Such a good "Christian" country like us, proud of sending troops into a poor third-world country to bomb the hell out of 'em, so sure of a fast 'victory" and declaring "Mission Accomplished" prematurely.

No wonder Bush was egged at his inauguration. I'm sorry but too bad someone didn't lob something worse in his direction then. We at least wouldn't have millions of refugees, dead and maimed on our collective conscious. Not to mention all the deaths involved in 9/11. I blame the Republicans for this breach of security - they were too busy impeaching Clinton to focus on national security, apparently.

What a load of clowns.

And Bin Laden is still running free.

What kind of awful, corrupt politiians do we have in Washington? It'll be a cold day in hell before I EVER vote for another Republican.

And because of Bush Administration's "mistake" now millions of Iraqis are homeless, displaced and with no likelihood of being able to return to their home country in the near to distant future. Apart from the hundreds of thousands of untold Iraqi lives taken by our flawed judgment and stupid middle east policies, we're also responsible for maiming possibly millions in the wake of our air attacks. Our reputation, credibility and respect around the world has been destroyed.

Was it worth the so-called "legal" machinations that James Baker took on behalf of his good buddy Bush Sr. to see that Bush Jr. was put in place for an eight-year regime?

Obviously, we didn't even secure the oil in Iraq either - production is not even what it was under Saddam Hussein's regime. Bush, Saddam, what is the difference?

Someone please tell me why we want to build 50 "stations" (including embassies and military posts) in Iraq? The British failed in the early 20th C to gain any foothold in this country - why is the stupid Bush Administration even bothering - we speak even less Arabic than the British Empire officials did back then. And at least they had Gertrude Bell. She'd be turning over in her grave if she knew of the dstruction and havoc we've wreaked -- all for naught. It's not a war that we can "win" in the conventional sense and we've totally messed up the country and its inhabitants in our effort to take over a sovereign nation.

they both should be impeached for crimes against humanity, at the very least..
they also both should be removed from office, everything was a lie, from the very beginning. they cheated their way into the presidency in 2000, don't you think it's a little strange that for the first time in history, the votes took 2 months to count, were counted over and over, and the problem ended up being in Florida, where his brother works? how do we even know that 9/11 was real? how do we know for sure it wasn't a big act? we can't trust what the CIA says, look how much they've hidden from America already, they know EXACTLY what's happening, there's nothing we're asking that they don't know about - or have known about for the past 5, 10 years. they should be punished....they probably are also working with the same people who assassinated JFK and ML King, Jr. They deserve nothing better than corporal punishment

It amazes me that Clinton gets impeached for lying about a bl0wjob, yet Bush and his cronies get ZERO consequences except the majority of Americans and the world hating them. All the republicans who lined up to pillory Bill back during that scandal now demure about taking Bush to task. Don't let this war criminal and his accomplices off the hook. Punish these liars and crooks to the fullest extent of the Law.

Or are we a country that only punishes minor indiscretions with women, rather than disastrous deception on a world scale?

Somehow, I'm reminded of John McCain's story of his POW captivity and torture by the Viet Cong, when he finally "broke" - pressed for the names of his comrades in arms, he gave up the names of the Minnesota Viking defensive line.

Cheney, Rumsfeld and Rice knew damn well there were no weapons of mass destruction; they lied, pure and simple, and used some low-level terrorist wannabe's tortured "confession" to justify their actions, setting up Powell and the rest of us.

Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice and Gonzalez should be tried by the international community for war crimes. They supported the flagrant disregard of the Geneva Convention by allowing and encouraging torture, they invaded a country they knew was not a threat to our physical safety, lied to the American people and the rest of the world about both, and are directly responsible for death of 4000+ American servicemen and women, not to mention thousands of innocent Iraqis.

Bush and Cheney should be impeached for high crimes and misdemeanors, and maybe even treason, for their completely incompetent handling of the war in Iraq, which didn't need to occur, and the war In Afghanistan, which did need to occur but was ignored and abandoned before any true victory could be achieved.

Unfortunately, none of the above will happen. And sadly, all of this was predictable.

Thank you for this article. Our President and V.P. wanted this war so badly that they were derilict in their duty - to double and tripple-check intelligence that would lead our country into war. This was a deeply irresponsible betrayal of the American people. Why is Congress refusing to impeach them, when their own findings show how these two leaders defiled their high offices? Impeachment hearings are the only sane response to this.

Thank you for this article. It looks like the administration was searching for ways to justify this war so desperately that they were derilict in their duty to double-check the intelligence. That would have been the consciencious, responsible, moral thing to do. But their blood lust - or whatever other true motive they had for the invasion - trumped their duty to faithfully execute their duties. Considering the consequences - many of which were accurately predicted by moderate voices, yet also ignored by Bush and Cheney - they both need to be impeached. It's the only sane response of a nation betrayed to such depth by its President and V.P. How can Congress know, and even PRODUCE, these findings and still refuse to impeach?

He didn't have to do anythig about Saddam. the hijackers were from Saudi Arabia and Egypt. It had nothing to do with 9/11. And as for an Al-Queda connection, why don't you ask bin Laden what he thought of Saddam. Bush told us he was working with bin Laden, that was a lie. Your just letting him off the hook becuase he is a member of your party. If a democrat had screwed up this bad, you would have demanded his impeachment the next day.

So once again, another investigation proves that neither the president, the vice president, or ANY major player in the administration in the run up to the war "lied" as so many liberals have continually bleated for years now. What is confirmed, yet again, is "...most of the Bush administration's claims were 'substantiated' by some internal intelligence-community reports." That some intelligence reports were questioned as to the credibility of the source shouldn't surprise anyone....intelligence gathering is an art, not a science, and if you who a report to two different intelligence experts, one will find it truthful, one will not. What the president HAD to do in a post-911 world was err on the side of caution, and take Saddam out. Bravo Zulu, Mr. President, you've been vindicated once again.

So let me get this straight. The U.S. economy is in peril, our trade deficit has risen to very uncomfortable levels, and we look like fools. Of course this is solely the fault of Bush/Cheney, and individuals need not take any responsibility. Everyone should just blindly send their funds to foreign economies, often $50k+ at a time for foreign automobile purchases, etc., and then not consider the impact of their decision or source of the problem.

The rapid shift of wealth away from the U.S. is most certainly detrimental to our long-term economy and security of this country, but certainly not the sole fault of two individuals or even a political party. Until individual consumers and investors begin adding some depth of thought to their decisions, the problem will worsen. i.e... just because a foreign car is fastened together by some U.S assembler making $9/hr, it's not necessarily sensible to write a check for $50k+ to that foreign company and/or their subsidizing foreign government.

Surely our intelligence hasn't depleted to the point that we now expect our government to control our individual investing/purchasing decisions.

That wasn't the CIA proper, it was George Tenet. And if you think that the senate was given the same information Bush was, you really are a sucker. Keep defending them if you want to, but you cant ignore groups like PNAC and their agenda long before taking office.
