Eyes WIDE open and I say "NOBAMA!" Please, he is just some experiment that Oprah made up in her lab. The man has no experience! He has not even completed ONE term in the Senate and you think he can run our country? A country he refuses to show he is proud of? He couldn't stand up to his (ex) pastor and he is suppose to stand up to the leaders of Iran, China, etc. and tell them to quit developing and testing nuclear arms? I'm glad a black man made it to the primaries, I'm just sorry that it's Obama.... what a waste of a ticket.

    Mr. Samuelson,

Open your eyes. Barack Obama can do all of these things and then some. You need to join the 21st century and use your journalistic abilities accordingly. It's time to move forward and Obama gives us that fresh start and the savvy to go with it. Finally, an intelligent and capable President to look forward to. Rejoice.

Let me ask you a question, how can you find nothing wrong with what Rev. Wright preaches or that Obama attended this church for 20 years and saw nothing wrong there? I am asking because I can't imagine Obama as president because his rev. preached God D AM N America and in my thinking anyone who wants to be elected president should truely love this country.

It's too bad that we're stuck with two bad choices - Republican or Democrat. Not that any of the third parties are any better, but it would be nice to vote for someone who reflected your views without having to worry about throwing your vote away. I'm an economic conservative but a social liberal - where is my party? I am stuck with having to vote for an evangelical nut-job, a socialist blow-hard or throw my vote away to a guy like Nader. I doubt that I'm the only one who is disillusioned with our fake politics and the artificial polarization caused by our simplistic two-party system. I only hope that both Obama and McCain can continue to resist the temptation to mindlessly take the party line.

The only worthwhile thing he has accomplished along with Howard Dean, Ted Kennedy and the DNC
"Puppet Masters"is to unveil the Party's true colors and their incredible ongoing determination to self destuct.

McCain is hard to swallow but I feel our nation would be more secure under his leadership but a lot of that depends on who he chooses for VP. In Obama's case it doesn't matter, I won't vote for him anyway !

Comment: Welcome Hillary Supporters June 11th, 2008 12:55 pm ET

I'd like to welcome all the Hillary Clinton supporters to the republican party and thank you for coming to your senses and backing the best candidate, John McCain.

    Together we can:

    1) help reverse Roe v. Wade and make abortion illegal - let's stop the murder of unborn babies!

    2) stop gays from getting married - let's get a constitutional amendment to stop gay marriage and let them know they are not normal!

    3) keep fighting the good fight in Iraq for as long as it takes - remember 9/11 and what we are fighting for!

    4) get ready to invade Iran - we know they are planning to nuke us - let's get them first! McCain will make sure we do!

Good to see democrats finally waking up and becoming more conservative!

Look at what the Republicans are saying. Is this what the Hillary supporters want?

    • Posted By: mcleodmn @ 06/11/2008 7:25:41 PM

Yay! I can't wait to stomp out diversity, invade more countries, kill the middle class, and send my kids off to die in a pointless war! And all this time I thought conservatism was a disease! What was I thinking?

Since you feel no obligation to fight for your rights and privlages provided by this country. Ever considered moving to a country that ask nothing of you? Lets see, who's looking for a free loader who would rather not be a citizen and contribute to society???? Yep, I'm drawing a blank here, Guess your stuck ......

        • Posted By: mcleodmn @ 06/11/2008 8:08:23 PM

The republican party is caving in on itself. Let's see...
There's a boring geriatric republican candidate that isn't well liked by the party's core constituancy. There's a country that has been driven to two wars and economic peril by the worst president in the history of our country(literally) who is a republican. Not to mention the McClellan scandal. I see republicans leaving their party in droves and republican politicians losing elected positions across the country. Dems are out fundraising republicans by exorbitant amounts and democratic registration and enthusiasm has never been better. Republiphiles are so screwed. It's a lot of fun for the democrats to watch your agonizing death. It's been going on for years now.

I hope you don't mind gay rights, a womans right to choose, medical marijuana, and peace, because they are coming your way like a freight train. I'm going to slip on my birkenstocks, get into my Prius, stop at Starbucks on the way home, hug the tree in my front yard, and then take out the recycling. You can have fun arranging the furniture on the deck of the Titanic....

          • Posted By: citron16 @ 06/11/2008 11:27:30 PM

And the democrats have the worst candidate they could possibly ever find!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Posted By: eternity875 @ 06/11/2008 7:57:20 PM

Nice try you Obamabot! You will not convince anyone by talking in extremes. McCain supports judges who will not make law...he supports winning a battle and then coming home and he supports strict economic sanctions on Iran...any other dumb ideas?

  • Posted By: chindognyc @ 06/11/2008 7:23:30 PM

If this is the man that we want as our next President, then John McCain will kill us. We should now know that McCain is for Big Business.

    • Posted By: SPORTLOCK09 @ 06/11/2008 7:29:40 PM

Agreed, McCain is a politician. So is Obama. Why do you believe one scumbag is any better then the other? Even the rev stated Obama is a politician who will say what he has to to be elected. You know, right before he left Trinity church after twenty yrs and thousands of contribution dollars.

      • Posted By: Kboogie @ 06/11/2008 7:47:41 PM

Yeah, politicians and their pastors...no good together. Kinda like when McC was sucking up to Hagee for 12 months for an endorsement, then threw him under the bus at the first sign of trouble. What a "maverick".....some would call that a TRAITOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

        • Posted By: SPORTLOCK09 @ 06/11/2008 8:00:54 PM

Whats worse, throwing your pastor under a bus (which I dont agree he did) or your GRANNY AND MAMMY?
I guess that makes Obama the ultimate traitor huh. To sell out the woman who carried you in her womb. And poor ole granny who took having a bi-racial child in the 60's right on the chin. I'd imagine all the racist whites in the 60 didnt take to well to a prominant white woman with a black child, you agree? And for all her trouble she gets the Ole TYPICAL white person label. What a piece of shyt if you ask me .....

          • Posted By: Kboogie @ 06/11/2008 8:41:59 PM

Yep, I'd take that over revealing our US TROOPS to the Vietnamese anyday!! I'd rather have Granny mad at me then my troops killed. Especially since he took an oath. You know.....that oath that POTUS takes at inauguration. Idiot!

        • Posted By: citron16 @ 06/11/2008 10:20:23 PM

Obama has Rev. Wright for his pastor for 20 Years!! Rev. Wright preaches God D A M N America and the chickens have come home to roost after 9-11 And then there is father Pfleger and Farrahkan.Obama's church and Pastors are the worst. I will never understand how some people can choose to just ignore this. McCain's priest is nothing compared to Obama's, GET REAL!!!!!

  • Posted By: Rametyn @ 06/11/2008 10:32:48 PM

Joe. I know you're an Obama supporter, so don't take this the wrong way; but the contradiction in Boogie's statement lies within the background the two opposing candidates. John Mccain served in the armed forces, and did survive torture. Obama has no military background, and I doubt he would stand the test of torture for very long, and doubt he be any more desire to die for his country under the same circumstance since he has never volunteered his service in the armed forces.
That being said, if Boogie will not vote for a president who would not die for his country under torutous conditiions, then this whole conversation is moot--because Boogie cancels out his own vote by not having anyone to vote for.

We are all safe and sound and can now go to bed.

    • Posted By: joe_mama @ 06/11/2008 11:02:17 PM

      Rame,

As mature, intelligent people, we don't have to take offense at people who are expressing their opinion in a sensible way.

I, for one, think military service is overrated....it didn't prevent FDR or Woodrow Wilson from being effective during the two World Wars...it didn't help IKE beat the North Koreans (we're still at war, remember?) ... it didn't help LBJ or Nixon defeat the North Koreans (McCain did that, right Booger?).

Moreover, Ronald Reagan was nearsighted, and, although he enlisted in the Reserves, his WWII active duty was stateside, so he saw no action....and yet he was responsible for the biggest military build-up in American history (I'm not saying it was good or bad...I'm just saying he did it).

Granted, Bush I never saw active duty and he's gotten us mired in this mess....so I'll give you that one.

Similarly, I do not believe Obama's lack of military experience is a negative, either. Besides, the Vietnam Vets are starting to get older, and the draft was eliminated in 1973. Pretty soon we'll have a crop of politicians who never served (or never had to face enemy fire) simply because they were born too late for Vietnam and too early for Lebanon, Panama, Grenada or Gulf War I.

When that happends, theoretically, you won't be able to vote for anyone as they just won't have the requisite military experience.

BTW--I'm done with Booger, so we really don't even need to address him anymore.

      • Posted By: joe_mama @ 06/11/2008 11:07:32 PM

BTW--from your previous posts it sounds like you're a vet.

Don't believe the conservatives.....we ALL value your commitment and sacrifice and mourn our family and friends (and total strangers) who weren't fortunate enough to make it back safely.

        Boogie,

You've crossed the line. I'm a bleedin' heart, tree hugging, run n cutting monkey's uncle and I think you are F--in crazy!!!!!!

Breaking under torture makes you a traitor?
What the f--k do you know about torture?

How long do you think you'd last? I'm guessing about 5 minutes.

I may not agree with Rame or McCain or anybody else, but there's no f---k'n way in h-ll that I'm going to criticize somebody for breaking under torture!

And what, pray tell, did McCain tell them anyway? You seem to be an expert on the matter so let's hear it.
Did he provide information that led to the deaths of Americans? Did it ever occur to you that, by the time he broke, the information he gave up WAS WORTHLESS??? Or maybe it was misinformation altogether???

        Let's hear it, dude.

I don't think you can tell it because I don't think you know what the hell you're talking about.

So stfu....you're making us all look bad!

That's the problem with everything you are saying. We are not living in YOUR world. We are living in the real world. Trying to say that is a fact because it means that in YOUR WORLD... that is priceless.

Wait, you're going to tell us you are not from this planet. Yes?

Now that I may actually believe.

    Last comment I will make.

There was never any ill-attempt at trying to scare you. Like, I would spend time finding you and hunt you down. LOL By saying I've killed "better" people than you, I meant that there are enemies of this country that I have encountered in which I consider to be of better moral fibre (and I am talking about Jihadists here) than you seem to possess. The fact that this small statement skipped over your head only examplifies the small minded abilities you have in processing information. Once again, another misinterpretation based on what you believe was being said, and what was actually being said.

I'll leave it at that. Anything else you may post will be regarded a sheer bait attempts to keep a pointless conversation going, and therefor deemed as not worth responding to.

Again I wish you luck in trying to reach ... somebody.

Transcript from CNN required. Just saying it was on, doesn't mean that it was on. Childish once again.

Look, you can keep posting the same exact book excerpts over and over and over is not going to make John Mccain a traitor how ever many times you post it, just because that is how YOU interpret it. Like I said, if there was any merit--and again I gave you the quote where it was discredited--then the media WOULD BE ALL OVER IT A LOT MORE THAN JUST LAST WEEKEND. IT WOULD BE DAILY HEADLINES MORON!
But you just keep on trucking there genius. Keep believing it while no one else is. Keep screaming it to the high heavens. And when, because it has no merit, he gets elected into office, then perhaps you will remember this day's bit of posting and weep. You will run into the streets screaming, "BUT HE IS A TRAITOR!" And perhaps someone will come along, slap you in a nifty "I LOVE ME" jacket, and haul you off to the KABOOBIE house.
Until then, I really could give two rats about what you think. It won't change anything, and when I wake up tommorow, I will turn on the news and smile, as I hear not a single word in reference to John Mccain being a traitor. That my friend is a fact.

Is has been fun listening to the empty pontification of you rhetorical rants.

For me, I will still have my honor, knowing I don't make baseless claims about killing people, or running someone back to Iraq because I have no truth in the merits of my own manhood. I will not have denegrated the service and sacrifice of others, acting with cowardice in the fact that I did not serve myself. No, I may even go down to the courthouse where I live, where there is a bronze plaque that is hung there commemorating my heroism and service of distinction while I was in Desert Storm, and I doubt very much that while I stare at it in reflection of what defines me and who I am, I will not think much of you, or the sniveling little cries that you are still out there making--hoping that somehow, in someway, someone may validate you by something you may have said in an attempt to feel the self-worth I believe you to be so severely lacking.

After all, why would anyone spend so much time trying to convince people they don't ever know--will never know--that they are so smart, and so wise, and so right in someplace as meaningless as a message board room.

Good luck man, I hope you get through to someone.

I disagree with you on a number of things and I have no intention of voting McCain, but I can personally guarantee that Boogie is only reaching the other numbskulls who are so mired in their own pathetic little world that they'll make up any reason to hate on somebody.

I wasn't voting McCain before, but Booger has me ready to defend him with these nonsense postings and BS opinion pieces.

      He isn't reaching anybody.

Joe. Being able to disagree is one of the things that makes our country great. By having to immerse ouselves in discussion in order to reach some commonality within ourselves I think we are better for it. That being said, you seem to be a very thoughtful person of some intellectual candor, and quite pleasant for someone who may disagree with me. LOL. Make sure you don't let the Kaboogies get the best of you. Probably best to simply be resolute in obstaining from any topical retort with such people.
Hope to come across you, perhaps some other time, so that we may better explore our disagreements together with a more civilized intonation, and therefore hope to better understand each other.

Good luck in your political endeavors.

Te media (and Robert Samuelson in this article) continually buys into the idea that John McCain circa 2000 is the candidate running in 2008. He is not. I agree the McCain of 2000 was a principled viable candidate for president. That is not the candidate thate is running this time around. McCain of 2008 has one guiding principle: do what must be done to be president. Say what people want to hear. Forget about principle. Be willing to change every position with which you have earned your reputation as "Maverick." Forget about honor. Drive the "Straight-talk express" down every crooked highway... back over the truth... and park it where the sun don't shine if that is what it takes. Do what must be done... This is not the McCain of 2000 which I could have voted for. This is a different ccandidate. Look at his record. Look at his "experience" over the last eight years. McCain wants to be elected as a republican and has sold his soul to do it. Let's hope we don't end up paying the price as well.

Hey Stlm: if you do find something, please do post it.

I was trying to figure out how they could come up with a number of people who might be misrepresenting their vote. Scientifically, I can't think of a procedure that would give you the average number of people that when asked if race was a factor. Would be interesting to know how they may have come up with an estimate.

    Thanks

I still don't have a source yet, but using common sense, I guess they have polls done in all 50 states and in territories, which they can now plot against the votes cast and the demographics of each district. That tells them the rough racial bias among Democrats. They can then at least use this as a rough guide for tracking polls going from here to the election. I will be nice here and assume racial bias is not worse among Republicans. And there are independents too, so this is imperfect. Will see what I can find, though I don't suppose polling companies want to be giving away too many of their secrets.

You have two choices for president:

The first one has one of the longest lines of political experience in history. He is exceedingly popular in congress. He also volunteered to defend the our country in the US Navy.

The second one has no real political experience outside of Illinois. He is tall and lanky with big ears. He even lost a few of his first attempts at gaining political office. He is an excellent speechwriter and orator. He is a good attorney and has a successful law practice.

So which one would you choose?

This is a trick question because both were already Presidents of the United States. The first one is the 15th President of the United States, James Buchannan. He is the President who mired us in the Civil War by declaring the action illegal but doing nothing when the south decided to seceed from the Union. He is largely considered by historians as being the worst President in American history.

He was followed by the other man who became the 16th President of the United States: This man is credited with the end of slavery, the end of the Civil War, and unification of the nation. He became president at a dark time when our country was deeply divided over very polarizing issues. He had no experience in Washington prior to his Presidency. His name was Abraham Lincoln and he is widely considered by historians as one of the best Presidents in American History.

    Sound familiar?

Wow Jack, I can't believe you are actually trying to compare Obama to Lincoln! Valiant effort but you forgot somethings, LIncoln was a Republican, Buchanon was a Democrate. The democrats back then were for the rights of the slave owners, the Repulicans were against it and always have been for equal protection under the law. I imagine the dems changed their views probably when they realized it was unpopular (note, they were major opponents to Civil Rights.)

Here's what I think is really funny. I've killed better people than you Kboogie.

At least the combatants I encountered during Desert Storm had SOME honor. They weren't a buch of punk b*tch azz twirps hiding on their computers calling people names that they wouldn't dare in person. You said you wanted one source, I gave you one. But like I said it is never enough for pods like you. I could say CNN-- I MEAN CNN -- one of the biggest purporters of liberal bile in the business. AND LIKE I SAID< IF YOUR CLAIM HELD MERIT WHY IS IT NOT STILL NEWS!!!!!!!!
You say give me a source, then argue why that source doesn't count. LOL YOUARE A MORON!!!!
Otherwise, state to everyone right here right now why this "traitor" story isn't being still blasted all over every airwave and in every speech that Obama is giving. Tell us who is reporting it today.
    You can't.
BECAUSE THERE IS NOTHING THERE YOU THICKHEADED PANSY!!!!!!!
And keep calling people b*itches, that in real life--somewhere other than from the cowardice hiding place of your computer. One day it will catch up with you.
I promise, you wouldn't say it to my face.

If you really wanted to do something for your country, you'd castrate yourself.

      • Posted By: Rametyn @ 06/11/2008 8:24:00 PM

ahh, yet another brave wonderful soul with balls of brass to carry as his own. AS LONG AS YOU SAY IT FROM YOUR COMPUTER>
Like I said before, the disrespect that the military people recieve from hippie-wanna be anarchists is such bs. You can never argue that without the military existing to provide you freedom, we would be invaded tommorrow. And idiots like you would be drug from their homes, crying like babies because there is no one there to stop them. Live under the guise of false reality. Believe everything in your life would be the way it is right now without the military. It shows your stupidity

Oooo. You're a bad ass. If you want to make a difference in this world, go back and get your GED, dipsh*t.

See. Just stupid baseless remarks. I graduated from college a long time ago. Do you people actually think that making blanket remarks that have no factual standing about someone you don't even know really helps to aide in making you look more intelligent>

            • Posted By: Kboogie @ 06/11/2008 9:25:27 PM

And you go on and on..... And yes 6 sources, plus an excerpt from the man's book, totally make your 1 source from Phoenix look like fluff piece. Do something constructive....MORE RESEARCH!!!!

    • Posted By: Kboogie @ 06/11/2008 8:34:16 PM

M*th*rf*cker, I've killed b*tch*zzez with more commonsense, and intellectual capacity than you!! You're a f*cking joke. The masses laugh at nancyboys like you. You're a punchline, partner. Don't get it twisted, soldierboy, I would have you running back to Iraq.

Did John McCain betray US in Vietnam?

"In his book, the Arizona Senator repeatedly expresses guilt and disgrace at having broken under torture and given the North Vietnamese a taped confession, broadcast over the camp loudspeakers, saying he was a war criminal who had, among other acts, bombed a school. "I felt faithless and couldn't control my despair," he writes. He writes, revealing that he made two half-hearted attempts at suicide. Most tellingly, he said he lived in "dread" that his father would find out. "I still wince," he says, "when I recall wondering if my father had heard of my disgrace."

Want more you f*cking TRAITOR lover? You would get picked off in a second around these parts, vouching for a piece of sh*t like MCCAIN!!

Google- "POWs against John McCain" or,
      -http://www.vvof.org/mccain_hides.htm or,
      -http://www.usvetdsp.com/smith_mc.htm or,
      - http://educate-yourself.org/cn/earlhopperinterview08feb08.shtml

Unless you can discredit the barage I threw at you, you can just shut up now!!!!!!

      Your dismissed, roadkill!!

      • Posted By: Rametyn @ 06/11/2008 8:50:07 PM

Like I said, I did discredit it. Trying to say something is more valid because you provided more sources is also redundantly stupid.
I provied you the quote that says these claims dissintegrate under closer scrutiny, and where you can find that quote. You because you do not accept that as suffiecient does not make it nonetheless true.
Just makes you a continuation of the moron you were before.

  • Posted By: Rametyn @ 06/11/2008 8:56:47 PM

Lol. Who said I'm hanging on your everyword? I just like making you look stupid. LOL.
And I'm sure we all believe that you are getting paid to post in message boards. LOL
    What are you, like twelve?
What's next? Your gonna claim to be Jesus or something?
    LOL

    • Posted By: Kboogie @ 06/11/2008 9:15:49 PM

You're boring me jerkoff. And yes, YOU ARE hanging on MY EVERYWORD. You still havent disproved any of my documented info, and until you do, you are resorting to every other distraction your feeble mind can conjure. You are a joke, a moron, a punchline, a drinking game. What you believe is not my concern. Everytime you post w/o debunking my claims, YOU look weak. You haven't even investigated the sources I've provided. You have no ammo, you have no argument. How many sources do i have to provide? I gave you an excerpt form MCCAIN's book, for god's sake. Run along b*tch. When you can add some substance to the conversation, come on back.

I can't really blame you, though. You're a puppet who takes orders.
