Letters from California Graduate School of Theology (an unaccredited institution), and an honorary Doctor of Laws from Central University (Seoul) in Seoul, Korea (an unaccredited institution).

One of the problems that we have with Bubba Bush is his catering to the right-wing religous conservatives (In addition to his stupidity). The more we try to equate religion to politics, the bigger the problem becomes. They are not bunk mates!

  • Posted By: ashoopman2985 @ 06/10/2008 10:21:03 PM

Pity there isn't a hell for him to burn in!

  • Posted By: educationnet @ 06/10/2008 10:47:47 PM

The reason the Christian Right is struggling is that it was a bad idea in the first place.

  • Posted By: rakrunr9 @ 06/10/2008 10:43:44 PM

I'm a very fragile person who can't form an opinion for myself so i relie on people like Falwell to mold me. I have been told at a very early age that I am not a good person, I have bad thoughts, and I am damned for eternity. Religion has helped me disguise my impure thoughts from society. People like me have to hate everyone else because that validates me. Everyone else has to be wrong because my limited thought process can't calculate beyond pre-adalesence impulse thinking. I will stop at nothing in order to show everyone else that I am right and they are wrong. My cleverest defence is attacking people with the qualities that I share and am so ashamed of. My verocity is rewarded with the comfort that they will never find out how much we actually have in common. I hate myself and I'm so afraid.

    • Posted By: ecmcomichael @ 06/10/2008 10:47:10 PM

No judgment there are your part, eh wildlifeusa?

    • Posted By: llvv @ 06/10/2008 10:45:55 PM

Politics began for and BECAUSE of religion if you know your world history. You speak of intolerance, yet it is laced throughout your own message. If McCain's skin WAS brown, she would still vote for him.
