Doesn't it sometimes seem like instead of trying to decide on the next President of the US, we're trying to decide who should be valedictorian of summer school?

The two choices are, who supported the first ever unprovoked war in American history, or the person who didn't. McCain, like Bush, supports preemptive wars, so when McCain said bomb, bomb, bomb Iran, I don't think he ment singing to them...

      Talk about your "ringing endorsements"!

Besides, our guy (Obama) sucks less than your guy!

      LOL

Wow Gameroo, didn't know you were an authority on honesty. Weren't you the guy who tried to convince the chatboard you were a Navy Seal because you got called out for making deriding military comments toward the wrong guy?

You can neither prove I am or I'm not. Unlike the security clueless, I don't have an ego that needs to prove things others, specially those that post names and phone numbers of people on court dockets. (Tell the wife I said hello :)

For those who think Obama would do well in choosing Clinton you are dead wrong. It will not only show how weak he is, but that he could not do it without her. IT also would show that the Unity you all speak of is not only in vain, but superficial, and inaccurate- neither are qualified or experianced. Bill Clinton does not deserve to be back in the White House- as first anything- after being impeached, and Hilllary is not a wise woman for staying with the disgusting cheat. If you want your taxes raised sky high then vote for a Democrat, you will surely regret that decision. This country needs to fogive Bush and the Republicans and think clearly on how more qualified they are as a whole. The Democratic Congress made you promises two years ago and have not come through. Have you all forgotten or are you enjoying the life in the dark enough to be disenchanted next January with a man who went to a Church for 20 years that preached hatred of this country he now wants to lead? OMG- wake up. McCain has solutions if you open your ears!!

I think that America's obvious problem is not that McCain nor Obama don't have a plan for these issues; the problem is that the mass media is more concerned about lapel pins and military service. The issues raised in this article are valid and becoming more pressing with each passing day. But looking back to the 2004 election they were just as important and just as ignored. Every debate was "who will be the better

Commander in Chief???? Our country has become obsessive about who will be the better military leader, and not who will make sure our county better. Let the Join Chiefs make the war strategies, and the Executive office do their job.

I'm so tired of listening and reading things from a host of people who call themselves political "experts" writing articles criticizing Senator Obama. If these so called "experts" know everything, why aren't they running for office? Anything to make a buck it seems.

    • Posted By: Rocky2001 @ 06/11/2008 11:35:59 AM

Hey dumb@ss he criticized McCain too!! Obama or McCain is not perfect....crawl down off your high horse and take a look around.

Some messes are just too big to clean up, so the candidates wisely recognize this and do not promise to clean up the mess. Maybe one of them will get a big stick and at least stir it a little.

I think it's a little too late. This Obama guy has successfully manipulated the thinking process of the American's brains through his eloquence & enviable oratory skills. As he was deemed Mr. Fix it, there are more surprises to come beyond the expectation of all those who paved his way to stardom. How in the name of Jesus, could anyone think that this pale green rookie senator, with little political exposure, has solutions to the numerous problems that saturates the White House. This is an unbelieveable mistake in judgement that tens of thousands of people will eventually pay an enormous price for. May God be with them all.

Hillary Supporters beware and rememeber the wolf's clothing Republican!!!!

If US has a PRESIDENT of this magnitude appeals WOW !!!!!!really AMAZING real Talented never in AMERICAN history before,Im really PROUD to be American Again,,he's Zionist, Muslim, Christian, Black, White,Buddist,Hindu,Bengali,African,Red-Indian,Chinese,Japanese,Hawaiian,..........WOW this all are an ASSETS smart Americans can be proud of,only the FOOL and STUPID can treats this as LIABILITY that look exactly like themselves.

Barack Obama would actually be much better for America security. There's no doubt to me McCain would be better than Bush, the Bush years being probably as much about fueling terrorism than fighting it. But McCain would still represent (but less) what can be seen as America's arrogance, something that makes USA so unpopular around the world. A black man with Hussein as a middle name would send a clear message in Middle East that America is about freedom, an important contrast with some form of imperialism. Combined with Obama intelligence about understanding dialogging with enemies, I humbly think this would affect directly terrorism recruiting. I may sound over-optimistic, but I think his image alone as a president could do more for democracy in Middle East than any war.

This Economy common sense!! yet many Americans have difficulties to understand the basic of their existence in first place.Check out the fate of Sodom and Gomorrah (Genesis 18 and 19). Take a look at Romans 1:22-32. Pretty sobering reading - if you are not too self-important and arrogant to think you've already got it all figured out and don't need the input of the Ancient of Days. Don't guess they teach Proverbs 1:7 at those Ivy League school.

Now that the electorate has been inspired and drank the Kool-aid...hopefully the media will help the voters analyze both campaigns with real un-biased information so we the voters can make an informed decision. The populist message of the Obama campaign , if carried out since he will enjoy little opposition in a Democratic Congress will hurt us economicaslly for years to come. If mcCain get elected, we will not focus on the ills of our society, i.e. health care, social security, etc. We need real answers to real problems, not the empty promises of inspirational rhetoric.

Not to worry Mr. Samuelson a soon as Obama gets ripped apart by the GOP Mrs Clinton will re-start her campaign as and INDEPENDANT and be the next President Of the United States of America. Mr. "Hope" will be unveiled for what he really is: A phony!

  • Posted By: jath123 @ 06/11/2008 10:36:35 AM

For the record, Mr. Samuelson, maybe government under President Clinton was disfunctional not because of the whopping 2 years of 1-party Democratic rule (1992-1994), but because of the subsequent 6 years of a Republican Congress while he was in office? In fact, one of the few successful and laudable acts of Congress in recent years was 1993's Family Medical Leave Act, passed under 1-party Democratic rule. Your attempt to compare 1992-1993 to the disfunction of the following 12 years of Republican Congressional control and 8 years of GWB's presidency is intellectually dishonest.

  • Posted By: jath123 @ 06/11/2008 10:28:22 AM

    Mr. Samuelson,
I am not sure many voters will follow the "divided government is good" mantra this year. As consistently disappointing as the Democrats may be, we are coming off 8 years of Republican disaster. I am willing to give a governmental majority to the Democrats one more time before I switch my allegience to Independent forever if they fail. But then I just may be more naive than you.

With regard to energy policy, groups allied with the Democratic Party are definitely better for this country than the drill and burn crowd. The Republican talking points on energy are full of trends and buzzwords, with no overarching strategy. For example, the talking points now are that we need to invest more in nuclear energy (which I agree with), and pursue more biofuels an domestic drilling for more oil production (with no mention that they have mocked biofuels for years). Well excuse me for actually thinking, but if we develop a carbon-neutral electric infrastructure (nuclear), then why power our cars with oil or biofuels? Wouldn't it make more sense to invest in advanced battery technologies and migrate to electric cars that run off the clean electric grid? This is just one example of what's wrong with these folks... they have no integrated strategy for success.

A similar lack of integrated strategy is present among Democrats. If global warming is THE pressing issue of our time, then why not implement a carbon-free electric generation grid of wind, solar, and nuclear (to make up the inevitable deficit)? Yes, nuclear waste is a concern. But isn't global warming a BIGGER concern of far greater magnitude? If so, then let's get real and do something.

I don't see any contradiction to Obama's rhetoric to the extent that everyone knows or should know that it is alright for him to state where he stands on the issues and what he will fight for, but we still know that compromises must take place which he points out and understands as well. I think most reasonable people learn from an early age that you can't get everything you want, and that people who should be emulated are those that demonstrate good citizenship.
