To tell you the truth Jerry had a lot of love for people. No one is perfect; things may not have come out right, which I know that he probably wished he would have said things differently. I am so proud of him though for defending Christ and what he believed in. I just hope that I one day will become as spiritual as him and not afraid to stand up for what I believe in.

Macel. you seem like a sound-minded person. Your husband was not. He was a mean, hateful and vindictive person against anyone who did not prescribe to his amoral minority and that is a legacy YOU have to live with until you die. He was a very mean and evil person and you cannot hide his shame in his death - sorry we are not buying it!

He only spoke truth and not afraid as most people are!

I think Mrs Falwell shouldnt worry about the religious right, there's always the Rev Hagee, McCains spiritual friend who HE (McCain) sought out, then threw him under the straight talk express bus when Hagee sounded very familiar to comments made by Falwell and Robertson. Religion corrupts politics and politics corrupts religion.....the first by Thomas Jefferson, and the second by James Madison

It's funny so much has been said about Falwell spewing hate; seems to me most of the comments I have read are nothing but boat loads of hate; very sad.

Because when you direct hate toward others, you get hate thrown right back at you. Why is that so hard for you to understand?

He was an Osama Bin Falwell. Both scum bags are extremists.

    • Posted By: investinlife @ 06/10/2008 10:15:11 PM

He had a spine, which most politions do not have these days. He was not a coward!

  • Posted By: pmyjane @ 06/10/2008 10:13:53 PM

oh, sure, marcel, he had enough love to go around to only those who met only HIS standards...wow, how christian of him! way to judge people, jerry! would love to know how that worked out for you.

  • Posted By: detestconservatives @ 06/10/2008 10:12:41 PM

    oh ...yawn...did he die?

  • Posted By: pfisher @ 06/10/2008 10:11:19 PM

I have never heard hate spewed by any Christian like I hear hate spewed by some of the bloggers. And the thing is, I really feel sorry for you all. You have a spiritual problem, it is that simple. Get in your Bible and search it out.

The framers of the Constituton knew that religion and politics do not match. This country was founded on constitutional principles that there shall be NO RELIGIOUS TEST to run for office. This country has many religious denominations. Many Americans celebrate and worship different Gods. That is why religion should stay completey beind the wall the our framers of the constitution built. President Eisenhower was NOT A CHRISTIAN when elected, he has a River Bretheren member, (Jehovah Witness) but was indoctrinated in to a Christian church in December 1952 after he was elected. Keep religion in the house of worship and keep politics in the house, senate and white house. PS Is Falwells Christian organization tax exempt? It shouldnt be....It should be investigated by the IRS.

He may have contributed to those who would buy into the poison he preached. But to hell with the gays. They aren't helping to breed humanity out of existence like the true-to-the-book "Christians," who seem to think no contraceptives, the spread of disease and birthing of 12 children per couple is OK. Women? GET BACK IN THAT KITCHEN AND ON YOUR BACKSIDES WHERE YOU BELONG! minorities? GET BACK IN THE FIELDS TO PICK THE WHITE MAN'S CROPS!! Come on, people. The Ten Comandments are WONDERFUL rules to live by. I would agree they are God-Sent. The rest of the Good Book has been altered to men's preferences to the extreme. It says men with men are and abomination, but says nothing about lesbianism. Sounds like whoever wrote this part liked a little girl-on-girl action. It's also alright to stone your kids to death for disobeying. Doesn't sound very Godly to me.

When you squeeze toothpaste guess what comes out? Sounds like road toad and roory have a little anger to get out.

I happened to be driving through Jerry Falwells town the day they were burying him. It was the 6th day of an 8 day road trip, and I remember us being extremely grateful that 'God' finally relieved us of such an arrogant, hopeless imbecile. Now if I could just time my next trip through Al Sharptons hometown under the same circumstances, all would be right with the world. Dear lord, please give me a two day advance notice so I can pack my bags.

Sorry guys, but JF stood for the Immoral Majority. Religious extremists are extreme no matter what religion they confess to. JF was a divider and the world is a better place without him.

When you squeeze toothpaste guess what you get? Sounds like road toad and roory got alot of anger squeezed.

Well pfisher, you missed out on a lot of his 'finest' moments. I don't see hate hate here, I see a lot of people that saw an awful man spewing hate for lots of people all in the name of God. We see this being a better place with him gone. He didn't sugarcoat anything. He just flat preached hate and intolerance. He was a claimed 'christian'!! His words an actions certainly weren't that of a christian.

I didn't know Falwell personally, but I know that he was a God-fearing man and truly "walked the talk." He truly lived the Bible. He was not perfect and didn't pretend to be. We are all sinners, saved by the grace of God. I know one thing about Falwell -- He is surely in heaven enjoying his rewards for the way he lived his life on earth.

  • Posted By: C. MacLean @ 06/10/2008 10:00:47 PM

If he were here, it would be the same - the same intolerance, the same bigotry, the same hatre, the same hijacking of Jesus' message of peace and love for thy neighbor.

I for one do not miss him.

I am so happy that fat F^^^ has been silent for the past 365 days. We are all better off for it.
I wish he bit bthe dust earlier so we would have less converted extremists in America.

In a time when our nation's politics were controlled by liberals and the conservatives were complaining but not working together, Jerry Falwell stood up and said "Let's get together and make a difference". I wouldn't expect the liberals to love him, but even they tell us to respect those we disagree with for having the courage to stand. We should do the same regarding Jerry Falwell.

I am truly sorry for her loss....but I am also sorry for the image he gave Christians. He may have loved God (1st commandment) but it seems he wasn't very good with the second...love thy neighbor as thyself. Maybe he did, but he did not show that side to the world. And what's with the getting a limo and going to McDonalds...I am 61, a professional and have never been in a limo--have to have money to to that. Money is what Republicans are all about...not people. When religion and politics compete, politics win.
