The real thieves are the big oil companies.I hope the Lord has a special place in hell for all of them.

  • Posted By: kcwolf @ 09/22/2008 1:27:43 AM

I'm not surprised at this at all. Here in South Central Missouri, where we live one day gas is $3.25 a gallon & the next day gas is $.3.69 a gallon. And that is the cheapest gas. Diesel is over $4.00 a gallon here. The gas companies are gouging the people & don't care that they do. But congress will do nothing, because they all have their hands in big oil.

Oil and war, war and oil. Environmental destruction. Endless greed. US corporations getting tax breaks while shipping jobs overseas to countries that have no environmental protection laws, no workers' rights, no human rights. Countries where people are factory slaves and the air is so polluted you can hardly breathe. US military violating the Geneva convention, torturing prisoners. US government imprisoning people without charging them with any crimes, and holding them for years without trial. Working class Americans losing their homes in a mortgage banking scandal, and the government bails out the banks, not the working people.

    It's simple:

If you are sickened by these things, vote for Obama. If you think these are good things, vote for McCain.

I'm a Republican and I own two corporations. I thought it would be a cold day in hell before I ever said anything like this. But the unprecedented corporate greed aided and abetted by an unscrupulous Presidential administration is now starting to take down the US economy. I have to stand up and protest.

Corporations are good only insofar as they strengthen America. When they start to weaken us, we need to re-evaluate the rules and regulations governing business.

And we need to get rid of George W. Bush, along with all of his misguided policies that have dragged our once proud nation into the mud.

Only part of this rise in gas prices has been due to Bush's policies. The bungled war and unregulated Wall Street meltdown have ravaged the dollar, which is part of what's killing prices. If the dollar were able to buy more foreign currencies that trade in oil at a higher rate, gas would be correspondingly cheaper, maybe up to a buck or so or even more.

However, the era of buck-fifty-a-gallon-gas is gone forever, no matter what any president does. International demand for oil has skyrocketed due to increases in demand from India, China, and former Soviet Bloc countries which aren't going away. As a matter of fact, oil prices are only likely to increase from here on out, including the price of gas.

America is in very poor shape to withstand this. Bush isn't really culpable for the rise in gas prices; the largest energy poilcy failure of this administration was the complete failure to see this coming (it's been pretty visible on the horizon since at least 2000) and to take action to move us toward renewable energy sources eight years ago.

The biggest challenge to America's prosperity has been a trick question for years now. Since 2001, a tremendous number of Americans have believed it's been the threat of foreign terrorism. Bad as 9/11 was, I don't think it's going to compare with the coming economic and environmental problems our petrochemical dependence is going to cause. Biofuels only exascerbate the problem, because we've tied our fuel sources to crops that are going to increasingly fail due to environmental catastrophes. In reality it's been the intense and growing dependence of our entire economy on a really relatively scarce as well as highly polluting fossil fuel that was the major challenge the administration governing from 2000 to 2008 needed to face, and Bush has gotten distracted and blown the money we needed to do it on military contractors in a useless war. We're going to be in for hard times in the coming years.

Ok listen, It isnt going to get better , stop trying to blame someone, start right now this second and start making plans for tomorrow not for the world but for yourself, I have a plan I moved out of Florida to the backwoods of Kentucky because i saw this coming years ago we raise our own meat and veggies we dont have A/C we have a fan. My family has decided it is time to go back to the way things were years and years ago people didnt sit around complaining about the world they didnt have time they had too much work to do. so, that is what we have done we are teaching our children how to become self-sufficeint.

  • Posted By: sabeeii @ 06/15/2008 3:26:02 PM

I will tell you it isn't going to get any better I moved out of the city in Florida to the country in Kentucky and alot of people think I am crazy but, I am buying vacant land pretty cheap out in the middle of nowhere with the plan to become self sufficient we have already planted our first fields I am learning how to can for winter, we are raising our own meat and veggies and planted our own fruit trees I have teenagers and they were not thrilled when we moved but, they are adjusting and the new lifestyle has been great for the whole family . The Garden is alot of hard work but it is good quality time spent together as a family. so yes the economy is getting worse for everyone but way out here it doesn't have as bad as an impact on us.

    • Posted By: jackaraoke @ 06/16/2008 12:55:26 AM

That's awsome!!! I had friends, whose dad would grow a garden. He had us kids help once it a while with it and I truley treasure those days now.... But they did live in the city. It was the small town of Apache Junction, Arizona. At least it was then, in the '70's... Anyway, it isn't a must to live in the country to do that kind of thing... People can do it in thier back yards... More power to ya!!! I'm sure that your kids will fair the better when all's said and done!!! :)

So far everyone has missed the boat, we are paying $4.00 per gallon of "gas" for a product that is .05% gasoline and 99.95% chemical, this has given a new meaning to highway robbery. So far no one in our electoriate has enough guts to say, WHOA STOP, this nonsence, they need to decide who is ripping who off? Wheather you get 10 MPG or 50 MPG it makes no difference, your still only getting ON HALF OF ONE PERCENT OF ACTUAL GASOLINE per gallon of gas. So why are paying $4.00 for gas when we should be paying .02 cents per gallon, thats all the actual gasoline is worth at .05%. We can talk this thing to death but until someone (all of us) says enough is enough absoutely nothing is going to change! Its time to stop talking and start changing the electorate completely. Talk about taxation with out representation, we got it bad.

  • Posted By: happycamper69 @ 06/15/2008 12:55:28 PM

Yes India and China are emerging markets that are sucking up resources left and right. yes we Americans waste too much energy hands down. Jimmy Carter gave tax encentives to people who put solar panels on roofs and he raised the MPG ration standard for the auto industry. Ronald Reagan came in with all his oil company staff and removed the soloar panels from the white house, cancelled the tax credit and then spent a bunch of money from social security to keep the bombs flowing during the cold war. Our current war is being fought over oil in Iraq. If you think it is about terroism then you are seriously in need of an education beyond fith grade. Almost the entire cabinet of George W Bush is from oil companies including GWB himself, Cheney, and even Condolezza Rice. We could have spent that war money on funding alternative fuel sources and been world leaders in that filed of study which would bring about jobs and economy growth in our country. Instead we get rebate checks to go buy made in China products at Walmart. People are getting desperate. What do you think people are going to do when oil goes to $200 a barrel? And yes it is going to go that high. We have used up 50% of all the know oil supply in the world in the last 50 years. At the current rate of consumption we will burn through the remaining 50% in less than 25 years. Do what you can to save the planet today people, for yourself and for your children and grandchildren.

Have you by any chance got spell check on your puter? You really need it. If you believe what you are being told about how much energy is left in the world, you must be talking to Exxon, some of the biggest liers next to congress.

my Jetta TDI gets close to 50 mpg around town...and have gotten over 60 mpg on conservative hwy trips (through the mountains). The hybrids get OK milage...but at the expense of the environment, due to the manufacture and disposal of the batteries....and on the hiway, when running only on gas, it's not so good.

PS a buddy scared a couple thiefs away from behind his shop.....in the morn we found a brass punch beside the truck

PPS next time the economy is good...get (AND READ) a book or two on how to not only survive, but prosper, during a downturn in the economy so you will be able to give yourself credit for doing well instead of blaming the government for your doing poorly!!!!

I would like to see what a chemist comes up with as to the actual amount of gasoline in a gallon of gas. MSDS showes it as .05%. So what are we actually paying for? MTBE 99.95% of the contents of a gallon of gas. Check it out for yourself.

  • Posted By: Picks200 @ 06/15/2008 12:37:36 PM

I would like to see someone have a chemist anaslize a gallon of gas, according to a MSDS sheet it's only .05% gas and the rest is chemicles eg. MTBE. Check it out don't listen to me.

But if you insist....poor baby, are you having a rough time? Are you having trouble paying for gas for your widdle SUV? Did you have to move into a smaller house? Go freakin wipe your nose and tell it to somebody that gives a crap. logical budgeting my ***, pay attention!

It is nice to see that some people still believe in the good government bs unfortunate as it may be. It is the American way to have and do things bigger and better that is driving us down. It is a consumption issue the caused a big problem with fuel prices but that is not the sole issue. You would also be IDIOTIC to think that our government wouldnt hesitate to capitalize on even the slightest fraction of a penny from the American people, Which has also played a big part in the escalated prices. As for the housing crisis, there are circumstances beyond our control that caused this. Primarily pointing to your GOOD GOVERNMENT!! Bought a house great, jobs good, awesome, wait CEO moves your job to Mexico, damn sorry about your job, gl with the new house... Only one example, but its not only about the lack a logical budgeting, *** happens to more people than the government wants you to believe and they pass it off as currupt lenders and bad judgement by the buyer!

3 years ago, a guy from the east coast was stealing gas in Alabama by parking a trailer over a truckstop's filler plug and pumping fuel directly out of the underground storage tank and into a portable tank. The fumes in the trailer exploded. He survived and spent a long time in a Birmingham burn unit. It was the "feel good story" of the year.

    • Posted By: Givemeabreak @ 06/15/2008 1:10:23 PM

Jim, I hate to ruin your feel-good moment, but the jerk probably spent that long time in Birmingham on your tax dollar.
Just like the Meth lab operators that set themselves on fire, and are taking up so much space in burn units that they're out of room for more legitimate patients.
Unless this guy had incredible insurance (that covers injuries sustained during the commission of a crime....), you guys in Alabama probably paid more in 2 days for his medical care than he made the whole week pumping gas. God bless America.

  • Posted By: wildbill69 @ 06/15/2008 11:27:20 AM

Remington and Winchester are better than the locking cap and it also reduces the chances your neighbor will have the same problem next week!!

  • Posted By: bswiles @ 06/15/2008 11:26:58 AM

you people are idiots...You're government didn't increase the consumption of gas. YOU DID!
India...China...and all the cheap gas the US consumed over the years is now coming back to haunt you. What makes America weak is not the lack of government but the failure of its people to take responsibility for their own actions. just like in the housing crisis...bought a house I can't afford...boo hoo...the government will help me...

    • Posted By: selahbrook @ 06/15/2008 11:45:53 AM

Please tell me why Mr.bswiles, you have to resort to calling people idiots? Who said anything about gas consumption? I believe people are talking about the rising gas prices and the only "consumption" I am reading about it, is possibly by the people who are stealing it. Your attitude is a prime example of why our society is going under and quick. I would hate to see how you would treat a neighbor in crisis, especially with your little boo-hoo comment. Please go back into your torrid little web of hate and leave the name calling in the school yard.

      • Posted By: Givemeabreak @ 06/15/2008 1:17:03 PM

        Don't shoot the messenger.
By the way, you accuse bswiles of a "web of hate?" Didn't you just post about whether certain government officials are worth the powder it would take to blow them up? Are you aware that those officials are real human beings? Oh, because you don't like them, it's ok to hate them. Sounds like Al Qaeda or T. McVeigh logic to me.
To the point - he's right; prices go up as demand goes up. There aren't enough hateable government officials around to use that much gas. 300 million Americans driving SUVs can burn up a lot of gas, then whine about their government not doing enough to keep the price down. (Or buy too big a house on a stretch of a loan and then wonder why anyone let them be so stupid.)

Whether it's nice to call someone an idiot or not, it's legitimate to ask whether anyone can really take responsibility for their own actioins. Stop waiting for some magic person to "care what happens to us." That's what used to make us the strongest nation. Babies aren't strong - responsible adults are.

  • Posted By: jmc01644 @ 06/15/2008 11:15:43 AM

Unfortunately, Selahbrook is so right when it comes to our government! Our government could care less about its people. Why should they care if gas hits 5 or 10 dollars a gallon when they have millions sitting in their own personal accounts at the bank!!! It is sickening to think that our entire economy is going down the toilet while our government sits back and continues to laugh at us while standing in line at the bank to make yet another unearned deposit!

  • Posted By: selahbrook @ 06/15/2008 11:12:15 AM

Our government doesn't care what happens to us. Their pockets, mouths, and gas tanks aren't being emptied. Their children are being taken care of very well. Our past government officials AND future officials aren't worth the powder it would take to blow them to hell. We were once the strongest nation. Now the other nations are probly laughing at us. It's a terrible time when chldren can't go to school to learn because diesel is so high and the common citizen can't make it work to earn a living because they can't afford to drive. Good Grief!!!! I wish our officials would stop saying " how they would change things" and somebody do it.!!!!

  • Posted By: ricps69 @ 06/15/2008 11:07:46 AM

It greatly appears that you are all not seeing what is really happening. While it is true that some of the comments about the oil companies and government and our over-reliance on oil are on point, they are not the major drivers of the current cost of gasoline. It is being drove up on the commedities and futures exchanges, which is coupled with the fact that the American dollar is very weak abroad. THAT is the true reason for gas prices being what they currently are.

  • Posted By: selahbrook @ 06/15/2008 11:05:34 AM

This is completely uncalled for!!! We are supposed to be the country of dreams and wealth. Now our government has our nation so ecnomically challenged that we are stealing gas from each other just to make a dollar. Our presidential candidates can say what they want to about how they will lower gas prices or stimulate our economy. They don't care about the citizens. They are all just cushioning their own pockets while we are all left to fend for ourselves and our children. Our govenrment is a huge let down and I don't see our future government doing any better.

  • Posted By: mauschin @ 06/15/2008 11:00:57 AM

I WONDER WHAT MY FELLOW COUNTRYMAN WILL DO IF FOOD BECOMES RATIONED --AS WE HAD DURING WW11--I STILL HAVE MY GRANDMA'S RATION BOOKS--WITH STAMPS--WE DID NOT STEAL FROM EACH OTHER--

    • Posted By: Givemeabreak @ 06/15/2008 1:22:59 PM

Why, selahbrook just told you what the problem is: "our government has our nation so ecnomically challenged that we are stealing gas from each other just to make a dollar."
People steal because their government gives them no other choice, not from any lack of morality.
That FDR deliberately got us involved in WW2, thus necessitating the rationing, is a historical fact agreed upon by liberals and conservatives alike. So I guess the government causing rationing in the 40s would have justified stealing back then too, right?

There's always been folks who will steal, create a black market, etc. Just seems to be more of them today. Maybe these jerks with no sense of decency are coming out of a secret, Government breeding program. The "Gomit" is responsible for everything else....

    • Posted By: james323@yahoo.com @ 06/16/2008 9:35:53 PM

Owning and driving a vehicle is a privledge, not a right. If people can't afford to fill up their gas tank, they should not be driving. There are other means of transportation. People aren't willing to change and are always looking for someone to blame rather than exploring alternative options.

Methods of reducing gasoline prices, saving endanger species and environmental protection have a lot to do with American pets. Although such method of saving the endangered species may not be politically correct. Ironically, to saving those endangered species we must destroy and the number of many other the species we currently have in abundance -- our pets. Except those who are acting, guiding the blinds, guarding, termites and police detection, herding, hunting, catching rodents or other benefitial tasks. Pets, especially dogs in excess have contributed to some of our most serious environmental problems. Todays their wastes especially feces are piling up at our landfills even if they flushed into the toilets will create extra burden for water treatment plants. Waste before being disposed of are stinking up our air and atmosphere. Some of those gaseous waste such mathane, CO and CO2 are greenhouse gases. Pet droppings on our roads have created driving harzards and polluting our water sheds. Those dropping will also spread diseases such bird flu or other diseases. Road kills may result in Mad Cow Diseases or making street unpleasant for walking. Pets will bite men sometime resulted in rabby. Regardless of whether there are bites, attack by dogs will create traumas which will require medical or psycological treatment especially to small children. Pets will also create allergy. Again, they will deterred pedestrain from travelling on the road in favor of driving which will cause pollution and consumption of gasoline. Pet hit by cars will result in collison damages requiring more resources to build or repair new cars. Harvesting from natural and domesticated food supplies to feed our pet will creat food shortage for men and wildlife. Again, pollution will be their results. Yes... Get over it.... Sorry, but it is called life on earth.... You are looking at pets, of all things that causes polution!
Okay, let get rid of all of the pets. Then lets get rid of, to make this short, and to the point... Cars, or any form of transportation; houses; buildings of any kind; etc... In other words quit living!
Okay, we need to find a balance between the to extremes. Do you see that? Don't go to one extreme or another...
To the other, who commented about spelling... There are many who are smart, but simply can't spell, or even use proper grammer... However, that doesn't mean we should discount them. We all have a God given right, not to mention, American right to place our opinion! Yes, the education system sinks, but that is another issue...

Jordan C., if you are going to post a lengthy political comment, you might first want to make sure you know how to spell and can use the proper tense of a word. Nothing makes your comments ignored more quickly than when they look like they were written by a 2 year old. Come ON! What has happened to our education!!!! Also, when making fantastical claims, you might want to cite some research.

Are you saying people shouldn't own pets? Gas prices have NOTHING to do with wheather people own pets or not. The problem with endangered animals will still exist no matter what. People will hunt for sport and will still eat meat. GET OVER IT

He found that someone had drilled a hole in his gas tank and not only had they taken what they wanted on the content of his gas tank but they let the rest of the gasoline drain on to the ground under his car. Think about the animals that might think it was water and drink any puddles...what about a stray disposed cigarette!

If gas really becomes that big of a crisis, crimes like these have got to have severe punishment or things will just get worse.

Great point olderwiser. I have actually thought of this also in recent years. America is made up of folks that are basically indignant toward any country but our own. I think we are our own worst enemy.

I've wondered sometimes if our crime rate is largely a genetic influence. Think about it. We have been settled for generations by immigrants from the rest of the world. Many of these were ejected from countries for undesirable conduct. Crime has to be one of these. Even insanity, as when Fidel Castro tried to empty his insane asylums by sending their inmates here by the hundreds in the 1980's. Many of us, then, are descendants of people sent here as undesirables. Is there a "crime gene" in our midst? Probably not, but sometimes I wonder. It seems so inappropriate in a society as prosperous as ours.

Gee if the gas companies weren't already stealing form Americans, including our freedom, the Robin Hoods out there wouldn't have to "steal back" If Iran can have gas for 11 cents a gallon, We should be out there drilling and lowering our gas costs. Gas is 45 cents per gallon in Chinia and China is drilling in the Gulf of Mexico, where we should be drilling. Our congress needs to get off thier big fat behinds and let companies drill

I think that we need a Society Doctor. He examines the body, finds that it has an illness. Crimeness, crimeosity, Crimeiasis? Then he consults his medical books, finds a cure, administers it and we are well. No more crime. We've had so many politicians in the past who actually ran as Society Doctors and promised to eliminate crime. One of the most prominent was Richard Nixon who ran on Law and Order. His vice president, Agnew, went to the penitentiary, Nixon himself tried to help cover up a burglary and had to resign to avoid impeachment. Governmental malpractice. The patient nearly died, wounded his party big time.
I guess we may as well get used to living with crime. It has always been with humankind, so, please, no more political promises to eliminate crime.

  • Posted By: olderwiser @ 06/13/2008 8:10:43 PM

So, I guess that the public steals gas and the gas company steals back? No, that can't be it.

  • Posted By: olderwiser @ 06/13/2008 8:08:46 PM

The most humorous crime was the giant gas company Enron, stealing from the public, and sadly, it's own employees. Those who say that poverty causes crime need to explain why billionaires steal from their employees. Thanks in advance. I will check back for the explanation.

You can't blame this on Bush/Cheney, actually we have none other than the champions of the less fortunate than the Democratic congress. They have tied the hands of oil in a way that they can no longer drill anywhere here in the US. Both the Atlantic and Pacific Continental shelves are off limits to drilling. Public land that holds enough oil that we could be free of foreign oil long after our children's children's children's are long dead and gone. There is over 800 trillion barrels of oil and the democrats and all of the tree hugging bleeding heart liberals have seen to it that you the American public will pay higher and higher gas prices, just so that some obscure bug is not displaced from his home.

When will you people start getting the picture and decide to take back your country from those that have stolen and sold it to others? Freedom costs, complacency requires no action.

    • Posted By: Killerdrgn @ 06/14/2008 12:17:56 AM

where the heck are you getting your numbers for 800 trillion barrels of oil? Not even the Middle east has that much oil in their reserves. The only reason why the oil companies want to drill in public lands is because it would be free for them AND they would still charge you $4.00 a gallon. China subsidizes their gas sales to their citizens, it's not some sort of stupid conspiracy that they're drilling all over the place, The oil prices are HIGH ALL OVER THE WORLD, even in the Middle east their prices are considered high for their citizens at 50 cents a gallon, more than triple what they used to pay. Learn before you post and make stupid comments.

      • Posted By: taarnold@cox.net @ 06/15/2008 12:59:05 PM

Shadow14US - your numbers may be off but your comments are right on! There is a lot of oil to be drilled right here in America and just off our coasts. You are also right in that you can't blame Bush/Cheney but you can't blame our current Democratic congress. This problem is the fault of the last 40 plus years of both Democratic and Republican congresses and Presidents as well as the stupidity of the average American who falls in line behind those Presidents and Congressional men and women. Taking back our country will not be an easy thing and I'm not sure how it can be done. The problem is that there are too many people out there who blindly believe the lies and crap their elected officials and the media spew out everyday! Three things I will continue to do is vote (based on my own research), continually voicing my opinion, and questioning the stupid actions of elected officials (by contacting them) and complimenting them (which does not happen much at all) when they do something right.

On a different note, what ever happened to those people you would here about in the media that found a way to tweak the carburetors on their vehicles and get 100 plus miles per gallon? I hear that the car companies as well as the oil companies (and with the help of the feds) snatched these people up as soon as the could. It makes you think - hmmmmmm!!

        • Posted By: Sepulcherdragon @ 06/15/2008 1:50:24 PM

Unfortunately what typicaly happens to oil drilled in Alaska is it gets shipped out and sold to Japan and China because it is closer and easier to transport than to try to transport it to the US. They have been selling oil from those feilds over seas for years.

  • Posted By: james323@yahoo.com @ 06/13/2008 11:55:00 AM

Prices are bad, but bottom line, there are other options. Nobody should go to stealing others gas! I'm sick and tired of hearing people complain about "there is no other option. I have to drive ___ miles to work. I live in the country, I can't ride a scooter on a busy highway. I'm running out of people to blame for my problems......." Quite whining. If you can't afford to pay for gas, sell your car and find an alternative source of transportation. I don't like paying higher prices anymore then the next person, but i will. Use your brain people. It is sad and pathetic to see so many people gripe about the price of gas, when you look at other countries and the problems they're dealing with. Shows how petty some of the American people have turned when they are up in arms about gasoline. Sad we as a nation have come so dependant on fossil fuels.

  • Posted By: emmarcee @ 06/13/2008 11:20:52 AM

sharing my story. I suspect gasoline was siphoned off from my van last time I went for service. I went to a prestigious Toyota service center for oil change. I was pretty sure that the gas level was much lower when I took the car back. I didn't complain because I knew the desk guys well and didn't want to be seen as a jerk, of course. But next time, when I go to these places, I will make sure that I have only just enough gas in my car, so it would n't be worth siphoning. I guess with the price like this we should hold on to our gasoline like gold.

I never said I couldn't afford it, I said we had to budget for it. 2 totally different things. Go drive your hybrid and enjoy being alone. Maybe one day you'll have a family and realize that a sub compact car can not hold a family of 4 plus everything that goes with it.

  • Posted By: Elidine @ 06/13/2008 7:42:35 AM

Ya know, I own an SUV. Last August I bought a 2007 Nissan Xterra as I needed the space for my 2 children, my wife, and the massive amount of baby things we must take with us every where we go. (ie, strollers, baby bags, toys, etc etc) At that time I lived only 7 miles away from my job.

I was laid off and now must drive about 40 miles one way to get to work. My new job only paid about 1500 more than my last job...but I don't see that raise. All that extra money +more goes right into my gas tank.

I have no choice but to drive to work. There is no bus, no commuter rail, no public transportation that goes from my town to where I work.

At this point in time, we are trying to sell our house so that we can move closer to where I work, but with the market the way it is, it has just been sitting there.

While the gas prices aren't yet causing us to miss meals or to not pay other bills, it still takes a chunk out of our "fun money", We used to go out every weekend to shows, to shop, to camp, etc. Now we must plan ahead and factor in the additional gas cost and food costs. Where as before, we never gave it any thought.

We have reduced our spending to compensate, but this sucks. I bust my @$$ to earn a good living and its all going right into my gas tank.

keep a small car (even used) for daily commute.. how about sharing ride?

  • Posted By: lkj1968 @ 06/13/2008 3:34:01 AM

It's a shame that people in the U.S. use high gas prices as an excuse to steal gas. Remember the Rodney King riots? "I don't like the verdict...I'm entitled to a free TV". Is this our nation's collective mentality? Gas prices in Europe and many other places have historically been much higher than in the States, even with recent price increases. Europeans have learned to cope by making responsible choices. Decades of low gas prices have resulted in bad choices by our auto industry and the consumers who purchase their gas-guzzling behemoths. Like it or not, being an American does not mean we're entitled to cheap gas. How about we pull our heads out of our collective rumps and start leading by example? If we can't develop our own common sense...maybe we can steal it from someone else.

The truth is simple. We all stuck in a downward sprial. I am serving in Iraq in the Army. I feel it's not just the gas prices. It's everthing in the good old USA that is going to pot. It cost the tax payer 400 billion dollars a year for us to be here. Most people over here do nothing, but sit aroud all day everyday. I drive a fuel truck. Take fuel all over the place what they can't fit, going on the ground. This country is stable, but we still spend the tax payer money to keep us here. Don't you think that money could be better spent in our own country. Them mabe the gas prices, econmy, health care or education. Might not be that big of an issuse. I was a Bush supporter in the beginng. Now that I see things first hand. I reget my vote now. Something has to change, or more and more good people are turning bad. Just to make ends meat and to take care of there families.

We have a local cartoon here where it shows 2 executives from the oil companies bumping bellys & giving high fives saying "At last we've gotten the american public to think $3.00 a gallon is cheap!" If that doesn't say it all then nothing else does! They hit the nail right on the head with that one!! We are being ripped off every day by the oil companies and we as AMERICAN'S should put a stop to it but no one will stick together! And like I said if you want a bunch of truckers to stick together you myswell forget it. Do you know what the difference between puppies & truck drivers is? The puppies quit whining after 6 months!! It's a shame that you can't get them to stick together. We have a logistics company that gives us our freight, PLS, from Pittsburg, PA, do you know how they are helping out with the rising fuel costs? Asking, well really demanding that the trucking companies lower their rates, which by the way are lower than they were 10 years ago, and if you don't lower your rates then you are left out in the cold. We work for Steel Transport of Gary, IN out of the Middletown area and it is a tough thing to deal with. You have some of the execs sleeping with dispatchers to get good freight and they don't have to lower their rates. It's a dog eat dog world!!

Well as everything goes to pot in the USA. Nobody cares about the day to day struggles of everyday life for the adverage person, but as it gets harder, and people feel like it's never going to end. We will have good people going bad. If his country will fastly become a third world. I am serving in Iraq right now. Today it does not make sence to spend 400 billion dollars a year to keep us here. Alot of us doing nothing. Really who should care if Iraq is stable at the cost. When that money can be use to stablize the good old USA.

It's a shame to see what some people are doing to get gas. One day the headlines will read.. " Gas station explodes, leaving several dead due to a failed attempt of stealing gas!" We areto RE-active instead of PRO-active. Instead of blaming government(by the way aboutourtimes, try spell check!) we should look to empower ourselves and work with our neighbors to improve our way of living, instead of blaming them. It's time for all of us to look in the mirror and say, "What can I do to help better our society?" and " What have I done to help someone else and not expected anything in return?" It all starts with taking RESPONSIBILITY for our own actions and surroundings.
