i am so glad he is dead. Our society is far better off without his hating message.
He was an extremist full of hate and rage. He made abortion America's priority but did he do anything to help the poor as he accumulated millions in his bank account? Of course no. Now his filthy rich widow is crying for him. Is anyone surprised?

Jerry wasnt allowed to have a checking account. Why you may ask? Because he kept giving all his money away to people. He would leave home with several thouand dollars in his pocket in the morning, and come home broke that night. Thats the kind of man he was. His home was not given to him, he bought it from the church. The church tried to give it to him, but he refused. He drove an SUV, a chevy to be exact. Not a Lexus, Not a Caddilac, not living the rich lifestyle. He was a GIVER. And he loved everyone he met, and everyone who met him loved him as well, including LARRY FLINT. So, your comments mean nothing to us who knew the man..

I don't know where the defenders of Jerry Falwell are, but I definitely think that the good he did outweighs the bad. I am a born again Christian and try not to be quite as abrasive as he was, but the truth is the truth, no matter how much some people want to sugar coat it. Homisexuality is a sin according to the Bible, but the Lord loves the sinner, and wants us all to repent of whatever sin we are doing. Otherwise we cannot have a relationship with him. I do believe sometimes the best way to reach lost people is by not being so abrasive, but I also believe when a preacher gets in the pulpit he should not sugar coat the word of God, just to make people like him. Jesus did not do that in the Bible. Actually I hear much more hate in the blog than I ever heard Jerry Falwell preach on television.

Unlike most of the people that will comment of this page, I think that Jerry left behind an amzing legacy. Good or bad that's up to the individual, but at least he left his mark on the world. He was always critized for his beliefs, but at least he had some, unlike a lot of Americans today. He took a stand, weather popular or not he stood up for what he believed in, not what was most popular. We all knew where he stood and what he believed in that's for sure. He was in his own right an amazing American and more importantly an amazing Christian.....

My husband of 47 years died two years ago, and unlike Mrs. Falwell, I am grateful (and proud) that we had the kind of marriage that would let him tell me what was on his mind, and vice versa. Mrs Falwell may have been "sheltered" but I wonder what she means by being "not too well bred on this kind of stuff"? Such a pity.

To all you commenters here: I am from Lynchburg Va, still live here, and met Jerry when I was 10 years old. At the time, I was being raised by my mother and a VERY abusive stepfather. One Wednesday night, we attended church at Thomas Road where Jerry was preaching. I stood up and accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior, and it changed my life. I walked the isle and Jerry took my under his arm, and for the first time in my life I knew nobody could ever hurt me again. Jerry bent over backwards to help our family through out the years, and this is a very common story about Jerry. Many experienced the same thing. You dont know the man like we do. He was A FINE MAN, and so are his fine sons. He was against what he believed God was against, and for what he believed God was for. The man had courage, and the strength to stand up for what he believed in, and he made a difference. Easy for you commenting clowns to badmouth the man. What did you stand up for in front of the world? What did YOU do to do anything at all for this country? Let me tell you the kind of man Jerry was.

Let's see...would our GAS PRICES be different?

  • Posted By: Texas2 @ 06/10/2008 9:47:16 PM

Jerry Falwell was a white Jeremiah Wright....Before I heard Wright spewing hate from the pulpit I heard Falwell spewing it. We reap what we sow....No tears have been shed here. Just one less so called 'christian' spewing hate in the name of God!

Gas prices would still be the same , and that wouldn't be different!.

Boo hoo. This man was a societal blemish. To say there is no love lost is an understatement. This woman should be embarrassed to an agoraphobic degree having even shared space with Jerry.

The moral majority is to blame for the current logical effect that their "cause" had endorsed. They were tricked into putting people into power that sistematicaly stole our economy for themselves and will live out their lives in luxury. While others cannot pay for their sisters medical bills. You put them there now fix it moral majority. Accountability and responsibility is now your duty!

How funny, his widow is voting for Grandpa McCain because she wants 8 more years of war and a recession the likes we will never emerge from. What do I expect from someone who married that beast.

I am actually glad he is gone. I used to work at Target and because of his banter about how Target did not allow any charities to ring bells or anything in front of their stores, I was yelled at, and belittled with crude and rude names from his "Christian" followers. I went home upset and crying almost every day during the holiday season because of what he had started. Like it was MY decision to not let charities in front of the stores. His comments made my life miserable.

What a peice of poorly written drivel. Falwell was a shark among sheep. The only thing he wanted was to line his own pockets and profit from the poor and weak minded all the while hiding behind the name of God. I hops they reserved a special place in hell for him
