Vote for McBama

When it comes to America's obvious domestic problems (retirement programs, immigration, energy policy) neither John McCain nor Barack Obama has offered real solutions.

    Hey Samuelson...

White Women(51% of the Population) have been the Greatest Benefactors from the (Affirmative Action Plan) Not Afro-Americans) Afro-American Women have also Benefitted... Thats Exactly White Women in America, why they demand that it still Stand as Law. Because they Benefitted from this Law, More than Anyother an still DO !!

Hispanic Americans, Asian Americans, E. Indians & The Handicapped.

If (Affirmative Action) made Atonement for Slavery, why is there such a High Un-Employment rate in Afro-American neighborhoods ?

Why is it, that When you enter a Building, You see a Predominant amount of White Males , White Females (Majority), Then comes Black Females and then a SMALL AMOUNT of Afro-American males in a Office...Hmmmm

That Trend Exist in the South, North & West.....Some of You People, along with Samuelson, are just Plain Hateful Predjudice People.

    Note: Mr. Samuelson...

Israel is in No Harm of Nuclear Attacks, Israel is the only Country in that region with (150 Nuclear Weapons), No other Country in that Region has Nuclear Bombs.

Iran is just another EXCUSE to start a Damn War with for Oil, The Arabs have a Right to Exist and to defend themselves, just as Israel.

Frankly speaking, israel should be Fighting in that Region alonside the USA, its Oil & Israel, that we are there for (4,095 Honr. US Soldiers Dead) under false Pretenses.

Israel is not laying down its Flesh, Blood, Bone & Spirit in Afghanistan or Iraq.

Israel has (150 Nuclear Weapons) to Destroy the World Times Over,

Let Israel Bomb Iraq and be Seen as Modern Day Mass Murderers, Not Our USA Troops, this whole Issue is an Israel & arab Conflict, Let them resolve it, i say.

America and the Allied Troops have Done enough !!

Now, Deal with that Atonement & Recocilliation...Mr. Racist Samuelson

You are No Different than any Aryan, KKK or Nazi Party member, You just have the the Luxury, Convenience & Cover up, by saying You are (Jewish) You are a Hatefilled and Hateful Man.

Did Eygpt's Anwar Sadat make Atonement or Reconcilliation to the Jews ...Hmmmm

Man, take Your Jewish A$$ over to Iraq Or Afghanistan or Your legal of Age Children and Enlist them to Fight in Iraq, otherthan that...

You are a Hatefilled Race Hate Monger, No Diffferent than Any other White Racist Race Hate Monger. You just have the luxury of responding, that I'm Jewsish, You are White...Your Religion is not a Race, its a Religion, an You are White and You are giving a Hateful White Racist Response !!

It really is a mess in the States. Everybody was laughing at Hillary Clinton including Obama when she was proposing the tax rebate on gas because it was headed to $5 for a gallon. They said it wouldn't amount to
very much of a saving. I bet most say now that was a good plan. Looks like Hillary knew what she was talking about. Obama is just a glorified preacher man with scary friends.

    • Posted By: Factarereal @ 06/13/2008 5:16:41 PM

Useless canadian.........................you are full of bullshit

    • Posted By: emmarcee @ 06/13/2008 9:23:58 AM

I wonder why go searching for that one particular gas station selling 10 cents less.... WE ALL pretend that getting a saving of 15 cents a gallon is beneath us.. ... That was just political and Obamiphile media. Now they are doing that to McCaine. Does Obama have any other real plan? As I said before, yes Iran will help him.. when he becomes US president.. Amazing

  • Posted By: emmarcee @ 06/13/2008 11:01:49 AM

Oil prices are high because of the following factors..with America's waning clout middle easterners don't want to sell so cheap anymore. Republicans want to give the big oil the green signal to look for resources locally and democrats want to screw Republicans. Republicans (and probabaly later Obama) will give a leeveway for American comapanies by giving big tax breaks for finding new oil and improving infrastructure. We are poor spectators. Nothing is going to change till the dust settles down.

This keeps getting better and better............Oh, happy days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Thursday shows Barack Obama attracting 47% of the vote while John McCain earns 40%. When ???leaners??? are included, Obama holds a five-point advantage, 49% to 44%. These results have been remarkably stable since Obama wrapped up the Democratic Presidential Nomination just over a week ago."

Wait, there's more.............Let's not for get the Gallup national......

"The current political landscape, with the percentage of those identifying themselves as Democrats outnumbering those who identify as Republicans by a 37% to 28% margin, provides a significant advantage for Barack Obama's presidential chances."

    Last, but not least......

"Barack Obama now holds a statistically significant edge over John McCain, 46% to 39%, among independents nationally."

The GOP better find a dead hooker in his trunk, b/c this other b*llsh*t is not working!!!!!! LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!

You Obama supporters sound like a bunch of racist to me. For some odd reason here I'm picking up that as long as a whitey is in office, America is in a dungeon. WHat gives? Why all the animosity towards whitey? Is the only way this country recognizes change if whitey is no longer the president? Is this the new attack on white men in America? First, Affimative Action that is mean't for everyone other then white men regardless of how poor or disadvantaged he may be. Now we have the only way this country is going to change is if we have ANY other race other then a white male in office?. Man, I hope this kill whitey mentality isn't the change everyones really hoping for. Stop the attack on whitey please....

    • Posted By: Kboogie @ 06/12/2008 1:44:41 PM

Where are you "picking" that up from? I haven't read any posts that come close to suggesting that. I don't think any of these bloggers mention race as much as you do. Most folks believe that ANYTHING other than our current President would be a positive change. More importantly, most folks believe that the current Republican nominee (who favors Bush's policies) is not the change we want.

Lately, the comments on these boards have revolved around the policies. Only a small few continue to dwell on the racial aspects. I believe you posted yesterday, "LETS GET OVER RACE". I agree w/ you, STOP MENTIONING IT IN EVERY ONE OF YOUR POSTS.

      • Posted By: SPORTLOCK09 @ 06/12/2008 1:48:15 PM

SJPERSONAL Writes......................................I sincerely doubt if any other candidate in any type of political race has ever been under this type of scrutiny. We all know why so there is no reason to post it but it does imply that we as americans have not progressed as far as some of us would like to believe. It is sad. Hopefully by the time we have an asian, latino, native american, muslim or jewish presidential candidate it will be better.

Um, guess you missed this one? I can find somemore for ya if you prefer. This ones about what 9 whole post down....

        • Posted By: Kboogie @ 06/12/2008 2:34:01 PM

I did see this one. I don't see how this supports your claim of "hating whitey". And, it's definitely not strong enough to generalize Obama supporters into a racist category. Ask the poster what she meant, before you stereotype those who don't support your candidate. Not all Obama supporters are racists....just like NOT ALL OBAMA DETRACTORS ARE RACIST. But, you seem to mention race, even when replying to someone who has not. What's up w/ that? I love "whitey". But, I hate McCAIN's views, policies, history, etc.....

          • Posted By: SPORTLOCK09 @ 06/12/2008 2:52:31 PM

What do you call exclusion because of race or gender? Discrimination? When you exclude white men ONLY from something supposed to help the less fortunate get an upper hand and white men make up the majority of the poor in America, what is that called? Dems call it leveling the playing field. But the truth is, you deprive a generation or two of opportunities others enjoy to lower their income, education/grad rates, home ownership, etc ,etc. Example. If you raise par on a golf course to 80 everyones a good golfer. If you lower the rim in basketball enough, Everyone can dunk. Its not leveling the paying field its lowering the standard.

            • Posted By: Kboogie @ 06/12/2008 3:31:34 PM

I agreed that it's a flawed policy. No arguing there. You can thank the boys in politics who were trying to correct the oppressive policies that their boys implemented before the civil rights movement. Affirmative Action was a necessary evil that does exclude some deserving folks. It goes back to the history of our country that SOME folks don't want to consider.

Hey, it wasn't your fault, it wasn't my fault. But we are both affected by it. This is why it's so important to address history, w/o fear or dissention, so we can correct it. If it doesn't get acknowledged, it doesn't get addressed, and it WON'T get fixed. In the meantime, blind generalizations are counter-productive to your plight. They're also insulting to those who may even see things your way.

You know what's really funny? Obama has indicated that he believes it's a deeply flawed policy as well. He is all for changing Affirmative action to give credence to economic statuses, as opposed to heritage.

you should do some research sport!

Well first of all, WHITEY is attacked on a weekly basis at Obama's Trinity Church of hatred towards whitey. Do you require more proof? Affirmative action? Excludes ONLY white men. More? Let me know.......

Obama has over 18million supporters. Trinity Church represents less than 1% of that number. I think you're reaching, my friend. You can hardly say that Trinity Church holds the majorty opinion.

Affirmative Action was NEVER an anti-white policy. It was implemented to springboard and offset the INSTITUTIONALIZATION of oppressive policies that ONLY affected minorites and white women. I agree, that it is a policy w/ flaws, and needs to be revised to a certain degree. But, based on the data used to erect the policy, white men were affected the least by it.

              • Posted By: SPORTLOCK09 @ 06/12/2008 4:00:49 PM

Funny stuff. White men make up the majority of the poor in America and you wish for me to believe Affirmative action does not affect white men? You should write comedy. Your hysterical.

The least you speak of means it certainly didnt help them in a positive way compared to the positive effects it had on all others. Since they are excluded, how could it positively effect them? I see now, the least positively effected were white men because they are excluded, got it.

                • Posted By: Kboogie @ 06/12/2008 4:54:21 PM

If you are INSISTING to stay angry or lay blame, be upset with the politicians that were the CAUSE of the need for such policies. Also, be upset w/ those politicians who implemented the Affirmative Action policies. They certainly weren't black.

I wish the cause wasn't there, either.

  • Posted By: Concerned Canadian @ 06/12/2008 1:25:13 AM

100 percent true...nobody is jumping up and down to be Obama's running mate. He's bad news. Just a matter of time some more disturbing stuff like his pastors , extremist friends or something will surface and thats all she wrote for the Dems in November. Obama is just a fraud and a showman. McCain doesn't have the questionable background that Obama has. In the good old days if someone like Obama had this disturbing stuff with his extremist friends and a member of a racist and hateful church for 20 years, that person would have been turfed from being a Presidential candidate. Might as well elect somebody for President who hung around with Charles Manson when he was on his murdering rampage...its the same difference.

Interesting to read a little negative press about Obama's graduate student persona and accomplishments after the primary and Hillary bashing are over. I thought Newsweek, inc. was simply "exhilarated" over him. Now the obvious -- he hasn't accomplished one piece of legislation or ran any organization in his entire career. We can fume about Iraq, trade, international issues and all the rest, but this election will boil down to whom the U.S. voter thinks will be the better leader.

  • Posted By: citron16 @ 06/12/2008 10:07:10 AM

Let me ask you a question, how can you find nothing wrong with what Rev. Wright preaches or that Obama attended this church for 20 years and saw nothing wrong there? I am asking because I can't imagine Obama as president because his rev. preached God D AM N America and in my thinking anyone who wants to be elected president should truely love this country.

    • Posted By: Kboogie @ 06/12/2008 12:07:03 PM

cintron, I agree that SOME of Rev. Wright's sermons are counter-productive to the the black community, and the AMERICAN communtiy. I DO see the "wrong" and the potential damage of such views. At the same time, I understand that there's a huge disconnect between many cultures within our society. SOME of Rev Wright's sermons are specifically geared to that audience. Anyone not familiar w/ that culture's plights, struggles, or history, will, understandably object, and most likely, take offense. It's a disturbing TRUTH that the collective masses will NEVER understand.

I AM NOT DEFENDING REV. WRIGHT'S VIEWS. So, before you resond, PLEASE read the ENTIRE post w/ an open-mind.

Now, in regards to Obama's 20yr stay..... What I find admirable, impressive, commendable about Obama, is that he used his upbringing, his intellect, his education, his community knowledge, his thirst for religion and culture, and his ability to LISTEN to OPPOSING views, and created a path that would enable him to affect politics. He admired the constructive figure that Rev Wright was in the Chicago community. (Research the church, and the communtiy programs that have literally saved lives.) BUT, he was also able to LISTEN to the OPPOSING (sometimes conflicting) views, that lead him to see the angst of earlier generations. He was fortunate enough to be exposed to BOTH sides of the racial argument. From that, he formed HIS OWN OPINION of where he wanted to take this country. His policies, political platform, and campaign has been the EXACT OPPOSITE of what Rev. Wright preached in SOME of his sermons.

Nothing that Obama has said or done during his political career has lead me to believe that he was influenced by ANY of the negativity that Rev Wright is "famous" for.

Not to mention, that I believe that his path for the country is stronger and more positve than McCain's.

Again, I understand your discomfort. BUT, I think you're focusing on one detail, which is blinding you to the larger spectrum, and disabling you from being well-informed. If you don't believe Obama's policies are best for the country, you have every right to vote otherwise.

AGAIN, PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE POST (twice if you have to) before you respond. I'm trying to see the issue from your point of view. Whether you agree w/ my response, or not, I hope I at least answered the question.

Thanks babe. I'm taking a different approach today. You should've been here yesterday, when I attacked McCain on his captinity in Vietnam. Wheeeeew boy, I riled them up big time!! These were the same folks salivating when they thought Rev Wright would be Obama's ruin. Read the threads..it got quite amusing!!

          • Posted By: HDavidson @ 06/12/2008 2:43:32 PM

Well I guess we should'nt tell them that McCains entire story is in question, 30+ propaganda films, only 20hrs of combat before being shot down, crashing 5 jets before that, turning his back on the POWs he swore to, that he would NEVER use his status for political gain. His SnL Scandal with the Keating 12. The list goes on...it's quite sad, and unimpressive, I challenge ANYBODY to show me how he is a "hero".

Sheep, and they think that calling a soldier a "hero" justifies killing him/her and then justifies continuing to kill them so that others did not die for "nothing"...according to John McCain on 05/03/08 they are fighting a "WAR FOR OIL!"...jm

Not a gaffe, not taken out of context, "if we can win in Iraq, we will never again have to fight WARS FOR OIL"...John McCain 05/03/08
NOBODY HAS ANSWERED BTW WHAT WINNING IN IRAQ MEANS, how it is defined, anything, they just keep saying it over and over.
He also said he will never surrender in Iraq, never. How can you "surrender" when it's a civil war and we are just policing it? anybody?

                    • Posted By: Kboogie @ 06/12/2008 7:24:59 PM

And, how about the "geniuses" who parrot the phrase, "the surge is working, the surge is working"?!?! Yes, the surge has minimized US casualties. BUT, it has NOT made the region any more stable or governable. The Shiites, Sunnis, Kurds, and anti-US civilians will NEVER accept being led by a US-backed government. It just WILL NOT happen. Spreading Democracy at gunpoint has NEVER worked. We tried it in Iran 40 years ago, and in Afghanistan. Look how that turned out. The Muslim world will die before allowing US policy to govern. IT"S ALL FOR THE OIL BABY!!!!!!

        Boogie,

That was intelligent, articulate, and thoughtful. You didn't resort to name-calling or profanity and your point comes across quite clearly.

I would encourage you to stick with this approach as the other makes you look a little....well extreme. I apologize for using the same tactics back at you as they are beneath us both.

I also concur with you 100% on this.

I would also remind the Wright critics to check out Martin Luther King's views on Vietnam. He, too, called out America for it's role in an idiotic war, and we all know he was a man of peace and unity, not division.
(http://www.aavw.org/protest/homepage_king_beyond.html). He, too, was branded a traitor, a coward and everything else in the book, but he stuck to his principles and was, ultimately, vindicated by history.

No, I'm not defending Wright either. I, too, believe his comments are unproductive at best.

I would, however, like to focus on one of the items conversatives cannot seem to let go of: they want to believe he blamed the U.S. for 9/11, when , in reality he said,

The chickens we trained to fight the Soviets (Bin Laden) and the Iranians (Saddam Hussein) came home to roost (9/11 and everything Saddam Hussein did before and since Gulf War I), and if we're stupid enough to do it again (like giving $5 billion in military aid to Pervez Musharev who then called us bullies and gave Al Qaeda a safe haven in the mountains of Pakistan) then thegood Lord above will condemn ( or, "d-mn", in the Biblical sense) us and our stupidity.

I have watch the entire sermons!! More than once or twice. I also live in Chicago Illinois where Trinity church is located, I have very many disturbing things about this church and what is preached there! I also work with many Affrican Americans who have talked about this church inthe past, and noneof them have anything good to say about the church or Rev. Wright. They say this church is for extrimists!! This is part of the reason I a democrat all my life am now changing to independant and will vote for McCain in November. Buy thank you for sharing your opinions.

          • Posted By: Kboogie @ 06/12/2008 4:21:48 PM

Citron, I don't think anyone is "twisting or turning" anything. We are all well-informed (some more informed than others) about Rev. Wright, his church, and his sermons. We are very aware of the facts. If you've heard the entire sermon, know the history and community activism of the church, and heard the explanations of the comments within the sermons, then you are well-informed and are making an educated choice. The majority of voters (so far)have a different opinion than you and are voting accordingly. Again, I respect your position, but it's unfair to infer that those who hold MY position are somewhat "spinning" things.

If any other politition running for president had gone to a church like Trinity for 20 years, and had listened to a Rev. preaching what Rev. Wright was preaching, their careers would be over. All my life I have gone to Catholic churches, and I have never ever heard a Priest or Rev. Preaching any hate at all !! Listening to Opposing views is one thing but for 20 Years is another!! What is admirable, impressive, commendable about his upbringing? Obama when he was little lived in Indonesia for a few years with his Mother and step father. He then moved to Hawaii and lived with his grandparents who raised him!! This is the same grandmother Obama called a typical white person!! But then thats probably what he learned from Rev. Wright!! I live in Chicago Illinois so you can not tell me Rev. Wright is a constructive figure here!! Wright had a big church built where he can preach this garbage and now he is having a Million dollar house built for himself in a rich suburb of Chicago that is mostly white people!!! If he cares so much about the people at Trinity church then why does he not want to stay living by them and build his Million dollar house there?
You talk about his political career, he was elected to be Senator of Illinois, he has done nothing as senator oh that's right he has been running for president!!! Everyone talks about Obama change we can believe in!! What change he has done nothing as Senator!!! It makes me wonder if he even knows what the word change means!! And he is very careful when he talks so he does not sound like Rev. Wright. Even though he slipped and called his Grandmother a typical white person!! That sounds like something Rev. Wright would say!! He is great at making speaches that are written for him I grant you that but in the debates or when asked a queation he stumbles all over himself!! I am not just focussing on one detail. I am foccussing on a few, Rev> Wright, Pfleger, any one who lives in Chicago has heard about him plenty of times, Farrahkan, Ayers, Rezko, His Wife, and many many more people and things. Obama talks about change, I wonder if Obama even knows what the word change means!! I thnk McCain can lead this country in a much better direction than Obama at least McCain has the experience needed to run this country. Hillary Clinton Would have been the best out of these 3 but thats no longer an option!

        NoObama!!!!!!

I understand your view. Alot of folks would agree w/ you. I'm not one of them, but I respect the differences of opinion. I, myself, think the views, policies, and platforms that Obama represents are far more constructive than McC's. And, if you look in McC's past, you'll find a few disturbing facts.

But, since both candidates have a few unanswered questions about themselves, and since this is what we have to choose from, policy takes the forefront......for me, anyway.

Voters favor Obama's economic policy - poll.... Democratic presidential candidate holds slight edge over GOP rival McCain on key election issue.

Well hey, Why waste all the time and money on an election? Your poll has already determined the winner.
Oh yeah, If polls mean't a damn thing other then to make you feel all warm and fuzzy I guess Hilary would've been the nominee wouldn't she. According to the polls in the early primary race Hilary was her hands down favorite. Do you feel warm and fuzzy yet?

      • Posted By: HDavidson @ 06/12/2008 2:26:27 PM

Who is this Hillary you speak of? Polls are rediculous, however, on can't argue the momentum of the country, the voters, the need to leave Bush to the courts that oversee his war crimes trial and those that follow him should be tried as well. The FACT that everyday McLilBush grows more and more into the form of GW. All these point to an obvious conclusion...

        • Posted By: SPORTLOCK09 @ 06/12/2008 4:09:27 PM

Whats that? He's trying to commit political suicide? Anyone who is dumb enough to follow in footsteps of the worst president in the last 2 decades wouldn't be the Republican nominee so that common sense alone discredits your opinion that he is the same as Bush. Why exactly did they call him a maverick again?

          • Posted By: HDavidson @ 06/12/2008 6:51:32 PM

Maverick...lol...in fact...LMAO! 100yrs in Iraq, Bomb Iran, The economy? what's that?, Tax breaks for the wealth, more and more war, war is the answer to all conflict, not diplomacy, withdrawl is NOT IMPORTANT!, oh yeah let us not forget roe v wade..."A bush by any other name is still a bush."

Maybe one time he was look at as a maverick, NEVER a hero (laughable), now he is just step-n-fetch to GW, becuase he thinks it's still 04 when fear sells. he still believes in the brown boogeyman andyet makes no mention of Afghanistan where the boogeyman lives and breathes.
Don't forget his complete failure to support our sons and daughters at war or their families, with his no show/no vote on the GI BILL. Another Bush move...so tell me again the difference between GW and JM? What global warming, stemcells...lol give me a break.

I find the notion that Obama is all speeches and little specifics hard to believe. i honestly think that it is all perception. You have a democrat with left/centrist agenda, and a republican with a typically repulblican agenda, hardly anything that we didn't see in the reaganomics. Has Obama said he is anti-trade? Has he said he will increase the fiscal burden to the point of harming productivity? The answer to both questions is no.

You don't address the Iraq question and its corollary of when and how to bring our troops back home. You don't address the general question of our standing in the World as a country, ... I think your column was not that great this time.

  • Posted By: Irredentist @ 06/12/2008 12:23:28 PM

Um, I think this analysis of Obama is pretty much flat wrong. I'm a Hillary supporter who will probably support Obama in the general. I'll stipulate that Obama has skillfully avoided being located at one point in the political spectrum. Yet I think that is part of his appeal. Obama seems to be attempting to remind us that what brings us together is much stronger than what separates us and to reconstitute us as a nation instead of a multitude of micro-constituences per Mark Penn. Additionally, I think his is a populist candidacy in the best sense of the word. The will of the American people has been continuously distorted by lobbyists for powerful interests contrary to the generall welfare of the American people. This has prevented progress on vital issues. It may seem a little fuzzy on first impression but I think unity with purpose is an important goal and the driving principal of his campaign. As for policy, Obama has outlined detailed proposals on his website though they have kinks to work out and will change if he gets into office as all campaign proposals do. As for the argument that he's spent his time talking and writing versus doing, he's young and he hasn't been in national public life for decades but he's bright, accomplished, and the fact the he's managed to successfully organize a nation-wide campaign with little a priori wealth and few connections relative to his opponents implies that he's not bad as a doer. Overall Obama, despite his youth offers something different to the American people and whether you like or don't like what he has to offer, it is foolish not recognize it.

    • Posted By: jh35180 @ 06/12/2008 5:48:05 PM

I will recognize that Obama is a very creative and resourceful person who has built a good campaign. That being said there is much about Obama that makes me cynical. First, he mentions that college is a birthright (this is not misquoted he said this in his speech a week ago Tuesday). How are we going to pay for all of this and still give the middle class a tax cut? Stick it to corporations who in turn will stick it to consumers. It just seems like Obama's economic plan is like one big Santa Claus with a lot of goodies. All of the "goodies" cost something and somebody will have to pay for it.

Secondly, even though McCain doesn't spell out anything really tangible on economics either, I do feel that he is more knowledgeable on national security. And with all the Islamafascists in the world I think that he would be better prepared to deal with them than Obama. If McCain were to pick someone with good economics credentials such as Mitt Romney, I feel that a McCain/Romney ticket would offer our country more security all the way around than Obama and whoever his veep is.

Obama makes good speeches and he enjoys a lot of support. Good speeches alone do not solve problems.

  • Posted By: archmsu @ 06/12/2008 5:07:07 PM

I really hope the future debates between McCain and Obama focus on these issues. I could care less about what the world things about us, or all the other International issues. We got some serious problems here at home that need to be addressed. Our politicians are ignoring these issues because they involve hard choices and American politicians, especially congress, are too weak to make. It scares me, that we can't get a solution by our leaders to solve the illegal immigration problem. More than 50% of country is against illegal immigration and want it stopped, but our politicians haven't done anything about it. So, what this mean........is that our government has no real control, it's all an illusion. I think what has really happened is that in an attempt to make everyone happy, they've made no one happy. Tthey forgot that in a democracy your going to have people who aren't happy and who disagree, but when the majority speaks congress has to listen. They don't seem to listen any more...............

will the media quietly aid obama in his errors if he becomes president? will the media soft peddle, gloss over and generally ignore his mistakes? at some point people will catch on and then what? everyone knows what the media did to hillary clinton and what the media will try to do to mccain. I hope his party can override this.

    • Posted By: joe_mama @ 06/12/2008 10:52:40 AM

On media bias (according to the Pew Research Center)

"Over the course of the primary campaign season greater numbers heard about controversies associated with Barack Obama than heard about other campaign events. Nonetheless, far more Americans believe that the press coverage has favored Barack Obama than think it has favored Hillary Clinton.

Nearly four-in-ten (37%) say that in covering the Democratic race, news organizations have been biased toward Obama while just 8% say they have been biased toward Clinton; 40% say news organizations have shown no bias in their coverage. Substantial minorities of Republicans (45%) and independents (40%) say the press has been biased toward Obama; somewhat fewer Democrats (35%) see a pro-Obama bias.

The weekly News Interest Index finds that Obama has clearly been the dominant figure in the campaign thus far, both in terms of press coverage and public visibility. Despite the widespread belief that the press has favored Obama, many of the events that have registered most strongly with the public centered on controversies involving either Obama himself or his campaign.

Of nearly 40 campaign events that have been measured, Obama's relationship with his former pastor Rev. Jeremiah Wright remains the most widely heard about campaign story. In early May, 62% of the public said they had heard a lot about Wright's speeches dealing with race and the presidential campaign.

Aside from the Wright controversy, more than half of the public (52%) heard a lot about Obama's statement that some small-town Americans facing hard economic times become bitter and cling to guns and religion. An additional 51% said they had heard a lot about the videos of Rev. Wright's sermons in late March."

How can the media be biased toward Obama when his controversies are the MOST WIDELY COVERED EVENTS IN THE CAMPAIGN???

      Ignorance is bliss....ain't it?

        Thank you Joe,

I sincerely doubt if any other candidate in any type of political race has ever been under this type of scrutiny. We all know why so there is no reason to post it but it does imply that we as americans have not progressed as far as some of us would like to believe. It is sad. Hopefully by the time we have an asian, latino, native american, muslim or jewish presidential candidate it will be better.

        • Posted By: citron16 @ 06/12/2008 1:18:38 PM

Why is there such scrutiny about Obama? Could it possibly be because of all the people he has associated himself with? His choice of friends? Trinity Church? The reason people are saying that the media is on his side is because everytime something is brought up like Rev. Wright, the media makes excuses, and acts like it doesn't matter! Who you choose as your friends says alot about a person!! It does matter to alot of Americans what was preached in Obama's church! If Rev. Wright had been any other polititions Rev. or Priest their careers would be over, but not Obama's because the media totally down plays everything about Obama!!!!!!!! NOOBAMA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

          • Posted By: joe_mama @ 06/12/2008 1:26:06 PM

....so you AGREE that there is no pro-Obama media bias?

...you agree that, as a newcomer, he has faced as much (if not more) scrutiny as the other candidates?

Surprising to hear from an Obama critic....Thanks for proving our point!

A parody (pronounced [??p??????di??]), in contemporary usage, is a work created to mock, comment on, or poke fun at an original work, its subject, or author, by means of humorous or satiric imitation. As the literary theorist Linda Hutcheon (2000: 7) puts it, "parody ??? is , not always at the expense of the parodied text." Another critic, Simon Dentith (2000: 9), defines parody as "any cultural practice which provides a relatively polemical allusive imitation of another cultural production or practice."

Parody may be found in art or culture, including literature, music, and cinema. Parodies are colloquially referred to as spoofs or lampoons.

Kboogie is so full of crap,

    Here are his sources:

    1) http://www.vvof.org/mccain_hides.htm
An OPINION piece saying McCain MUST have something to hide because he doesn't want to declassify documents and isn't sure there's credible evidence of POW/MIA in Vietnam
A judgement call at best....means NOTHING

    2) http://www.usvetdsp.com/smith_mc.htm
Another OPINION piece saying McCain got preferential treatment as the son of an Admiral.
OF COURSE he did you idiot....he was a "trophy" prisoner...it's called "propaganda" (look it up if you don't know what it means)

This article also discloses his "confession" due to torture (in case you hadn't heard, bogus "confessions" are a propaganda tool by the Northern Vietnamese! Everybody--except you, that is--knows they're BS confessions)

    3) http://educate-yourself.org/cn/earlhopperinterview08feb08.shtml
yet another OPINION piece stating that U.S. aircraft losses increased after McCain was captured....therefore he MUST have told them how to shoot down planes
Never mind the fact that they had radar and modern Anti Aircraft batteries and could analyze several years of U.S. attack patterns AND the fact that anybody with half a brain could reasonably identify the strategic targets in the own back yards
BTW--the people discussing him NEVER SERVED WITH HIM and WEREN'T in prison with him. They claim they don't know if he was "really" tortured all that bad, but they seem to know EVERYTHING he alledgedly gave up.

I'm not even going to waste my time googling the others, as I'm sure they're more opinion pieces written by people who weren't even there.

And yes, I'm voting Obama in 08!

    • Posted By: Kboogie @ 06/11/2008 9:52:14 PM

Don't forget to discredit his own book, also.

Did John McCain betray US in Vietnam?

"In his book, the Arizona Senator repeatedly expresses guilt and disgrace at having broken under torture and given the North Vietnamese a taped confession, broadcast over the camp loudspeakers, saying he was a war criminal who had, among other acts, bombed a school. "I felt faithless and couldn't control my despair," he writes. He writes, revealing that he made two half-hearted attempts at suicide. Most tellingly, he said he lived in "dread" that his father would find out. "I still wince," he says, "when I recall wondering if my father had heard of my disgrace."

Opinion? I believe not. He confesses and apologizes in HIS OWN BOOK!!!

      Read it!!

      • Posted By: joe_mama @ 06/11/2008 10:07:30 PM

Since you can't read, I'll say it again:

"confessions" are a propaganda tool by the North Vietnamese....

Intelligent people know they mean NOTHING.

Frankly, I'm glad to know he feels guilty about it because he knows the North Vietnamese could fool idiots like you into thinking that his "confession" actually meant something.

        Here's one for you:
" Encouraged by the anti-war movement in the US, Hanoi went to great lengths to present its case through a persistent propaganda campaign aimed at its own people and the world, in this example staging the capture of a downed "pilot." In propaganda films made about the time of the Hanoi March, USAF F-105 pilot Capt. Murphy Jones was paraded first bandaged and dirty, clad in underwear, then (left) aboard a truck, wearing his flight suit. Both films were part of the North Vietnamese effort to establish American pilots as "criminal aggressors" and "air pirates."

Use your brain, you moron...it's not that hard to understand what was happening

""confessions" are a propaganda tool by the North Vietnamese...."

So what then of those all so important "confessions" of the "terrorist" held with no rights on GITMO?

        • Posted By: Kboogie @ 06/11/2008 10:18:12 PM

Keep reading idiot!! You're proving my point. The ultimate goal of the propaganda campaign was to strengthen the cause of the Vietnamese, in which he aided. He also divulged strategic military points, in return for "privileged" treatment while he watched his fellow POW's rot.

Azzhole, you know nothing about PRIDE, HONOR, INTEGRITY. A President who won't die for his country, but expects others to, is not fit to be MY PRESIDENT. How's that azz taste? Kissing it kinda tough, there.

Rame was right....it's soooo easy to talk brave when you're sitting behind a computer.

Consider this: Even the Soviets, having perpetrated a lot of the torture against American POWs, know how easy it is to crack under pressure. So much that they had an official policy of leniency towards soldiers captured in Afghanistan:

"Soviet State is prepared to be lenient to all those Soviet POWs whose actions, because they were unable to withstand enemy torture, have caused damage to the interests of the Soviet State"

            source: http://www.vietnam.ttu.edu/vietnamcenter/events/1996_Symposium/96papers/jay3.htm

But, you are so much tougher than the Soviets, that, surely, you could take it with a smile (just like you take your G-Y lover with a smile!)

            I'm done with you.

He has been senator of Illinois for a very very short time and has done nothing as senator except run for president , I live in Chicago Illinois I have heard about Trinity church!
